"He didn't do anything wrong except assume I was just another girl. They always assume that you know?" The stunning woman before me asks. "I've spent my entire life being used for my looks, even when I was a little girl. Everyone looks at me and assumes I'm nothing but a nice body and a pretty face. The only thing this man did differently was have the unfortunate timing to be the straw that broke my camel's back."

It doesn't matter to me. The men she's describing are exactly the type I'm working to rid the world of. I don't need the details of her past, and the only justification I need to end this man's life is her word that he did her wrong.

But I don't say any of that. When someone's offering you half a million dollars, you don't exactly question it or argue with their reasoning.

"He works a lot. He told me that from the start; warned me he wouldn't have time to spend with me. In the beginning, that was fine since he was just a means to scratch an itch. But things got more serious, and my heart got more involved. I hadn't seen him in weeks, but when I finally found him, he was with another woman."

"So he ghosted you, and he cheated? That's suicide in my book," I say, my fingers tapping a tune on the inside of my thigh.

"I was hoping you'd be agreeable."

"Of course. What does he do for a living?"

"He's in law enforcement. That's all he ever gave me. I can give you his phone number and his address, but I'm afraid that's all I've got."

"That's more than I need. Thank you. I ask for half up front and the other half when the job is done."

"I trust you. It's all in your bank account as we speak."

I nod and offer her a rare smile. The only people who get to see them these days are the women I help.

When I leave her place, something feels off. I'm not filled with the same energy to hunt like I normally am, but I shake it off, hoping once I set my eyes on the target, it'll revive me.

Luck is a lady when my new victim literally falls right into my lap when I'm out to dinner the next night.
