Hello this is Rebooted-15. This is my first fanfic and I hope you enjoy. I was influenced by UrBoirPedro-12's story 'House of Glass' and decided to make my own version of a stuck up Hinata.

I do not own Naruto, those rights are reserved for Kishimoto and the other creators of Naruto

'This is a character's thoughts'

Naruto ran through the streets of Konoha, panting as he had been fleeing for his life for the past hour and 30 minutes. A mob had formed after he had pranked a storekeeper after he had been forcibly kicked out of said shopkeeper's clothing store the day before.

Naruto had been able to lose the mob a few times thanks to spending many nights wandering around the streets of Konoha. Though when a few chunin had decided to join the fun Naruto was forced to pull out all the stops to try and escape the rage blinded mob.

Naruto was able to find a place to hide just as he heard the rumble of over 40 pairs of feet rushing past his hiding spot. His current location was on the roof of one of the many apartment buildings of the ninja village in a Pigeon coop. While most people would find the fit uncomfortable, little 5 year-old Naruto fit perfectly in the rundown coop. The pigeon coop was clearly left unattended seeing as the lock on the door was busted and there were several holes in the roof allowing for water to pool up on the floor in buckets caked in rust.

Seeing that he wasn't in any immediate danger Naruto decided to think of where else he could go to hide from the mob. Unfortunately the only places Naruto could think of were Ichiraku's and the Hokage Monument. These places were unfortunate due to that if he hid at Ichiraku's, Old Man Teuchi and Ayame-chan could be hurt if the mob found him. Naruto wouldn't let some of the few people who treated him like a person be at risk of being hurt like he had. That left the hokage monument, though that would mean having to sneak across the village with ninja that could wipe out a small group of bandits without breaking a sweat searching for him.

Naruto didn't get much time to consider more options because he heard "Fireball Jutsu" being shouted outside of his temporary safe haven. Acting quickly Naruto bursted through the door of the shed and sped off to the Hokage Monument as quickly as his legs could carry him. Being that Naruto had been running from angry mobs of civilians every week since he was 4 and then from mobs with ninjas every now and then, Naruto had the speed of a mid level genin.

Having only one thought running through his head Naruto ignored the kunai and shuriken that were being thrown to disable him. Unfortunately this focus also caused Naruto to only realize at the last second that one of those kunai had an explosion tag on it.

Trying to protect himself Naruto lifted his arms to form a cross in front of himself. The explosion launched Naruto into the local park that the other children played in with their friends, something only found in Naruto's dreams. Naruto slammed into a tree next to a walkway of the park and was knocked unconscious.

On a bench in said park, 5 year-old Hinata Hyuga sat with her mother who held Hinata's baby sister, Hanabi, in her arms. "Hinata why don't you go play with the other kids? I'm sure they'd love to play with you" said her mother, Hitomi Hyuga, wife of the Hyuga Patriarch Hiashi Hyuga. "W-w-what if I-I-I m-make a m-mistake and they-they laugh at m-me?" replied Hinata.

"Well you'll never know if you never try Hinata '' Hitomi told her Daughter. Hinata was filled with courage with her mother's words and started shuffling to the other girls. Unfortunately after going six feet Hinata lost her confidence and ran back to her mother, clinging to her legs. Hitomi had hoped that Hinata would open up more around other kids her age but it only seemed to worsen Hinata's lack of confidence. Seeing that sitting on the bench wouldn't do any good Hitomi decided a change of scenery would do the trio well even though Hanabi was currently sleeping in her mother's arms after screaming and crying at the compound for an hour. Only when Hitomi or Hinata held Hanabi would the screaming stop.

Getting up from the bench Hitomi made sure Hanabi was safely in the sash that had been used to help carry the child and then took Hinata's hand and started walking around the park hoping that Hinata's nerves would calm down with a little walking.

Hinata found holding her mother's hand to be comforting, like no matter what happened her mother would be able to help her get through it together. Hinata wished she could have the confidence her mother had. When her mother walked into the room she demanded respect and people gave it. Even the elders had to admit she was an intimidating woman. Hinata then scolded herself for not being more confident and not playing with the other kids. The pink haired girl and blonde girl looked nice, but Hinata was just too scared to say hi.

Walking down the pathway Hinata enjoyed the cool breeze that passed by and the trees that provided shade on hot summer days. After a few minutes of walking in silence Hinata started hearing some shouting coming from outside the park. She turned to her mother and asked "Mother, what are those people shouting about?". Hitomi was about to respond when an explosion went off and a blond blur flashed in front of them. Hitomi followed the blur to a tree that had a little blond boy with whiskers on his face at the bottom.

