Greeed/Yummies
The night still covered the sky, the shattered moonlight partially covered by the dark yet calm clouds. As the day drew much closer for everyone, they all knew they had to be prepared for the eventual confrontation. Many were nervous but due to the training and preparations made, they had to muster the courage. However on the other side of the island, Poseidon the Grimm Greeed idly stared at the ocean waters.
His lenses hiding his boredom, his armored digits tapping against his helmet and watching the aquatic grimm he ordered to hop in and out of the water.
Sadly, the boredom eventually became frustration. His fingers curled into his palm tightly. He could hear the voices of the witch in his mind. His Grimm side wanted to obey but his Greeed side quelled the words that whispered into his mind. He may be different than the Greeed, different than the Grimm, but he is much more unique than any realize.
None were aware of what else he can do as a Greeed. Like his homunculus kin, he harbored abilities. One of which he had been using occasionally to ease his mind. The other was to create Yummies from himself and gain medals through the connection. The third ability was kept secret that will only reveal in dire situations.
He slammed his lance against the wooden raft before a small Creeper dug itself out of the sand. He gave a glance knowing he sent the beast to spy on the inhabitants of the island. The Grimm Greeed watched it shake off the sand and release an audible growl that he understood.
"Hrm…" Poseidon pondered on the information revealed to him. "So they are heading to the mainland."
It explains the increased activity from those pesky Faunus. They were preparing for battle against the hostile Faunus. They would be traveling by boat to Mistral which meant…
An opportunity.
He hummed and stood up. He flicked his wrist, ordering the small school of aquatic Grimm to huddle in formation. "Gather more of you sea dwellers. We are about to go hunting."
No one will get in his way. If they do, he will leave a trail of destruction in order to become Remnant's new god!
Remnants of Desires: After the Fall
Chapter 16: Last Day, Preparations, The Grimm Greeed
Almost two weeks have passed and everyone has finally been able to learn a lot about combat thanks to Ankh. The said Bird Greeed who happened to be in the middle of eating breakfast while a bowl of ice cream was beside him.
"Thank Brothers I don't have to deal with anymore of their crap!" Ankh grunted, eating his meal.
"You make it sound like you hated it." I quipped, earning a glare from him.
"Dealing with you morons in Beacon was already a headache!"
"Yeah, yeah. Keep saying that, Tsundere." Sun waved off with a chuckle. He yelped when the knife soared towards him in which he ducked.
"Everyone! I brought more-" Kali froze when the knife landed by the door, nearly getting her.
"Uh oh."
She saw the knife then saw Sun who remained on the ground to avoid being hit from it. Then her amber eyes saw Ankh who had his arm out with an irritated look.
"... Can someone explain to me why this happened?" She wasn't mad but the message through her tone said otherwise.
"Ankh got mad and Sun ducked to avoid a sharp knife!" Gamel happily replied, only to receive a fist to the top of his head by the crimson Greeed, knocking the gray kaijin to the ground. "Gweh!"
"Little snitch." The older blonde hissed.
"Good boy, Gamel." Kali patted his head, before she soon gripped both Ankh's and Sun's ears tightly. "You two are getting a stern talking to."
"H-Hey, Ankh started it!"
"You started it by calling me a damn Tsundere… which I'm fucking not!!!"
An eerie silence washed over in which Blake slowly moved away while I was confused as was the rest of us.
"Uh Blake?"
"He… shouldn't have said that in front of mom." Blake replied quietly. "I think… we should carry our breakfast outside. Like… right now." She immediately grabbed her plate and went to the patio outside. I saw the glowering look in Kali's eyes which became smoldering like her gaze was about to burn a hole through Ankh, twice over.
Understanding the message, I quickly grabbed my plate and did the same. Pyrrha must have noticed it too and grabbed hers and called Gamel to follow us.
The moment we left the house, we heard from Kali, "THERE IS NO LANGUAGE LIKE THAT ALLOWED IN THIS HOUSE!" We then heard Ankh and Sun yelling in fright and winced to the sound of the tea tray echoing loudly. Then the sound of a harsh slap.
"Should I be worried about that?" I asked, almost frightened based on the sounds we heard inside.
"No." My girlfriend quickly replied.
"Those sounds say otherwise." Pyrrha noted.
"Just take my advice and not say any of the extreme language in front of her like Ankh just did."
