Chapter 1

Solstheim - Turdas 18 of last seed of 202 of the Fourth era

The sun was high up as Asia Argento walked through a wasteland of ash. After she closed her eyes waiting for the lightning to hit her, she quickly opened them not feeling the pain from the impact. She then realized that she was no longer in her hometown.

«Where I am?» thought Asia as she continued walking through the desert of ash and sand.

As she looked around her surroundings, she realized that she was on the side of a mountain, which was high enough to allow her to visualize the sea, looking more closely she observed that near the foot of the mountain there was a lake and that a little further in that direction was a river. She then decided to walk in that direction, in order to find some supplies, as she realized that she did not have her suitcase with her therefore she had nothing to eat or drink.

As she Asia continued her walk towards the coast, she thought about how she had gotten to that place. She was so deep in thought of her that she did not notice that the ash on the back of her began to move and creatures began to emerge from her.

Asia decided to turn upon hearing the sound of footsteps, when she did she saw about five humanoid beings made of ash. These beings have gray skin with many cracks and from which small flames arose. Besides that, these beings did not possess eyes. Two of them were armed with a kind of spear that they held with both hands, the other three had swords in one hand, while in the other they had small flames.

—Hi, could you tell me where I am? —Being the innocent person that she was, Asia tried to start a conversation with them and in the process try to know where she was; however, the beings did not respond and began to growl at her as they approached her.

—Please, we shouldn't fight —She tried to reason with them, as she noticed they were approaching her, so he started backing away.

Realizing that they didn't want to talk to her and seeing that they didn't seem to mean well either, he turned and started running as fast as he could, screaming for her help.

—Help! Please help me! —She screamed Asia as she tried to flee from the beings made of ash that were now chasing her.

As she ran she felt something pink her face. Trying to figure out that she was her, she decided to turn her head to see. In doing so, one of those projectiles almost hit her in the face. Thanks to that she realized that these projectiles were fireballs.

As he kept running he did not realize that he was approaching the lake that he had previously envisioned. He also did not notice the branch that was on the ground, a branch that made him trip and fall into the ashes. Asia tried desperately to get up, only to stumble again, then her footsteps were heard closer, she turned her head back and watched as the monsters had cornered her. One of them began to slowly approach her.

—Help! —It was the desperate cry of Asia as she closed her eyes and began to pray waiting for the pain of the blow.

However, the pain never came. Opening her eyes to see what was happening, she watched in amazement as the monster that was going to kill her was impaled with what seemed to be a spear made of ice. Spear that had hit his entire head, thus causing it to turn to ashes. The other monsters, realizing the death of her companion, turned in the direction where the attack had come from and Asia also turned her head in the same direction.

There in front of her and the monsters was what appeared to be a warrior in black armor that appeared to be made from animal shells. He was riding on a kind of bipedal animal with a reptilian appearance, which had leather armor on it. The warrior had his left arm extended and from whose hand a small amount of blue smoke was coming out, while in his right hand he held a sword.

The monsters began to advance towards the stranger and stopped paying any attention to Asia, which she took the opportunity to get up, letting her veil fall at that moment. She started running to take refuge behind a tree that she was near her. Poking his head, he observed how the monsters had approached the unknown warrior, who responded by throwing another ice spear from his left hand, a spear that hit the head of one of the monsters, which, like the previous one, became in a pile of ash. The warrior jumped from his mount and when he stepped on the ground he quickly launched himself towards the monsters and with great agility and precision killed the remaining three.

The day Edzard was to leave for Raven Rock had started quietly. He had awakened moments before dawn and after changing he left the great hall of Skaal village and went to the shaman's hut for breakfast.

—So, Frea, do you think Solstheim will return to normal, now that Miraak's influence is gone?

Frea is a tall woman with a thick build. Plus, she wears carved Norse armor. She has the typical appearance of a Nordic, that is to say blue eyes and blond hair, in addition to having a pale complexion. Her face has a stern expression.

—Yes, Ed. I think Solstheim and the Skaals will return to relative normalcy —Frea commented as she sipped a cup of mead. Across from her, Edzard was drinking a cup of canine root tea, since he didn't drink alcohol in the mornings—. Although, I don't know how long it will be able to last. I feel in my bones that a new great calamity is approaching.

—Me too, Frea, I also offer —sighing Edzard, and it was that despite the fact that three males had been stopped that could end the world, there were still things that could end it: a possible Daedric invasion, some madman that you obtain a powerful artifact and what was possibly the event that would make reality yes or yes, the outbreak of a new war between the domain and the empire. A war for which the empire was not yet sufficiently prepared and the aftermath could be devastating for both sides.

Once he finished breakfast he said goodbye to Frea and the other members of the village. After that he took all the objects that he brought with him. He donned his Morag Tong armor, which was a black variant of chitinous light armor. This armor is made of Necth leather with plates made from the chitin of the ash jumpers, which was reinforced with a special resin.