Motherly instincts kicking in Hitomi rushed to the little boy, much to Hanabi's discomfort. Seeing a trickle of blood running down his head Hitomi realized this boy needed medical attention and fast. After handing Hanabi to Hinata, Hitomi picked up the little boy. Hitomi then called for the guards that had been tailing them a couple yards back and within seconds 3 battle ready Hyugas appeared. Instructing one of the guards to take Hinata home, Hitomi then led the other two to the hospital. Hinata was worried about the boy but wouldn't dis-obey her mother, so she didn't argue.

Hitomi kicked into her rusted ninja skills and left across building roofs to the hospital. Her two guards followed her to make sure no one interfered. The chunin that had been hunting Naruto decided to quit after seeing the Hyuga Clan Head's wife and daughter with the boy. Though they didn't get far in their return home when two anbu appeared and killed the two chunin on the spot. Following the Anbu code of "nothing left behind" the Anbu cleaned up the blood and bodies to the point where not even an Inuzuka could tell there had been a killing there.

Arriving at the Hospital Hitomi informed a nurse that the boy in her arms needed immediate attention. After much hesitation, Naruto was taken into a room. A doctor came in shortly after and hoped to wrap it up quick since no one wanted to be in the same room as the "Demon Child" for long. However, after scanning his body he realized that the boy had severe damage to the skull, heart, and lungs. Deciding that healing the child would be better than facing the Hyuga Clan Head's Wife, the doctor worked to heal the boy's injuries knowing that there would be no fooling someone with the byakugan.

After 30 minutes of tiring work the doctor exitted and informed Hitomi that the boy will be fine with some rest. Hitomi enter the room and looked at the poor child. Now being able to take a close look Hitomi was able to identify the child from his unnaturally yellow hair and fox-like whiskers upon his cheeks as the so-called Demon Brat. Knowing of his burden thanks to her husband being a clan head Hitomi knew that this little boy before her was not the Kyuubi, but in fact its jailor. Seeing him in such a state made the Hyuga Mother's heart ache. Seeing that there was nothing more she could do, she decided it was time to go home and change out of her robes that now had blood on it. Telling one of the guards with her to guard the room Hitomi walked home thinking about ways she could help this little boy.

'What happened? I was running across a rooftop and then an explosion tag went off… wait is this death? Why does it hurt so much?' Naruto started to wake up and took in his surroundings 'a hospital? When did I get here?'. Not knowing when or how he got there Naruto decided to wait and ask one of the nurses. Trying to pass the time Naruto started to think of when the next sale at the grocery store he goes to will be. Thankfully, the owners didn't care that he was the demon brat, all they saw was another customer buying from their poor, little business that boasted less than 5 regular customers.

The Next Day

Hiruzen Sarutobi is an old man who is running on fumes with the will to do paperwork. The work of a hokage was not meant for a man of 82 years of age. Yesterday he had been informed by his Anbu that he was now down two chunin, and that Naruto was currently in the hospital.

The old Hokage grew sad as he thought about the boy's life. Being hokage and a clan head he unfortunately couldn't take in the boy due to political matters. Unfortunately not everyone on the shinobi council was as empathetic to the boy. The Inuzuka and Akimichi clans too had offered to house the boy, but the village elders argued that this would give the clan who housed the boy a large amount of political power with the jinchuuriki Konoha being loyal to them. 'If only they would look at him as a person and not a source of power. The boy's life would be so much better' thought the tired Hokage.

Deciding that he had earned a break Hiruzen chose to take a trip to the hospital to make sure Naruto was alright. As he walked through the streets many of the villagers, civilian and shinobi alike, waved and cheerfully greeted the man who was called 'the Professor'. A title Hiruzen took great pride in, not just because of how knowledgeable he was about the world of shinobi, but also because he had taught the greatest team Konoha had ever seen. The legendary Sannin, three of the most powerful shinobi to be produced by Konoha. Unfortunately, all his students had left the village for various reasons.

Reaching his destination the old Hokage noticed Hitomi Hyuga also approaching the hospital. Curious as to who she was visiting since he had not heard of any Hyuga recently being admitted to the hospital, Hiruzen asked who she intended to visit. "I'm here to make sure a little boy I brought here yesterday is okay," replied Hitomi. Raising his eyebrows in surprise Hiruzen questioned "Would this little boy have yellow hair and whiskers?". "Yes, you know him Hokage-sama?" asked the curious Hyuga Mother. The old Hokage chuckled, "Yes, I know him. He's an orphan who doesn't have many people to call… friendly. So I've taken it upon myself to be someone who he can trust" answered the Hokage.

Without questioning further the two entered the hospital and headed to Naruto's room. As they approached they heard shouting emerging from down the hall. "What do you mean I can't leave!", "Look kid, if it weren't for that Hyuga outside, I'd gladly let you leave but I can't so lay down and be quiet until I say you can go!". With that an irritated nurse rushed out of the room with the Hyuga guard outside thanking Kami that the yelling had stopped.

When the yelling had first been noticed by Hiruzen and Hitomi they had stopped to listen in on the conversation. Hiruzen's sweat dropped at the lack of patience that the boy who he considered to be like a grandson had. Hitomi became even more curious about the boy.