When jumped to the next sound, making us comply with her advice. Something tells me Kali gave Ankh the punishment of a lifetime.
"Why are you all eating here?" We noticed Ghira before he heard the sounds. The man sighed heavily. "Was it Ankh?"
"Ankh said a very bad word while Sun avoided the knife which nearly got Kali." Gamel replied, munching on his breakfast sandwich.
Blake's father rubbed the bridge of his nose. "If Blake said anything then you guys must seriously remember it."
"I'll keep it in mind…" I grimaced, as we soon heard soft cries from Sun and Ankh… Whatever happened, we pretend to not notice.
"Stupid… damn… pain…"
After a few hours of making preparations for the trip tomorrow, I simply ignored Ankh's complaints and murmuring due to the punishment he and Sun received. When we returned into the house earlier, all we saw was the two huddled in the corner, frightened while Kali was in her usual positive mood like nothing happened while drinking tea.
"You reap what you sow Ankh. For Hell hath no fury like a woman's scorn." I raised a finger as I placed my gathered vials of Ice Dust onto the belt strap of my outfit that was on the table.
"In translation you idiot?"
"What I mean is never upset a woman and make them angry since it is far worse than a guy being angry." I clarified.
"... Noted…" He grumbled, rubbing his back.
"Other than that… how do you feel about this task we're about to settle on?" I question him.
Ankh looked at me before he rolled his eyes with a huff. "While it is about time these people have a pair and do something, I still wonder if things will even improve when kitty cat's family retake the White Fang." He tapped his claw against his bicep. "You must remember how long the White Fang stuck themselves to the violence and conflicts they desired in order to be treated fairly."
He rotated his palm, giving a scrutinizing gaze with his crimson eyes. "They desired to be treated fairly. They tried peaceful methods but look where it ended up? No results. Violence gave them a means because it installed fear into humans. Fear into the fellow Faunus who didn't want violence." He pointed to the window. "Does your girlfriend really think that even if they turn back to peaceful methods, people will see change?"
I opened my lips but Ankh continued and added, "The Faunus who resorted to violence killed people. What of the families who mourned? What of the victims who are fellow Faunus? You think everyone will think equality will be gained by peaceful means?"
"I…" I tried to say.
"I know them, Enrique. Especially when you told me of your people's history of discrimination. Despite the 'peaceful' means, how long did it take to gain equality? And how about the discrimination that is still ongoing?"
I lowered my head but my brows furrowed and the corner of my lips curled downward. "I don't care how long it would take through the peaceful means the White Fang will use but if I learned anything from not just my home world but this world is doing something is better than doing nothing."
It may seem foolish but it was something that had to be said. Yeah, I know there have been cases of discriminatory behavior to this day back on Earth but there are still those who wish equality reigned rather than being discriminated against.
Unless someone acts in the right way to make a good difference, no changes will occur until that happens. And that is something we were all doing now to retake the White Fang. Understanding the history of the Faunus allowed me to see the similarities they shared with people in my world.
The Faunus were humans as much as everyone else. Not all Faunus were bad people. Same applies to us humans.
Ankh stared at me before he crossed his arms and perched himself on the bed. "I see…" He murmured. He didn't sound impressed or disappointed. Rather, he had an insight to what I think about the White Fang's eventual renewal.
I went back to finish loading up my gear before hanging the coat and rubbed my neck. Deep down, I was concerned about how things will go for the White Fang once we retake it. Sure the violent methods will be put to an end but what of the trail they left behind? Would everyone still be afraid of the White Fang and see them as trouble as before?
I shook my head. No, I shouldn't dwell on that for the time being. What was more important was our preparations and facing the White Fang. There is no doubt Adam will be leading in which I had to confront him. I remember how strong he was when we first fought. I was lucky the first time but this will be different.
This time, we'll make sure he fails. We have to. Not only for the Faunus but the innocent lives that could be lost again should he succeed in this plan of his.
A knock disturbed my train of thought and noticed Blake with her knuckles against the door. "Am I interrupting anything?"
I shook my head. "Not really. Ankh and I just finished talking." The said Bird Greed looked over the display screen via Candroid that projected it. "Is something wrong?"
Blake rubbed her arm and said, "I know it's getting a bit late but can we go out for a bit…? So we can talk?"
"Uh sure." I craned my head over. "I'll be gone for a bit Ankh."
