"Mr. Kishatsu! Do you have a good reason to be sleeping in my class?!" Said the teacher quite angry at the student who's not paying attention, instead taking a nap on the desk.

The boy got up, quite groggy. "But, this is mind-numbingly boring..."

The teacher's eyebrows twitched. "Well, if it's so boring, you shouldn't have a problem answering now, will you?" the teacher said with a hint of sassiness in her voice.

"Fine, but, If I answer it correctly, can I sleep for the rest of the lesson?". That's right, Ryūno was quite the bold one, especially when it came to academics, he wasn't a genius by any means, in fact, he was barely qualified for top ten. Still, compared to most boys in age, he wasn't lacking in terms of wits.

Ryūno sat up and went to answer on the board, this was history class, not something he necessarily hated, in fact, it was one of the more interesting lessons for him, learning how humanity had evolved and progressed over thousands of years was actually fascinating to him, he knew humans were at the top of the food chain, the smartest beings that lived on planet Earth, well...more so. He held humanity to a high standard, in short, meaning he also expected a lot from other people. That wasn't to say he wasn't prideful himself, in his personal opinion, he had decent looks, especially for a boy his age. He thought that anyone could look good with a bit of effort, that's why he took very good care of his body. He always exercised, after school, he'd always do cardio, sit-ups, crunches, and a lot of pullups, Ryūno always thought they were the best form of exercise. He wasn't a body-builder by any means, he did the bare minimum he needed to keep his lean and aesthetically pleasing body.

"The Cold War ended in 1991...". Ryūno wrote on the board.

"Tch, next time, I expect you to pay attention, you probably got lucky anyways. Just...please, pay attention to class, you're smart, but don't let your arrogance get in the way of academics, okay?" The teacher said hopefully.

"Yeah, whatever...Half of this I'm not even going to use in the future, anyway..." Ryūno said in his usual boredom filled unenthusiastic voice.

"Oh, really? And what is it that you wanna become, Mr. Kishatsu?" The teacher asked.

"Beats me, I haven't thought that far ahead...yet. I'll just go with the flow, I'm sure some rich company would want someone like me, anyway, people are too blinded by greed to see someone's faults, whether they are noticeable or not." Ryūno replied.

This was his 6th lesson, the last one was going to be Physical Education, this is actually one of the classes he didn't sleep in...Not that he had the choice.

Ryūno kept this lesson above all else, knowledge was important, but taking care of yourself was just if not more important to Ryūno. After all, without strength, knowledge is useless. Ryūno always thought that. In P.E, he was considered to be the top dog. He towered over every other boy in class, at just 13 years old, he was faster than some adults, and had more strength than an average senior in high school. He was no joke, and he took pride in that.

It had made him one of the most popular kids in school, if not the most popular in his town. A lot of people looked up to him and admired him, though he wasn't an extrovert, he did hang out with some of his classmates from time to time, whilst cocky, he wasn't a complete jerk. He actually helped people when they really needed it, he especially disliked bullies. He worshipped pride, but blind arrogance to him was worth as much as the dirt on his shoes.

Timeskip to the end of lessons.

Ryūno walked as he watched the sun, the blue sky was beyond pleasing to him. He would get really happy when the weather was clear, and really sad when it rained. He didn't dislike rain when he was indoors, however. In fact, he liked the sounds of the water droplets hitting his window. It made him feel at ease while studying, which he didn't do much...He read books, he wanted to experience how other people had lived, how they weren't as fortunate as him, it reminded him that whilst his life was boring to him, it could've always been worse.

"...It's not that I'm ungrateful, it's just that, my life...I face little to no problems with it, everyone always talked about how they struggle, how they have family problems, grades falling...I wish I could experience a struggle. It'd give me a reason to live, It'd give me reason to be determined to fix something. Maybe, just maybe in the future, I'll be able to fix the world. With my intelligence, I could probably save lives, and such..." Ryūno said, sounding somewhat depressed.

He wasn't depressed, just bored beyond belief. He cherished his life, but currently, there was nothing for him to do, at the age of 13, what can you expect? You're not allowed to vote, make changes to economy, basically, all the things Ryūno wanted to do to this world.

"Honestly, I wished something...interesting would happen." Ryūno said as he went home, or...his so-called home.

Ryūno lived in an orphanage, that's right. He had never met his mother or father. He didn't even know if they were alive, however, he didn't care that much anymore. He felt bad for some of the orphaned kids there. They didn't look all that happy as he was, why? This is one of the things Ryūno didn't have the pleasure of understanding. Why...do people have so many problems in life? Why aren't they like him? Ryūno thought to himself not out of arrogance for once...but out of pity and curiosity.