Entering the room Hiruzen was greeted by a happy "Jiji-san!" and a tight hug to his legs. Chuckling, the Hokage bent down to hug Naruto back, only realizing after the hug that he couldn't get back up without his cane which he had left by the door. Seeing the Hokage's dilemma, Hitomi offered a hand to the Hokage that was much appreciated by the tiring old man. Taking notice of the stranger who had come with the Hokage, Naruto asked "Who is she?", carefully walking back to his bed not taking his eyes off the stranger.

Taking note of the boy's caution Hitomi decided after introductions and explaining how she brought him here would be a better time to question how he ended up like he was when she found him. "My name is Hitomi Hyuga '' greeted Hitomi, realizing she still didn't know the boy's name. She inquired "what is your name?". Being surprised by how kind the woman's words were, Naruto calmed down a little and answered "My name is Naruto Uzumaki, and I'm going to be the next Hokage, believe it!". This declaration of being named Hokage brought a smile to Hiruzen seeing the little boys being so passionate about something. Hitomi also found the declaration endearing and decided to go further into the subject "so is there reason why you want to be Hokage?". Naruto answered without skipping a beat "I'm going to be Hokage because everyone in the village has to respect the Hokage because the Hokage is the strongest ninja in the village, ya know"! Hitomi smiled at this, though she decided to try and guide the boy a little on his path to being Hokage, "Do you know why the Hokage is the strongest in the village?". This confused Naruto and he shook his head wondering what Hyuga-sama meant by it. "The Hokage is the strongest because they protect the whole village, it's because they have so many people to protect that they are strong" said Hitomi. Naruto looked deep in thought as he tried to understand the wisdom of the Hyuga.

3 hours later

Seeing as it was getting late, Hitomi said she had to leave, much to Naruto's dismay. He liked her, she was so comforting and smart. In his five miserable years of life she, in 3 hours, had been the closest thing he had to a motherly figure. He was grateful for her bringing him to the hospital. In fact he was surprised when she told him she did. He had never been shown such kindness from a stranger before. As she was leaving Naruto did something that surprised the old Hokage, Naruto respectfully bowed to Hitomi and politely thanked her for her actions. Never, had he seen Naruto show such respect to someone, not even he had that respect shown to him! Hitomi smiled at Naruto's good bye and said "I enjoyed talking with you Naruto, I'm glad that you're well. I hope to see you again".

As she left the hospital with both her guards, Hitomi thought back to how Naruto told the story of how he had been running from a mob and how an explosion sent him into the tree she had found him under. She also thought about how the boy didn't seem to have any friends. Frowning, Hitomi decided she'd try to get Hinata to try and befriend him. She knew her husband would have some concerns but that wasn't a problem for her. He may be the Clan Head but was powerless when opposing her.

On her way home Hitomi and her guards cut through the park since it was a quicker and more pleasant route back to the compound. The sun was setting, usually families would start heading home for supper. Though when Hitomi looked around again, there wasn't anybody. No one but her and her guards were in the park. It was then she noticed the birds that usually sang in the trees along the path she was walking had gone quiet. Signalling her guards to take caution, Hitomi made her way through the Park. About halfway through one of her guards was attacked by a masked ninja. Getting ready for a fight, all three Hyugas went to activate their byakugan. The other guard was struck by kunai and shuriken before they were able to do so. Hitomi with her activated byakugan was able to nearly see in a full 360 around her. Unfortunately what she saw wasn't friendly.

Two more ninja attacked, one joining the first to take down her guard and the other attacking her. While Hitomi hadn't gone on a mission for nearly 7 years she was able to take out the ninja who attacked her. Hitomi didn't care for violence, but she trained hard in her chunin days and was thinking about testing for the rank of jonin, but she chose love over her ninja career and never looked back. Unfortunately, the other two ninja had finished her last guard and then went to attack her. Knowing she wouldn't be able to run, Hitomi took the Juuken fighting stance and prepared for a fight. Being only one person Hitomi was put on the defense redirecting and dodging the various kicks, punches, and kunai thrown at her. Eventually, one of her adversaries left an opening and Hitomi used this moment to hit enough chakra points to knock them unconscious. However, this attack also left herself open for the other enemy to attack.

Acting fast, the last assassin threw a kunai at Hitomi. Hitomi moved to dodge the kunai but ended up playing into her opponent's trap and felt a sharp pain in her back and heart as another assassin stepped out of hiding. Hitomi coughed up blood and felt it drizzle down her chin. Her killer pulled the kunai out of her heart and let Hitomi fall to the ground. As she fell Hitomi spun to try and see the face of her murderer. While the face was covered by a mask to hide the identity there was no mistaking the eyes she saw staring back at her. How could anyone mistake the pupiless, purple eyes of a Hyuga.
