Ada's speech near the end of the chapter is not one of my creations and does not belong to me. All the credits go to the Greys Anatomy scriptwriters. I made a few tiny changes but that's it.
It makes more sense why I'm using this speech if you've watched the TikTok series but don't feel obliged.
*Based on 'Flashback 1' of my Tiktok series*
Asshole:
None of the clocks in the compound had worked since the day Steve had confessed to cheating. No matter how many new ones Tony bought, they all cracked or went crazy as soon as they walked through the front door. The only way people could find out the time was by asking someone outside of the compound or asking Ada herself. As the Goddess of Time, she knew the times of every time zone in the universe automatically - it was hardwired into her brain.
Despite being a complete and utter wreck, Ada was strong. Her mother had raised her to be strong. No matter what she was feeling, she would honour her mother's memory and stand her ground, not letting her enemies know what was happening in her brain. On the outside, she was the epitome of cold and composed but on the inside, she was a boiling pot of rage and sadness and only the people who truly knew her knew what she was feeling.
"Ada, that's enough."
Surprised by the voice that interrupted her thoughts, she turned away in her seat, coming face to face with Tony. She was currently in a bar - one of the furthest ones away from the compound she could find - and had just started drinking her 8th glass of alcohol. She was still disgustingly sober, however, and very much aware of the dull pain that had been there since her mother had been murdered and had worsened since Steve's admittance to cheating. Sometimes, she hated being Asgardian.
Turning away from the man, she took another swig from her glass."I haven't the slightest clue what you're talking about, Tony"
Tony shook his head before sitting down next to her. Before Ada could even blink, he had grabbed her drink and was calling the bartender over. Making a grab for it, she nearly fell from her chair, only stopped by the strong hand that landed on her shoulder. Not allowing herself to feel embarrassed, Ada gave him a sarcastic smile before holding out her hand in an impatient request for her drink. Looking at her hand, Tony shook his head before calling over a bartender.
"No more drinks for the lady tonight."
Ada's mouth dropped open in shock. "Tony, what the hell!"
The bartender hesitated, clearly recognising the two of them, before nodding and taking her drink from Tony's hand. He poured it down the sink behind him and moved onto the next customer. Turning to Tony angrily, Ada's hand had already reached for her necklace before she could truly think about it. The small, gold necklace had been given to her by her mother when she started to learn how to control her powers and, while it looked unsuspecting, it actually acted like Thor's hammer although it was also quite different. Her brother's hammer channelled his powers, while her necklace grounded her powers. Without it, she would lose control and her powers would be a tangled mess.
Before she could get a hold of it, her hand was grabbed by the man in front of her. As if shock out of a trance, Ada jumped, looking down at her hand in shock before looking back up at Tony with apologetic eyes. Thankfully, he seemed to understand and, once he knew she wasn't going to grab it, let go.
"Don't let him break your morals, Ada. You're a good person and you don't deserve what he did to you."
Stiffening for a moment, Ada sighed, bringing her hands back to lie in her lap. Tony was right, her anger at Steve was taking over her entire being. She had once said she would never manipulate time unless it was completely necessary and yet she had almost done it to get back at Tony for taking away her alcohol. She needed to sort herself out - immediately.
"Sorry, Tony"
Smiling, Tony clapped her on the shoulder. "Don't apologise. You're a wreck but, let's be honest, who on the Avengers isn't? We care about you and, despite what you think, we know about your... habits-"
Ada instantly felt all the blood drain out of her face as she grasped for an excuse"I can explain-"
"I'm not judging. Until I got with Pepper, I slept around - much more than you have, I promise. I'm just looking out for you - you're an Avenger and extremely well know. I don't want you to be taken advantage of"
Ada nodded, her white face now flushed with red. She had had a few 1-night stands since her break up with Steve. Well, more than a few. Usually, she went home with a hook-up every Saturday - the day that she went to the bar. It was obvious that people most likely slept with her for the bragging rights, but she didn't care. It gave her an allotted amount of time, depending on how long the hook-up lasted, to forget about Steve and allow herself to relax and lose control. There were no regrets but she was embarrassed that potentially the whole team knew about it.
Tony smiled, standing up from his seat. "Ok, I'm glad we talked about it. You had us all worried, especially Wanda - you might want to talk to her by the way. Do you think you can make it back to the compound or do you want to come with me?"
"I'll talk to her. Thank you for the offer but I think the press would have a field day if they saw you carrying me back home. Can you imagine the titles?"
Tony laughed, patting her on the shoulder again before turning away and walking out. Sighing, Ada waited for a few minutes, tapping her nails against the bar, before getting up and following in Tony's footsteps. He was already gone by the time she stepped outside of the bar but she wasn't surprised, he probably went to reassure everyone else that she was ok and coming back soon.
