"That was the quickest pizza deliver…" Chloe's voice hitches once the door is fully open and ocean blue eyes meet watery storm blue.
"Bec?"
"Ahh hi?" Beca breathes out uncomfortably.
Chloe stands frozen in place aside from the occasional blinking.
"Look, I know this is very stalker-ish and I know this outfit really isn't pleading my case". Chloe's attention snaps back into the conversation and her cerulean blue eyes follow the path of the singer's hand that gestures down the length of her body. "But I really needed to see you"
The taller woman sighs and quickly glances over her shoulder as looks down the hallway before she meets Beca's gaze again.
"Ok, just not here" she looks back over her shoulder. "Mum, I'm just going out for a bit, can you watch Soph for me?" Chloe peeks back at the brunette and offers an awkward smile.
"Of course! But won't the pizza be here shortly?" An older voice sounds from somewhere in the house.
"Yeah, it's all paid for so just answer the door when someone knocks" the daughter explains as she reaches for a maroon coat hanging on the hook just to the left of her.
"C'mon" Chloe grabs Beca's hand as she walks past her and pulls the brunette until she starts to follow then let it go. The singer's heart drops the same moment her hand does. "I know somewhere we can go".
Beca doesn't know what's more awkward, the lack of talking or how loud the breaking of twigs is beneath their shoes that in turn cuts through the silence. Either way, she continues to follow the redhead up a small incline until they reach the top. There's a small barbecue area and field to the right of them but Chloe keeps walking until she stops at the set of swings sat adjacent to the barbecue hut. The two women take a swing each and remain silent as they both look out over the view of the city in the distance.
"Woah, I didn't even realise we were this far out of the city" the confused brunette voices.
"Yeah, the distance definitely sneaks up on you" the redhead offers whilst avoiding eye contact. She keeps looking out over the peaceful view as Beca patiently waits beside her.
"I'm sorry I ran, Bec"
"Why did you?"
"Sophia had a really bad allergic reaction…"
"Oh my god! Is she ok?" The singer cuts in and for the first time since they left Chloe's house, the redhead finally looks at her.
"Yeah, she's ok. Just a bit shaken up and clingy. I've got a lot of cuddles out her since I've been back" the redhead chuckles but it sounds forced. She looks down at her feet as she starts to kick the dirt beneath her converses.
"Truthfully though Bec, I think I was just looking for an excuse to leave"
"Oh" suddenly the brunette finds her own shoes entertaining to look at.
"I should've just talked to you about how I was feeling instead of just running away. I'm sorry, Beca"
"I didn't realise it had changed for you" Beca's voice was practically a whisper at this point. "Our feelings; I mean"
"They didn't change. I still feel the same as I did the whole time I was in that house" the younger woman's neck snaps to the right so she can see the other woman beside her who still refuses to look up from her feet.
"It changed for you though, didn't it?" Chloe finally looks up from the ground with sad eyes.
"What are you talking about? It never changed for me, Chlo"
Sad ocean blue eyes quickly turn angry.
"Oh, so you just kiss every other girl while you have feelings for me? You take every other girl on a one-on-one date aside from me?" The redhead spits out as she angrily stands from her swing and starts pacing in front of a shocked Beca. "You have a funny way of showing you have feelings for someone, Beca!"
"What are you even talking about?" The brunette rises from her own swing and walks over to the pacing woman.
Chloe stops to face the singer and scoffs. "Unbelievable"
"Do you want to talk about unbelievable, Chloe? How about falling for a woman who is the kindest person you'll ever meet. Who sticks up for and fights for people who are too afraid to do it themselves. A woman who is smart and funny and really fucking beautiful. I didn't expect much to come out of this stupid fucking show. But I certainly didn't expect to fall for someone only to end up being played. And then for her to turn around and put the blame all on me"
Both women stand in front of each other with their chests visibly rising and falling with rage.
"Are you forgetting that I gave you the first Rose, Chloe? The fucking love at first sight, cliche as hell; Lavender Rose!"
Recognition visibly registers on the redhead's face and the anger in the brunette's voice dissipates.
