Chapter V
"Steve?" Natasha gasped while he kissed his way down her neck. God, her skin was so soft.
"Hm." He pulled her closer against him, he couldn't stand not to touch her when she was around him. He was possessed, there was no other explanation. She had bewitched him. She was all he could think about.
"Your phone!" Nat sighed. "It won't stop buzzing."
"Ignore it." He said before kissing her again. Chloe was finally sleeping and they had time for themselves. Natasha moaned into the kiss and he used the opportunity to lick his way into her sweet mouth. God, he loved this. This was all he cared about right now. Natasha's hands moved to the hem of his shirt and he sat back to get out of it. He looked down at Natasha, her long red hair spilled across her pillows and her cardigan almost completely unbuttoned revealing her lace bra, and he couldn't believe his luck. She bit her lip when he got finally rid of shirt and he laid down back again, their chests touching. His phone had finally stopped buzzing. He was gonna check it later.
Nat wrapped her leg around his waist, pushing their pelvises together, making them both moan. God, that felt good. Their kiss grew deeper and deeper, their hands touching each other wherever they could. He was sure they were going to sleep together for the first time tonight.
Natasha grabbed his hand and placed it on her breast. "Okay?"
"Yeah." He breathed and got her out of her cardigan. Thank God, cardigans and lace bras were a fashion trend. Natasha put a hand against his chest and he sat up. She gave him a wicked smile and pulled one strap of her bra down. Yup, it was going to happen tonight. He was one lucky guy-
"Steve!"
"Yeah?" He was looking at the swell of her breast.
"Your phone! It's started buzzing again! I think it's important!" She pulled her strap back on.
Fuck!
"This better be life or death." He grunted and Natasha snickered. "It's not funny!" He complained, his jeans were pretty tight. He grabbed his phone from Nat's nightstand and saw that Sam was calling him.
"Yeah?"
"Bucky got arrested!"
Steve was more than grateful to Pepper that she let them borrow a SI private jet and was looking after Chloe. He'd told Natasha that she didn't need to come with him, but he was so glad that she did. Apparently Bucky hadn't gone to his therapy session today which had resulted in his arrest. He still had no clue why Sam and Buck were in Baltimore and why it had been more important than his weekly therapy session that was a condition of his pardon.
Thanks to Natasha's driving skill, they made it from the airport to the police station in record time. It had only taken them two hours to get to Baltimore which meant that they had probably broken a few laws themselves.
Steve stormed into the precinct, Natasha right by his side. He knew that they would get Bucky out in record time. Well, Natasha would. She was a force of nature.
"Sam!" Natasha spotted him first.
"Guys, hey." Sam looked tired. "What are you doing here?"
"Are you really surprised that Steve showed up?" Natasha smiled at Steve and then Sam. "Okay, tell us what happened so we can fix this."
"Sam!" A woman walked towards them. Her eyes widened in surprised when her gaze landed on him and Nat. "And Captain Rogers and Agent Romanoff, hello. I'm Dr. Raynor. I'm James's therapist."
Sam shook Dr. Raynor's hand. "Hello. Nice to meet you. Are you here to get him out? The big guns are already here." He nodded his head at Steve and Natasha.
"No. But he's free to go. Well, almost."
Natasha raised an eyebrow. "Who authorized it?" Yeah, Steve was confused as well.
"Christina!" Someone shouted and they all turned heads to see that John Walker walked into the precinct. Fuck, no. Steve didn't want to meet him. "And Captain Rogers! You got a beard!"
"You gotta be kidding me." Sam muttered underneath his breath.
"So great to meet you!" Walker shook his hand with more enthusiasm than necessary. "Finally!" Steve didn't miss how he completely ignored Sam and Nat. What a dick. "Bucky won't be needing any more therapy. You're welcome."
"What?" Dr. Raynor didn't sound happy. And neither was Steve. Therapy was important. "We haven't finished our work. Who authorized this?"
Walker pointed at himself and Natasha rolled her eyes. Steve was starting to see why Buck hated the guy. Steve saw out of the corner of his eye that Bucky was walking through a door. He looked surprised to see Steve and even more surprised that Natasha was here as well. He smiled for a nano second until he noticed Walker and frowned.
"Just do what you gotta do with him and then send him my way. We've got unfinished business. You too, Sam." He acknowledged Sam's presence for the first time. "Rogers, I'd love to get a coffee with you. I've got so many questions for you."
Ugh, no thanks.
"That has to wait, John." Dr. Raynor interrupted. "I need Barnes, Wilson and Rogers. These are my conditions to send James your way."
Walker didn't seem like he liked that, but he nodded. "You're the shrink. I'll wait outside. Coffee?" He looked at Natasha.
"Thanks, I'd rather die of thirst." She smiled sweetly at him. Did the guy really think Natasha was going to get a coffee with him after he'd completely ignored her?
"Ha." He laughed uncomfortably. "I've heard about your sense of humor." He seemed unsure of himself. "I'll...I'll be outside."
Raynor walked towards a door that probably led to the interrogation rooms. Bucky and Sam followed her. Natasha gave him an encouraging smile before he followed them.
