Chapter Twenty
Daichi didn't even slow down as he impacted against the doors of the church, the old wooden slabs splintering as he burst through them. Had anyone been on the other side they would have been perforated by the equivalent of a shotgun blast of wooden spikes. The trap door leading below the church only stopped him for a moment as his momentum shattered the stone and wood of the altar, and then he was among them. The exorcists were little more than insects, small irritations that he didn't even register as he bowled through their congregation in a beeline for the first fallen angel he spotted, their limited human bodies impacting the walls in bone shattering squelches as they were tossed around by Daichi's relentless touki fueled charge.
Dohnaseek didn't even have time to register more than an explosion of sound and a few screams before his head fell from his shoulders, a light spear only half formed in his hand as his body crumpled. The exorcists made to rally, but Daichi wasn't in the mood to play around with his food. A wave of sapphire blue flame rolled out over the room, vaporizing those that were merely human. One exorcist remained, a deranged look in his eyes as he grinned, a fragment of Excalibur in his hand as the only reason he too wasn't covering the floor with his ash. The last two were the fallen who had taken to the air to avoid the fire.
"WHO DARES?!" A high-pitched voice screeched. Daichi homed in on the voice in an instant, vanishing in a swirl of soot and reappearing in the air, his hand buried through Mittelt's heart. Freed's cackling laugh was his next target. The insane stray exorcist attempted to flee, throwing a flash pellet at his feet, but Daichi's senjutsu could not be fooled by minor tricks. The man's life force gave him away as he fled towards a door at the far side of the room, likely an emergency escape tunnel.
He didn't make it.
The last thing Freed Sellzen knew was his own giddy euphoria as he escaped certain death, only for his perspective to shift, rotate, and, suddenly, he knew no more. Daichi whirled around, his last target standing on the ground below where she had been hovering, never having even moved from her original position. Daichi was before her in an instant, Kalawarner's eyes unable to even track him as he shifted across the room, death in his eyes.
If her hands hadn't already been raised above her head, she too would have died instantly, but instead, Daichi paused, his nails lightly piercing the soft area just below her sternum in between her ribs, the angle poised to show how he planned to rip her heart from her body. The tremble of her knees and limbs gave away her absolute terror but she managed to find her voice, quivering in equal measure.
"I yield. Mercy, please."
Daichi's eyes narrowed but he pulled his nails from her skin, flicking them up to get rid of the beads of blood and severing her clothing in the process, letting her gigantic breasts hang free without support. Kalawarner shivered slightly from the cooler cavern air, nipples pebbling, though neither of them knew if it was from the air or an alternative reason.
"Kneel. You may cover yourself. I need to make a phone call." Daichi took two steps away, eyes never leaving Kalawarner's form, though there wasn't a hint of sexual depravity in his cold gaze even as he whipped out his phone and speed dialed Azazel.
"Yo, fox boy, whatcha got for me?"
"Azzy, you're on speaker. Everyone is dead but Kalawarner. She surrendered to me. She's going to tell us everything, figured I'd save us both a bit of time and get it straight from the source."
Kalawarner's eyes had almost comically widened as the voice of the leader of Grigori echoed out from Daichi's phone.
"Start speaking, crow. Sing a pretty enough tune and I won't kill you. No promises about Azazel though, he still might."
Kalawarner immediately began spilling the tea.
"Lord Azazel! I'm so sorry! I didn't know this wasn't a sanctioned mission! I'd never do anything to hurt you or your plans! Raynare received orders from Kokabiel who stated it came from you!"
"Called it." Azazel casually muttered through the phone.
"What do you want me to do with her?"
"What do you mean? She surrendered to you. She's yours to do with as you please. I already wrote her off as dead the moment I set you loose on them." Azazel hummed for a moment in lazy thought. "I suppose it is a good thing you didn't kill her outright though. She was always very loyal if you didn't get that vibe from her blubbering. Regardless, she's yours. Lover, minion, sex toy, aesthetically appealing furniture, whatever you want, she's not my problem anymore. Now, I'll need you to excuse me while I go set some plans in motion to oust Kokabiel's inner circle from my organization once you kill him. Gimme a call when he's dead."
