Chapter 30
"Bye! Have a beautiful time!" Evanora and Anna laughed as they watched the 2 Magic Knights leave the Diamond Kingdom, albeit grumbling in disbelief that Evanora forced them to start dating in order for her to allow them to leave so they could tell Julius and Acier what Evanora told them.
"I still can't believe you forced Yami and Charlotte to start dating in order to allow them to leave." Anna snickered.
"Hey, if I didn't do it, then Queen Acier would have." Evanora chuckled.
"Too true!" Anna laughed. As the 2 friends chatted, the double doors to the throne room suddenly burst open; thus surprising both Evanora and Anna.
"Your Majesty!" The Diamond Soldier burst out. "We're under attack!" Evanora gave the soldier an incredulous look before groaning.
"Unbelievable…" Evanora grunted. "Who is it? The last attack wasn't really an attack. So is this a false alarm or a real attack? Because if it's a real attack, then send out Andreas and Tantalus to deal with the threat immediately!" The Diamond Soldier gulped before nodding and running out of the throne room. After the soldier left, Evanora put a hand to her forehead out of exasperation.
"Should I go out there?" Anna asked. Evanora was about to answer, then felt a cold sensation coming from outside. As a result, her eyes widened.
"This mana…!" Evanora gaped before standing up. "I have to go and see for myself what's going on!" She paused, then added. "Or rather, I need to check on the former Witch Queen and Morris. Need to make sure they're still locked up." Anna placed a hand on her shoulder.
"No." Anna told her friend. "I'll do that. You stay here." Once again, before Evanora could retort, Anna walked out of the throne room.
"Hmm… So this is the Diamond Kingdom, huh?" Zenon wondered aloud as he arrived at the Diamond Kingdom's border; thus into the kingdom soon thereafter. "Mother will have to update the world map when I get back. This place is far larger than even I remember."
"Impact Magic: Heavy Fist Frenzy!"
"Giant Magic: Full Size! Plus Giant Magic: Titan Fist Barrage!" Zenon looked up as he took notice of 2 Diamond Kingdom Shining Generals coming straight at him, along with their spells. He also took notice of the giant Shining General. He knew they were Shining Generals based on the clothes they were wearing, in addition to the magic stones embedded in their bodies.
"That's a Spade Kingdom Mage, Andreas!"
"I know, Tantalus!" Andreas remarked. "It's why Queen Evanora sent us out here! Now, let's take care of him real quick!"
"Yeah!" The chubby Shining General, Tantalus, agreed. "The faster we do, the more time I'll have to eat at the "All you can eat" Buffet!" Andreas groaned loudly at that.
"Enough of your food antics! Focus on the fight at-!" Andreas snapped at Tantalus, but to the 2's shock, there spells didn't even reach Zenon. Instead, they shattered to pieces.
"Whaaaaa….?!"
"Bone Magic: Denial Fang." Zenon spoke nonchalantly, as well as coldly. "You 2 should just give up while you're ahead. You could never defeat me. Even if you called for backup soldiers to help you, none of them would survive." Zenon's lips curled into a dark smile. "It's a simple fact. Survival of the fittest. The strong live while the weak die. Isn't that what the Diamond Kingdom is all about?" Andreas and Tantalus stared at Zenon in disbelief before the 2 clenched their hands into fists. The 2 soon thereafter began to clench their teeth out of frustration; knowing that Zenon was right. However…
"Yeah, you're right." Andreas admitted. "But! That doesn't mean that we'll just let you do whatever you want in our land! Right, Tantalus?" Tantalus snapped out of his initial shock, glanced at Andreas and nodded, then turned back to face Zenon.
"Yeah!" Tantalus replied. Zenon closed his eyes, then reopened them.
"...I see." Zenon mused before his dark smile returned. "Then prepare for the worst pain of your life. Assuming you even survive, of course." Several bones rose out of the ground around Zenon, as well as from his body. "Bone Magic: Eternal Fangs."
"Impact Magic: Shockwave Fist!" Andreas declared as his fists got imbued with mana that released sparks before he began to launch several electrifying punches towards Zenon.
