Rebekah didn't know what she was doing in that church with a priest giving her confession to something she did not believe in. But maybe it was just the idea of hearing her thoughts out loud that gave her the right motivation to come here and did what she was going to do. Fighting for her own happiness.
" I should have never come back here. This is the town where I fell in love and where love failed us." Rebekah said from the opposite side of the window as she looked through it to the confused priest who had been very unwilling to hear what she had come to confess. " I assume you know who I am talking about."
" You should know that Marcel and I are not on the best of terms right now." The priest replied.
" But you are an active priest, are you not? Ready and able to hear my confession."
" Usually the word willing falls somewhere in that sentence. Are you even Catholic?" he asked skeptically.
" I have been on this earth for a thousand years and I can't say for certain that I believe in anything like God but I need absolution from someone, anyone. So will you hear my confession or not?" Rebekah asked at the end determinedly. The priest motioned for her to continue.
" Bless me father, for I have sinned. I am a liar and a betrayer. I have conspired against my own blood and I doubt even your God could save me."
Elijah took deep breaths in and out to try to control himself, be in control of himself even when the fever was getting more and more unbearable.
"Here drink this," Elena said as she got closer to Elijah and helped him up. He put his fingers to the cup touching hers in the process although neither of them removed theirs.
" What is it?" Elijah asked feeling the fever go down a little,
" Just something that I made with my magic powers. I saw Bonnie make it once when Damon was bitten. It was easy to make. " Elena replied helping him drink the whole stuff.
" It should keep the discomfort down, now we just have to do something for the fever." she continued.
" You don't have to do anything. I will be fine." Elijah said, something completely opposite to his condition. But Elena dismissed it away with a wave of her hand.
" It's okay, it's the least I could do for you. I just need to find some cloth, it doesn't help that we decided to shack up in the middle of a swamp either. " Elena said looking around and opening the gate as she watched her surroundings. It was not a bad place if one looked at the surroundings. The bayou was a beautiful place surrounded by nature if one did not mind the bugs. This was already proven when Deigo had taken her out here. Ah! Deigo, the mention of his name brought Elena a familiar feeling of guilt. She was feeling guilty about using him. He would undoubtedly know about her now. He must be feeling hurt. But for the sake of her sanity and herself, Elena pushed the feeling of guilt aside. It was easier than it should have been for the guilt was very little compared to all that she already had. Just, a ripple in the wide ocean. Elena was brought out of her review by the sound of Elijah coughing as she hastened to make her way back there.
"Are you okay?" she asked him concerned as Elijah managed to bring himself back under control.
" I am fine. Please just return to your reading. Your tea helped a lot." he replied. Elena however was not convinced, she had seen firsthand what werewolf bites did to vampires. Elijah was taking it better than she had seen the previous two vampires take it. It could be said that Elijah was no normal vampire but so was Klaus, not a normal werewolf. Maybe however changing the topic could help ease his suffering.
" Well, I went through the whole thing." Elena began, sitting down next to him," It's just a regular bible with an entry in the family tree which I am eight percent sure is me. It doesn't matter now at least. I will have plenty of time to do some more research."
" Elena please, this bite will make me unstable..." Elijah began but was interrupted with another wave of Elena's hand,
" I know, I know, I know what will happen as the venom starts taking effect. This is not the first time I have taken care of a vampire with a werewolf bite. But I am not leaving you. " Elena said as she searched for a cloth a piece of fabric. Something torn out from her clothes would not work for they were soaked in blood," Not like this. One thing, you should probably know about me is that; I try not to leave the people I care about. And since you do seem to care and be interested in what happens to the babies, we are in for a pretty long ride. It's better to know each other early." she ended her statement with a soft chuckle and Elijah protested no more least for some time. And outside a man and a woman watched those two forming opinions of their own.
Marcel forced himself to take one step after the other while also maintaining his cool and calm facade. The word of the man who was the closest thing he ever had to a father came to his mind. 'No matter whatever you are feeling, be never let it show on your face Marcellus unless you are with your family.' These words did nothing but made the betrayal hurt more. There was a time when he had loved Klaus like a boy loves his father and there was still lots of part within him that still did. He was not sure if they would be able to take Klaus down but odds would be in his favor if Rebekah decided to help which she already did. Marcel took a deep breath trying to get himself under control and focus on what he had to do. If Klaus somehow found a way to reverse the curse that he had placed on the crescent wolves which he will since Sophie Deveraux would be able to reverse the curse placed by her ancestors, then it would be without a doubt that he would use his daughter's blood and make hybrids. The werewolves of the crescent clan, no doubt loathed him after he had cursed them, they would want revenge. And Elena, he didn't even want to think about her, it was like that girl was a danger magnet. Some would argue with him that she had not had a choice. And it would be true in some aspects but destiny had always made the Petrova women to be a pawn but none of them had accepted it and continued to fight it at every turn of their lives. If Marcel was able to take down Klaus then he would also be able to free her from the clutches of the Mikaelsons. That thought was what motivated him to take the final step.