"Sure thing, Azzy, talk to you later."
Daichi glanced over Kalawarner who was looking despondently at the ground, not even bothering to cover herself any longer.
"Now what the fuck am I going to do with a pet crow? At least you have great tits, but Sera and Gabriel would smite the fuck out of you if I gave you my virginity."
That got a response from her, eyes widening again as she looked up at Daichi as he hovered over her.
"Alright, enough moping. Cover yourself and follow me. You can stay with me in my apartment until I figure out something for you to do to make yourself useful." Daichi paced over and picked up the fragment of Excalibur. This one was… Rapidly, if he remembered correctly. Details from his foreknowledge were getting hazier the longer he spent living in this world, though most of them were irrelevant at this point anyway. Glancing over the sacred gear extraction device, Daichi grunted in annoyance. It was too big to just drag around, so he'd have to come back for it later. He might have resolved not to rip Issei's soul apart, but from what he remembered, Cao Cao was a fucking prick and the True Longinus would be a step up from even the Boosted Gear, though Annihilation Maker would likely be more useful and complement his abilities better than the spear would.
"You're a bit too weak to be much use though…" Daichi finally continued and looked up at the ceiling speculatively as the pair turned and walked out of the church. "Maybe I'll send you on a training trip to Freyja. Get some Valkyrie training in you to make you useful. That sounds like a decent enough idea for now."
Daichi whipped out his phone again and hit his speed dial once more.
"Hello, my goddess, how are you?"
"Daichi? I'm well, thank you for asking."
"Good. I'm glad Odin isn't bugging you too much." Daichi could hear the hum of disapproval through the phone. "Make sure to keep an eye out for Loki. Before I came back, my friends from Greece mentioned the slimy little shit had been spotted here and there in their area."
"Thank you for the notice, I'll let the Einherjar and Valkyries know to keep an eye out. Was that all? Or was there something else?"
"No, no, that's not why I called, I have a favor to ask."
"Of course, whatever it is won't be a problem."
Daichi grinned, the happy look a strange contrast to the blank, murderous appearance Kalawarner had just experienced.
"I appreciate your instant agreement, but I'll tell you what it is anyway. I just picked up a stray fallen angel…"
"You killed all her companions." Freyja immediately accused in the brief hesitation Daichi gave as he formulated his thoughts.
"Okay, yes, I cremated the rest of them, but that's neither here nor there since Azazel told me to." Daichi could practically see Freya's narrowed eyes at the mention of Azazel. "Regardless! She's a bit pathetic and not very useful right now, do you think you could put her through some of the training with the girls and whip her into shape?"
"Of course, Daichi. I'll turn her into something useful for you."
"Perfect, thank you, Freyja."
Daichi hung up and moments later a rainbow bridge spontaneously appeared before them as he turned to address Kalawarner.
"Alright, arrangements have been made. Freyja said she'll bring you up to snuff for me, so take a jaunt up the rainbow and you'll be escorted and taken care of from there. I expect you to have at least six wings before you return, so put some effort in and I'll reward you when you get back."
Kalawarner just stared at him blankly, still wondering who the fuck this guy was who randomly swooped in, killed her partners, then upended her entire knowledge of the known world by having friendly relations with not one, not two, but at least four major faction leaders, not even within the same pantheon, with implied knowledge of even more than that! So, she just nodded instead and walked up the rainbow, vanishing in the same instant as the light bridge.