"Hmph, whatever…" He huffed out.
Now I was the one to roll my eyes. He is always a prick at times. Not like we hated it, it's just how he is. I grabbed my coat and followed Blake out of the household.
It was total silence as the sun was already down in the night. I sent a glance at my girlfriend who seemed troubled about something.
"Is something wrong, Blake?" I inquired.
"It's…" She chewed her lip. "It's about what we will do in Haven Academy."
I paused my movement and saw her hands gripping the sides of her coat. "Ankh made sure everyone-"
"I'm not talking about facing the White Fang… it's about Adam." She interrupted. "We all know he will be there…"
I turned my body to fully face her. "And you are worried about how things will go given he is leading the attack."
"I do want to stop him. To stop him from taking the White Fang into a grim path." She slowly released her grip on her coat. "The thing that worries me… that scares me… is him facing you."
She lowered her gaze and continued, "I know you stopped Adam but with the year that passed since-"
"He would have taken a means to prepare himself when he sees me after he recovers from his initial loss." I crossed my arms, and looked at the sand on my left.
Given the full year that went by and myself cutting off his arm as payback, I was still reminded he wanted vengeance for his defeat. For the possible humiliation given he was the strongest member of the White Fang. He would have been training and devising a means to deal with me given our fight eventually turned around upon PuToTyra being used.
"… maybe you should stay here while the rest of us go-"
"No, Blake." I cut her off, earning a look from my girlfriend.
"But what if he finds a way? What if he succeeds? I… I just can't handle the thought of losing you…" Blake argued as she was scared of this. "You have to stay here."
"Blake, I am not going to stay here while my friends and you go there to face the White Fang. I know things haven't been easy for us and there's a lot of things that we still have to fix." I pointed to myself after lowering one arm. "I've been trying my best. My damn near best to not let myself end up repeating the same mistakes I made back on Earth. I lost one family and avoided who I was, I am not going to lose anymore. To not abandon who I am and not leave others behind."
Blake wanted to argue more as she was just terrified of this fight. But she couldn't think of anything before she simply hugged me, burying her face into my chest as she wanted me to stay so she could be reassured I would be safe. Though she also knew deep down that, I can't simply turn away anymore either.
I've gotten this far and I wasn't turning back. I would keep stepping forward regardless of whatever challenges I face. Every moment I would hold my locket to pray I-no-all of us would reunite soon. To hopefully see the rest of our friends who are family to us.
"Promise me you will survive when you face Adam." She pleaded. "Please…"
To give her assurance, I gently brushed my hand across her back. "I won't go back on my word, Blake. I'll do my best."
I winced when her fingers dug into my shirt. Her grip nearly tightened as well. She didn't want my life to be at risk anymore but I am already on a dangerous path due to the power I wield and the enemies I face. It's not every day many would end up getting such a burden that could drive any person mad and face supposedly fictional monsters who come from an alchemical project.
Thinking back on my life after losing my family, I would overhear people often comment on my complex. My ideals are questioned by them. Those ideals allowed me to take one step after another throughout the years. The ideals from my dad and sister who had such views to the world. Views that I was blinded at first until my eyes opened and changed to become who I am now. I never gave a damn about myself, but the people I met here on Remnant wanted me to care. To know I shouldn't be forever alone and feel empty - to feel whole and be with others. They have given me that. They gave me a reason to live and fight.
"If you don't come back to me… I swear, I won't forgive you…" Blake muffled through the tight hug.
I elicited a dry chuckle but nonetheless understood. Granted I would definitely have to make sure I become the victor in the upcoming challenge that awaits us.
The day finally arrived for us. We were to depart for Mistral to put a stop to Adam and the White Fang's attack on Haven Academy. Everyone has begun gathering the needed equipment for our upcoming task against the White Fang as the boat arrived not too long ago.
We helped the Faunus who were going with carrying the supplies and equipment onto our mode of transportation. The talk I had with Blake last night was still fresh on my mind. She was concerned about my safety should I face Adam again. I understand her reasons but I wasn't scared. I wasn't nervous either.
I put a stop to him before. I would do the same again.
I stared at the movements but humorously saw one moment where a few Faunus had trouble lifting some equipment until Gamel carried it all and the Faunus with it with his own two hands. The look on some people's faces was priceless.
The Gray Greeed had already become a favorite of the kids due to his behavior and his antics, especially when it came to dragging the village karts around with them in tow.
