AN: I will be ending Vol:0 with 15 chapters. I have already started doing chp10 but it might take some time since I am currently experiencing writer's block. I shouldn't have scrapped so much chapters and now I'm running out of fumes. I'm considering taking a long break just so I could sort myself and hopefully return without losing my motivation.

It was still dark outside in the municipality of Chiba, the colorful lights illuminated the city just like how Tokyo is at night, there were still people roaming the night albeit in smaller quantities- though in a particular villa near a forest, all of its occupants are still in slumber, and under the moonlight, a silhouette was dashing swiftly through every corner of the buildings. One might say that this hasty individual was running away from something. His haggard skin clearly indicates that he has ran for quite some time, and quite a distance also, he would've liked to leap in strides on top of this buildings to get faster to where he wants to go but that seems quite impossible with the ones chasing him. He wanted to fight back yet he seemed hesitant to do so, what made him hesitant were the ones chasing him, and their leader, who is a little girl who had set her eyes on him, she looked like she was still in elementary, and it reminded him of his daughter of all things, even though her daughter had natural blonde hair.

Negotiations even with his charismatic attribute didn't work since the kid didn't listen to him, his luck had betrayed him so he thought, if only his partner was there to help him then things would've went smoothly. He could only hope that Hikigaya would come sooner before he resort to drastic measures, and he wouldn't want to do that. Using his last resort would make his body to decay, and he still wants to see his daughter grow up.

He blasted another nameless assailant with his spirit gun, leaving a huge gaping hole on it's chest which resulted in its death. Another one joined in the fray, showcasing it's gnarly fangs. While all of this was happening, the little girl with raven hair merely floated their watching it all unfold.

This is the situation Yoshikage Goro find himself into, a situation where something bad will happen to him if it escalates any further.

The Chiba Prefectural Police Headquarters is a Prefectural police department or todofuken-keisatsu, a product created by the law enforcement system in Japan. The regular police affairs of each respective prefectures are heavily maintained by it's strict government. Unlike the National Police Agency or keisatsu-cho, Prefectural Police departments have special operative units that they can deploy in case of the emergence of an 'Incident'. This special operative units are only few, but what they lack in numbers they make up for their abilities, the reason for their existence is heavily tied towards the Eastern Association, the very same organization whose purpose was to maintain the identity of the supernatural as non-existent.

The members of this special operative units works differently from the standard police, they are heavily focused in the supernatural, holed up in one department closed off from the other parts of the police quarters, one could say that it is classified. Almost most of them do not work in the other departments but they do have the freedom to join other departments of course as most of them had formal training in line with the criminology course given by the Association itself. All of the Prefectural Police quarters have a special-section area dedicated only for this special operative units- An area exclusive only for them, to be able to get there, a secret passage awaits for them to traverse, however there are some exceptions.

In the office where the 'Incident' solvers resides, the tactile click of each keystrokes resounded in the almost empty space of what was supposed to be the lair of the specialized units, well it is understandable that this place would be desolated, especially in the middle of the night except for one individual who was busy typing with an old IBM keyboard.

He would've went off earlier in the afternoon if not for the unnecessary work that was piled up to him, most would definitely whine about being held up late into the night, but he does not detest it since he will be getting a week off until he finishes everything which would take approximately an hour. The only motivation he had was his hobby, and that was-

Ring

"Nice another series from Yukinobu-sensei," This individual was a massive otaku. His case has the gundam cover on it and even his clothes that he wore right now were inspired by some of his favorite manga's, "-and damn! Those are some nice artwork, will be saving this for later." He placed his phone beside his keyboard and stretched out his arms.

"Time to get back to work." He resumed back to what he was doing before, then he suddenly he felt goosebumps as he sensed the use of a spell. He stopped whatever he was doing right now, there shouldn't be anyone here at the office he thought. The cleanup crew were having a coffee break just a couple of minutes ago so it would be quite weird for them to come here so soon.

As the hair on his skin tingle, he caught a glimpse of light shining beneath the door.

Now for what reason did I have to pay a visit to the special branch? Well, I needed to leave my goods there because I don't trust that drunk with that sort of thing, who knows how much booze he will buy with all of those converted to money, and also maybe to see what Yoshikage was doing on his end.