"Let me protect you, Andreas!" Tantalus called to his fellow Shining General. "Giant Magic: Body Protection!" Tantalus grew in size a bit more before he was enlarged enough to give Andreas a protective wall of his skin. As disgusting as it is, Andreas didn't mind it. If it meant he and Tantalus could survive this guy's attacks. Zenon just stared as his Eternal Fangs spell hit Tantalus's body and shattered upon impact.
"...Oh?" Zenon wondered aloud. "It seems despite my enhanced Bone Magic through being in a contract with 1 of the 3 rulers of the Underworld, I cannot break through that body armor." His lips formed a dark smile. "Interesting… Then I guess I better use some of my Devil Power to ensure that I can." Zenon's blue eyes widened as his left eye's color changed from blue to red, 2 sharp horns sprouted from his head, one black and the other white. In addition, 2 long wings sprouted out of his back. The mana in the area began to freeze over (figuratively speaking). Both Andreas and Tantalus stopped in place out of utter shock. "
"Wh-What the hell?!" Andreas finally spoke out, a shocked expression on his face.
"Devil Power: 55%." Zenon spoke coolly. Tantalus snapped out of it as Zenon's bones from his previous 2 spells were still flying around, as well as being attached to Zenon.
"I won't let up! And neither should you, Andreas!" Tantalus called to his comrade. "Food Magic: Feast of the Gods!" He opened up his mouth and began to devour the spells Eternal Fangs and Denial Fang. Zenon showed a bit of surprise before regaining his composure.
"...I see…" Zenon mused. "So that's how you can endlessly fight, hmm? I'm surprised I haven't seen you out on the battlefield. Least from the reports I've read."
"That's because Tantalus is lazy." Andreas retorted, slightly groaning at his own sentence, while Tantalus just raised an eyebrow at Andreas.
"Hey." Tantalus pouted as he crossed his arms.
"I'm not wrong, Tantalus." Andreas sighed.
"...You 2 are strong, I won't deny you that." Zenon told the 2 Shining Generals. Zenon then raised his hand as several bone swords appeared in front and around him. "But it's just that I am far superior to you 2 in terms of strength. Bone Creation Magic: Sword Dragon Fang Shower." Several sharp bone swords rained down on Tantalus and Andreas from above and all around them.
I have to destroy these! Andreas thought. But before he could, he felt the bone swords impale him; thus he coughed up blood before crumpling to the ground.
"Andreas!" Tantalus cried out.
"...Fascinating…" Zenon mused. "He's alive. Good. Wouldn't want to strip Diamond's hope too quickly." He then turned his attention to Tantalus. "You may be bigger, but that doesn't make you smarter." Zenon swiped his right hand from left to right as more Bone Creation Magic: Sword Dragon Fang Shower rained down. "I'm done with you 2." Zenon watched with a cold expression as Tantalus's Giant Magic: Full Size spell began to deflate him. Eventually, a loud popping sound was heard, signifying the end of Tantalus's Full Size and he crumpled to the ground next to Andreas. Zenon stared down at the 2 Shining Generals one last time before retracting his Bone Magic that's attached to arms and began to walk towards the Diamond Kingdom Castle.
Inside the castle's throne room, Evanora had witnessed Andreas and Tantalus's defeat at Zenon's hands.
"How… How is that guy so strong…?!" Evanora thought in utter shock, muttering to herself. "It must be from that Devil Power he has…..!" She stood up from the throne and strided towards the doors to leave the throne room. "I hope if Anna comes across this guy, that she's able to hold her own. Otherwise…" She frowned deeply as she trailed off, picking up the pace and going down the halls. She didn't even reach the end of the hall before stopping dead in her tracks, picking up Zenon's cold mana feeling within the castle. Evanora clenched her teeth.
"Shit….! He's already in the castle….!" Evanora hissed before striding again. "I have to go faster….!"
Zenon entered the Diamond Kingdom Castle without too much trouble from the Diamond Kingdom Mages. Even after he already defeated 2 Shining Generals: Andreas and Tantalus. Some tried to fight him to get him to stop, but most, if not all of them, ended up dead at the hands of his Bone Magic.
"So laughably weak…" Zenon muttered to himself as he walked throughout the castle halls, hands in his pockets. "And this kingdom is supposed to have a powerful military force…. Pathetic." He soon came to a stop in the corridor and raised his right hand up to his ear, then lowered it again and back to his pocket. His lips curved into a dark smile.
