Chapter 1: The Name

If you look back at what have you done in your life, what would you see?

A happy family? Tales of success after overcoming the difficulties? A love tale?

Moments of Sadness? Is a tale full of despair? Or a tale full of hope and friendship?

In the end, as long as you can look back and think "I did everything I could and I had fun", I think… that would be more than enough honestly.

Me?

Oh well… I lived a normal life or more like… boring I guess, nothing major happen except some broken bones and some emergency operations in my youth and I did not do anything to make it more interesting in any way, always living tired of just about everything really, not sure what I wanted to become or do, seeing the day pass without any feeling to it, trying new stuff just to not feel anything from it and then drop it, waking up more to work and keep me busy in order to not think about how depressing everything was, no wife or kids either so yeah not much going on for me. In the end, I just survived more than lived just looking for ways to get to "tomorrow" a bit more comfortably every day, so I could go back to do nothing sooner or sleep. So if you were to ask me "Did you have fun?" and "Did you do everything you could?" my answer would be… "No" while I did have fun sometimes I can't recall anything major that stuck to me deeply, wish I could say the same about the depressing thoughts, and I most certainly did not do everything I could, always leaving things unfinished and procrastinating everything.

You are probably wondering what brought all of this up, right?

Well… I'm pretty sure I'm dead… maybe.

Now now hear me out okay? So as I said I keep living that way until my late 60's or so at this point I was retired and did not much of anything really just kind of passing the days watering some plants and watching YouTube videos, so last I recall is one of these days ending, going to bed and then, here we are. "Here" being, well… a limbo? I guess? Everything is white and I can't see any end to it nor any ceiling or floor really I'm just kind of floating here, and by just floating here I mean I'm some sort of floppy blue ball thing at the moment, don't ask how I can see the white void or myself with no eyes nor how I am floating I'm not sure either.

Awfully casual about it you say? Well, that's because I have been here for a while now and I have already passed several phases from "denial" to "acceptance" so now I have reached this state of "calmness" or whatever you want to call it. I have been just indulging myself by letting my imagination run wild like a child and just pass the time in whatever fantasy story I could think of, but after a while, I decide to just think more about my life in general. And that proved to be a problem.

As you can see not just my name and my family but every name I can recall is getting blurry I remember my job and that I had some friends but, not a single name remains. This is most certainly depressing, especially when you think I noticed this because I could not remember a Ñâmå•Šé╟½ name or what a ▀اŮæØ¢ÃاŮ╟½ was in the first place… god, this is annoying I think it was a game series? An anime maybe? Not sure anymore. I can feel how my memories become slowly but surely harder and harder to remember.

So this is it then huh… just an empty void until I fade away into nothingness while I monologue to myself to keep whatever remains of my sanity going, seems fitting.

If I had one complaint it would be, about myself more than these circumstances, all things considered, I wish I had lived my life a little better, truly had the will to see things through and not being so passive about everything, having a goal or just the determination to enjoy my life the best.

"huh…" a sound keeps repeating in the void, wait a sound? No, now that I pay attention this is no longer the empty white space but rather… a black space, for a second I thought this is just another void so I try to not get my hopes up but, there is something, here in front of me making a sound there is something.

"…" It's a screen like a menu of sorts there are only two options and it keeps making these beeping noises trying to get my attention, I don't know what this is about, but it's better than nothing I would like to press Y but I don't have a hand or-

Suddenly just as I have that thought the Y button gets marked and selected.

Suddenly after reading the new message memories start to flood back all the way from childhood to my older years, it's like being on a boat in the middle of the sea in a storm getting hit by wave after wave of memories getting more dizzy and confused until suddenly all those emotion and feelings that were about to burst disappeared leaving me calm.

I remained quiet for a second until the realization of what was about to happen hit me like a burning truck to the face.

Sigh "This is actually happening, I did die in bed after all and until now I was just my soul floating here right?"

