Steve gave his date a rather strained smile as she met with him in front of the quaint "Marauders' Doe" Cafe which had several people, most of which seemed to be teenagers, walked in and out of the cafe. His date was wearing a sky-blue sundress with little dandelions on them, her brown hair was done in a simple braid that was thrown across her left shoulder and her hazel eyes were sparkling with excitement as she took his offered hand. Her eyes trailed to the cafe and a small smile quirked her pale lips, "The students of the nearby schools and colleges have turned this place into a hotspot-" she explained to him as she gestured to the students around, "the wifi in this area is great and the prices of the drinks aren't very high."
They walk in and Steve is suddenly greeted by the strong smell of cinnamon and vanilla. The cafe had multiple colourful plush chairs with round coffee tables near them; there was an intricate chandelier on the ceiling and a small bar in the corner which was empty for the moment, the walls consisted of two big brick ones and one with drawings and sayings all over them. In midst of the stampede of customers, Steve and his date sat down at the corner near the display window.
"Welcome to the Marauders' doe, what can I get for you?"
The pair turned towards the speaker, who had choppy blonde hair and grey eyes, looked at them with a mischievous twist to her lips. His date cleared her throat, looking slightly flustered as she scanned the menu, Steve picking up his own, "I would like... the Caesar salad and a cup of caramel macchiato," the waitress nodded slightly as she wrote down her order and turned to him expectantly. Steve straightened slightly in his seat, "Oh! I'll have whatever she's having-"
"Alright! Your orders are coming right up!" She said with faked enthusiasm as she went to the next customer.
.
Steve felt awkward as he walked her towards her home, holding her hand lightly and letting it go when they reached her front door, "That's my stop," his date murmured nervously. They paused slightly as they stared at each other unsurely, "Do you want to do this again sometime?" She asked, smiling slightly at him.
Steve was quick to backtrack, "No! I mean- Milly, your an amazing person but- your not what I- er-"
"It's okay," his date sighed in defeat, "I... whoever you end up with would be really lucky to have you as their boyfriend, Steve." she gave his cheek a slight peck and ran inside her house. Steve felt bad.
"So, how was your date?" Steve jump up in surprise as he turned to Agent Romanoff, one of the select few SHIELD agents that were allowed proximity near him. "It could have gone better," he tells her stiffly, mind wondering about how long she had been following him.
"The girl- er- waitress! of the coffee shop looked kinda cute," she tells him unhelpfully, making him shoot a sizzling glare at her, who -to credit- didn't so much as flinch under its scrutiny.
.
A week later, he took the waitress from the coffee shop dancing as a date.
Lol, hasn't it been quite a while? So... what do y'all think? Poor Steve, really.