Let's see… I have new clothes thanks to the providence of my ever-so benevolent kami. But I look like I am sort of ceremonial samurai with this ridiculous shoulder, at least I have this to wear rather than having tattered rags that makes me look like I'm a bum. And the clothes he gave me were giving me some sort of boost, he said that it can help me with adapting to my current state which didn't really help that much, but he did say that it was durable enough to not; be burnt inside a furnace; be torn or sliced or cut by a sharp object; be penetrated by a bullet. However it's not that resistant to magic as such I can't rely on it to take any hit from a spell, and if I have one thing to say about this kataguni, it would be that I absolutely like the black and gray scheme it brings.

This was a traditional clothes used in the Edo period, primarily used by samurai's and courtiers, this is kamishimo, one of the many styles of kataguni. For samurai's in a ceremony, this clothes were longer than usual and are essential during a meeting with a high-ranking officers to prevent assassinations. Though it didn't really stop any assassination attempts from ever happening, it has grown into some sort of formal attire after the chaotic period that Edo brought. Good thing I had my boots with me so that I could tuck in this hakama. Now that I think about it, this trouser feels kind of comfortable compared to the one I usually wear.

Apart from the pistol that I still have with me and the few talismans that were left, I also received another batch of null talismans from my kami, which now I can say that I can take on an entire youkai infested village... not really an exaggeration since I can do something like that so stop doubting me, Yahata.

Still flowing through the spell, the ethereal state made me look back at what me and my kami discussed back there on Tenkai. I don't know whether I should be happy that I'm finally able to see her once again, even if it's through a window. I can feel that a part of me was finally able to rest but there was another that sank me in deeper waters. Well, it is not time for me to think of that, I have a job to finish right now, yes a job so forget about her Hachiman.

After what finally felt like an eternity in that state, my feet finally touched the ground as I feel myself materialized. Opening my eyes, I could see that the lights were off in this area used for transportation spells or teleportation spells, or to be frank, TP spells. I still have my bag with me so I can't just immediately get out of the office and I need to leave it here otherwise I might drop it during my job.

The building's layout at where I work at is simplistic in nature, although it doesn't have any security camera inside, to counter act that flaw, this building uses a magical security system, composed of various magical instruments such as the presence detector and the like. Once you hop out of the entrance hub where you either go through a hidden elevator from the Chiba Police Headquarters or use a TP spell to get here, you will be greeted by the receptionist where then you will go through another door to enter in the long passage which will lead to the main office.

The entrance hub doesn't have any distinct features apart from the receptionist's desk which was vacant right now since it's late. After you go through another door besides the receptionist desk, you will be greeted by the sight of a corridor and the double door on the farther end is the entry point for the office. All the rooms are either filled with tenants who were all asleep; or are used for other purposes one of which I know in particular is used for keeping documents and files called the server room. All of the data are encrypted for security measures of course. This is where the data that I gathered came from after snooping around with my laptop, well all of the information that the specialized units have gathered are stored there.

I walked towards to the end of the hallway and promptly opened the tinted glass door with minimal effort. The glass surface felt a bit cold to touch, someone must be here because the air conditioning was on. Weird, I should've sensed someone's presence inside the office immediately apart from the tenants on the rooms. They must've left for something, I know that the cleanup crew would stand by here all night waiting for them to be called on duty, but I sensed no one in particular.

Opening the door, I expected nothing to happen.

Thud

"Ouch, that hurt." a brown haired man who looks like he just graduated from college fell right on his ass.

I hadn't noticed that at the same time I pushed the glass, someone on the other end pulled it. Resulting in the two of us colliding, out of my own professionalism and a mix of courtesy, I offered my hand to help him stand up. Seeing that brown hair, I immediately recognized who he is.

"Hikigaya-san! I almost didn't recognize you with that outfit…" He trailed off as he saw my gaze which to him looked like I'm dead serious. He is Mizayawa Shinra, the otaku who is a talented magician that came from a family whom of which served the Association since before the world wars happened.

"Um...can you please get rid of that look, its terrifying." Due to him being the youngest of his fellow brothers, he grew up being a bit of a invertebrate. It wonders me that someone like him is able to enter the specialized unit. Even with his undeniable talent as a magician, he lacks the confidence and attitude to be dispatched in combat which most of the unit have to do in almost daily basis but since I'm more of like an intern compared to the rest of the unit, I was on a limited contractual term where I can only do certain jobs. Although he is more fit than the average male here in Japan, his hobby on reading manga mellowed him out even more to not exert past the point of doing something like hurting someone.