"Thanks, Heimdall!" Daichi called out towards the sky. The weight in his hand suddenly reminded him of another issue he would need to handle. He glared down at the fragment of the most powerful sword ever created as if its existence was a personal affront. He hadn't made very many friends while staying with the church, and he was quite loath to turn over a powerful weapon to a bunch of power-hungry hypocrites. He couldn't use it either. As a yokai, and particularly as a spirit monster aligned with darkness, his compatibility was only slightly higher with the swords than demons and devils.
Daichi blinked as a thought occurred to him.
Two more fragments would soon be arriving with Kokabiel, while another two would be arriving with Irina and Xenovia when they came to attempt to retrieve Kokabiel's pieces. That would make five of the seven fragments. The church would still be holding on to the sixth, while the seventh was in the hands of Arthur's descendant.
Daichi let loose a mischievous grin. He was willing to bet that nobody was more holy attuned than Asia, even with the changes in the girl's personality from his meddling during his stay in Italy. Either her or Jeanne D'Arc, and either option would piss all over the church's cornflakes if they were given a fused and completed Excalibur. Sinister giggles escaped Daichi has he vanished towards his apartment. Sister Quarta would be pissed. It would be great!
Daichi had one more call he needed to make, his phone still in his hand as he appeared on his apartment balcony. He hit the speed dial for Serafall, the tone only ringing once before she answered.
"Dai-tan!"
"Hey Sera, how are you?"
"Great now that Dai-tan is calling!"
Daichi could hear swearing and explosions going off in the background.
"Uh… are you busy?"
"Nope! Not too busy for you!"
The thundering sound of a massive amount of water crashing around could be heard through his phone, screams sounding out before suddenly being cut off, then all he could hear was the gentle sound of waves lapping against the shore.
"Right… well I need some help."
"Okay! I'll pop over to Earth in a few minutes!"
"Not immediately, dork. I just wanted to update you on some important information so you could be prepared."
"Mouuuu, Dai-tan! Levi-tan needed an excuse to escape all this paperwork from having to wipe out this rebellion!"
"Sorry Sera, but I'll likely need your assistance soon. Kokabiel is stirring shit up around Kuoh and Azazel gave me the go-ahead to put him in the ground. As much as I'd like to kill him myself, I'm not quite powerful enough to confidently take on a ten-wing fallen just yet, so I'll need either you or Luci to lend a hand to put him down hard and fast so the town doesn't get damaged in the crossfire."
"Oh! That's it? Sure Dai-tan! I'll let 'Zechsy know and we'll get back to you!"
"Great, thanks Sera."
"Anything for you, Daichi!"
The phone clicked off and Daichi let out a sigh, collapsing face first into his bed.
'Stupid Seed of Yggdrasil! Stupid, stupid, stupid! All this work! My next vacation I'm going to Greece and laying waste to their shitty little monster population. Or maybe I can get Heimdall to let me into Svartalfheim! That would be fun! Crushing a couple dark elf armies would really help me work off some of this frustration.'
In the canon timeline, events occurred rapidly, or at least appeared to, which is how Daichi found himself staring up at the clouds drifting across the night sky from his apartment balcony in complete and utter boredom two weeks after annihilating the fallen angels. Rias had taken his not-so-subtle threat to heart in that time and turned Issei through his recommendation of appealing to his perversion, so the main plot was afoot, though at this point that was the only main plot point that remained up until Riser showed up. As far as he knew, Asia wouldn't be excommunicated after all the meddling he did in the church's business over the years, so she had no reason to show up in Japan. Along with wiping out the fallen angels, that eliminated over half of the first season's main events.
Not that he regretted any of it. He was just bored now that he had to sit around on his ass waiting for something to happen.
Daichi blinked.
Then blinked again.
He turned his head towards his bedroom, a grin stretched across his face bearing his fangs to the world.
"I didn't think she'd actually do it but here she is."
Daichi sauntered over, opening his door to find an incredibly erotic sight laid out across his bed. Rias had taken the liberty of showing up fully nude, legs spread wide as she bared herself to him as he walked through the door.