"Hmm? Oh. I see. So this is where the dungeon is…" Zenon spoke to himself as he made a body gesture towards the wall in front of him. "Bone Magic: Bone Tornado." A mini tornado of bones appeared in front of Zenon. He raised his hand and did a hand gesture; thus the bone tornado went forward and shredded the wall in front of him. Once his Bone Magic spell dissipated at another hand motion, Zenon walked through the wall and leapt down to the lower floor of the castle.
"Hmm… It seems I cut through more walls than I initially thought I would." Zenon mused to himself, immediately recognizing this section of the Diamond Kingdom Castle to be the dungeons. Zenon looked around for a bit before taking notice of 2 people inside 2 cells. One of them he recognized as Morris. As for the other one...Zenon couldn't tell exactly who it was, but knew it was a witch based on the hat she wore on her head. He also took notice of her green and black dress. In the end, he ultimately ignored her and turned his attention to the blonde man in the cell.
"Morris." Zenon spoke the man's name. Said man looked up at Zenon.
"Who the hell are you?" Morris asked. Zenon stared at Morris for a solid 30 or so seconds before replying.
"My name is Zenon Zogratis." Zenon introduced himself. "I was sent here by the Queen of the Spade Kingdom to retrieve you. We believe you would serve a higher purpose in this world if you were allied with us." The blind blonde man stood up from his cell's cot and approached the bar door of his cell. His lips formed a dark smile.
"Consider it a done deal!" Morris grinned wickedly. "But first, get me out of here! Please!"
"...Bone Magic: Bone Tornado." Zenon spoke nonchalantly. Though the cell bars were made of metal, Zenon's Bone Tornado spell managed to slice right through them with ease. Zenon then cast Bone Magic: Eternal Fangs on the second prison cell in combination with Bone Tornado to impale the witch, but not kill her. Morris rubbed his wrists after Zenon's Bone Magic got him free from the binds on his wrists, he then turned to face the now captured witch.
"Oh that? That's the former Witch Queen, Theodora Enoteca." Morris told Zenon before he shrugged. "Not sure why you want to take a perfectionist with you, but alright.. I won't stop you or anything."
"The Spade Queen believes that she'll be useful. Somehow." Zenon retorted before turning on his heel and began to walk down the corridor. "Come. Let us get out of here."
"Hold it right there!"
"Oh?" Zenon questioned as he looked up to see 2 men at the exit to the dungeon. One of the 2 men was a hairy man with medium-length black hair. He also sports a mustache and a goatee, which only covers his chin, as well as wearing a headpiece on his forehead, which has three diamond-shaped ornaments, positioned to the right side of his forehead. The first man's attire consists of a tunic and trousers. His light-colored tunic is loose and has a large v-shaped collar that showcases his chest. On top of his tunic, he wears a three-way black belt, which is supported by his right shoulder. His trousers are light-colored and two black fabrics protrude from the waist to his tights with diamond-shaped ornaments at the end. Furthermore, he also wears a pair of black boots with furry collars. Lastly, he wears a coat over his attire. The coat is divided into two colors where it has light-colored fabric for his torso and sleeves while the cuffs and the rest of the coat are dark-colored. Both black lapels have three diamond-shaped ornaments on them.
The 2nd male is a young man with medium-length, blond hair and pale skin. He has black scleras and red irises but no visible pupils. He has three small, red mage stones in a horizontal line in the middle of his forehead and a larger red stone on his sternum. As a child, his eyes appear normal and he wears a plain white shirt and pants. Morris's facial expression remains as sadistic as it was before.
"Ladros! Lotus!" The blonde man greets the 2. The 2 men, Ladros and Lotus, narrow their eyes at Morris.
"How did you escape your cell?" Lotus demanded.
"...That was because of me." Zenon replied coolly. "So if you'll excuse us, we really need to be going." Ladros and Lotus on the other hand had other ideas as they got out their grimoires, preparing to fight. At that, Morris sneered while Zenon gave the 2 a deadpanned expression.