I stop to think about it carefully. "My name is اٶ—, still no good. I was 68 years old… damn… so close to greatness." After a chuckle I keep thinking, I can't remember names of my friends or family but I can remember my life with them more clearly, also I seem to be able to remember the name of any and all the games I played in my life and many series of both cartoons and anime as well as some movies. This "Game" did this on purpose I'm sure of it maybe to let go of my past life and focus on the "Game".

"No privacy for me huh? Peachy." Focusing back on my memories I remember my job and my studies but other than that there is nothing much, to be honest. God even in my own memories I'm a background character.

I keep ignoring his… [No] her? [Yup] her comments I keep ignoring her comments and focus back on what I know, my current situation, a Gamer yes I remember that and was part of a manhwa If I recall correctly, and also some stories [Fanfictions] I read once. Yea if it's anything like that this… this… this could actually be quite funny actually, don't take me wrong it's going to be a pain sometimes but just the chance alone seems fun if it is anything like I remember, besides I was complaining about never doing anything with my life this is basically a godsend then.

Allows the user to live the life as it were a game, sleeping in bed restores HP and MP and cures all negative effects, user does not need to eat or sleep and as long as HP does not reach 0 the body will keep being able to function properly.

Gamer Mind (Passive) Level: MAX

Allows the user to remain calm at all times, allows a peaceful state of mind and prevents mental attacks from affecting the user.

Observe (Active) Level: MAX

Allows the user to see information about people or objects they observe. Can be partially or totally blocked if the Level difference is too high.

After thinking about that for a few seconds I can't help but say. "I can make others like me, manipulating their feelings without them knowing by spending enough wealth… that's really f*cked up Game"

[Well, yes I mean currently I have no other name to go by so that's pretty much a placeholder]

After thinking for a while I ask "Are you the actual game? Or some AI attached to it?"

[I'm more of an AI attached to it but I'm part of it basically is not wrong to say that the Game itself is the body arms and legs and I'm the head, though I can't do anything on my own other than trying to get Gamers to actually accept the offer and play, there are many rules to the system and it requires a Gamer to be able to properly "play" no matter what I do]

"That makes no sense, if you are the head why do you need Gamers?"

A new window opened and I can see a really neutral body floating there really pale and black color of eyes and hair other than that its characteristics are pretty standard I'm assuming this is like a template to work "Well, let's see the optiooo- holy sh*t". There are way too many options, is organized but god damn! "This is going to take a while… Also isn't the character a bit young for me?"

[Your Character will be made around the age of 16 but that can change depending on what world you end up choosing or if you are even human by then so this is mostly to give you an idea of how you could look]

"Wait so I can end up not being human then why put the effort in this form?"

[It's entirely up to you if you are a human or not, but if you chose something else the human characteristics will "translate" to whatever new race you end up, so if your human form is handsome then by the standards of that race so will you, also it gives you a default human form to go back if you gain Shapeshifting or something like that]

I spend a long time doing this it was my new body after all but at the same time, I could not help but think, the skills alone are pretty broken but the system itself so far hasn't been any better the inventory seem to have infinite store capacity, like that just from the get-go, then the shop I remember a few things I could buy with the reward money alone that are pretty busted already not OP but, for a level 1 noob like me? Busted… This game seems way too easy, no calm yourself me we haven't even started yet maybe is just not as bad as it seems you would need to practice skills, and maybe doing that it's the only way to actually level up that would explain why they allow having the Gamer's Body and ID creation from the start. With that mentality, I continue until I finish some details on my new Character.

The body of the young man stands in front of me, he is 1,69 m tall (5 feet 5 inches) he has long white messy and fluffy hair that reaches until the end of his back. His physique is rather bland nothing to call attention to, no muscles but no fat either, his face looks handsome though more aiming for a childish look it has a smile on his face no baby fat in his cheeks but it looks like it's a year younger than he really is, his nose is of normal size relate to the rest of his face, has a round chin and a jaw that fits going around until arriving at the chin. His eyes are amber color almost golden, and there are a few strands of hair covering his forehead. Is currently wearing a white short-sleeved shirt and black jeans and a pair of sneakers.