"I actually only want to talk to James and Wilson, but I could sense that you didn't want to talk to John, Captain Rogers." Dr. Raynor smiled a little before she looked at Buck and Sam. "You two, get inside!" Neither Buck or Sam looked thrilled, but they followed Raynor into the room.
"I...I'll just wait." He said to no one since the door was closed. Why wasn't he allowed to join the session? Was it a good idea to lock Buck and Sam into a room? They didn't get along too well and what were they doing in Baltimore?!
He walked back to the waiting area and Natasha looked up surprised from her phone when he sat down next to her.
"That was fast."
"She just gave me an out from Walker, she only wants to talk to Buck and Sam."
She squeezed his knee. "Makes sense. There's a lot of tension between them. Maybe she can help."
"How's Chloe?" He knew that the munchkin was on her mind and that she was checking on her. He was thinking about her as well, he didn't like that they were so far away from her. He was always thinking about Chloe and Natasha, he wondered if this was what it felt like to be a husband and father.
"She's good. Of course, she is. Pepper's great with kids." She showed him a photo of a sleeping Chloe. "Of course, now she's sleeping through everything and not when we want a little time for ourselves."
"Yeah." He chuckled. "And when we do get some time for ourselves, my best friend gets arrested. I still don't understand what they are doing in Baltimore."
"No clue." Natasha rested her head on his shoulder. He was surprised that she was doing it in public, but he was happy about it. "We'll find out sooner or later."
It looked like they were going to find out sooner than later because Bucky stormed into the waiting area, looking rather upset. They stood up and walked towards him.
"You okay?"
"Yeah."
"Buck!" Steve knew that Bucky was lying.
Bucky just shook his head. Sam came into the room, looking pissed as well. Natasha gave Sam a curious look, but he shook his head as well. Great, looked like neither were going to talk about whatever happened during that therapy session.
"Jesus, enough with the brooding. This is not a Twilight remake!" Natasha groaned and Buck looked confused. "Let's get out of here." She walked towards the main entrance.
"Let's take the back entrance." Bucky said.
"Walker will definitely be waiting there. You wanna run into him?" Natasha raised an eyebrow and Bucky clenched his jaw. "That's what I thought."
It really seemed that Walker was waiting at the back entrance because he was nowhere to be seen. Natasha left to get the car.
Steve turned to Sam and Bucky. "Okay, what are you two doing in Baltimore? Are the Flag Smashers here?"
"No. We went to see Isaiah Bradley." Bucky answered and Sam looked like he was waiting for his reaction.
"Who?" He had never heard about Isaiah Bradley before.
"You don't know him?" Sam looked relieved. Steve shook his head. "He's like you." What? "He's a super soldier, but they hid his identity because he's black. They locked him up for 30 years."
"What?" He couldn't believe...No, that wasn't true. He could believe that this had happened. "I had no idea. I'm so sorry, Sam."
Sam and Bucky told him all about their visit and Steve was shocked and disgusted by what was done to Isaiah Bradley. "I should talk to him, I-"
"No." Sam interrupted him. "That wouldn't do anything for him. It would be more about you than him. And another white dude showing up at his house would only bring attention. He wants to stay dead. And no offense, but your words are meaningless."
Steve nodded. Sam was right. The rental car stopped in front of them, Natasha unlocked the doors and they got into the car. "Everything okay?"
"No." Steve said honestly. There was a lot on his mind.
"I want to talk to Zemo." Bucky said suddenly from the backseat.
"What? No!" Steve and Sam said at the same time.
"He knows more about super soldiers than anyone else!"
"He's right, Steve." Natasha said softly. "You know, he is."
"Yeah, but he's dangerous, Buck."
"I'm not the Winter Soldier anymore. He can't do anything to me."
"I'm going with him, Steve." Sam promised. "He won't be alone."
"I'm going too." Steve said. He didn't want to but he knew that he had to. He wanted to go back to New York to be with Nat and Chloe, he didn't want to go to Germany, but he had no choice. His retirement was over. At least for now. Natasha gave him an unhappy smile.
"No, Steve. Sam and I deal with Zemo. I know that you don't want to come with us. And you two got a baby waiting for you at home."
"What?" Sam shrieked and Steve fought off a laugh. "A baby? Like a real baby or-"
"If Steve wants to go with you, then you'll let him." Natasha spoke up without looking away from the road. "That's the least you can do after cock-blocking us."
"What?" Sam squeaked again. "Jesus, what else did I miss?!"
"Natasha!" They really didn't need to know that!
Bucky ignored Natasha's words. Steve felt Buck's human hand on his shoulder. "It's okay, Steve. I can do it without you. You've done your time. Now it's my turn."
He turned around to look at Bucky. His best fried nodded at him. "Call me, if you need me."
"I will."
They offered Sam and Bucky to use the SI private jet to get to Germany, but they wanted to take a regular flight and Steve gave Bucky a tight hug before they left to get their tickets.
"You okay, Steve?"
"Yes and no. I don't want to go with them, but I also worry about Bucky. And I feel guilty that I'm not doing my...I guess my duty."
"Steve, you gave the world so much. It's okay to do what you want." Natasha smiled at him and his heart raced. "I didn't want you to go either."
"I know, sweetheart." He gave her a quick peck. "Let's fly home to our munchkin."
Natasha took his hand and led him to the private area of the airport. "Let's go home."