And so, he tied her up, a previously enchanted rope snaked out from beneath his bed where it promptly wrapped her up in a perfect Shibari bondage pose. It was an interesting project he had put together using Nordic runes. Animation combined with specific instructions, though he was hoping to improve on it so the instructions could be modified on the fly.
A chest harness perfectly accentuated her massive perky tits which linked into the hip and waist ties, combined into arm ties that kept her arms restricted to her sides, all of it interlinked as the rope forced her to her knees where it tied her ankles and legs together, slightly spread for easy access to her lower lips but tied solidly enough to keep her limbs and body immobile.
"Huh – what?!" Rias gasped as she found herself presented in a completely different manner, kneeling atop Daichi's bed as he stood and watched, looking her over with his chin cradled in his hand, as if contemplating a deep truth until he hummed.
"I was wondering if rope play was one of my fetishes. I'm still not sure if it does anything for me though. This is beautiful; the canvas, the crisp lines, the artistic knots, and your crimson hair. If we were sexual partners, I don't think I would be able to hold myself back, but I'm not sure if it's the ropes or just how attractive you naturally are, Rias."
"Wha-!?"
Daichi shushed her.
"Let me appreciate this for a little longer. Your minder will likely be showing up in just a moment."
Rias gasped.
"Then – you have to deflower me! Quickly!"
Daichi looked at her as if she was crazy.
"Why the hell would I do that?"
"It's the only way I can get out of my arranged marriage, if I'm a used woman then they'll nullify the agreement and you're the only one powerful and well connected enough to not suffer any consequences!"
Daichi's expression shifted as if he was looking at a particularly dumb puppy.
"Ah. Yes. Devils who literally exist as the personification of sin certainly care about the sanctity of marriage and the purity of their partners."
Daichi watched as his words sank in and Rias' head dropped, a downcast expression on her face. Daichi bonked her on the had to break her out of her mind funk. He felt slightly bad for making her depressed.
"Relax, ditz. I'm sure whatever you're thinking isn't as bad as it seems."
It seemed to work as Rias shifted into a pout as she glared at him without any heat.
"Are you planning to ever untie me?"
"Nope. I already told you I appreciate the view, why would I allow my muse to escape? However,… I do think a bit of punishment may be in order for disobeying my instructions with Hyoudou."
"Wha-? Disobey? What are these ropes even made out of? They obviously aren't normal; I can't break them."
"Yes, disobey." Daichi strolled around the side of the bed, tugging the ropes gently with his magic to pull her forward so she was face down, her ass presented as she was forced to remain kneeling. "I told you I would be displeased if you let him die for no reason, and I was forced to waste my time protecting him in your place." Rias was flushed, and only after he took a sniff of the air, did he realize it was a mixture of both embarrassment and arousal. "As for the ropes, I enchanted them. One of the rune projects I made with some of my free time. Any time you'd like to come be tied up you're welcome to drop by. I can always use such a nice canvas to improve on my work." Daichi was radiating smug as Rias continued to pout.
"I never imagined I'd be so sexually exposed with so little lust involved… I'm not sure if I appreciate this new meaning to the phrase the body is a work of art…" Rias mumbled.
Daichi took this opportunity to palm one of her ass cheeks, gently squeezing and massaging it as Rias squeaked in surprise.
"There is plenty of lust, but I think I'm enjoying the dominant play more than the ropes themselves." He reeled his hand back and landed a hard spank on her left cheek, cause Rias to squeak again. "This is punishment for disobeying me." Daichi landed another spank on the opposite side of her ass to punctuate his words. "Do you understand?"
Rias' eyes were watery as she puffed out her cheeks and pouted, though it wasn't even close to fooling Daichi as he landed another spank on her ass.
"Do you understand?" He repeated.
"…yes." Rias muttered, and Daichi spanked her again.
"I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you, what was that?"
"Yes!"
Daichi spanked her again.
"Yes, what?"