"Hello, Ms. Akane!" He said to his caretaker. Despite what most people might think, he actually respected teachers, caretakers, and adults overall. He understood whilst most of them are strict, demanded utmost obedience, it was for a reason. Ryūno despised spoiled brats, rich or in poverty, he believed that you should be grateful for what you have, little or big, there was always a person that had less than you do.

"Hello Ryūno, how'd school go, did you sleep well?" Ms. Akane said giggling. She knew of Ryūno's...antics. Whilst she didn't encourage them, she did understand why he was the way he is. No parents to teach him discipline, too smart for his own good, and good looking, what didn't this kid have?

"It went surprisingly quicker than expected. I just wanted to ask you, can I go outside? I wanna look at the sun before it sets, it's not every day we get beautiful weather like this." Ryūno said with a slight smile on his face. It was true, he didn't have the luxury of seeing clear weather often, courtesy of Japan.

"Okay, don't take too long. Be back before 10 PM, understood?" Ms. Akane said. Ryūno was allowed to stay out a little longer, since he was a smarter kid, he could hold his own better, and not be an idiot and stay out longer. The orphanage was scared to let out kids outside late. They were afraid that some of them might run away, or worse...

"Yes, ma'am." Ryūno took discipline very seriously, he tried hard not to come off as a brat. Which surprisingly in most of the adults' eyes, worked.

Timeskip to Ryūno going outside.

Ryūno finally caught a breath of fresh air, enjoying the silence of no person being out this late. He had felt...weird. He felt something on his left arm. Almost like...a burning sensation? He thought it was from his exercises, he got muscle soreness often, so he didn't pay much attention to that. All of a sudden, a weird-looking gauntlet appears on his arm, with a sensation that his arm is going to literally melt off. He shook his arm, screaming from the pain, which soon had stopped for some reason. That's when Ryūno had heard a demanding voice echo in his mind...

"Greetings...young one." The voice said in his head.

"What is this, is this some sick dream? What's going on...?!" Ryūno said somewhat scared and shocked at the same time.

"Hush, you are more than fine. My name is Doragonzu." The voice echoed.

"...Doragonzu? Doesn't that mean "Dragon Emperor?" and how are you inside of my head?" Ryūno asked, calming down a bit.

"Hmph, so you're not some dim-wit after all. You've taken this better than most people, ya know." Doragonzu said.

"Taken...what better? What are you, exactly?"

"Well, I am...a dragon. Now, I realize I have a lot of explaining to do, so I'll get on with it. Tell me...boy. Do you know something called, The Supernatural?" Doragonzu asked his newly found host.

"Huh? Well, of course...They're mythical beings that have supposedly roamed the universe, angels, fallen angels, and devils...many more as well. I've read books about them, I'm quite a bored individual, so I read a lot. Whether it's fiction or not, the supernatural world does sound quite interesting. Wait...you don't mean?!"

"Yes, boy. They exist. All of them. Satan, God, The three factions, and dragons..." Doragonzu said.

Ryūno looked like he was nearly going to pass out. God, Satan, Dragons?! These mythical beings he had read about, actually existed?! Ryūno breathed in and out. He wanted to ask his new "friend" some questions about the supernatural.

"So, are the books accurate?"

"Hmm?" Doragonzu hummed at his host.

"I mean, the human books. How much did we get right and wrong?"

Doragonzu burst out laughing at his host. "Haha, you got nearly EVERYTHING wrong."

"Well, that's reassuring. Can you tell me about the supernatural word in detail, then?"

"Of course, allow me to start with the great war..."

Timeskip to Doragonzu explaining the great war.

"The three factions, and they had an all-out war? Maybe they aren't that different from humans."

"Indeed they aren't boy, they're powerful, but just as selfish and greedy." Doragonzu said.

"I'm not like that!" Ryūno said, somewhat offended by Doragonzu's comment on humanity.

"Maybe not, but you're still an arrogant brat. Either way, you're stuck with me now. We're gonna need to train, to get stronger. You want to hold humanity to a higher standard? So be it, let us get stronger, together." Doragonzu said to Ryūno, with determination in his voice.

"Besides, we're gonna need it, you're now gonna be a prime target for fallen angels and devils, so you'll need to be prepared."

"Huh, why?" Ryūno said, he got quite interested.

"Because of greed and power-hungry leaders as well as brats. That's why. They're gonna want to recruit you, what you have is a very special gift boy, I highly suggest you treasure it and use it carefully." Doragonzu said.

Finally, some thrill. Was this all a joke? Was this fake? Couldn't have been a dream...he hasn't had one of those in a while. Seeing as how this could've been his one chance to make his life interesting once more...he agreed.

"All right then, Doragonzu, let's get to work, the two of us...May our bond and gratitude be wide like the ocean, and our spark as bright as the sun..."

To be continued...
