Astolfo's Day!
"The more I see this world, the more that it fascinates me.
I mean, sure the world is beset and full of monsters, crooks, and evil people. But hey, nothing I haven't faced before. Especially during my adventures with Sieg and Jeanne in the Apocrypha war and Chaldea.
And now I learn there are variants of our world in Remnant to! Man this is neat!"
Astolfo had to say, these past few months being here in Remnant has been pretty cool. Well, er, until the whole destruction of Vale.
Not to mention Mistral being under siege by some monster killing people, Chaldea's old enemies somehow being here, and so and so forth.
'Not to mention seeing her of all people.' Never did Astolfo ever think he'd see Mash here. Or in this case, Tachie. "So then," Astolfo then spoke to the girl herself, next to him. "How are you doing Tachie?"
"...fine." The girl responded with Astolfo giving a half-smile. Yeah, she'll be a tough one to make happy. Not that Astolfo can blame her, especially what he and the other Winter-Ops had discovered down in Mantle where that creepy dude and his friend were doing to a bunch of women. According to that savvy dude Clover, apparently those two jerks were experminging on them to create some form of super-soldier.
Tachie being the final type that would be the finishing piece. Possessing five times the amount of aura the average person here would have, with an unknown artifact shield from some bygone era that amplified it further. Basically put she's a walking tank that could be hit by bullets for half-a-day and not even be tired or hurt.
Astolfo then frowned, wondering how to get Tachie to open up. He knew it wouldn't be easy though. Apparently the girl had been in some accident according to the files they found that left her kinda emotionless and had been stuck in that lab for years.
'Welp. No use trying to think. Just act.' Astolfo then smiled as he thought this and grabbed Tachie by the hand and started dragging her with him. The girl not showing much to this gesture but did seem to have a slight curiosity in what he was doing. "Alright Tachie. How about I show you around here?"
"...okay." She replied, not really caring. Oh yeah, he's definitely going to try and make her smile.
"Cool." Astolfo said as he pulled her hand and got moving. "Then first, let us explore a bit of the Atlas Academy. The place we now live in!" One of the four-er-three major Academy's on Remnant. Teaching kids all they need to know, from math, to how to kill the creatures of Grimm. The school working alongside the Military and considered the most well-funded school in Remnant.
"Yep." Astolfo nodded as he then took Tachie all over the place. "We have things here that match a regular school. A library. A cafeteria. The dorm rooms. An observatory for some reason. Not to mention," Astolfo then pushed open a door. "The changing rooms!"
Unfortunately for Astolfo, upon opening the doors to said changing room, he forgot to account for two things. The first was that the door led to the girls changing rooms, not the men's like he assumed. Second, it was already full.
"Kya!" Where many girls then screamed a bit as someone just abruptly entered...until they saw who it was.
"Oh. It's just Astolfo." A girl then says, now not minding too much her shirt was half-off.
"Thought for sure it was a guy." A girl with no skirt nods.
"Hey Astolfo, how are you doing?" One girl with only a braw just says.
"Just fine!" Astolfo says casually showing no signs of being a creepy peeping tom and acted as if he was doing the most normal thing in the world. Helped that because of his looks that many assumed he was just a girl, and considering his friendliness, nobody assumed once he was a guy. Astolfo then pulled Tachie closer to him revealing her to the girls. "Just showing the new girl around. She's...shy."
"..." Tachie just said nothing.
"Oh. Well then good luck with that I guess." A girl comments with Astolfo waving good-bye. Though just as he was about to turn and leave with Tachie, suddenly another person came in.
"Salutations!" Penny, in all her friendly glory. "Oh." She then waves high to friend Astolfo. "Hello there friend. What are you doing here?"
"Just showing Tachie around. Right Tachie?" The girl just gives a slight nod.
"Well that's fascinating! Can I guide her?" Penny then asks the paladin.
"Sure. Why not!" Astolfo didn't mind. "Tell you what, I'll join you later on during the tour."
"Fascinating!" Penny cheers as she clasps her hands on Tachie's own. "It'll be great to have a new friend!" Penny then starts to drag Tachie away for a bit, ready to guide her new friend. Though before she left, she then paused and turned to Astolfo. "Although friend Astolfo, why are you even here?"
Astolfo made a cute tilt to his head, unsure what Penny meant. So she clarified.
"I mean, you are a boy after all. Is it not improper behavior to be on the women's side?" Astolfo then turned worried the second those words left Penny's mouth, with the girls inside also hearing this. Realizing this situation, Astolfo knew what he must do.
"Um, Penny…" Astolfo tried to speak quickly. "Listen, can you not-"
Before he could continue, suddenly the next person came and gasped. "Um, Astolfo." it was Sieg. Who then innocently said, "Why are you in the girl's changing room." He says while blushing, trying not to look at the girls inside. "You're a guy after all. Isn't that inappropriate."
Astolfo then gulped.
He then flinched as he heard a cracking sound and turned around, seeing all the girls inside now looking very, very upset at him. Their eyes speaking murder and weapons drawn out despite their current state of dress with some even ready to use their semblances.
"Oh man." The paladin says while Sieg wisely moves away.