"Yes, I understand!"
Another smack of flesh on flesh sounded out as Rias squealed lightly.
"Sir."
Rias let out a moan of pleasure, panting lightly as Daichi gently ran his fingers over the red marks.
"Yes, I understand sir!"
Daichi nodded in acceptance.
"Good girl."
Before Rias could respond, a flash of silver light heralded the arrival of Grayfia who took in the scene before her with a nonplussed stare.
"Another top tier canvas…" Daichi murmured loud enough for both women to hear, his fingers still gently trailing along Rias' ass as he slowly injected a light amount of nature energy to boost her healing. "Maybe it isn't ropes, but I think I definitely have a thing for silver hair…" Daichi's mind clearly pictured Rossweisse from the last time he visited Asgard and a warm smile pricked his lips briefly. Grayfia cleared her throat in order to fully bring Daichi's attention to her presence.
"Ah, sorry. Self-enlightenment is a hobby of mine. How can I help you, Miss Grayfia?"
Grayfia's eyebrow twitched as her eyes flicked back and forth between the bound sister of her husband and the babysitter hired to protect her, the expression on her face clearly saying everything she wanted to convey.
"She teleported into my room so I tied her up for trespassing. She's been rather disobedient recently so I felt the need to discipline her. Isn't that right, Rias?" Daichi delivered with a completely stoic deadpan.
"Yes, sir." A shudder of obvious pleasure went through Rias body at her own words.
A single silver eyebrow crawled its way up her forehead but Daichi didn't flinch.
"She's unharmed, obviously, beyond a few deserved spankings. I'm not into that sort of play. Submissive and dominant doesn't mean abusive." Daichi continued, expression never wavering. "On that note, if Luci approves, you're more than welcome to experience my art yourself whenever you wish. It's quite liberating, or so I've heard." Daichi turned his attention to Rias who was still tied up with an expectant look. Rias blinked before nodding.
"He's not lying. This is actually quite nice. The ropes are high quality and soft against my skin, though I'd imagine they can be tightened down for rougher experiences. Granted, I know despite our rather rocky relationship thus far that he would never truly hurt me. I imagine being entirely comfortable requires a modicum of trust which my brother has placed in him already by having him protect me and what the hell am I saying?! Can you release me now?"
Daichi sighed in disappointment.
"I suppose…" He snapped his fingers, a small stream of magic connected to the ropes and they fell away and slithered back beneath his bed. "My offer is always open to you Miss Grayfia. If you'd ever like to be tied up, I'd be happy to do it. Clothed, unclothed, soft, hard, whatever makes you happy. Just make sure you ask Luci first, I don't need him getting mad at me for getting handsy with his wife without permission."
Both women rolled their eyes, a silver magic circle coming to life beneath both of the devils.
"I'll keep your… offer… in mind." Grayfia diplomatically responded. "Until then, however, I must return with my charge. Good night."
Daichi cheekily grinned and waved, façade breaking as he twiddled his fingers goodbye. The pair vanished in the next instant and a true smile spread across his face as he laughed. Riser would be showing up tomorrow. It was time to start putting plans in motion.
The next day Daichi was in a pleasant mood as he lounged atop the old school building. The Gremory peerage was slowly trickling in with only Issei and Kiba missing. When he finally spotted the pair making their way onto the school grounds, he swung down off the roof and took a peek into the club room through the second-floor window. A quick extension of a claw saw the latch flipped and the window opened enough for him to slip through. The cast was accounted for, the stage prepared, all that was left was for everyone to play their part.
Rias, Akeno, and Grayfia were already present surrounding Rias' desk while Shirone lounged on one of the couches munching on her sweets per usual. Only Grayfia took note of his presence, dispersed as it was to meld him into nature's background noise. The rest simply looked slightly confused at the sudden slight breeze throughout the room. Daichi gave Grayfia a cheeky little wave as he took a seat next to Shirone and waited for the festivities to begin.
