Chapter 50:
The World Martial Arts Tournament Begins!
Last Time the Z-Fighters arrive at the World Martial Arts Tournament, and to Trunks and Goten's dismay, they are unable to join the adults in the main tournament. As The Z-Fighter's qualify for the main tournament, Trunks and Goten easily make it to the Junior Finals.
The two clash with all their might, but in the end, Trunks comes out victorious. After Trunks easily beats Mr. Satan, he and Goten take the identity of Mighty Mask to fight the adults. The main tournament is ready to begin!
But evil looms over the tournament as Jason and the Supreme Kai wait for them to reveal themselves. What happens next Now!
World Martial Arts Arena…
"Ladies and gentlemen, the time has come to begin the Twenty-Fifth World Martial Arts Tournament." The Announcer declared, receiving a roar of applause.
"Here are the fifteen contestants, along with Mr. Satan, who is still resting, that will be fighting for the title of world champion!" The Announcer announced as the fourteen participants came out.
"Which one of these mighty fighters will make the cut? Let's find out!" The Announcer smiled as the participants lined up.
Trunks and Goten, who were hiding with the costume of Mighty Mask, were struggling to stay up straight. They swayed too and from for a while until they finally balanced themselves as names were called to take numbers.
"Uh, Trunks, what's this guy's name?" Goten asked.
"Oh uh…it's…." Trunks stuttered at a loss.
"I don't know. I didn't think that far." Trunks murmured.
"What do we do? He's calling names!?" Goten panicked as Krillin took a number.
"Just wait until no one goes up when a name is called. Good chance it'll be this guy's name." Trunks stated.
"Okay," Goten replied.
"Next up, Spopovich." The Announcer called as the big bald man Trunks and Goten bumped into earlier walked up.
"That guy looks off." Goten pointed out as it was clear was very wrong with the man.
"Yeah, I actually hope we don't have to fight him." Trunks agreed.
"Uh, excuse me, Mighty Mask?" The Announcer called, getting both Goten and Trunks's attention.
"It's your turn to pick a number." The Announcer stated.
"I guess that's us," Goten whispered as he walked over, and Trunks took a number.
"What a dumb name." Trunks murmured.
"Excellent, now we have our brackets!" The Announcer smiled as he presented the brackets to the audience and the participants.
"For the first round, it's Krillin, a veteran who was in several tournaments prior to this one versus Pintar, who lost in the semi-finals in the last tournament!" The Announcer began.
"Oh great, I have to go against this blowhard?" Krillin sighed as Pintar goaded over him with his overconfidence.
"Then we will have Ma Junior another tournament veteran who made it to the finals in an unforgettable match versus Shin a newcomer to the tournament!" The Announcer added.
"Ma Junior?" Goku questioned.
"I thought people would panic if I used Piccolo," Piccolo explained.
"Oh yeah, that makes sense." Goku agreed.
"Next is Videl Satan, daughter of the world champ versus Spopovich, who lost to the champ once before!" The Announcer continued.
"After that, we have two mystery fighters! We have the 'hero' of Satan City, The Great Saiyaman, who shall be battling against the hooded Arrow!" The Announcer declared.
"So I'm up against him." Gohan thought as he looked at Arrow, who gave him no mind. Gohan could still not sense any energy from the fighter, no doubt indicating he could control his energy.
"Then we have our returning champ Hercule Satan versus Lazu…I mean 18!" The Announcer continued sweating a little when he noticed 18's glare.
"The next battle will be Son Goku, who had won a past tournament before versus Vegeta!" The Announcer stated.
"Oh wow, I get to fight Vegeta in the first round!" Goku exclaimed.
"Good we can finally see which one of us is stronger!" Vegeta smirked.
"Next we have Mighty Mask versus Killa!" The Announcer declared.
"Looks like we got an easy opponent," Goten commented as he looked over at Killa.
"Yeah but eventually we'll get the good ones." Trunks agreed.
"And our final matchup will be Jewel versus Yamu!" The Announcer finished.
"Such an interesting lineup this year don't you agree? We may just see a new champion!" The Announcer announced.
"Goku and Vegeta are fighting in the first round?" Chi-Chi gasped.
"Knowing our husbands this is the best thing for them." Bulma chuckled.
"Now let's get this tournament rolling!" The Announcer declared as the participants walked to the waiting area, save Krillin and Pintar, who stayed for their match.
"You're going down little man. You have no chance of winning. You should just give up now." Pintar goaded.
"Whatever." Krillin sighed as he waved to Marron, who was sitting with the others in the crowd.
"Now both fighters please take your places on opposite ends of the ring." The Announcer ordered as Krillin and Pintar took their spots.
"The first match will begin in Three. Two. One. Begin!" The Announcer declared as all eyes in the crowd were on the ring.
But just as soon as it started, did it end as Krillin planted his fist in Pintar's stomach. The man who had been boasting this entire time was easily beaten as his eyes bugged out. He was sent right out of the ring and into the wall securing Krillin's victory.