Edzard walked over to his mount, a golden-eyed guar. This guar had been a gift from an Edil Morvayn after he helped stop a plot to assassinate him. This mount had made it easy for her to travel around Solstheim. This guar apart from having its characteristic golden eyes, had dark brown skin and on top of it apart from the saddle and reins, it wore a small bespoke armor made of studded leather.

He had put his few gears for the journey on the saddle. Which consisted of a sleeping bag, leather skins with water and a small backpack where he had strings of dried meat, bread and some fruits.

Riding his guard, Edzard had set out at first light in the morning. His plan was to follow a path near the coast, then pass near Thirsk's mead hall. And in this way continue to advance to a nearby mountain, where he would make a camp to spend the night, and he had done so. He had made camp on the mountain near the Dwemer ruins of Kagrumez.

Edzard had awakened at dawn. He had had a few strings of dried meat for breakfast with a loaf and an apple. After breakfast, he had climbed on his guard to continue his journey.

He had already traveled a short distance, having slowed the speed of his journey, for he was in no rush to reach Raven Rock. His plan was to stop near the ruined trading post at noon, as he had decided to use the lake found in the vicinity of said stall to be able to open the guard from him.

As he approached the lake he heard the cry for help from what appeared to be a woman. When he heard it, he wasted no time and spurred his guard to go quickly towards where the origin of said scream was observed.

When he reached the area where the scream originated, he saw that a group of five ash spawns had surrounded a young woman, who was wearing a strange dress and had a veil over her head. However, due to the distance she was in, she could not make out the girl's features. But seeing that one of her spawn had approached her and planned to kill her she directed her right hand to the hilt of her sword and drew it. Then he raised her left hand and used an ice spell, which he unleashed like a spear, which pierced the head of the spawn that planned to attack the girl, killing it on the spot. The other monsters, realizing the death of their companion, turned towards him, taking their attention away from the girl. The girl took this opportunity to get up and run to hide behind a tree.

The ashes pawn loomed at Edzard, but he didn't flinch. And although the spawns had an appearance and power above the average mortal, he was more powerful than them and also more terrifying. Or so his enemies said, but he considered himself an average person when it came to his appearance.

When she came to after the thoughts of him she realized that they had gotten too close to him. But he quickly charged the same spell that he used previously, which when fired he killed another of the ashespawn. And when this monstrosity fell, Edzard jumped off his mount. When he hit the ground, he lunged quickly towards the remaining spawn. He beheaded the first with a swift wave of his sword. One of the remaining spawns launched a diagonal blow with his weapon, a blow that was easily evaded and which left a large opening in the defense of the spawn, an opening that Edzard used to drive his sword into its chest, thus ending another. ash spawn. Edzard quickly rolled over realizing that the last spawn took advantage of the fact that he had turned his back on him the moment he killed his partner. When Edzard recovered from his last move, he used a swift swing of his sword to decapitate the last ash spawn.

When Asia saw the mysterious warrior approaching, she decided to leave the safety provided by the tree where he was hiding. Furthermore, she took this opportunity to collect the veil from her. When he got close enough she realized he was about half a head taller than her, and had a slim build. However, she could not visualize her face as it was covered by a helmet, which seemed to be made of the same plates as her armor and had a kind of lens where her eyes should be.

—Thanks for helping me —Asia said, approaching Edzard.

—Beklager, hva sa du? (Sorry, what did you say?) —Edzard asked in Tamrielic.

—Hey, what did you say? —Asia asked a little desperate, as she realized that he spoke a language unknown to her.

—Du snakker ikke tamrielsk språk? (You don't speak the Tamil language?) —Edzard asked, realizing that they did not speak the same language.

Edzard didn't know what to do. When he approached the girl, he had saved from the ashespawn, she came out of the safety of the tree and greeted him in an unknown language.

However, despite not understanding her, he decided to take her opportunity to better see the girl's appearance. And thanks to that she realized that she seemed to be younger than him by a year. She had long blonde hair and green eyes. Her long hair reaches down to her back, with a fringe parted over her forehead and a single strand sticking out from the top, which slants back. For him that type of hairstyle was rare.

The way he spoke had an accent that reminded her of Cyrodill's Imperials. But when he spoke to her, he realized that she had not understood him, so he must think about how to solve the language barrier.

«I could try to use magic to create a nexus that allows us to understand each other, but I don't know that kind of spell» Edzard thought, but quickly dismissed that thought. And it is that despite the fact that he is literally considered a prodigy in the theory of magic and that he dominated the schools of destruction, restoration and others, he did not know these types of spells. Since these spells fall into the branch of mysticism, a branch that is not taught in the college of Winterhold where he was the Archmagi.