It wasn't a long wait, things somehow playing out precisely the same as his memories said they would, just lacking a certain Asia Argento in the room. Issei and Kiba walked in, Rias went to explain, then suddenly fire! It was all very dramatic. The fact that Daichi knew Riser had to have intentionally put the 'phoenix cry' and flame effect into his magic circle construction just made what might have been a cool entrance just… disappointing and sad. It was a cry for attention if ever he saw one.
Then the fondling and touching and general sleazebag behavior occurred on the couch. Daichi wasn't even sure why Rias sat on that half of the room when her peerage was on the other side. It was like inviting him to come act like a douche. Or maybe that was the point? Get Issei all riled up to defend her honor? It was a really stupid manipulation if it was.
It wasn't even halfway through the talking and posturing that Daichi stopped paying attention. His good mood was quickly souring again as his boredom took root. As far as dramas went, this performance might have rated a five out of ten, if he was being generous. Soon Riser's peerage would show up, Issei would get jealous, then get his ass handed… to… him…
A nasty grin spread itself across Daichi's face as he popped up from the couch and strolled over to the other half of the room. He quickly began scribbling runes into the floor, nobody paying attention to the tiny glowing symbols before they had a chance to settle and deactivate. Grayfia had needed to intercede before the pair of devils could continue arguing, so it was the perfect distraction to prepare for the arrival of fifteen women. He was just putting the finishing touches on the runic array when Riser prepared to snap his fingers and Daichi danced his way out of the radius of the incoming fire.
He was practically vibrating as he sat attentively, waiting for the perfect moment, Grayfia giving him a quizzical look from the other side of the room. Issei got his ass handed to him by one of Riser's girls and passed out, Rias freaked out, and Riser joined his peerage with Yubelluna as they prepared to leave. It was all very dramatic until a sudden ripping sound filled the air.
Everyone stopped in surprise, not from the sound, but from the sudden nudity of Riser's entire group.
Daichi couldn't help himself, his senjutsu camouflage falling away as he first attempted to hold his laughter in only to fail nearly instantly.
"Pffffttt!" Daichi burst into hysterical, pealing laughter as the girls all shrieked and attempted to cover themselves. The irony wasn't lost on him since Yubelluna just finished being fondled in front of the entire group, yet was acting like her innocence was in danger from a little bit of skin exposure.
"WHO DARES BESMIRCH THE REPUTATION OF RISER PHENEX?!"
Riser's reaction just redoubled Daichi's laughter. What kind of question was that? He was obviously right there, the only apparent culprit since he was laughing his ass off while everyone else stared in bemusement or glared.
"Miserable cretin! Disgusting animal! I will incinerate you for this offense!" Fire began pooling in Riser's hands, giving everyone a look at what he was packing down below. Daichi had been recovering until Little Riser made his appearance and Daichi lost his composure all over again. He kept attempting to speak only to have to gasp between each word as he struggled to breathe.
"Oh – my – dear – lord." Daichi vanished and reappeared on the opposite couch as Riser incinerated the first, wiping his eyes as his chuckles finally began to wind down.
"I see why you wouldn't want to marry this little birdy, Rias." He broke out into snickers once more as more fire began accumulating in Riser's hands. "I thought devils were shapeshifters? You must have originally been microscopic if this is the best your power could do for your 'ideal image'."
"Who is this mongrel and why is it allowed to intrude on superior beings' territory!?" Riser hissed out. Daichi jumped up and stuck himself to the ceiling upside down.
"First off little birdy, I'm the boss off this area. The head honcho, the big kahuna, el capitan. I can go wherever I please because this town is mine. The laws of visitation of which you are violating gave me express permission to be in attendance, since, you know, you didn't bother to inform me you were going to be showing up on my turf."
"Your territory? Don't make me laugh you disgusting little parasite. This is devil territory; no animal could hold a position of power over us!"