"So...how is living with your wife and sisters-in-law going?" Siegfried asks Sigurd, the two hanging out with one another. Both on break currently and simply just talking.
"It's as horrible as I imagined, yet too good to pass up." With Sigurd revealing his less than ideal life situation with his wife and sisters-in-laws. Siegfried sweat-dropping as Sigurd looks less than pleased. "Do not be mistaken," He bluntly adds. "I love living with my wife. Her curse has been reduced, and quite honestly I am enjoying myself. But...Sadly Ortlinde, Hildr, and Thrud make things tough."
Like throwing mean looks at him. Taking Brynhild time and giving him those knowing looks that while they can take baths with her and the like, he cannot because they stop him.
"Sounds rough." Siegfried says as he understands the man's pain. Knowing that those Valkyries also aimed at him since he was apparently similar to Sigurd. He then pats him on the back. "I'm with you."
"Thank you." Sigurd admires Siegfried for his friendship.
Boom!
"What was that?" Siegfried then says as the two heard an explosion...followed by a pained cry with what appeared to be angry female screams.
"Probably nothing." Sigurd says as the two continue their talk.
"Ouchi." Astolfo says as he rubs his slapped cheeks. Boy was a woman's wrath, really something else. Man he was going to take a huge hit in reputation. Like Sigurd. "Oh well." Astolfo then continued his cheery self. "You live as you learn."
He soon then caught up to Tachie and Penny, the latter finishing up what appeared to be a trip to the janitor's closet. Saying, "And here we have the janitors closet, where janitors come to grab their cleaning supplies to wipe away any dirty grime around here. Hygiene is very important."
"...I see." Tachie said, looking no different from before.
"Hey Penny, I'm back." Astolfo wobbles towards Penny as he holds his hip, still feeling that kick from earlier. "And I see you've been showing Tachie all over the Academy."
"I have." Penny nods innocently. "Why, I was just about to take her to the restrooms."
"For a potty break?"
"So she can see the toilet." Penny then said.
"...er, cool...I think." Yeah, Penny was always a bit off. A good girl still, but rather strange at times. Neh. Still a cool friend. "But moving on!" Astolfo grabbed Tachie by interlinking their elbows. "Let's continue the tour!"
"You mean the classrooms?" Penny asked excitingly.
"I was thinking of something more exciting." Astolfo giggled. "Like say-"
"-General Ironwood's office!" The three were now in Ironwood's room, where they began looking at the shelves, the carpeting. "Here, our esteemed general does his business here and what-not." Astolfo tells Tachie who spins a model globe of Remnant.
"It has a lot of stars." Penny looks at the walls which show astronomy symbols and the likes. Some of the books even feature things like space and the stars. Penny then looks at Tachie and asks, "What do you think of it?"
"...it looks okay." She replies, though didn't seem too excited.
"Maybe we need to go somewhere more exciting then." Astolfo believes, as he taps his chin. Though before he could decide, he then saw some folders on the desk and then happily sat down on the chair. Checking the folders of apparently construction being done, the student roster, materials needed for some big project, papers that needed to be signed and so on. The Rider Class Servant then putting his feet on the desk. "Now this is sweet."
He then heard an angry man talking in front of him.
"What are you doing here?" Penny saluted with Tachie doing the same for some reason while Astolfo gulped. He then looked up and saw Ironwood not looking happy at three people peeking around his office.
"Oh. Hey general." Astolfo plays it cool. "I was just showing Tachie around. Isn't that right Tachie?" The girl nodded.
"I see." The general then smiled, with Astolfo doing the same. The smile then vanished as he then said, "Cleaning duty for two weeks."
"Ahhh." Astolfo got off the chair and moved. Though as he did so, he then had another idea where to go. "Okay then, up next is-"
"-the command center!" In the heart of Atlas's cyber security network, Astolfo, Penny, and Tachie walked the workers at work monitoring everything happening. Security cameras, android routes, flight times, everything.
"It is indeed a technological sight." Penny says as she sees numerous codes being inputted.
"Yep. Like Chaldea." Astolfo grins as this place kinda reminded him a bit of when Chaldea did their own tech-thing to support the Masters. "It's awesome!" He said as he stepped backward to enjoy the view.
"Gah!" only to bump into somebody who had coffee which then spills on a woman's arm who screams as it burns. In pain, she accidentally hits a button on her section of the command controls.
The monitors then go out.
"Oh crap!"
"This is bad! Bad!"
"We're screwed!"
"Uh." Astolfo began backing away as he grabbed Tachie and Penny's hands. Seeing how everybody was panicking and would rather not be here when they started blaming someone. Primarily, him. "I think we should go somewhere else now."
"Where?" Penny asks, oblivious to the danger in this room.
"Um, maybe...Oh. I know, how about-"
"-the Schnee mansion!" Astolfo and friends were now inside the Schnee mansion, having snuck in quite easily with Tachie looking at the lavish mansion. "Here lives the Schnee family who handles stuff like Dust yet are also notorious for many reasons and don't have a sense of humor."
"Maybe because people like you break into our house!" None other than Whitley Schnee says who is with Saber (Lily). The two are eating ice cream and looking at the intruders in this house.
