Issue #1: The Mysterious Savior

Matsutafu Prefecture, late Friday night….

It was late, around 10:26PM. A young Heroine-in-training named Ochako Uraraka, also known by her Hero name, Uravity, was walking from the train station back to her apartment after a long day of hero study/training at UA, the top Hero training school in Japan. She was tired and looking forward to a peaceful night's sleep. Normally she wouldn't be getting home so late, but a few of her friends wanted to celebrate and grab dinner. And for good reason!

It was the beginning of her second year at UA and she'd made so many happy memories. She'd made friends, got to learn from some of the greatest Superheroes of all time, and she was on her way to achieving her goal of becoming a Hero to help support her parents, just as she'd planned. She felt a bit selfish, wanting to become a Hero for the paycheck, but she really wanted to help her parents and give them a more comfortable life, like they deserved. But she also wanted to be a Hero so she could help people, something she loved doing, ever since she was a little girl.

Suddenly, she heard a noise just above her. She looked up and spotted a strange, shadowy figure jump from one rooftop to another then disappear.

'What... who was that? A new Hero on night patrol?' She was so lost in thought, she didn't see what was coming next.

As if out of nowhere, she felt something cold, what felt like metal cables, encircle her wrists and drag her into an alleyway! She let out a scream of fright and shock. Loud enough for the mysterious figure from before to hear. He stopped in his tracks, turning back and running in the direction of the frightened scream he'd just heard. Determined to help whoever it was who needed his help!

It happened so fast! She needed a second to regain her focus. Despite how dark it was, she got a good look at the one who had just abducted her. He was tall, wearing a black outfit consisting of a muscle shirt and long pants, and the metal coils binding her wrists and lifting her off the ground were protruding from the top of the man's wrists. With two more coils coming from the bottom of his wrists, one wrapped over her mouth to prevent her from screaming again. The other with a sharp tip forming at the end, aimed at her neck.

"None of that now..." He said in a hushed voice. His eyes were bloodshot with no visible pupils or irises, his hair was white and spikey, and his face had a crazed grin full of sharp pointed teeth. "All I want... is to see you bleed... can you do that for me?"

Ochako was terrified, but her self-defense training immediately kicked in. She swung herself forward and kicked her abductor in the face! She then tried to use her Quirk on him, hoping to make him float, the idea being the momentary confusion would allow her to break out of his hold. But it was no use... he tightened his grip on her wrists, keeping her hands apart, making it impossible for her to use her Quirk! The villain also bound her legs with his fourth coil, making it impossible for her to kick him again!

"AH... YOU FUCKING... BITCH!"

He tightened his grip even more, causing Ochako to gasp in agony! His face etched with crazed anger!

"That wasn't nice!"

He pulled her closer to him, his face mere inches from hers.

"Just for that, I'm gonna make this even MORE painful for you!"

She shut her eyes, terrified of what was about to happen, bracing herself for the worst! But then...

*POW*

At what sounded like something making an impact, Ochako opened her eyes to see someone wearing a green costume kicking her attacker in the face! With that one kick, the man's coils lost their grip on her wrists, dropping Ochako, sending him flying backwards!

She collapsed to the ground, still shaken by what had just happened, only to bear witness to her mysterious rescuer, flipping backward off her attacker's face, landing on his backside on the ground. He quickly got back on his feet and the Coil Villain fell to the ground, disoriented by what just happened. The criminal shook it off, got back onto his feet, and turned to face the masked figure with rage in his pupiless eyes!

"YOU LITTLE SHIT!"

With that, the villain lashed at the masked figure with one of his coils! The young man crossed his arms to cover his head. The Coil Villain kept lashing at his opponent, thinking he was winning. Only to stare in utter shock when the masked figure finally dodged and grabbed the coil with both hands and pulled!

The next thing the villain knew, he was being pulled forward, only to receive a solid punch to the face, knocking him backwards! He was then pulled back up, this time receiving an uppercut to his jaw! Then pulled once again, receiving a spinning elbow to cheek! He was pulled toward the masked stranger once more, this time receiving a rather hard knee to the stomach, causing him to vomit! And finally, an elbow to the back of the head, rendering him unconscious! With that, the Coil Villain was knocked out cold and fell to the ground.