"I never used a single date card for you, Chloe, because that rose gave you not just one but two single dates. It was all up to you, Chloe"
"Oh" Chloe drops her head as her eyes find something captivating about her shoes once again.
"That's seriously all you have to say?" Beca's arms raise to just below shoulder level until she lets gravity take them back to her side as she shakes her head.
"Well then why did you kiss Kommissar?" The redhead's voice is so small Beca struggles to hear it.
"I didn't?"
It's the taller woman's turn to snap her head up to catch the brunette's gaze.
"But Kommissar came back from your date bragging about how you two made out?"
"Well I don't know who she made out with but it certainly wasn't me"
Beca slowly takes a step towards the woman in front of her.
"She did lean in and try to kiss me but I pulled away"
"You did?" Cerulean blue eyes plead for the truth.
"It felt like I was cheating on you"
Another step is taken.
"Chlo, I don't know how many times I have to tell you this but I wanted you to be the one standing there at the end"
Another step.
"And when you left it was the end because having someone else in your place was never an option"
Another step and suddenly all the space between them disappears.
"I'm an idiot" Chloe brings her hands to cover her face as she hangs her head down.
"Yep," the shorter woman pops the 'p' as she brings her hands up to the redheads and slowly peels them away from her face. "It's lucky that I have a thing for idiots" The brunette wiggles her eyebrows.
Chloe chuckles "Really?" She questions without a hint of belief in her voice.
"It's a very specific type of idiot. Legend says that there's only one person on this whole planet that meets the criteria" Beca smirks.
"Oh yeah? And who is this lucky person?" The redhead asks as she rests her forehead against the brunettes.
"You" Beca whispers against Chloe's lips before she captures them between her own.
"Oh my god Bec, stop freaking out" Chloe chuckles as she pulls Beca's sweaty hand until they're standing in the same spot in front of the front door where Beca stood a month ago.
"But what if she doesn't like me?" The brunette asks in a small voice which causes the redhead to pause as she was reaching for the doorknob. She turns around to face the woman behind her.
"Bec" the redhead grabs ahold of the singer's other hand and pulls her closer. "She's going to love you"
The two share a brief kiss.
"How do you know?" Beca questions as she pulls back slightly.
"Because she loves every one"
The shorter woman scoffs. "I don't know if that makes me feel better or less special"
The redhead laughs as she turns back around and opens the door. "Come on you big scaredy-cat"
"Mommy!" A petite, curly-redhaired toddler exclaims happily as she stands up from her seat at a tiny, wooden desk sat in the middle of the lounge room and runs over to her mother.
"Hey Baby" the older redhead coos sweetly as she bends down to her daughter's height. "I have someone special I'd like you to meet" Chloe looks over her shoulder and almost laughs at the nervous expression adorning her girlfriend's face.
Beca crouches down to the same level as the two redheads.
"Hi Sophia, I'm Beca" the brunette extends her hand in front of her causing the toddler's eyebrows to furrow.
The smaller redhead looks curiously to her mother who just rolls her eyes causing the toddler to smirk as she turns back to the singer. Her smirk turns into a wide, toothy smile as crashes her tiny body into Beca's in a tight hug.
"Hi, Beca!" Sophia says happily as she hugs the stranger as though this wasn't their first meeting. The brunette finally brings her arms around the toddler and hugs her delicately as though she doesn't want to crash the small child. Very much the opposite to the hug she's currently receiving from said child.
"Wanna come draw with me?" The mini version of Chloe asks as soon as she pulls back causing a large smile to erupt on Beca's face.
"Absolutely"
Sophia excitedly grabs ahold of Beca's (somewhat less sweaty) hand and guides her over to her small, wooden desk. She forces the older woman to sit in a chair that is far too small for even her petite stature. But Beca does as she's told because she could never say no to Chloe's ocean blue eyes much less say no to them on a 3-year-old child.
The singer braces her hands out beside her waiting for the impending fall as she warily lets the kid's chair take her body weight. Once she trusts the chair (as much as she can) she looks up to see Chloe watching on with a teary smile adorning her face. Beca's own stormy blue eyes start to fill with water.
"I love you" is silently mouthed.
"I love you too"