"Oh come on Whitley." Astolfo walks to the Master of Artoria (Lily) and pats the young heir's head. A hand knocked his hand away. "I'm just showing the newest member of the Winter-Ops around."
"Woah." Artoria (Lily) looks at Tachie, amazed how much she looked like Mash aside from a different color scheme. "That's pretty cool."
"It is." Astolfo nods while Penny looks around the mansion a bit while Tachie follows her. "And we are continuing our tour to the best places in Atlas."
"Well then you better leave, because security knows about you and is about to come." Whitley deadpans while sneaking his head away and spoke into his scroll. "Yes, they are in the main entrance. They broke in and should be arrested on sight."
Artoria (Lily) giggled.
"Okay, okay, we're leaving." Astolfo said as he realized it was time to go before he got arrested. "Seriously though," Astolfo mutters as he then puts out his hand to lean on something. "It's not like I'm causing any problems."
Astolfo then rested his hand on something nice and smooth. A vase.
Crack.
Which then fell down due to the weight with Astolfo stumbling as he saw the vase fall and break apart into tiny pieces. The young boy then seeing it and looked at Whitley and chuckled a bit.
"..." With Whitley looking far from amused.
"Um, hey." Astolfo backed away a bit. "At least it was only-" He then hit a portrait on the wall with his back, which then fell and tore apart. "...whoops." Astolfo then stuck out his tongue.
Whitley looked at Artoria (Lily), aka his Servant.
"Sword of selection, lend me your power." She then spoke softly as her sword lit up brightly.
"Pretty!" Penny says with Tachie also watching closely.
"Gah!" Astolfo just screamed as he grabbed a certain part of his with both hands. He's seen what happened to Blackbeard and Columbus. "Um, okay! We'll just be on our way now, so byeeeeee!"
Grabbing Penny and Tachie Astolfo quickly ran away as the sword shone bright and broke through a window. Just in time to as a beautiful yellow light burst out of the window following after them.
"GAHHHHHHH!" Hitting him dead on.
"And this is the infirmary." Astolfo says as he lies down on the bed where an ice pack covers his groin. "We all come here when we're hurt and in pain." He then flinches while doing his best not to move too much. Penny watches him intently, and honestly it was making him uncomfortable especially as she looked at where the ice pack was on.
"Are you going to be okay?" She then asks as she keeps watching. "You screamed very much."
"Uh, yeah. I'll be okay." He told her. "Just need to rest and all." Not to mention make a note of never going back to that mansion ever again. Though as he thought this, he then saw Tachie looking at something. A television. "You good Tachie."
She didn't respond.
"Um. Tachie." She still didn't speak. She just kept watching the television, as it spoke something about humanoid Grimm. To Astolfo, they were Ivan's dream police, the Oprichniki. Astolfo can understand why people thought of them as humanoid Grimm, made sense. Though, what was up with Tachie looking at them so strangely? With the news reporter talking about them.
"These strange new Grimm seem to be capable of using weapons, and are considered a threat. Just last week, an small group of them set fire to a town outside of Mantle."
Tachie continued to watch. Where for just a small moment, she felt she recalled something. A figure that was like these Grimm that spoke.
Flashback
"Hm. What a shame my dear Ozma." In a town that had discovered a new Dust mine that could have helped the town from it's poverty, Grimm had wrecked everything. Where only one small girl who was heavily injured crawling away like a broken machine, away from flames that came from nowhere.
Her eyes watching the Grimm tear dead bodies apart.
Devouring them.
Where she then saw a lone man with a cane moving away with a limp while laughter perpetuated the air as a woman in black watched the man walk away.
"Yes. You may as well leave. I already got what I wanted." The woman then dissipated into a cloud of smoke and vanished, where the man just kept moving while bleeding. The girl herself, seeing the man, reached her hand and tried to call out for him.
He never even looked her way.
Flashback Over
"Tachie. Tachie!" Penny waved a hand over Tachie's face who blinked in registration. The girl looking at Penny who then asked, "Are you okay?"
"I'm...fine." The girl lied as she decided to say nothing of what she recalled, of a memory that was slowly vanishing away. Yet despite that, the emotion of that day seemed to remain, along with a great anger and hate toward the man that left her. One who wielded a cane and white hair, who ignored her that day in a town of flame and Grimm.
One, who if she ever saw again, she'd kill.
Astolfo loves traveling around. So he may as well travel in the kingdom of Atlas alongside friends. To bad it may have costed him a few things. Like a hit in reputation, cleaning duty, and a blast to the crotch. Ouch!
Also, a bit of Tachie's history here. In this world, she lived a simple life as a regular person in a no-name town. The town found a Dust mine, but unknown to them it also held some artifacts from remnant's first humanity that Salem learned alongside Ozpin. The battle sadly involving the town which ended with Salem burning it, Grimm slaughtering the dead, and Tachie barely alive where taking the place of Shirou, Ozpin is the one who leaves not knowing Tachie is alive where Remnant Ernest finds and uses her as a lab rat for years.
This won't really have much impact on the story...Maybe. Until next Time.