Ochako watched as the masked figure proceeded to bind the criminal's arms and legs using…. zip-ties? Then he dragged the villain over to a fire escape. He hopped up, pulled the ladder down, and tied the villain up against it, using the man's own coils, in a tight and rather convoluted knot.

After he finished, the mysterious stranger turned around to face the person he'd just rescued. It was then Ochako finally got a good look at her rescuer, despite the darkness of the ally-way. He was only slightly taller than her by a few inches and had a thin frame. She'd guessed he must have been stronger than he looked under that costume of his, given that display of strength against the villain, who was twice his size.

Speaking of which, his costume was…. unique. Comprised of what looked like a jumpsuit that was one size too big on him, which was green with white accents, with a white gloves, a red belt with several pouches, black elbow and knee pads, a pair of red boots, and an... interesting looking mask, with what she thought looked like rabbit ears extending from the top pointing toward the back, that covered his head, with the lower half of his face covered by a strange-looking black mouthpiece with what looked like "teeth" painted across the jawline, forming what looked like a big friendly grin.

He quickly rushed over to her with a worried look in his eyes. Once he was in front of her, he extended his hand to her.

"Are you alright, Miss?"

Ochako met his eyes, then slowly reached out, and placed her hand in his, keeping her pinky lifted so as to not accidentally activate her Quirk. The young man helped her to stand, her legs still shaking from being attacked by the crazed villain. She fell forward, only for her rescuer to catch her. She regained her footing, standing upright.

She took a closer look at his face. It was then she noticed his mouthpiece was slightly transparent, his nose and mouth could be seen through it. She also noticed his eyes were uncovered, letting her see that they were green. Seeing his worried expression, she finally found her voice.

"Y-yeah. I'm... I'm okay." She then grinned with excitement. "My Hero! Thank you so much for saving me!"

The green-clad boy was taken aback by the girl's sudden excitement…. as well as her calling him her- 'Hero?!'

"You were amazing! Seriously! How you caught his coils and pulled him then punched him like a paddle-ball! That was so cool!"

The young man suddenly became extremely flustered from hearing her praise him. "O-oh! Uh, uh... y-you're w-welc-come. I-I'm, uh... happy I could help!"

"Are you kidding?! You did more than help! You saved my life! Thank you so much! You were so friggin' awesome!" She started doing a punching motion with her right arm, a habit of hers when she got really excited, only to hiss in pain and grab her wrist with her other hand. "Ow-ow-ow-ow!"

"Oh! Here! Let me see."

He took her hands again, rolled up her sleeves, and inspected her wrists. They were slightly red from where the Coil Villain had binded her. They would more than likely bruise up soon. There were also a few cuts, more than likely caused by the rough surface of the coils sliding against her skin, causing it to tear. Her rescuer reached into one of the pouches on his belt. Pulling out some ointment and applying it to the markings. Then he pulled out a roll of gauze and wrapped them around her wrists.

Ochako was in awe of how careful he was, handling her wrists with a soft, delicate touch. It was as if he was afraid he would break her. When he finished, he let go of her hands and she looked back up at his face again and gave him a sweet smile.

"Wow! A strong fighter AND you can do first aide! You really are amazing! Thank you so much!"

His face heated up, which he covered with his gloved hands. "U-uh... I-it w-was no trouble! I'm j-j-just so-sorry I didn't get here f-fast enough!" He stuttered nervously. She found it a bit hard to believe he was the same person who bravely took down that scary-looking villain mere minutes ago.

'Weird. He was so brave a moment ago. Now he's all stuttery and flustered. It's kinda cute actually.' His mannerisms weren't the only thing she found cute. 'His bunny ears are adorable!'

With that thought, she reached up and took one of the rabbit ears in her hand. He felt the slight tug on top of his cowl and looked at what she was doing with a quizzled look on his face, which she noticed and giggled. His expression reminded her of a confused puppy.

"Sorry! I couldn't help myself! They're really cute! You look like a big green bunny-rabbit!"

He blushed again. "Oh. Uh... I, uh, I-I get that a lot."

