Prologue

Two magical beings bound together by fate

Ever since both met on the very first day

Destined to be each other's soul mate

But then betrayal washed it all away

~0~0~0~

First time he truly saw her beautiful face

Had been at the celebration, the feast

Donned in a dress of red silk and lace

Making his heart race like a running beast

~0~0~0~

Yes, she was a high lady and he, a mere servant

But though they were of much different standing

Their friendship truly became so very fervent

For between them was much trust and understanding

~0~0~0~

But we all know that happiness does not last

And life is filled with many tests for every man

Their joy came crashing down too hard and fast

For then came her dreams and the nightmare began

~0~0~0~

She barged into the physician's chambers late one night

As she was really unable to bear all of it any longer

Messy hair and tear streaked face, she was truly a sight

He looks up alarmed, unsure if he should help comfort her

~0~0~0~

He wants to tell the truth about her magic, that she is a seer

He opened his mouth and he tried, oh yes, how he tried

But he was too afraid, consumed by the overwhelming fear

He was just a coward and so instead of the truth, he lied

~0~0~0~

As time when on, things became so much more worse

The dragon's words and warnings became twistedly lethal

And their intertwining destinies soon became their curse

For he made a huge mistake and did an action so very fatal

~0~0~0~

She felt much pain, not from the poison but the betrayal so deep

He held onto the gasping lady, his friend who he once held so dear

She whispered his name before darkness took over and she fell asleep

Watching the sleeping beauty caused pain and the trickle of the first tear

~0~0~0~

That day, his choice marked the path, the journey they had to embark

He had destroyed any hope of her returning and it was too late

His decision led to her demise and she became a creature so dark

She was now a woman filled with intense anger, scorn and hate

~0~0~0~

The dragon had said that she was the darkness to his light

And that she was also the hatred to his love

Well, it was true he guessed, Kilgharrah had been right

She was no longer that pure little white dove

~0~0~0~

When she had been told who he truly was, she had silently wept

But then her sadness morphed into anger and a burning desire

To take her revenge for all the terrible secrets that he had kept

Slowly, her pain then turned into a deadly raging hot red fire

~0~0~0~

And soon enough came the time for the final battle of magic

Mighty weapons clashed and powerful spells were cast

Truth to be told, the end would surely be rather tragic

For what was done couldn't be changed, it was the past

~0~0~0~

She already knew that he would be her destiny and her doom

As his sword plunged into her and her magic went out of power

And as she felt the red stain on her stomach begin to bloom

She gazed up at him knowing it would all too soon be over

~0~0~0~

Staring deeply into her eyes filled with bitterness so foul

His entire body shook, trembling hard as he cried

For the loss of a once pure and kind-hearted soul

As she lay limply in his arms and slowly died

Do let me know what you think of the prologue by leaving a review! Hope you enjoyed this and look forward to the next update.

Edit: So, recently I re-watched the 2008 Merlin TV series again since I've been staying put at home what with the whole pandemic that's going on. (To everyone out there, take care and stay safe!) Re-watching this show really gave me the inspiration and motivation I needed to pick up on writing over here once again. I've finally come back to this story (after too long) and I've realised that there were a lot of changes to be made so I'm re-writing this whole thing. To my dear readers who have stuck with me thus far, thank you for all the kind support and patience that you have shown me. I really hope to finish this story so I can share it with everyone here! I can't make promises to update regularly but I will try my best to do so. I hope you all will stick along with me on this journey!