"Seems he's getting along well enough." Pyrrha said, walking up to me to keep an eye on Gamel.
"Yup." I chuckled. "...Ready to go to Mistral?"
"Well…" The redhead rubbed her arm. "I am nervous given the rest of the world thinks I am dead after Beacon fell."
"I sense a 'but' from your tone."
"That obvious?"
"You've been with us for a year. You think the three of us wouldn't notice?" I referred to Blake, Ankh, and myself.
The former Mistral Champion sighed, "But I am not worried or concerned about what I am now. I am here and that's what matters more."
I smiled. "And that's the Pyrrha we know."
Pyrrha playfully punched my shoulder, making me laugh. "I see you still haven't lost any witty remarks you have on us."
"There were some things you guys didn't expect from my former life." I retorted. Sure I often made witty remarks as a kid but that was due to my dad given he was a bit of a jokester and a prankster. Never made such remarks or comments like that after my life changed. Well almost given I did tend to do that to the others here on Remnant.
"Well, just make sure to save it once this is over. I'm sure we all could use something to lighten the mood." Pyrrha noted.
"Roger that." I joked with a mock salute. The both of us ended up laughing before we suddenly heard the crumpling of plastic. We saw Ankh behind us with his treat in hand and began to eat while tossing aside the wrapping.
"If you two are done messing around, we better head to the boat. It departs in a few minutes." He walked ahead while biting into his icy treat.
"Ankh! Pick trash up!" Gamel pointed to him before he and the kids recited to picking up trash.
The blonde felt his brow twitch and glared, making the kids hide behind the brutish Greeed.
"Seems kids like Gamel more than you, Ankh." Sun quipped.
*WHAM!*
Instead of Gamel, it was Sun who received the blow to the top of his head and sent the Monkey Faunus to the dirt. Comically, there was smoke coming from the top.
"Don't push it, monkey." Ankh shook his Greeed hand to relax the artificial joints in his talons.
"Did I hear someone fight?" Kali's voice asked in the distance.
The two blondes froze and immediately rushed to the boat with haste to avoid Blake's mother. I shook my head and decided to be the one to pick up the wrap from the ground.
The Huntress and I saw Blake, her parents, and Ilia as they had their necessities for the trip to Mistral.
"Is everyone else aboard?" Ghira asked.
"Yup. Gamel already got the last of the supplies onto the boat." Pyrrha confirmed. "We are ready as well."
Ghira inhaled and breathed out. He knew what we would do would change the White Fang. Given his former leadership, we would be taking back the organization and bringing it back to its peaceful views. "Alright then."
"Let's go save Haven Academy!" I announced.
The boat ride would take time that I knew given it took us two days to get to Menagerie. Thus this trip would take hours but thankfully we would be arriving the day Adam and the White Fang begin their assault on Haven Academy. I walked across the portside of the boat and saw the occasional Faunus talking regarding the upcoming battle.
Some were nervous, some were concerned, and some looked uneasy. Uneasy on the boat ride since some couldn't hold their stomachs. It brought a brief memory of my arrival to Beacon Academy. I stifled a small chuckle at the recollection but paused and wondered about Ruby and the others.
What were they doing now? Would we ever see them again? Those were the first few things in mind but it was also the trials we have faced thus far. My hand reached to the locket, and looked down at it. Pressing the key, it opened to reveal the old family photo. With a soft exhale, I closed it and placed it back under my shirt.
"Thinking about your family?" Blake asked as she walked up, with a drink in hand for me.
"More like how things are right now." I admitted.
Blake's cat ears fell flat slightly and murmured, "I know what you mean…" she looked at her fellow kin. "Despite our preparations, some are nervous… but I know we all share the same thought - to stop the White Fang."
"And it won't be easy… and what Ankh said."
"What did Ankh say?"
"The White Fang had already had blood on their hands the moment they resorted to violence. Some people may forget, but they won't ever forgive." I quoted Ankh's words. "People may see the White Fang change to its peaceful methods but they won't forget the blood they spilled. Some will not even agree to its peaceful solution and continue to resort to the violence."
The words made Blake grimace and glance at the Bird Greeed who was leaning against the railing on the other side of the boat.
"... He isn't wrong…"
Even if the White Fang returns to its pacifism, there will be people who won't ever forget the things they have done. Especially when there are Faunus who agree with Adam's and Sienna's ideals.