«So, it looks like I must take a detour to see Master Neloth» Edzard thought. And it is that even with the peculiarities and way of being of him, the teacher Neloth is one of the best magicians that he knew, besides that he was the closest. If he made the trip at full speed he could reach Tel Mithryn by nightfall.

While Edzard was still deep in thought of him a sound like a growl brought him out of them. Edzard was startled, for the sound was like the growl of a saber cat along with a bear and the roar of a dragon. He began to scan the area with his right hand on the handle of the sword. However, when he turned to look at the girl he noticed that she had a red face, and if her eyes were not deceiving him, smoke was coming out of her ears. He really meant that this was already very strange, but when he sounded that growl again, he finally realized that its origin was the girl's stomach.

Asia wanted the earth to swallow her. After the mysterious warrior had saved her from those monsters and after her futile attempt at communication, she did not expect her stomach to make that sound from lack of food.

—It…. I'm sorry, but will you have something to eat? —She asked Asia shyly, as she was still embarrassed by the sounds that made her stomach. However, he ignored her and she just tilted her head to one side of her. When Asia was going to repeat what he had said, she observed how he turned and went towards her mount and beginning to rummage in a bag, she took out a small package. After taking it, he went to where she was and handed it to her.

Asia took the small package and when she opened it she realized that inside there were some pieces of dried meat, there was also an apple and two loaves. These foods disappeared as quickly as they arrived, because she ate them without caring for manners or decorum. When she finished eating, a kind of leather canteen appeared in her field of vision, which she received and drank. The water had a strange taste. However, for someone who has not eaten or drunk since the day before that didn't matter. When she finished drinking and eating, she tried to thank him. But he realized that he was not in front of her, so looking around her he realized that he was to the side of her mount and began to signal for him to approach her.

Asia cautiously approached the stranger who had saved her. When she got close enough she finally saw that the creature was a dark brown bipedal reptile with golden eyes, she saw how the young man climbed onto her mount and then he extended her hand so that she could go up. Asia still felt worried, but she decided to trust him. So, she took his hand and with his help climbed onto the back. The young man spurred her mount and it began to run rapidly towards the sea.

The trip was uneventful, as they were not attacked by any creature. When the sun was already setting they came to what appeared to be giant mushrooms. The young man led his mount to one of the smaller mushrooms, where they dismounted and then tied him to a stake lying around.

The young man motioned for her to follow him, which Asia did. They both headed for the largest mushroom, which would measure more than ten meters. When they arrived, the young man opened the door and they both entered, and inside Asia realizes that there was nothing, just a kind of round platform which had some writings that she did not recognize.

When Asia tried to ask the young man what she should do with her, he held her in her arms, surprising her. Feeling that she was carried, her Asia began to turn red as a tomato and to stutter. However, she fell silent when the young man flexed his legs and jumped. And what a jump it was, she easily jumped more than twenty feet. She thus arriving at a platform where a nearby table was appreciated. Already being there, she lowered gently, and when she touched the floor she separated a little from him.

—Er herre Neloth her? (Master Neloth, is he here?) —The young man spoke.

Asia wondered what she had said. But her thoughts were stopped when she heard footsteps. She turning to see who was coming, she was surprised when she saw a strange person, because her skin was gray, she had no hair, his eyes were red, and he had a slightly long goatee. But most of all what really surprised him was that she had pointed ears, so she was sure that she was facing an elf. The elf was dressed in a red robe, with designs in gold and on the chest was an emblem that she did not know.

Asia watched as he approached the young man and they began to speak.

Edzard was completely grateful that he was wearing a helmet now, since if he didn't have it everyone could see that his face was red. He didn't know what the hell he had possessed him to carry the girl. But when he carried her he was able to see her body better and he realized that she was modestly developed and that she had the necessary curves in the necessary places.

When he landed on the main floor of the Telvanni tower, he left the girl on the floor, and then called for Master Neloth.

—Guy! Do not move! —Neloth yelled, approaching Edzard—. Let me see you good.

Neloth grabbed the helmet mask and lowered it slightly, also raised the visor, and began to stare at Edzard's face.

—What are you looking for? —Edzard asked shyly, as he felt uncomfortable with the look they were giving him.

—An incipient madness. Loss of self-awareness. Black spots on the whites of the eyes or any of the documented indications of Hermaeus Mora's continuing influence —Neloth replied—. Hm, no. You look good, at least it's no different than when I first saw you.

—I didn't know you cared about me —Edzard spoke, putting his helmet mask and visor back on.

—I don't care about you, I'm only interested in what you've done— Neloth said—. Miraak's influence has faded from Solstheim, so I assumed you had fixed things.

—However, I must ask why are you here? Did something interesting happen?

