I can't stand for Lin Beifong to not be a bender anymore, so I wrote a quick fic of how she gets it back. I don't care how it happens in the series, but it had better happen... I haven't proofed it at all, because I just wanted to get it out, but maybe I'll come back to it later.

Meanwhile, Mako and Korra have been separated from Bolin and Asami by fanatical Equalist troops. They are mere blocks from the city center, but it might as well be on the moon. This is the beginning of the end.

Lin Beifong is fifteen when she first asks her mother for a private tutor. Toph is flabbergasted. "Why would you want a tutor?" she demands. "You know how to read and write. Cocooned in his sinewy warmth, tangled in pristine white sheets, she could fantasize of the forbidden. She could pretend. He slumbered on. "I love you." Silence. She didn't expect a response.

There is nothing more painful than a living reminder of someone you loved who is gone. It's a frustrating feeling to see who's life is spared in place of hers. Though Mako suffers on the inside, he sees that life is never lost, but continues on, even in the most unexpected forms. A hint of bittersweet Makorra...