Ankh was right regardless. He may be sharp but as one person once said, 'truth hurts more than lies.' It's part of reality.
"Will everyone truly forgive the White Fang…?" she murmured.
"You guys just have to prove the White Fang isn't what they were in the past. Rather show them the future the White Fang can do peacefully." I stated.
"You're right…" She smiled softly as she leaned her head against my shoulder. "To always look ahead rather than looking back. Right?"
I nodded and turned my focus to Ankh. I know those were harsh words to say but he was right no matter what. It was why he is smarter than people realize. As a tactician of the late Multi-King, he knew how things work, planning carefully, and formulating plans to have the upper hand in battle.
We will be ready and-
The boat suddenly rocked violently, making all of us stagger to regain our footing. "What was that?!" Looking over, we saw glowing red eyes within the water surrounding the boat. "Grimm?!" We exclaimed.
"Why would they even stop the boat?! Wouldn't they attack immediately in such groups?!" Sun asked incredulously.
A burst of water erupted in front of us before we saw Poseidon, his sights set on me.
"That Greeed." Ankh frowned, realizing the halt of their progress. "He commanded those things to make sure we don't move."
"W-Wait, are you saying that…" The monkey Faunus realized.
"Yes. His power as a Greeed - he can command Grimm to his bidding."
The revelation shocked all of us. The evil Rider was able to command the Grimm. This was his power as a Greeed.
Grimm were soulless monsters by nature but to discover this? It was unbelievable and horrifying. Poseidon had the power to control the Grimm as his pets.
Poseidon twirled his crimson lance and slammed the weapon against the floorboard, creating an echo. It was utter silence until Blake's and the other Faunus' ears twitched and all looked up. I did so as well as Pyrrha, Ankh, and Gamel. It was the sound of buzzing.
"You gotta be kidding me…"
In the air was a swarm of wasp-like Grimm. I remember those from Professor Port's class! Those were Lancers!
I quickly brandished my weapon as did Pyrrha, Blake, Sun, Gamel, and Ankh.
"This guy is crazy!" Sun exclaimed.
"Think what you may, it is only showing this Greeed is an abomination with its other half being part Grimm." Ankh clicked his tongue in frustration. "A formidable type. Fighting it here is a problem however."
We didn't like it either given Poseidon was preventing us from reaching Mistral. The Grimm Hybrid raised his lance, pointing at us. His lenses gleamed red before returning to its yellow color. The Lancers immediately changed directions and gathered while flying towards us.
"Everyone down!" Blake shouted as we all ducked to the ground, allowing the Lancers to fly over us. Some of the Faunus huddled each other in fear as the swarm moved around before returning to the sky.
"We have to take care of that swarm!" Ghira yelled.
"Pyrrha! Use Proto-Birth and the Birth Buster!" Ankh barked, tossing the redhead the rifle. "Everyone else stay close to those with shields! Gamel. You and the lizard girl will protect the chieftain and his wife!"
He then jabbed at me. "Enrique. You, Blake, and Sun handle that bastard!"
"And you?!" Ilia demanded.
Ankh growled and aimed his Greeed arm, unleashing a fireball that caused a small group of Lancers to become ashes. "You were saying?"
"N-Nevermind."
Pyrrha and myself grabbed our respective buckles and placed them on our waists. With the Medals placed into the buckles, we initiated our personal activations. "Henshin!"
TAKA!
TORA!
BATTA!
TA-TO-BA, TATOBA TA-TO-BA!
Our armors formed, allowing the redhead to use the Proto-Cutter Wings to take flight with her rifle to handle the Lancers while Blake, Sun, and I handled Poseidon. I readied the Tora claws while my girlfriend and friend had their weapons set.
Poseidon growled angrily before he rushed to the three of us, mainly me. With a bellow, he swung the lance horizontally but Sun used his Semblance to summon two clones and stop the lance.
"Out of my way, you monkey filth!!" Poseidon hissed in annoyance.
"Not a chance!" Poseidon raised his head to witness Sun with his cheeky grin and staff. However Poseidon stomped the boat, causing a sudden rupture of water to whip out and slap Sun away.
"Guh!" Sun grunted when his back hit the wall of the boat.
