In 1905 in a dig in Egypt a group of British researchers would make a pair of outstanding discoveries permanently changing the understanding of mankind. A large stone ring would be found under a broken cover-stone while at the same time 20 kilometres away a small pedestal was found with the symbols on the ring carved into buttons on it.
Both artefacts would be taken back to London and sent to the British museum however, during the opening night an accident would take place that would change mankind's destiny forever. During the reveal a young man would trip and accidently hit one of the buttons on the pedestal causing the ring to spin until the recurring symbol would reach one of the chevrons and would lock in. The man would then press an anther button and the same would happen he would then press five more and when he pressed the final button a triangle with a circle overhead after that he would place his hand on the large red button in the centre. A large 'swoosh' would tear forth form the ring after it receded a puddle of a material that looked like water. The nearest archaeologist would write down the symbols pressed for future reference as the army moved to seize the strange artefact.
The military would seize the device and move it to the Scottish Highlands alongside all researchers on it and the list of symbols that had been pressed to activate the newly named Bermudan ring after the Bermuda triangle this name would not last for long. It was decided to send a small military force through the ring once activated to test if it was a possible method of travel. On the 11th of October 1905, the ring would be activated and a squad of five men go through alongside the archaeologist who had written down the address for the first dialling. The address would be dialled, and the men sent through to spread the British Empire to far flung lands.

When the forces that would eventually become the first Imperial Interstellar exploratory team or IIE-T arrived on the world we now call New Windsor they had no idea on the changes and influences that they had just done. To them they had entered a ruined castle in the heart of one of the worst storms that any of them had ever experienced. As they moved further into the castle the soldiers would come across the heart of the complex. The meeting room of the alliance of the Four Great Races that had dominated the galaxy millennia ago with the writing system of the Asgard proving similar to Old Norse the seeds of the uplifting theory was born.
At the centre of the room was the Lantean computer that has proved so useful to Humanity and the Empire. As the military members of the squad moved out to scout out the rest of the castle the Archaeologist Harold St George Gray moved forward and pressed into the pedestal that looked similar to the DHD that had transported him to this strange place. The floating clouds of light did not mean much to him at the time however in this lone discovery would advance humanity incredibly quickly as the secrets of the universe were unlocked by Humanity. As Harold St George Gray began to experiment with the computer his team members reached the battlements of the castle and looked onto the world that they had discovered.
The part of New Windsor that they had arrived on was harsh and rocky with large mountains nearby towering over the two men who had found the stairs to the battlements. As the storm began to fade around them the stars of the world began to emerge as did the two moons and the realisation that something was terribly wrong. As they rushed back to find the rest of their team Harold St George Gray had managed to come across a holographic presentation of the Ancients alongside the stargate address to their homeworld in this galaxy.
As the team slowly gathered around the holographic display the Stargate began to dial from Earth as the British authorities had ordered a check up on the team and the wireless operator got to work. As the information that they had was sent back to Earth a demand was made for one of the men to return to earth. As the team argued over who to send Harold St George Gray tripped while pacing and accidently threw a matchbox he was carrying into the Stargate. The Radio operator requested that the matchbox be returned only to learn that the matchbox had not arrived. As the information was processed a suggestion was made that Gate travel was only one way.

After the discovery of the Gray effect the first IIE-T began to experiment with trying to get home pressing every combination they could think off until Harold St George Gray pointed out that the Hologram that they had seen earlier had taken on the form of a human and maybe the Gate address that had appeared next to it had been Earth. The fellow members of the squad saw no reason to not try it out. The combination was pressed in and the gate activated, and the first interstellar colony of the British Empire was connected once more to the motherland.

When the men sent to New Windsor returned the Edward VII called the Prime Minister Arthur Balfour, First Lord of the Admiralty Fredrick Campbell, Chief of the General Staff Sir Neville Lyttelton and the prince of Wales to Buckingham Palace to discuss the effects of the Stargate and the way to proceed from this as the stargate was already public knowledge. The military heads were in favour of restricting information and making any efforts undertaken with it being purely military in nature while the Prince of Wales and Arthur Balfour were in support of the effort being civilian led both aimed to convince the King.
For three days the debate would be held with the Military arguing that there may be hostile elements on other planets and worlds while the Prime Minister and Prince of Wales argued that the Stargate as it had been renamed offered massive potential for expansion of the British Empire both economically and possibly technologically. While Ser Neville suggested that the world's claimed under the program could be used as prisons for problematic elements in the Colonies and Dominions. On the third day the King decided on two things one the Stargate and its abilities were to be made public second that all of the leaders of the Dominions and major Colonies were to be summoned to London as soon as possible to discuss the Stargate program. As the Military grumbled, they had no idea the effects that the decision just made had on their beloved Empire.

"As all of you know three weeks ago in the British Museum an ancient Ring structure was activated creating a substance similar to water. Following this the Artefact was confiscated by the Military and taken to the Highlands, a week later a team of five men were sent through the device in an experiment to see if this device could be used to travel. The ring transported the men to another planet following a string of good luck the men managed to return to Earth via the same ring which we have decided to name the Stargate. After a series of debates within the palace it has been decided to make these events public and to officially announce that the world that we have visited has officially been claimed by the British Empire and named New Windsor."