Ochako smiled excitedly at him. "I haven't seen you around before. Did you just start here? Are you from UA like me? If so, what class are you in? Or are you from a different Hero school?" She watched as his pupils shrink, his face now full of panic as she moved closer and closer to him, her face about two inches from his.

"I-I-I-I... I GOTTA GO NOW! P-P-PLEASE EXCUSE ME! I'M SORRY!" He then bolted down the alleyway at what seemed like 50 miles an hour to her, then he made a sharp right. After a few seconds of confusion, she went after him.

"Hey, wait! Was it somethin' I said? Where ya goin'?" Her Mei Prefecture accent started to show with that last question.

Once she turned the corner, she was surprised to find that he had disappeared. She looked around the street frantically, only to see no trace of him anywhere. She heard a sound above her. She looked up to see him flipping onto the roof of the building she was standing next to. She activated her Quirk by tapping herself on the shoulder, using it to float herself up to the roof.

'How did he get up there so fast?!'

When she reached the rooftop, he was gone. Deactivating her Quirk, she landed gently on the roof and started looking around for him. Looking left and right, behind the roof closets and AC units, only to not find him anywhere. She decided to give it up and call the police to let them know about the Coil Villain. Once she finished her call, she turned around to get down off the roof. Tapping herself on the shoulder to activate her Quirk again. She turned and took one last look behind her.

"Hey! If you can hear me, thanks again for saving me!"

Ochako looked around one last time. That's when she noticed it... the tips of his green rabbit ears poking up from behind the rim on the edge of the next building, fluttering in the breeze. He must not have realized they were sticking up like that, giving away his hiding spot.

*PFFFFT!* 'That's adorable!'

She giggled at the sight. He obviously didn't want to be found and was waiting for her to leave so he could slip away unseen. So she slipped behind a roof closet and waited a few minutes.

The masked young man, Izuku Midoriya, finally stood up. He signed in relief, sure she was finally gone. He then turned to leave.

"And thanks for treating my injuries, too!"

He froze in place. Then turned around to see her, floating there again, choosing to keep her distance to not scare him off. The light of the full moon gave him a much better look at her face. She had a bright and wide smile on her pretty round face. Her brown hair fluttering in the breeze. His green eyes went wide in awe, making contact with her pretty chocolate-brown eyes.

'She looks like…. an Angel….'

"I hope we meet again soon!" She continued to smile, taking one last look at him. She waved at him. "Seeya 'round, Mystery Hero!"

Izuku stood there. Stunned. Tears forming in his eyes. He looked down, rubbing at his eyes with the back of his gloved hand. He took his mouthpiece off and looked back up at her, revealing a wobbly smile.

"You're welcome! And…." He paused for about twenty seconds. More tears trickled from his eyes, but his smile never faltered. "Thank you so much!"

She was taken by surprise at his sudden tears of joy and gratitude. But she smiled nonetheless and waved him goodbye again. She watched him as he left, hopping from one rooftop to the next until he was out of sight.

'He seemed really nice. But why was he so... secretive?'

She then deactivated her Quirk, falling to the ground below, reactivating it just before she hit the pavement, then deactivated it again, returning her gravity, just as the police showed up. She looked at her now bandaged wrist and smiled.

'His hands were so... gentle...'

Midoriya's Market and Family Home….

Meanwhile, after retrieving his backpack and about fifteen minutes of hopping across rooftops, Izuku finally arrived at his family's grocery store/house, where he lived with his mother and little sister. Climbing through his window, taking care so he didn't make any noise, he removed his cowl and looked at his reflection in the mirror, with tears in his eyes and a happy smile.

'She... she called me... her Hero!'

After being told his entire life, ever since he was diagnosed as "Quirkless", by everyone that he could never be a Superhero, he'd been told, by the nice young lady he'd just saved, that he was a Hero. To her at least, but still. And that made him the happiest he'd ever been in years. Of course, his mother and sister had told him he was their Hero before, it felt nice to hear it from someone outside his family.

With that thought, he took off his costume, put the jumpsuit and gloves in the wash. Then he went to take a quick shower to wash his bushy green hair and cleanse his body of the sweat he'd worked up that night. After he was clean, and his costume hung up to dry on a clothesline in the shower in his bathroom, he got into his sleeping shorts and one of his numerous All-Might shirts. He fell back onto his bed, exhausted and ready to get some much-needed sleep. He had to help his Mom and Aunt open the store and handle the deliveries for restock in the morning.