With his focus gone, the clones vanished but it didn't stop Blake and I from delivering our respective attacks onto his armor. The Grimm Greeed staggered slightly in which he reached to the water and caused it to gather in his hand and become a second lance. But then there were eight other water projectiles hovering around him.
"Okay… that… that isn't fair." Sun said.
"This armor is more than simple protection you brats! It is called Poseidon for a reason! The water is mine to command!" He made four projectiles soar to us.
"Get behind me!" I popped a vial of Ice Dust open and used my Semblance to create a shield in front of us. Blake and Sun quickly moved behind as I buckled to the continuous barrage of water hitting the wall of ice.
I gritted my teeth as did Blake and Sun. The barrage continued endlessly, causing bits of ice to slowly break away. I focused on my Semblance to repair it but the pressure only briefly made me lose focus.
"I will kill you one way or another, OOO! If it means to kill every single animal on this boat!" He stabbed the boat, allowing more projectiles to rise up but from above much to our horror. "I will be god one way or another!"
"HRAAAAAH!" Poseidon lost focus when a pair of large arms tackled him, making the water splash onto us and his lance clattering onto the boat. I took a moment to breathe upon the constant repairs I made to the ice wall. Poseidon gritted as his feet skidded across the port of the boat. His armored claws met the claws of Ghira.
"Dad!"
Poseidon firmly planted his feet, slowly breaking the wood he stood on. He grunted slightly as his yellow lenses met the vicious yellow eyes of the chieftain.
"Your grudge is nothing more than a poison…. And for that, I shall not let you harm a single hair on these young lives!" Ghira declared.
Poseidon was slowly being forced to kneel by the man's brute strength. With a snarl of anger, his lenses turned red as blood and roared. It sounded ominous to all of us as it sounded like more of a beast of darkness than a kaijin. Ghira's brows knit in shock when Poseidon began to push back and slam his foot onto Ghira.
The man grunted but the man felt his head held and was met with a helmet to the face, knocking him back. Ghira groaned as blood trailed from the cut on his forehead.
Poseidon touched the fin on his helmet and flicked the blood back at the Faunus chieftain since the blood belonged to him. Blake and Khali rushed to him in fright.
The red lenses returned to its yellow color but I took notice of it. Poseidon must have tapped into his Grimm nature to harness that level of strength. Like his own anger fueled it… now it makes sense to why he was able to counter me numerous times. His anger towards me is stronger thus his negativity boiled into power. Grimm are drawn to it but since he was a hybrid, it acted like a steroid.
My fingers curled before I rushed towards Poseidon with a battle cry. Poseidon immediately turned his focus on me instead of Ghira and picked up his weapon to stop my claws.
"No matter how many bodies. No matter how many Yummies or Grimm I have to waste, it will never end until your death is delivered by my hand for Gara!"
"I won't die here by the freak you are!" I ducked at the swing and tackled Poseidon towards the railing of the boat. I winced when he slammed his knee and elbow onto my armor. But I gripped his buckle in which Poseidon immediately forced me off and grabbed my neck to protect his Core Medals. He slammed my helmet into the railing, causing others to wince as the railing bent horribly in the shape of a deep curve. My head was ringing like a bell, my vision disoriented.
"This freak has gathered enough darkness and such a desire to keep me going to fight you. To be god mightier than those Brothers!"
I raised my head slightly but from the corner of my eye, I saw Blake quietly loading up Earth and Fire Dust Rounds while Sun summoned another copy.
"Well think twice before you act, jackass!" With the Batta Legs, I kicked him forward in which the copies Sun conjured pinned Poseidon against the broken railing. I quickly used ice to keep Poseidon in place. "Now, Blake!"
She fired the first bullet at Poseidon. The Earth Round first which caused rocks to appear on his armor but it was the instability of the rock that made it useful.
"This is goodbye." She said and pulled the trigger again as the fire round hit the rock embedded on Poseidon, causing a miniature explosion that took out a railing and the spot Poseidon was on.
We lowered our arms in time to notice the Lancers have been vanquished as Proto-Birth landed safely with us. We deactivated our Drivers as the smoke cleared.
"Nice one, Blake." Sun gave a thumb up of approval while Kali tended to Ghira's head wound.
I approached the railing that was intact and looked over the water.
"Anything?" Saber asked as he handed Kali the medical kit.
"The explosion was strong so it would have dealt a blow…" I observed. "He should have lost a Core Medal from that amount of damage."
