Glynda sat on her couch, going through her the tests her students had just taken and she was not impressed. She understood that studying wasn't the most fun thing to do, but it was a necessity in order to become a great hunter. So far, the highest grade she gave on the tests was an 88, no A's in sight and would really have to let her students know. Glynda was soon distracted from her grading when a voice called out, "um Mom?". She then glanced over to see her son, Jaune, looking at her with a worried expression on his face. Jaune was only 11 years old but was adamant about joining the academy she worked at and becoming a hunter. He practiced every night with a wooden odachi until he was old enough to make a real weapon, and begged his mother to teach him new things about being a huntsman, even though she was very busy a lot of the time. Glynda saw Jaune's concern on his face and addressed him, "yes Jaune? What is the matter sweetheart?", wondering why he was so concerned. Jaune figited a bit and held out his hand, "well…it's about this", then a green circle appeared in Jaune's hand and soon grew to be a giant bubble surrounding the living room. Glynda's eyes grew to the size of saucer's, it was if her son was some sort of magician. "Then there is also this mom…", Jaune said while looking at his mother and then he somehow teleported to the other side of the room.
Glynda watched in amazement and happiness, as she told Jaune how he could possibly do what he just did. "Jaune do you realize what this means?!", she said excitedly and saw that her son shook his head. She answered with a grin, "You have awakened your semblance! Not even a teenager and you are well on your way to becoming a huntsman!" "Wow, really?!" Jaune answered, but then asked his mother, "so does this mean I will be able to go to a combat school soon?". Glynda smiled at her son and said, "Yes, when you are of age you can go to pre-huntsman academy and if you do really well you can apply to Beacon. Remember one thing Jaune, just because I am a huntress and deputy headmistress of Beacon, does not mean you will get a free pass. You have to work hard and be your own person, not just in my shadow." Jaune nodded in acknowledgement, "of course mom, I don't wanna cause any trouble for you and I want people to see me for me. However, can you still train me?" Glynda smiled at her son, "of course dear, even though I will be busy with my work at Beacon, I will still help you. I am your mother after all, it is my duty." Jaune smiled happily and said, "Thanks mom! I promise I will not let you down!"
Glynda couldn't believe it had been 6 years since that day, and she and her son would see more of each other as he will be attending Beacon. When Jaune was 14, Glynda enrolled him into Kingslaive Academy, close to their home and was ranked Number 2 of the beginner academies right behind Sanctum. Being so smart and having survived Glynda's exercises when he was younger, Jaune was able to graduate at the top of his class. He also excelled in combat, as his wooden odachi was replaced with an odachi he created that had dust elements as well. The sword was pretty long and Jaune decided it was more comfortable to carry it instead of putting it on his belt or something like that. While at his academy Jaune was able to create his unique fighting style that used his semblance in very key situations, such as to get the enemy off guard or to handle a lot of grimm. Glynda was very sure that Jaune was ready for Beacon, and when he got his acceptance letter, it was icing on the cake. The one thing Glynda was worried about was Jaune's social skills as he didn't have a lot of friends when he was at Kingslaive. A lot of kids hated that he was so smart and some even felt like he didn't earn his strength since his mother was the deputy headmistress at Beacon and thought she had pulled strings. That couldn't be farther than the truth however, and it made Glynda very angry. She only hoped that Beacon would be different for Jaune and that he would make friends and a lot of memories here. Part of her hoped that he would take those earrings out of his ears but Jaune made it clear that they were staying in no matter how hard she tried to take them out. Glynda looked at the incoming bullheads with anticipation, knowing that her son was on one of them.
Jaune couldn't believe the day had finally come, it was opening day at Beacon Academy! He couldn't believe that he had actually gotten in, even though his mother was the Deputy Headmistress it didn't mean a damn thing. After going through it at Kingslaive, he needed a fresh start to his life. No more academy drama, gossip, or people giving him crap about how he was lucky and not strong, doubting his abilities. It was because of all this that he wasn't very social, so here he was now standing in the corner of the bullhead with his arms crossed and eyes closed, sword in hand. He was wearing his black cargo pants, black t-shirt, and had his zip-up black jacket on. The jacket had a graphic face on the side giving him a distinct look. He also had earrings in his ears, as he told his mother it gave him a more mature look. His mother didn't like them at all, but after Jaune aced a very hard test at his academy she had let him keep them. Jaune being extremely laid back didn't pay attention to the chatter around him nor to a few girls that were looking his way, giggling about him. "Probably making fun of my coat…" Jaune thought to himself, he was always judged for something stupid back at Kingslaive so why should things be different now? The bullhead had finally landed, Jaune took his time getting out as he didn't want to get trampled by the crowd. He exited the ship and looked at the masterpiece that was Beacon Academy. He had been here a few times sure, but there was something special about being at Beacon as a student instead of the Deputy Headmistress' son. He started to walk to the auditorium, wondering how the next few years would go, and suddenly heard a large explosion. He turned his head to see a girl in white yelling at a girl dressed in black with a red hood who looked terrified. Jaune thought it over in his head about helping the girl in black, and his righteous side won out. Giving a sigh he turned around, "This oughta be good…", Jaune said not looking forward to this encounter.