His thoughts once again drifted back to the pretty young lady he'd just saved almost an hour ago. Thinking once again of that last thing she'd said to him with that warm smile on her beautiful face.

'I hope we meet again soon! Seeya 'round, Mystery Hero!'

He let out a wistful sigh, a big smile on his face. He pulled his blanket over him and rested his head on his pillow, and finally closed his eyes. One last thought passed through his mind as he drifted peacefully off to sleep.

'I did it! I saved someone! From an actual Villain!'

He was so happy he had achieved his dream, on some level, however small it might be. After several nights of stopping purse snatchers, helping elderly people cross the street, and helping kids get their cats out of trees, he actually did something…. well, Heroic! He actually saved a life! While he was more than happy to help people with small things, actually saving someone from an actual villain…. It made him feel…. Incredible! He remembered that happy smile on the beautiful girl's face as he started to sleep.

'I wonder if I'll see her again...'

Ochako's Apartment….

Meanwhile, Ochako had finally gotten back to her small, yet affordable apartment. She decided to skip dinner in favor of taking a quick shower and going to bed early. After she was dried off, she got dressed into her sleeping shorts and her oversized blue Thirteen t-shirt, she slipped into her bed, and let out a sigh of that was a mix of exhaustion and relief.

Her thoughts drifted back to the nice and mysterious young Hero who had come to her rescue. He wasn't like your conventional Hero. He was brave and determined one moment, flustered and bashful the next. He was strong enough to take down a man twice his size, one with metal coils, yet gentle and careful while treating her injuries.

He was also very... secretive. She found that a bit odd. Usually, new rookie Heroes wanted to get their faces out there and make a name for themselves as a way of getting noticed by the public. This guy, on the other hand, didn't seem like he wanted to draw too much attention to himself. All she'd told the police was that a Hero she didn't recognize came to her aide. Giving a very vague description of his appearance. Then a thought occurred to her.

'Could he be unregistered? A…. Vigilante?'

That would explain why he was so secretive and tried to leave so suddenly. Though, it wasn't unheard of for civilians to try and do Hero work without a license. Some people either did it to show off or get their faces on TV. Or for some kind of reward. Or had no regard for the law or due process. But he didn't seem like he was trying to show off or anything like that. He seemed genuinely worried for her safety. She found that both endearing and thoughtful. On top of that, he didn't cause any long-term harm to the villain. He just knocked him out. Nothing like the Vigilantes she'd heard about on the news.

Ochako thought back to what she'd said to him when he came over to make sure she was alright. 'My Hero! Thank you so much for saving me!' When she'd said that, she meant every word. He came to her rescue, took down a psychotic villain without causing him any permanent injury, and treated her injuries afterwards. What he did was the very definition of "Heroic" in her book.

And... she did hope they'd meet again. He seemed really nice. She also remembered the interesting way he departed. His teary eyes, his wobbly smile, the way he'd thanked her. It was as if she's said something he needed to hear and was very grateful to her for it. She smiled, comforted at the thought that she'd made her mystery Hero happy.

'I wonder if I'll see him again...' With that last thought, she drifted off into a pleasant night's sleep with a content smile on her face.

To Be Continued...

Author's Notes:

OK, so I decided to scrap my old version of this story as a first draft in favor of this revised version. The story itself will be the same, but with certain things changed. For one, I condensed my original chapters 3 & 4 into one long chapter. Another thing, I'm spacing out the events a bit. I feel like I was moving things along too fast. I hope I'm making sense.

1: This first chapter was meant to introduce Izuku and Ochako, showing what Izuku can do, and establish a little of how he operates as a Hero trying to maintain a secret identity.

2: The "Coil Villain" is based on a combo of Omega Red from the X-Men comics, and his lack of pupils & irises in his eyes is meant to be a reference to Rob Liefeld's tenancy to draw characters with blank white eyes. What Linkara of Atop the Fourth Wall calls "Youngbloods Disease". Yeah, expect a lot of references to other Superhero titles. I read & watch a lot of Superhero stuff.