—The truth is that something interesting has happened to me —Edzard replied as he looked where the girl was. I met a girl who speaks a language that I do not recognize.

Neloth only raised an eyebrow. For him the girl did not seem very interesting, the only thing that really caught his attention about her were the mystical energies that emanated from her hands.

—Um…. So, you've come to see me to fix his communication problem —Neloth concluded as she rubbed his beard.

—Yes, but that's not the only reason I've come.

—What do you want other than to help you with the translation spell?

—Asylum. Just for tonight —Edzard replied—. For me and for the girl.

—You ask a lot, but I think I can let them stay overnight —Neloth replied—. After all, the girl won't be able to move from here until she wakes up.

—Until she wakes up? —Edzard asked confused at not understanding what Neloth mentioned.

—The spell you ask me to perform will put great stress on the girl's mind —Neloth replied—. And therefore, it is normal for her to go into a state of shock and be unconscious for ten hours or so.

—So. Not sure, right?

While it was known that Master Neloth was a great wizard, it was also known that he was eccentric, tyrannical and that he did not care about his apprentices. The fact that he had implanted a heart of stone in one of them was undeniable proof.

—I just have one question before I start the spell. Will the girl suffer no harm other than being unconscious?— Edzard asked.

—She won't suffer any more, I assure you— Neloth replied—. But let's stop talking. The girl is restless and also hungry. I just heard her stomach growl from her. So, she better has her have dinner while I make the preparations.

Edzard nodded and walked over to the girl to tell her they were going to dinner.

—Hey, get ready to eat —Edzard said as he approached her.

—Cosa hai detto? (What did you say?) —Asked the girl, because she had not understood what they had told her.

Edzard, unable to understand him, decided to be bold. So, he took the girl's hand and led her to a table. Then he withdrew to one of the rooms to lay down his weapons and then went to another to look for food. The girl was completely surprised when Edzard returned bringing her a plate of venison stew, with potatoes. He also brought her a cup with canine root.

Asia did not know what to do, because she did not understand what the person who saved her and the elf who apparently was the owner of these houses made of mushrooms were talking. When they finished speaking, the young man returned to where they were. He tried to speak to her, however, he did not understand. Then he took her hand and began to lead her to a table, where after sitting down she saw him go to another room. However, he then returned with a plate and a cup, which he placed in front of her. The dinner plate was a venison stew and it was delicious. However, the tea was something else, she tasted bad, it was very bitter.

It had been a while since she Asia had finished eating and she was currently sitting watching everything around her. The young man who had saved her from her appeared from her and taking her by the hand led her to a room where the owner of the house was also. And in the center of the same room was a white circle. And in the center of the same circle was an eight-pointed star. And in the center of this star was a smaller circle with an eye drawn. Besides that, there were strange symbols around him.

The young man had led Asia to one end of the circle, where there was another circle, but shorter. This circle was connected to the central one thanks to rare symbols. The young man positioned himself in front of her in another circle that was at the other end. The young man sat down and motioned for her to sit down, which he did.

When they were both seated at the ends of the circle, the elf knelt down and placed his hands on the circle. And it began to glow the moment the elf began what appeared to be a spell.

As she poured her magic into the circle, it began to shine with white light and from the young man in front of her a kind of beams of light began to come out. And when he noticed her, the same beams of light also began to come out. However, before she could say anything, the lights emanating from the young man were directed towards her and those emanating from her were directed towards the young man. In this way both beams of light began to enter her bodies. Then Asia began to feel a slight headache, so she put a hand to her temple to try to ease the pain. But the circle got a brighter glow causing Asia's pain to increase and making her cry out. The pain was such that her vision began to dim until she finally lost consciousness.

Edzard was lying on the ground clutching his head. Neloth had risked it. The spell was two-way, because not only did he share with the girl the knowledge of how to speak her language, but she also did it with him, that is, she gave him the knowledge of how to speak her language.

—I see that you are very resistant, Edzard. A normal person would have passed out on the spot, just like he happened to the girl —Neloth mentioned as he pointed to the girl lying unconscious on the floor.

Edzard tried to get up, but the pain was such that he stumbled, falling face down on the ground, thus also falling into unconsciousness.

Author's note:

To be honest this was just an attempt to see what would happen if I translated my fanfiction and the truth is that it is funny that no one mentioned spelling errors to me. The truth is that this fanfic was published in Spanish and there it is already for the tenth chapter. Because being honest, I don't know how to write much in English and I'm relying on Google translators and the dictionaries that come with office 2019.

holosagewolf32: It is true that according to the lore nothing is known about the Dovahkiin after the battle against Miraak, but it is understood that the Dovahkiin will become a servant of Mora. Not knowing what happens next is the good thing, because it allows those who want to write a fanfiction to use their imaginations more openly to create new events that require the need for a Hero of the Elder Scrolls.