"Tsk, tsk, tsk." Daichi waved a finger back and forth as he shook his head. "Naughty, naughty, little birdy. The only reason you aren't dead right now is because Grayfia would stop me from wringing your skinny little neck and roasting you over a fire."
Riser took the opportunity to glance at the queen still in attendance who was carefully watching both sides of the conflict. With a grimace, Riser snuffed out his flames. He had suffered enough indignity and humiliation for one day.
"Mark my word, you will suffer for this, animal."
"Yes, yes, I'm shaking in my boots. Fly away now, little birdy. We've heard enough of your chirping for one day."
Riser growled at not getting the last word in, just one more thing to crucify the yokai with later, but it was past time for him to leave. A flare of fire had the group vanish from the club room.
Daichi dropped from the ceiling and flipped to land on the remaining couch, letting out a relaxed sigh as he settled in.
"Damn, that was cathartic."
Rias coughed, forcing Daichi's eyes back open as he was made to acknowledge every else that existed in the room. Kiba was standing while holding Issei in a princess carry next to Rias who looked a bit peeved.
'Oh, right. Only one couch.' Daichi hopped up, shooting a bit of nature energy into Issei as they laid him down in order to speed up his recovery. Grayfia took the time to address Rias and the peerage while keeping an eye on Daichi as he loitered.
"The rating game will be held in ten days. Due to the difference in age and experience, it seemed pertinent to provide you with at least a small handicap for preparation."
Rias stared at Issei's still form and nodded.
"I will gladly accept that time as a training period."
Daichi suddenly spoke up from the opposite side of Grayfia.
"I suppose I could play coach for you and your peerage. I'm going to have to follow along anyway to keep you protected."
"We do not need your help or protection." Rias turned her nose up with a huff, a bit peeved about the previous evening's activities and in denial about her own enjoyment of the process. Daichi simply looked at her with lidded eyes and pointed at the comatose Issei without a word to drive his point home. "What about Sona? You're meant to be protecting her too."
"I set up a runic alert array around the entire city the first week I took over, and keyed a teleport talisman to the school. If anyone with a modicum of power enters my territory, I will know about it and can instantly return if necessary."
Grayfia took the opportunity to speak up.
"I would take this opportunity, Rias. You may not know, but Mister Okami has quite a reputation throughout the supernatural world. Having him volunteer to train you and your peerage is a chance you should not pass up."
After a few moments of gritting her teeth, Rias begrudgingly nodded in acceptance.
To Akeno who had been listening attentively, Daichi's satisfied smile looked an awful lot more sinisterly sadistic than she thought it had any right to. It didn't help that it made her wet just looking at it.
A/N:
A quick note about passing over the Boosted Gear. I have this story posted over on QQ as well and similar concerns were brought up there, but it's easier to reply on a forum style site than on FF. Anyway, people aren't understanding Daichi passing over the BG. A big part of that decision comes from Daichi's personality.
Daichi is prideful. Immensely prideful. He's worked his ass off for years and years to get to his current level of power, and despite how calculating and cold blooded he can be, he's never once committed premeditated murder of an innocent. There's more to it than just these factors, but those are two really big components that went into this decision. He has never taken a shortcut to his power, and it worked. He's powerful, incredibly so for his age and level of strength, so faced with an opportunity to suddenly take a shortcut at the expense of his morals and pride, it should become a bit more apparent about why he wouldn't choose to do so, no matter how much of an easy win the rest of his life would be. It's because of how easy the rest would be that partly turned him off of the idea. As far as the Seed goes, he's working for that. Sure, it's given to him but he is earning it with his own efforts.
Like I said, there's more to it beyond that, but feeding you guys a bit more backstory behind his personality isn't spoiling anything since most of what I just discussed can be inferred from what's been written so far. Plus, how entertaining would it really be to take the BG and have him just go 'haha ezpz I ween' for the rest of the story? That's boring.