"Whatever that thing was, it's gone now."
"That should take care of it then." I sighed. "Let's get the boat going and–"
The water burst high once again before I felt a pair of armored arms grab me and leap back into the water. I tried to reach out but failed as I saw Poseidon being responsible, dragging me deeper into the water.
"Enrique!" Blake called out in fright.
I struggled in Poseidon's grip, trying to prevent myself from inhaling the water.
"You will drown here you bastard!" I winced upon the hold on my throat tightening. However I had to inhale something either way. It was more painful by the second, my vision slowly blurring.
The water was becoming darker as my brain was screaming for the need for more oxygen. The kick of my legs slowed down and my vision darkened as well.
From my sights, I caught something splashing into the water. I squinted my eyes and noticed something hurriedly swam towards us both. No, not something - it was someone. The person who was swimming towards us was the familiar Faunus - Ilia.
She swam towards us both, her weapon tightly in one hand as she pedaled downward. The Chameleon Faunus gripped Poseidon's arms and tried to pull but the evil Rider wasn't allowing it. She gagged slightly when he kicked her stomach making me squirm.
However I saw something glimmering in Ilia's other hand. She swam towards us again and now I saw what it was.
The three Blue Core Medals. Ilia hurriedly took Taka, Tora, and Batta but bubbles of water escaped her lips due to the kick earlier. She was starting to lose air. I quickly used my Semblance to allow ice to appear in which Ilia grabbed it, understanding the message.
With a heft, she thrust the ice into Poseidon's hand, forcing him to release me and allowing her to place the three blue Medals into the buckle.
SHACHI!
UNAGI!
TAKO!
SHA-SHA-SHAUTA! SHA-SHA-SHAUTA!
The crests aligned and formed the familiar Marine Combo. The water in my lungs no longer affected my breathing and I was able to properly breathe in the water. With the Tako Legs appearing, I swam to Ilia and made a bubble appear over her head. She inhaled and exhaled the air she temporarily needed, touching the bubble her head was in. Just in time.
She nodded to me which I returned. I swam towards Poseidon and rolled over, using the Tako Legs to simultaneously deliver a barrage of jabs onto his armor. The evil Rider shoved me back with his lance but I returned to him with another set of jabs. And that was just the thing I needed to do, allowing four tentacles to grip Poseidon.
"Ilia, use your whip, now!" I ordered, but it made her hesitant given I was holding Poseidon in place for her. "Just do it!"
Ilia bit her lip but complied, flicking her weapon towards Poseidon. The attack caused an electrical surge around Poseidon but it also affected me as a result given he was in my grip.
I held back a scream of pain but Poseidon also experienced the agony of the electrical energy harming him underwater. It split both of us apart but it was the opening I needed and conjured the water around Poseidon, trapping him in a watery bubble. Then, I twisted my palm, forcing the water orb to freeze into a ball of ice. Ilia and I watched the ball of ice descend deeper into the watery depths below.
A gargle startled me, in which I saw Ilia now required more air. Out of haste, I grabbed Ilia and made our way to the surface.
Blake and the others worriedly waited as they watched for any movement in the water. It was starting to scare them of the possible fate but a geyser erupted like a cyclone before they saw OOO with Ilia over his back.
I landed on my feet but fell to my knees while I released Ilia to allow her to cough out the water. My armor was dismissed and I did the same, my lungs in need of the air I lost earlier and from the water in my stomach no thanks to Poseidon.
Two Faunus quickly set towels over us as the Chameleon Faunus and I regained air into our lungs after regurgitating the water.
"Where's Poseidon?!"
"He's…" I coughed harshly. "Somewhere deep within the water. Ilia… electrocuted him and I froze him."
"While he may not last long in it, it may give us enough time to flee. Prepare to sail as fast as possible!" Ankh ordered out, as we all knew continuing to face him would cause more problems given what he displayed not too long ago.
"I'm so glad you two are alright." Blake said with relief, hugging us, "I-I was scared if you two didn't come back up…"
"Ilia needs more compliments… She… saved me after all. Otherwise I don't… think I'd be up here." I noted the shivering Chameleon Faunus beside me.
"I-I… hope.. T-T-This… shows how… I c-changed…. Right?" Ilia shivered from the cold water and trying to warm up.