"Were you using a concealment spell perhaps? I didn't sense your presence inside."

"I don't think so…. wait, I think I used it earlier before the cleanup crew went out. If I remembered correctly then I must've used it for myself to not be bothered by anyone." Hmm? I don't really care about the reason why he did it, I just wanted to know regardless. I can't help but say to myself that his concealment spell is better than mine and no, I'm not jealous, in fact I am impressed since I was not able to detect him which is quite clever to say the least, nothing short for someone as talented as him.

"As much as I'd like to talk with you, I really need to get going but first I need to leave this here." I bring out the small magical pouch with in my pocket.

Displaying the piece of fabric container before his eyes, he then said, "Where are you gonna put it?" When he said that, I remembered something. Shit, I almost forgot that I also went here to check on how Yoshikage is doing but as I looked towards the direction of his desk, there was no one there. He must've either went to his den or went out to get some refreshments.

Before I go and check his room, it'd be best to ask of his whereabouts to Mizayawa-san. "I'll place it on Yoshikage's desk, I'm sure he wouldn't mind, and speaking of him, where is he right now?"

"He left to Yachimata Villa around half an hour ago." He said so as a matter of fact. I mentally sighed, I didn't think the possibility of him going there might happen, well considering that I lose all communications with him that wouldn't really be impossible.

I excused myself to go to Yoshikage's desk to place the valuable baggage there, and then returned once again to the entrance but before I can reach even five meters away from the glass door, I stopped as a sudden thought interrupted me from my march. I looked at Mizayawa-san who now returned to his respective desk "By the way before I leave, I have one last thing to ask of you."

Giving me a questioning look, Mizayawa-san had his arms crossed and said, "What is it?"

"Can you teleport me to Yachimata Villa." It wasn't a question, it was more like a request by the way I said it, maybe I should've phrased that differently.

"I… think I can do it but I need to get some ink and paper first." Ink and paper? Is he gonna scribble the spell? Now that is kind of annoying and hard to do, not even I would bother writing my own talismans.

He grabbed a pen and enchanted it, then grabbed a single leave off of a rim of bond paper. He began to do his tinkering until he pauses for a second and looks at me.

"Wait for a moment, I need to find the coordinates of the villa." He grabbed his phone on the desk and after some tapping, he finally placed it back to where it used to be.

After scribbling away the last parts, the ordinary paper changed it's usual bland white color into a brownish pigmentation. Did he just turn an ordinary paper into a scroll of teleportation!? What a freak of nature!

"There! I had to know what the coordinates are first to find the nearest ley lines to it, it shouldn't be too far away." Did he use the ley lines as a gateway for the scrolls destination?! Is that even possible! Again, what a freak of nature you are, Mizayawa-san.

"Thanks, I'll repay you somehow." With that said, I grabbed the offered scroll and went outside the office and into the corridors after the both of us bid farewell to each other.

I stand there with the scroll of teleportation at hand, muttering a short chant and pouring my mana into the brown paper, it made a connection. I feel a part of mana has been connected to the scroll from my left hand, although translucent, I could still see it, It was like a thread that had been tied together, and as quickly as it settles, it disappears into thin air. I am now able to use it, but I don't think the hallway is suitable for this and besides, I don't want to wake up the people in the rooms.

Entering the entrance hub where I was teleported initially, there were was no one there which I expected, this should be a good place to do it here, not a single presence bothering me while I do what I must do.

The scroll of teleportation glowed as I activated it's magic signs. And once again, I fall into the ethereal state once again.

As much as I like to use transmission magic as my main mode of transportation, I suddenly remember why I never frequently use it on my jobs. A certain feeling, one of annoyance reminded why I absolutely loathed using transmission magic. It is uncomfortable as hell, I could accurately describe the ethereal state into this two words.

Body displacement.