"Hahahaha! Are you 2 stupid or somethng?!" Morris sneered. "Unless you want to end up like Andreas and Tantalus outside, I suggest you back down now! Besides…" He spread his arms out, a dark smile on his face. "it's not like you 2 could actually beat me or Zenon here!"
"...Wh-What…..?!" Ladros gaped, letting what Morris said sink in. Like Ladros, Lotus was equally shocked. There shocked expressions not only made Morris's grin widen, but it also gave Zenon the chance to cast Bone Magic: Eternal Fangs. Unfortunately, Ladros and Lotus snapped out of there shock at the last second and evaded the attack, but the attack did go through the ceiling and into the floor above them. Zenon looked up and leapt through it. Morris soon followed.
"...Not the exact way I came in, but it'll do." Zenon mused.
"After them!" Ladros shouted as he leapt up through the large hole. Lotus followed soon after as he leapt through the hole.
"I'm getting too old for this…" Lotus sighed as he ran with Ladros to try and catch Morris and Zenon. The 2 soon caught up to Morris and Zenon, which to there surprise, Zenon and Morris looked like they were waiting for Ladros and Lotus to catch up.
"Well, isn't that a shame!" Morris grinned, holding a bone sword Zenon gave him. "If only you hadn't gone and married that witch, you'd be helping me, Lotus."
"As if he would!" Ladros scoffed. "He might have helped you if Evanora didn't come here 20 or so years ago, but she did. And because of her, she not only freed us from the gemstones you implanted in us, but also made us stronger. Something you could never accomplish! Experiments or not!"
"Ladros…" Lotus whispered. Zenon just stared blankly at Ladros after his explanation. After a good minute, Zenon spoke up.
"...Pitiful." Zenon retorted coldly. "Absolutely pitiful. Especially for someone like you who has no magic attribute to speak of."
"He was quite the interesting child to experiment on!" Morris admitted before grinning wickedly. "But like all the other children of Diamond I've experimented on, they all served there purposes one way or another." He turned to face Lotus again, his grin remaining on his face. "Just like you, Lotus."
"Tch…!" Lotus grunted.
"My mission was to free Morris and whoever was trapped here." Zenon retorted. "I've already completed that. So let's go, Morris." Morris on the other hand had other ideas.
"But if we leave now, then they'll want to fight back against you." Morris told Zenon. "I think it's best we kill these 2. Who knows! It might drain out Evanora's hope! Heh heh heh!"
"...Fine. But only these 2." Zenon agreed as the pages in grimoire began to turn before stopping. "I'll take the red-eyed one. You handle Lotus." Morris nodded in agreement and turned his attention back to Lotus."
"Very well Zenon!" Morris grinned. "Oh, and the red-eyed one is Ladros."
"Humph." Zenon grunted. "I don't care what he's named. If he's going to get in my way, I'll kill him."
"My thoughts exactly!" Morris grinned as he leapt at Lotus, borrowed bone sword in hand. Zenon turned his attention back to Ladros
"Bone Creation Magic: Hell Bone Dragon." Zenon remarked coolly as a dragon made of bones rose out of the ground and charged at Ladros, wanting to bite him. Ladros tried to evade, but due to the now small space that was the corridor, no thanks to the destruction it experienced from Zenon's Bone Magic, Ladros couldn't do much.
"Lotus! Help me!" Ladros called out to the older man.
"He can't save you." Zenon spoke coldly as he heard Morris stab Lotus in the chest area; thus causing the older man to cough up blood as Morris pulled the bone sword out of Lotus and tossed it to Zenon, who caught it with his right hand. "Your supposed AE Magic-Absorption and Emission Magic, is useless against me." The bone dragon clawed Ladros, causing him to stagger back, then he got launched forward after the bone dragon used its tail to send him forward and into the bone sword in Zenon's hand, which impaled him. Like Lotus, Ladros coughed up blood before Zenon removed the bone sword from Ladros's body. Both Ladros and Lotus crumpled to the ground after getting fatally wounded.
"Finally got rid of them!" Morris grinned maliciously. "Now let's go!" Zenon turned to face Morris and nodded. Just as he was about to make a Spatial Magic portal, he and Morris heard footsteps. Morris was the first to turn around to face whoever found them. Zenon turned around soon thereafter.
