"Ah, brilliant," muttered Ginny sarcastically the day after the battle, when she and Luna were eating breakfast at what had once been a table for Hufflepuffs. "Lovely. Victory. Happiness and all that."

"He's going to talk to you, you know that," Luna told her softly. "He's really upset and worried and sad right now, and I think you should give him some time and space."

"I don't want time and space, I want Harry to stop being a prat and tell me whether he wants me anymore!" snapped Ginny, furious tears trickling down her cheeks. She wiped them away roughly and glared in Harry's direction. "Stupid Harry. Stupid me. Out of all the boys in Britain, I pick the one who goes off and saves the Wizarding World." Luna squeezed her hand. Ginny looked down at Luna's hand as if it were alien, and then smiled weakly. "Thanks, Luna."

"Oh, not at all," replied Luna. "Love is very strange. The boy I am in love with believes me slightly insane."

Ginny laughed. "You aren't insane! You're...sort of an acquired taste."

"Yes, I told him that," sighed Luna.

It suddenly occurred to Ginny who Luna might be talking about, and she whispered in a stunned voice, "Not that Scamander bloke? The one who rattles off useless information?"

"Yes," said Luna. "He has a good heart and he loves what he does. It is rare that, in this day and age, you find boys like that."

"I'll tell you what," said Ginny enthusiastically. "I know Scamander pretty well, and even if he thinks you're mad he's got a heart with your initials on it etched into the back of every single textbook. He's mad for you. How about you go over and snog him? Right now? Be a little impromptu? He'd adore that."

Luna looked at her for a moment, and then she gave Ginny a curious little half-smile that made the redhead feel like she'd overlooked a crucial bit of information. "I can't do that. You know Rolf, he's not very good with public displays of affection. I'll do it later, but only if you go over right now and kiss Harry."

Ginny let out a strangled gasp of air before her eyes hardened with determination and resolve. She stuck out her hand and Luna shook it, the latter's silver eyes sparkling with mirth.

And then she stood up with a horrible feeling in her stomach before striding over to Harry, stopping to stare at him nervously across the Ravenclaw table, where he was sitting.

"Ginny!" said Harry enthusiastically, standing up and half-glancing at Ron before adding, "We really need to-"

Ginny leaned across the table (thankfully no one was sitting across from Harry; most people had chosen to go home instead of spend the night at Hogwarts), grabbed the front of Harry's robes in her hands, and kissed him full on the mouth.

It was one of the most passionate kisses that she had ever given, and unfortunately it was also one of the shortest. After about two seconds of utter bliss it occurred to Ginny that she was fiercely snogging Harry in front of her brother and pretty much the entire Great Hall. She pulled back. Harry was grinning a little stupidly, and Ginny grinned back before hurrying to the Hufflepuff table and sitting down next to a proudly smiling Luna.

"There, you see?" said Ginny in a whisper, hoping that Harry couldn't hear her. "Victory."

Luna giggled.

And yes, she did kiss Rolf later, but that's another story.