He asked Diego to get all the daywalkers to meet him at one of the hidden rooms in the dungeons beneath the main building. Normally he would only take his innermost group there. It is the most private part of his private quarters, after all. But this meeting was not only important but also extremely confidential. If what Tyler had told him last night was true, then they had a problem in their hands which was like nothing Marcel's faced in all the one hundred-odd years he's been at the helm of the ship in New Orleans. Marcel didn't even know if he could trust his men, there now could be a number of possibilities, Klaus might have got to one of them and compelled them to spy on him or some of them even might be impressed by the power only the original name wielded and switched their allegiance. There could be a number of possibilities all true or none true at all. Marcel shook himself from his thought again, it would do him no good if he started dwelling on what-ifs. He needed to focus on the task at hand. Klaus has been back in town for just a couple of months and already Marcel is becoming paranoid. Like father, like son...
"All right, I am here. Let's do this" Marcel said as he strolled through the compound. Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at him. He turned to Deigo the closest person he trusted after Theirry.
"I'll keep this simple." he said t the crowd assembled at large before he made a hand gesture towards Tyler indicating him, " This kid is an old enemy of your favorite person Klaus. Now he has got plenty to say about what that traitorous son of a bitch has been up to behind my back. " Tyler looked determined and angry while Marcel glanced at all of his day lighters, his family.
" Now for those of you faint of heart, there's the door, because those who stick around you are signing up for battle."
None of them moved and Marcel found himself split between being pleased for their loyalty and fear for their lives.
"You all know Klaus wasn't always a hybrid," Tyler said sitting on one of the stools in the private enclosed space Marcel had brought him to. Tyler forced himself to continue talking, ignoring the pang of guilt he felt. He had wanted to take revenge against Klaus, he still did. Klaus had destroyed him, destroyed his will to live. But when he had stood in front of his mother's corpse and vowed in between tears to avenge her death, he had not known that in order to fulfill his vow he had to hurt one of the people who had been with him since forever. So it was with guilt that he continued. " When he broke the curse that kept his werewolf side dormant, somewhere in all that, certain parts were now able to trump his vampire side. Like the ability to pass on the werewolf gene. That's where the werewolf girl who has been hiding in plain sight from all of you comes in."
"Wait for a second," Deigo interrupted sharply, "Elena's a werewolf?"
"You didn't know?" Tyler asked confused.
Deigo fell down on the sofa his features showing how angry and hurt he was. Marcel gave him a warning look, to control his emotions which he ignored as he said unhappily,
" This just keeps getting better and better."
" Wait, how do you know Elena?" Tyler asked.
" I thought you were the one telling the story," Marcel said with a knowing glint in his eye.
" Well, information for information," Tyler replied.
" She pretended to be my girlfriend, pretended to date me, and then I learned that she was spying on me for Klaus, living with those wretched originals." Deigo contributed his fists tightening. Tyler frowned, this was not like Elena, not at all. She would not do anything like that, toy with someone's feelings. He had received a front-row seat to her guilt of having feelings for both the Salvatores and hurting Matt. But maybe she had changed, as they all had. He remembered the girl she used to be before that fateful car accident that took both of her parent's life. It was after all after that the supernatural had entered into all their lives. He remembered her, how she used to be fun, so fun. She was wild, braver than anyone he had ever known. She used a laugh a lot like the beam of sunlight, a ray of happiness. Her smile was infectious, a smile that cheered Tyler even on his worst days. He remembered the girl who was always up for any games, who liked to tease people, make them laugh. Before the car accident on the bridge, Tyler didn't know that she could be sad, or that she could keep secrets or even hurt someone else. He didn't know that her hurt could ever grow cold. Greif had changed her so much that Tyler thought that he barely knew his friend anymore. Tyler was brought out by his musings when a vampire coughed and motioned for him to continue.
"I grew up with her," Tyler continued. "We've known each other our whole lives since we were kids. She was the kindest and the most compassionate girl that I have ever known, the girl that you see now," he said directing the last bit towards Deigo," is just the shell of the girl that she used to be. She lost her whole family and in her grief, she ended up sleeping with Klaus drunk. Now she's pregnant with his kid."
Diego scoffed. "What the hell is this?"
"Just listen, Diego," Marcel warned.
"When Klaus became a hybrid, he made it his life's mission to figure out a way to turn full-bred werewolves into creatures like him. You're looking at one of them right now. On the plus side, we had all the perks of being vampires. We were stronger, faster, and the toxins in our bites could still kill a vampire, even in our human forms, which we were now in complete control of. We didn't have to turn on full moons anymore. I could do it anytime, or no time at all, and we were still deadly. But on the downside..." Tyler paused, searching for a word "We were loyal to him. Supernaturally loyal."
"Right, and that's why you're here, spilling all his secrets," Diego snapped
"No, that's the point, Diego," Marcel explained his eyes showing that he was losing his patience with Deigo, even if he understood his hurt. "He figured out a way to break free from it."
"And I helped the rest of them, too. Then Klaus killed them for their betrayal."
"Because that's what Klaus does," Rebekah said as she walked in through the door and strolled to the room. "Don't mind me; I'm fascinated by this story. Hello, Tyler," she said smiling.
"Rebekah. Long time no see." Tyler said cautiously. It was now that everyone in the room knew that the tables had turned.
So here is another chapter. I have decided to update twice a week. Do continue reviewing and in answer to one of your queries, Caroline has not yet appeared in New Orleans. She just called from Mystic Falls. Two other new plots have unfolded both of them are displayed by hints of just a line in this update. I think one of them is easy enough to find but the other is more difficult. I would like to see if you can find out the hints