It gives off the feeling of being in a free fall with a pulling force inside a fucking jet which often nauseates the user of the teleportation spell, and at the end of the ride you will either pass out or be disoriented for a while. If you're a beginner then may your karma lead you and if your body could handle it to not pass out then congratulations, your lucky as hell, but for someone like me who has already experienced those things, I still find it quite irritating, I guess you have to build a tolerance in this types of spell which includes torturing yourself to get used to it, which is what I did exactly back when I was still in training….. now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure what that drunkard did was child abuse but hey at least the training was effective? I really don't know.

Overall, I'd choose that rather sitting on a big floating iron contraption flying 9000 feet in the air filled with cramped seats, not that I'm claustrophobic. It's just sitting with strangers that I do not want to sit with makes me uncomfortable as I am socially inept, and also an introvert at my core. I really wouldn't expect a loner such as myself to go to an airport, much less to a mall.

I materialized and finally my feet touch the ground.

I was in an alleyway, and I could clearly see just a couple blocks away as I peek out, the entrance to the Yachimata Villa was there and I could also feel that the bounded field was opened up and was left there vulnerable. Damn it, Yoshikage must've forgotten about closing it back, he might invite some unwarranted guest.

I quickly shuffle around my waist to locate the holster, getting out my pistol of it's case and now in my hands, I clicked beside it's handle and the magazine came out, I chanted some enhancement spell on it and after finishing to do so, I returned it back to where it belonged.

Good, I'm already set to go inside, talismans and pistol are checked and maybe after a quick blessing from him then I will go inside.

I did my usual clap and bow and prayed to him for a moment, then I felt divine blessing pouring over me.

"Thanks…" I muttered my gratitude to Yahata for doing his thing. Even though I'm a half god, I can't create and use my powers yet because I don't know how to utilize the power within my being since I'm still a newly hatched Arahitogami. I have yet been taught on that regards, but I'm sure Yahata will show me the ropes, at least I hope so.

I silently dashed to the hole of the bounded field that has been left open by Yoshikage. After stepping inside I closed the bounded field and went to find Yoshikage.

"Help me, I'm thirsty…." A middle-aged man with a work suit said to me, judging by the way he looks, he didn't look fine. I analyzed him whether he is a human or something else, but it seems that there was nothing out of the ordinary, he must be a corporate slave.

Now the question is, what the hell is he doing here in the middle of the night. I was sure Yoshikage set the lethargy spell to all of the denizens here in this villa just before I went here- could it be that the blood sucker I fought broke interfered and broke the spell? Personally, I don't think so.

"...Hey can you let me have a drink." He's acting strange. What the hell is this guy on? My guard was up although my weapons are concealed. I didn't want a civilian to be involved in my job since most of the work I did typically tackles more in exterminating supernatural monsters, I wasn't quite sure on how to handle a situation like this.

I didn't budge at all, I was just there silently inspecting him, and waiting for something to happen.

That is until I see him lose consciousness for a moment, and then he opened his eyes. They were bloodshot.

On instinct I draw a set of talismans up my sleeves and threw them at him. As soon as the talismans hit him, I smelt something burn, the ofuda that sticked on his temple began to smolder his skin.

He screamed in pain, then I saw two fangs that made me remember the feeling I had back in my dream, then it clicked. I realized that things got even more complicated.

Creatures that stalk the night, feeding on the vital essence of the living, they are called vampires.

They are a powerful undead, easily stronger than an average youkai in comparison. They are considered to be immortal as long as they sustain their blood consumption which they get from the humans but even though they could crush a humans skull with just their hands, they are quite vulnerable to holy arsenals or anything holy yet their greatest weakness comes in the form of our source of light, the shining star of our solar system, the sun. Their skin will burn and rot under the mighty daylight. Thankfully, they are not that much of a threat at this current times as the vampire kind are barred from drinking the blood of humans which has been going on for centuries, so naturally I should be relieved that such creatures only exist in the west and are well, abiding the law that was set.

However that wouldn't have been the case for one such I, myself am facing right now. This job fueled by my own premonition, of which I had become vigilant to the point of paranoia was harder than I thought it would be, just as my partner Yoshikage said. I was too hasty on my decision, I should've put more thought into my proposal.

The hideous look on that bloodsucker would send shivers down a humans spine, I could tell that he was about to snarl at me, I hastily shot him in the forehead before he could do so, thus killing him in the process. I was relieved to know that he was not using any magic at all.