"Oh?" Zenon wondered aloud, seeing 2 women at the corridor's threshold. One of the women had black hair and wore the Shining General uniform, as well as having red eyes. While the other had brown hair, wearing a green and purple dress (to represent her Magic attribute), as well as wearing a crown to represent that she is the ruler of the Diamond Kingdom. Morris was the first to break the utter silence between the 4.
"Ah Evanora! Anna!" Morris greeted the 2 women.
"...So that's the new Diamond Kingdom ruler." Zenon mused. "A Queen, to be accurate."
"Morris! And you're!" Anna gasped.
"Yes! I'm free from that cell I was locked into for life!" Morris replied. "All thanks to Zenon here!"
"Zenon? You mean-!"
"Lotus!" Anna quickly turned and gasped, horrified as Evanora ran to where Lotus and Ladros were.
"...Don't waste your breath getting them to the infirmary." Zenon told Anna and Evanora. "They'll be dead soon."
"Ugh…!" Lotus grunted, looking up at Evanora and Anna. "Evanora…...Anna….…!"
"You did this!" Anna snapped, getting her grimoire.
"Lotus…!" Evanora teared, holding her husband up.
"...To be more accurate, me and Morris." Zenon replied coldly. "They tried to stop us from leaving. So naturally, me and Morris killed them."
"You won't get away from here!" Anna snapped, about to launch her spell.
"...A waste of time." Zenon stated blankly. "Spatial Magic: Spatial Mana Domination." A large rectangular cube of pure mana surrounded the area. Though invisible, its effects were apparent. Anna's Breaker Magic spell petered out before it could be fully cast. "As long as we're in this space, you 2 are powerless." Ladros tried to raise his head up so he could look at Evanora.
"That guy… He's….too strong….." Ladros whispered. "I…..I sensed Andreas and Tantalus losing to him not too long ago…..."
"Even them…?!" Anna gaped in shock.
"Ladros don't speak. You need..." Evanora began with a choke.
"It's….too late...for us…." Lotus coughed up blood as he spoke. "E-Evanora… Make sure…..that they….don't get….our daughters…"
"Oh ho!" Morris grinned. "You 2 have daughters? Excellent! More test subjects for my experiments! And this time, I won't be locked up for it!" Zenon let his 2 devil horns and bat-like wings disappear, but kept Spatial Magic: Spatial Mana Domination active.
"...As much fun as it would be to find these daughters, I have no interest in such things." Zenon remarked. "My mission was clear. Free Morris and anyone else that you kept locked up behind a cell. I achieved that. So I'll be going now." Zenon turned around and raised his right hand up to form a dark blue spatial portal. While he was doing that, Lotus and Ladros have now gone limp in Anna and Evanora's hands.
"Lotus…! Lotus!" Evanora cried, before glaring furiously at Morris and Zenon. "Damn you! Damn you both!"
"Hahaha!" Morris laughed. "Even if that Spatial Mana Domination Spell of Zenon's here wasn't in place, you 2 couldn't do jack shit to either of us!"
"..." Zenon turned around to face Anna and Evanora. "It hurts, doesn't it? Losing those you care about." His normally nonchalant expression warped into a dark smile. "Well if you're that angry at those 2 weaklings deaths, then give me your best shot. You each get 1 free hit. But I doubt you'll be able to do anything thanks to Spatial Mana Domination being active." Evanora clenched her hands into fists, tears trickling down her cheeks as she stood up, glaring daggers at Morris and Zenon.
"Then how's this?!" Evanora snarled as she leapt at Zenon, swinging her sword staff. "I don't need my magic to hurt you!" Zenon just stared blankly at Evanora and her feeble attempt to hurt him.
"...Bone Creation Magic: Bone Phalanx." Zenon spoke. A bone dome with protruding spikes in all directions appeared in front of him. So when Evanora slashed at him with her sword staff, she slashed the bone dome instead of Zenon. Luckily for her, her sword staff is sturdy. So instead of it breaking, it simply flew out of her hand due to the force of her slash and rebound from hitting Zenon's bone dome.
"What the?!" Anna gaped.
Tch…! So I can't even use my longswrod to strike at him because of that stupid bone dome shielding him!
