What's Jim to do when he is kidnapped by a member of an unknown species that insists on looking at the T'hy'la bond in his mind? Though he doesn't have one, does he? The other day I saw Star Trek Beyond, and began to wonder- what kind of diversity statement must Starfleet have? How the heck do you protect the rights of what is literally infinite diversity in infinite combinations? This is what I came up with.

Determined to save the Ship and its crew Kirk planes a rescue mission. Afraid the crew wonders what will become of them. Will Star fleet reassign them to a new ship together or separate them?

When Kirk's first landing party assignment turns anything but routine, he find himself injured and alone .. and in the middle of a planet's civil war. With Enterprise out of reach, it's up to Spock to keep Kirk alive. As help arrives, Kirk is left needing to solve a mystery and to find the last of his men now left behind.

What happened to Kirk in between the time when he died and when he woke up again? If anyone ever asked him, he'd simply reply that he was Elsewhere and change the subject. And if he sometimes referred to a Would Have Been, he at least knew what he meant by that. And if there was a challenge that he would mention from time to time, well, everyone knew he never turned down a dare.