She had only been stood there for a few seconds before she realised she was attracting a crowd of overexcited reporters and intoxicated fans. Before they could get any closer, she panicked and used her powers to push herself into the air. It was a small trick her mother had taught her, as she wasn't able to use her pendulum to fly as Thor could with his hammer. Allowing herself to calm down, Ada manoeuvred herself so she was flying forwards, the wind blowing her hair out of her bun in seconds.
She never used it unless she was in the middle of a fight but she thought using it to escape being bombarded by crowds of people was a good excuse. Besides, she would arrive at the compound faster than taking a taxi.
Surprisingly, Ada arrived at the compound not so long after Tony, both of them waving at each other as he flew through an open window. Sighing, she rubbed her eyes as she walked towards the entrance, only realising too late that someone was standing in her way. Her head bounced off their chest as she collided with them.
"Allfather, I'm sorry! Are you okay-? Steve?"
Looking up, Ada had realised it was Steve she had bumped into, standing there with his arms crossed, staring at her as if she was a naughty kid who had gotten caught with her hand in the sweet jar. She stared at him, bewildered, as he scoffed, shaking his head at her confusion.
His voice was dripping with disdain as he spoke and Ada couldn't help but take a step back as she heard it. Steve never spoke like this to her, even in the weeks following her breakup. "What are you doing here so early? I thought you'd be off crawling into bed with a stranger you picked up at the bar like a common whore"
Ada's mouth dropped, her eyebrows rising in shock. Did he seriously just say that? To her face? She barely had a chance to defend herself before he was speaking again.
"I mean, who's next - Tony? I heard he likes to sleep around. You two have that in common, right? Might catch something though - if you haven't already, that is"
Ada felt her anger simmering, ready to boil over the edge, but she'd be damned if she let him see it. He wanted her to explode and let her magic loose. He wanted her to lose control. Clenching her fists, she chose the easy, less painful way to let out her anger.
Drawing her arm back, she punched him perfectly in the jaw before he could even realise she had moved. A normal punch from a normal person and Steve wouldn't have even flinched but an angry punch from an angry Asgardian and he was flying through the air, landing on the floor a few feet away with a loud clatter, his breath pushed out of his lungs with an audible 'Oomph'.
The crash had caught the attention of the other inhabitants, all of them running into the room with weapons drawn. Skidding to a stop at the sight of Steve laying on the floor, they only had to take one look at Ada to realise what happened. Only a few put away their weapons.
Shaking her head, Ada walked up to where her ex-boyfriend lay, looking down on him with pity as she gave a dry chuckle. Despite the laugh, it was very obvious that she was not amused as she squatted down, looking Steve in the eye.
"You don't get to call me a whore. You have no right to call me a whore, whatsoever." Several of the onlooker's mouths dropped. "When I met you, Steve, I thought I had found the person I was going to spend the rest of my life with. I was done."
Steve lifted his head, looking up at her with wide eyes. Seeming to forget his pain, he shuffled backwards as he watched her eyes well up with unshed tears. Ada followed him, not giving him the comfort of personal space.
Lifting her hand to rest on his cheek, Ada rubbed her thumb against the large bruise that was forming on his cheek and eye. "So all the flirting and all the alcohol and all the obvious daddy issues - who cared? Because I was done"
It was silent for a short second that felt like hours. Steve shuffled where he lay, opening his mouth to speak but he was cut off as Ada slid her hand up his face, weaving her fingers in his hair. The only noise was their breathing until Ada's grip on his hair tightened, making him yell out in pain as she yanked him closer to her. She didn't stop until her lips grazed the shell of his ear.
Her voice was barely a whisper as she spoke directly into his ear but, somehow, the other members still heard her. "You. Left. Me. You chose Sharon. I'm all glued back together now and I will not apologise for how I chose to repair what you broke. You don't get to call me a whore"
Before Steve could respond, Ada walked away. Her shoulder brushed several of the other Avengers, ignoring the people who called out to her. She only paused when she saw Wanda out of the corner of her eye. It was silent for a few seconds before Ada reached out and grabbed her friend's hand, linking their fingers together before walking off.
Refusing to look at Wanda, not wanting her to see the tears that were pouring down her cheeks, Ada simply took comfort in the company that her friend gave her. Wanda must have understood this because she didn't say anything, simply allowing herself to be pulled along.
Ada refused to let Steve hurt her anymore, he had done enough of that. She was a Goddess, born with her powers. He was nothing more than a lab rat and had never been worthy of her love so she'd be damned if she let him affect her any more than he already had.
Enough was enough.
A/N:
Just to give you an insight into how old Ada is, to make her 21 in human years, I messed around with some numbers until I finally reached 1,302 divided by 62 (I took 62 from a calculation someone else did while figuring out human and Asgardian age differences) which equals exactly 21.
So Ada is 21 in human years
And
1,302 in Asgardian years.
I had to change Loki's and Thor's ages to cooperate with this but my story doesn't follow the MCU timeline so it's fine.
Loki:
26 in human years
1,643 in Asgardian years
Thor:
30 in human years
1,876 in Asgardian years
Hope you enjoyed this chapter!