Blake smiled at us both and helped us stand while Kali and Saber tended to Ghira. The attack left minimal harm to anyone but Ghira, myself, and Ilia had to recover for the time being given Poseidon nearly killed us.
Returning inside the boat, Ilia and I took our seats as Blake went to grab needed supplies to help us both. The last thing we need is for us to catch a cold or deal with our damp clothes.
Staring at the heating lantern, I glanced at Ilia who shivered slightly. Having traits of a Chameleon, the cold doesn't do well for her.
I reached my hand out as Ilia shifted a bit but she saw the cold water solidify but crawl off her and towards my waiting hand. She watched in surprise as the cold essence that remained on her moved to the growing ice in my hand.
Ilia looked at herself and found herself not shivering like before. "How did you…?"
"Ice is practically frozen water and since the water is cold, I can solidify it into ice and move it away." I explained as Blake returned and sat with us.
"I hope this helps?" Blake said, offering two warm cups of tea to the two of us.
"Thanks." Ilia was the first to grab the cup before I did. She took a sip and I could see the coloring of her skin slowly return to its normal shade. However the only thing I wanted was to tell Ilia my gratitude for saving me.
"Ilia… thank you." I grunted.
She turned to me before looking down at her tea, still albeit shy from more positive interactions than before. "I'm… just repaying my debt… to you both is all…. I still feel like I shouldn't be here…"
Ilia felt a hand on her shoulder, allowing her to see Blake's amber eyes. "If you didn't… my dad would have died. Enrique… everyone else on this boat would have perished because of Poseidon. If anything, you did what was the right thing. None of us expected you to take the three Core Medals to give to Enrique." She remembered seeing Ilia quickly grab the book and ask Gamel something, leading to her diving into the water with whatever she took. Now she knew what it was. "Not only Enrique is thanking you. Not just me either but I am sure everyone else is glad you helped stall Poseidon." She smiled. "Really, thank you."
The young Faunus smiled softly, gaining a soft blush from the praise as she nodded, "I just hope I'm doing enough is all… But… I guess this is a start?" She said before sipping the tea.
"A start for all of us." Blake stood up and looked out the small glass. "This time… we will be ready to take back the White Fang and stop Adam. All of us."
I smiled and agreed with Blake. Looking at my tea, my eyes dimmed at Poseidon's words. No matter how much he made, no matter how many bodies, or the Grimm he wasted, he will kill me one way or another. Even if it means ridding the obstacles in his path.
I can only wonder which one of us will stand… and the other to fall.
Deep within the depths below, the subterranean Grimm swam about as the large ball of ice remained still. However the said creatures quivered to something as the red marks gleamed. Immediately they all converged and began to chomp onto the ice. Their bone-like teeth ravaged the frozen water and with enough force, softened it.
With their order done, they moved away to the command.
A pitch black claw with bone plating burst out of the ice and slowly curled into a fist.

"Slightly scared… but I have to believe this will work." she responded. "Retaking the White Fang is what we have to do."
Upon his command, the White Fang began their assault against the airships above to shoot out the lights from the Mistral Police and the Menagerie Faunus. It became a Battle of Haven Academy.
I froze mid step and felt my heart stop for a brief second when I noticed Blake wasn't alone.
Next time: Arrival, Battle of Haven, Longtime Reunions
A/N: Looks like the abilities of the Grimm Greeed have finally been revealed folks! Allow me explain further into its abilities given its a unique yet complete Greeed: It has the ability to control Grimm of all types into his thrall and understands them. They would obey Poseidon, ignoring all other commands and capable of making Grimm Yummies from them. As to its third ability, that is something you will have to find out. Another thing is its use of the Poseidon combo. Given we have seen it capable of underwater combat and movement as seen in the OOO x Fourze Movie War Mega Max, it never explained further regarding its other combo capabilities but given its name, we can presume it involves water to match its title.
Now to the publishing schedule when this story is finished. Since I want each story completed in time, here is what I have planned AFTER this story is complete:
When After the Fall is completed, A Specter's Testament and Kamen Rider Eternal: Song of Eternity will be updated every Sunday afternoon which will begin at the middle of August (to my assumption based on current publishing schedule). There would be occasional updates of one of the other stories. You must realize I have been busy with workd thus giving me less time to update but you have my word around August, I will do my best to update the other stories when this one is finished.
Don't forget to leave a review, favorite, and follow this story. See you all later!