Then I began to sense multiple presences residing within the darkness. The same presence to the one that I just killed right now, I came to a grave realization. Everyone in this villa could've possibly been turned into those things.

This is worse than I thought it would be.

After knowing what I was now dealing with, I wasted no time with this ferocious bloodsuckers trying to have a go with me and immediately leaped forward into the center of the villa. Spotting a tall building, I jumped and stood there where I then scanned the whole villa to find Yoshikage's signature presence.

Closing my eyes and focusing. I feel and sense a lot of presence that surrounds the whole villa, I could tell that not a single one of them are normal humans anymore. And yes, Yoshikage is not fully human and what he is, is still a mystery for me. I filtered out the bloodsuckers presence that crowded my senses. and

There! I snapped my head to the left side, just behind that fancy looking house that resides near the end of the street. I've found where he is but he seems to be surrounded by this creatures judging the closeness of their presences.

My breath came into a constant rhythm which indicates that I have relaxed a bit as I stopped my scanning, the process of doing so doesn't really take that much out of me, but it does require me to focus into my mind. And when of doing said process, I tend to aggressively take more air in. What I did is not really a spell or anything related to magic at all. It is something that I discovered for myself when I was young, I don't know if it's just me specifically but I think lot's of talented members knows this, I think.

I narrow down my eyes at the place where I detected Yoshikage's presence, then I look at the skies which was still dark, I could still see the moon which I loathed with every being. Judging by the positioning of the moon, if I estimate it correctly- an hour and a half probably has passed after I got transmigrated?….I don't know what to call it since I didn't really ascend there.

I would have known what time it is right now but my watch got busted when I went to Tenkai. So I just kept it inside the bag of goods. Really unfortunate to happen, and that also showcases how shitty my life is. Even if I am blessed by a god, I would still sometimes find myself in this kind of situations.

Now if I had to think, it's around either 2 or 3 am right now, I think. I don't know I'm terrible at math.

What this means now for me is that, time is gold. I can't waste time, I need to finish this job as soon as possible. Right now, I have a plan that I know will definitely fit the current situation, with all of the things put into consideration, I am sure it will work. It's not a perfect plan, and it doesn't have to be, it's a plan that will undoubtedly work.

I grabbed a single piece of ofuda and absorbed all of it contents, it's purifying energy going inside my body leaving it as a blank piece of paper. Then I folded it into a triangle which slightly resemble a kunai, and sharpened the tip and edges with a simple enhancement spell.

Now the piece of paper that was once lethal to those bloodsuckers turned into a deadly weapon again. I didn't have anything sharp that I could use, and I'm not the type to use bladed weapons anyway. This should be enough to pierce through my skin, what I'm going to do is gonna be the first step of my plan.

I stretch my non-dominant left arm out, I traced my forearm with my eyes looking for a certain artery, and after finally locating it, I placed my deadly paper there and pushed it's tip, the sharp paper point piercing through my skin easily, one would expect to get a reaction. But not me, I expressed nothing when it happened, not even a wince. I dig it deeper until I finally hit my target, then I slid it down.

Blood gushed out from my newly opened wound that I inflicted upon myself. I still had no reaction whatsoever.

Blood-letting is a practice used in the old age. It is the withdrawal of blood through making small incisions. There are a lot of methods to this, but the most common was phlebotomy, in which blood was drawn from one or more of the larger external veins, and one of those large external veins happens to be located at the forearm section….that's all I know about it, I pretty much got to know this through reading a book, which I had already forgotten the title of. I don't know if I did it correctly, but at least it's squirting out blood.

I cover myself entirely with my own blood, well not really entirely. I only covered it on my clothes, and then after doing that, I healed my inflicted wound with a simple healing spell, closing in the blood to not let it out.

The first step is complete and lets see if it worked, oh it did. I feel a lot of presences coming closer to me. Using myself as bait by covering myself with my own fresh blood, I made them all focused on me. Just like how in a video game; In which the term, 'I take their aggro.' is applied here.

Now with my wound closed, I jumped down and landed in front of the crowd that had gathered up, I could tell that there were a lot of them, but it doesn't mean it was all of them, so I used another spell. A spell that will help me get all of them.

By enhancing the fragrance of the blood, and making it more even effective. I now had the attention of all of those creatures.

Now time for the next step.