"...That's your best shot?" Zenon asked coldly. "Pathetic. And here I thought you were the Queen of the Diamond Kingdom." Before continuing, his lips formed a dark smile. "I won't kill you, but I'll certainly have you drown in despair. You failed to save your husband, and one of your Shining Generals. You failed to realize what was going on until after I defeated 2 other Shining Generals." His dark smile widens. "And worst of all...you'll fail to save those in the Diamond Kingdom. And you want to know why?" Zenon waved his right hand as several bones rose out of the ground and impaled Evanora to the wall. She coughed up blood, yet kept her defiant glare aimed at Zenon. Her clothes torn, blood trickled out of her other wounds, in addition to her mouth. Zenon allowed the words he told Evanora to sink before speaking again. Eventually, Evanora spoke.
"Why….?!" Evanora snarled.
"Evanora….!" Anna breathed. Zenon couldn't help but laugh.
"Because… You. Are. Weak." Zenon replied coldly. "You only barely defeated your Mother. What makes you think you can defeat me? Or any of my family, for that matter? In fact, if I remember right, Diamond's motto is this: The strong live, while the weak die. Isn't that right, Queen Evanora?" Evanora shook with rage, trying to free herself from Zenon's Bone Magic: Eternal Fangs spell.
"ZENON!" Evanora roared angrily. "MORRIS!" But just as she freed herself, she crumpled to the ground facefirst. Weakened from blood loss, she couldn't fight back against Zenon and Morris.
"Evanora!" Anna called to her friend as she ran to her.
"Ha! It's over!" Morris mocked before turning to face Zenon. "Zenon, let's leave now." Zenon glanced at Morris and nodded.
"Right." He replied, raising his right hand up to reform the dark blue spatial portal he aimed to form before. "Spatial Magic: Gate of the Under-"
"Shadow Magic: Shadow Corridor." Out of the shadows of the floor, 2 men rose. One of them was a young man with fair skin and a soft facial structure. He has long, black hair that is pulled up into a high ponytail, and light blue eyes. He wears a plain cord necklace, from which hang four devil-connected relics. In addition, wearing a dark-colored jacket with four buttons on the high collar. He has four blue belts around his waist and another pair of belts below with his grimoire pouch hanging off the left. His grimoire pouch has the Black Bull's insignia. His dark-colored pants are tucked into light-colored boots, which have sets of four belts. The other was a taller and older muscular man with greenish-blue eyes and long white hair that was held together in a ponytail style and wore a tight light blue shirt with gray suspenders worn under his shirt, white baggy trousers, dark grey boots with black tips, and white gloves.
"As much as I hate to be here, I'm glad we followed you here, Zenon." The first man spoke, a smirk on his lips. Zenon sighed and turned around to face the 2 newcomers.
"...I see… The Clover Kingdom spy and a former Spade Kingdom General. Nacht Faust and Tyson Hammer." Zenon remarked.
"That's right." Nacht replied. "And we're going to put you down once and for all, Zenon Zogratis." Zenon just stared at Nacht and Tyson. Tyson clenched his hands into fists as he stared Zenon down.
"For the sake of Royal House Grinberryall, and for the sake of Prince Yuno, I will defeat you, Zenon!" Tyson vowed. "Nacht, let's go!"
"Those 2…!" Anna whispered in surprise. Nacht glanced at Tyson and nodded before returning his attention back to Morris and Zenon.
"But of course." Nacht remarked, he and Tyson got their grimoires ready to fight. Morris took the bone impaled Witch Queen from Zenon and went through the dark blue spatial portal, which soon disappeared. After that, Zenon turned his attention back to Nacht and Tyson.
"Now that Morris and the Witch Queen are gone, I can focus all of my efforts and defeating you 2." Zenon remarked, readying himself and his magic. "I'll at least let you try to get in a few hits on me. But just like with that failure of a Queen, I highly doubt you 2 will be able to defeat me."
"Don't count on it!" Tyson retorted.
0713MM: And here is Chapter 30! Unfortunately for those wanting to see this 2 vs 1 fight of Nacht Faust and Tyson Hammer vs Zenon Zogratis, you'll have to wait a chapter or 2 before I show it in a potential flashback, or perhaps even as it's own chapter. Whichever comes to my mind first.
