It began with a cry.
A desperate wail piercing through the darkness.
He probably should ignore it. The messenger said he'd get a sibling tonight, if he wasn't home soon he'd upset his mother.
But…
Another cry.
He sighed.
Surely just a few minutes wouldn't matter.
He followed the wails deeper into the forest, something more than curiosity lured him. No one came to this part of the forest, even the animals tended to avoid it, this was one of his favorite places. Here he could meditate, train, or just simply be alone.
But he wasn't alone tonight.
"…A baby?"