"…F*ck you are right, not that it's anything bad right?"

[Well, no per se but, why have you make it so you can't grow a beard or mustache?]

"I hated shaving but I didn't like having a beard either when I was alive"

Suddenly my thoughts were put to a halt everything was black again I was nervous and wasn't sure what was going on but then, I opened my eyes.

And all the euphoria of having a body again and feeling young and well… alive banished just like that before I could even voice it, so I could focus on the task at hand.

I open and close my hand in front of my face "So this is me now… is this my voice? Sounds a tad neutral". I touch my face with my hand caressing my cheek "soft".

"Hahahaha! Good one" I laugh for a while at the comment before calming myself. "Ah… so what now?"

"…Wait so just, grind like in an MMO and gain skills from nowhere I can't train and gain skills?"

[New skills and raising the skills level can be achieved through training but your stats are set by the system, there are items such as stat crystals that can increase your stats but other than that you would need to pick a class that increases those particular stats]

"Hold on so the class only grants stats in some stat, not in all of them?"

[Yes, Classes only grant stat growth to 2 or 3 stats at most]

"…So, I got Gamer's Body, and ID dungeon when I get out of here, right? There is literally no reason for me to not just enter a dungeon and keep killing until I'm unstoppable right?"

"Look, Kay, I like you already, you got a great humor sense and had being nothing but helpful [I sense a "but" coming] but, [There it is] this Game you want me to Play… is kind of… way to easy and broken? Don't take me wrong, is great and all I had to be either an idiot or a blockhead to die with these settings, but that's the thing If you let me out doesn't matter the world I will just farm in the ID until I'm broken and don't take a step out ever until then, and that would be boring."

"When I realized the circumstances I was in I became happy beyond belief, I could not only live again but live a life that I could be happy with, that alone meant more than anything to me, I don't want to stay content anymore, I don't want to leave for later something I want to do everything I can or try at least."

It took a while but we finish the modifications to the class system, what I did was making it so EXP can be gain by performing actions such as training skills and magic of the class I currently have, and regular workout and practice with a sword or martial arts for example. I can still gain EXP by defeating enemies but now there's also a mechanic in which the more difficult is the fight and the harder is to achieve victory the more EXP you gain, proportionally the easier it is the less EXP you get.

Also the Leveling system in general works like this:

I got a Level for me as a character which represents the total levels of all my classes and jobs, then we have the Class, basically you get the first one for free and 2 skills from it but any other skill of the class you would need to train and practice to get it, meaning I could potentially not get all the skills from a class I have maxed out, but no worries even if I have maxed out the Class I can still get skills from it, any other Class will require a certain stats from you and already have a skill related to it in order to be able to pick it, you still get status growth per level but it does not prevent you from working out and gaining stats or studying magic and leveling up if it's a mage related class for example.

Jobs are basically a subclass, apparently, the system had them like regular classes that granted production skills and whatnot, but I figured it would be more helpful to have them have a lower level cap and being able to have them from the beginning as long as you fulfill the requirements, they don't grant skills however only a passive growth in skills related to the job and in 1 or 2 stat per level depending on the job.

Once my Class or Job reaches its level cap I can pick another one, and I get a trait as a reward for maxing it.

The skills are now organized in Ranks from D to EX and have levels from 1 to 10 they level up with use and then either they normally rank up, or I have to fulfill a quest or meet special requirements for them to rank up, also when I gain a level in a class or job any skill I had related to it gains a bit of EXP too, how much? It depends on the class but normally about 5%, also the classes and jobs gain EXP more easily the more Skills you have related to them and the higher Rank they are.

The stats have not changed much except 2 things, MP now is its own thing meaning that while Intelligence and Wisdom help with magic and spells MP is increased on its own by, you guessed training and class levels, Same with SP actually since CON was a stat just to represent SP so it makes sense to be its own thing, was tempted to do the same with HP and Endurance but in the end, I decide to let it be and consider Endurance more of a "Defense", also Charisma is gone, just like that, High Charisma is more BS than plotarmor. Also, I deleted a feature that would have given me BS powers every time a stat reached a certain number, what kind of BS is that?.

"Yeah, about that" I turn to look at the skills Gamer's Body and Mind and Observe and proceed to adjust them, by just thinking of the changes I wanted and watching as Kay and the system integrated them.

[Well… I kind of get it but what happens if you buy something from the Shop or get an item from a Quest then? It could be bounded to the system but that would kind of defeat the purpose of having them separated right?]

"Mmm… can you make it so quest items are story related so they could be given to me from the people of the world I'm currently in? Also if the rewards are stats crystals or maybe a skill orb or a free level up for a skill or class those could be left as being part of the status screen until I choose to use them. As for the Shop, I will explain in a moment"

[Mmm… that would work, I take that the Quest will be upgraded like that then?]

"You don't have to limit my rewards to only stat-boosting and free level-ups but yeah only change that. We can skip to Shop then, this one is actually easy just make so I can only buy and sell stuff before entering a new world and limit what I can buy to what I have sold once already or obtain with quests or at least items with the same rarity or lower"

[You sure about that one? I mean I get it, if you buy the items before entering a world you can justify having them while viewing your world options but still…]

"World options?"

[Basically, you can use Points to modify somewhat the world you are going before entering]

"Sounds like I would spend most of my points on that so I kind of like it already, yes this is fine, just make it so I can buy anything from the shop only for this first time when we select the world and that would be all. Now then we can move to the last option, Social"

"Thank you, Kay, now for Social mmm, make it so I know when I'm gaining affection but not by how much, delete the heart crystals, and delete the 50 affection rewards only leave the 100 ones, is either all or nothing we reward a full conquest or none of it" I said the last bit with determination in my voice.

I think there is nothing much to go by, pick a Class and Job, Pick up a World, Buy a few things right before entry and then I'm all set yup. "Okay, I believe we are all set to see the first of many worlds we will see in our little multiverse"

[Our Omniverse is no small by any means]

A bit curious I can't help but point something Kay has been saying all this time "You have been calling it Omniverse all this time is there any actual difference?"

[In this particular system The Omniverse refers to the "place" where all the Universes exist floating in an endless void, a Multiverse would be all the "parallel" versions of the same universe]

I think I get it… wait "Then can there be a parallel Omniverse?"

[No, only one per Gamer]

"I see, and are there any beings that can travel between Universes?"

[There are a few, but most only reach the realm of traveling to a parallel or reaching another world in the same universe that they confuse with a different universe, that's mostly what's going on with Isekais by the way]

This makes me think for a while, this could be something interesting, I wonder… "Kay you said we had World options right? Are there any Omniverse options by any chance? You said that the omniverse was reversed just before so could we edit it?"

[No, there… It's… … … possible…apparently They allowed it, after finishing your character before the World Options but doing so could take a considerable amount of time are you sure you want to do this?]

I smiled "For as long as I'm here I can't die right? That means that there is no time limit to me being here right?"

"Alright! Let's go then Kay" I practically jumped to the screen choosing a Class and Job and setting a few stats quickly

"I can imagine, but with the setting, we have now Kay this is the best to start and getting ready for later and unlocking quite a few classes while maxing it, but…weird I can't seem to be able to continue I filled everything right?" "Other than whatever it could mean in Japanese then nope, I wanted a name easy to remember" I shrug, maybe I was overacting early but, I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

Hey people, the first story ever still trying to figure out how everything works, sorry for the slow ch1 I wanted to make quite a few things, and well before I noticed this was way longer than I originally imagined.

So if you guys wanna comment on my work please go ahead I have no idea of how long I will make this story but I have quite a few ideas for the story already, I'm still uncertain of how much of the original plot I will change but I'll try to write something I can be happy with. English is not my first language and I'm still learning so please do tell me anything weird I write so I can learn.