"Yay Daddy!" Marron cheered as everyone took a minute to process the fight before cheering for Krillin.
"Not bad Krillin. You seem to have kept up with your training." Goku complimented.
"Yeah well me and 18 trained a lot for the tournament," Krillin replied.
"As expected from a tournament veteran!" The Announcer smiled.
As Krillin of Goku conversed, Gohan couldn't help but have his attention drawn to the hooded man named Arrow, who was standing by himself in a corner. Gohan noted that Arrow did not watch the match nor move since they got in the waiting area.
But even so, he could tell that Arrow was waiting for something that wasn't their match. Gohan decided to heed it no mind but to keep it in check just in case. Besides, he didn't want to miss Picolo's match.
"Your friend was pretty strong," Videl commented.
"Yeah wait until you see the others." Gohan laughed.
"This tournament may actually be fun for once." Videl smiled as Piccolo and Shin walked up to the ring.
"The next match. Ma Junior versus Shin!" The Announcer declared as Piccolo and Shin took their places.
"Would you mind not destroying the ring this time please?" The Announcer requested as he walked up to Piccolo.
"Sure," Piccolo responded as he turned his attention to Shin.
"I hope to have a good match," Shin said as he stood across from Piccolo.
"Right same here," Piccolo replied.
He didn't know why but the thought of fighting the person in front of him made him sweat. Something about him made Piccolo nervous, and he didn't know why. Piccolo didn't feel this when he sensed Shin before, but now it was all on him.
"Now that I think about it, something about his energy and clothing is just so familiar could it be…NO IT CAN'T BE!" Piccolo realized as his eyes widened.
"Let the match begin!" The Announcer shouted as both Piccolo and Shin remained unmoving.
Piccolo attempted to move towards Shin, but he was too nervous as he began to realize just who he was. But Piccolo couldn't believe it as he tuned out the crowd who were growing impatient as neither fighter moved.
"This energy I'm getting off of him is just so pure…is he really?" Piccolo wondered as Shin smirked.
"You will find your answer very soon." Shin smiled as Piccolo gasped, realizing that Shin had read his mind.
"What's going on? Piccolo is just standing there?" Krillin questioned.
"It's almost like he's scared or something." Goku pointed out.
"Pathetic what's there to be afraid of? It's just some shrimp." Vegeta scoffed.
"Somethings wrong, Piccolo wouldn't freeze up like this." Gohan thought as the crowd yelled in annoyance.
"I…I…" Piccolo stuttered.
"I forfeit." Piccolo relented as he walked off the ring.
"Forfeit?! Are you sure?" The Announcer questioned.
"Yes," Piccolo responded as he continued to leave.
"Well I guess that's it. Shin is the victor." The Announcer declared as the crowd booed in disappointment.
"What the hell?!" Goku gasped.
"What was he thinking?!" Vegeta questioned.
"Piccolo why did you forfeit?" Gohan asked as he ran up to his friend.
"Sorry, I just could tell he was stronger," Piccolo stated as he walked past everyone to a secluded spot.
"What was that all about?" Videl wondered.
"I don't know," Gohan replied as he watched Shin walk by and out the back. Soon after, Piccolo followed to talk to him.
"Excuse me but can we talk?" Piccolo requested.
"Of course. What would you like to talk about?" Shin inquired.
"Are…are you the Grand Kai?" Piccolo asked.
"Close Piccolo but no. I am the Supreme Kai." Shin revealed shocking Piccolo.
"S-S-Supreme Kai?! You really do exist." Piccolo gasped.
"Yes, but if you do not mind, please do not reveal this information to anyone else yet. There is something very important I must do here, and I cannot have anyone interfere." Shin explained.
"I…I understand sir," Piccolo replied as he left Shin and looked at Arrow.
"Could it be?" Piccolo wondered as Arrow looked at him and gave him a sign to keep quiet. Piccolo nodded as he returned to the others understanding something serious must be going on.
"Well then with that out of the way let us get to the third match! Videl versus Spopovich!" The Announcer declared to a roar of applause.
"Wish me luck!" Videl exclaimed as she ran out to the ring, and Spopovich followed.
"Yeah good luck," Gohan replied as he looked at Spopovich. He didn't know why but something about him felt off.
"That guy looks roided out," Krillin commented.
"It's a bit disturbing." 18 stated.
"Hope you don't mind being beat by a girl," Videl smirked as she took her place on the ring.
Nearby Mr. Satan was in his private suite waiting for his match. He had not watched any of the matches so far, and he didn't plan to. Even when asked if he wanted to go down to watch his daughter, he declined.
"It's obvious she's going to win. She's my little girl after all." Mr. Satan stated.
"Alright fighters get ready!" The Announcer began as both Videl and Spopovich prepared themselves for the fight.
"Three. Two. One. Begin!" The Announcer declared as Videl charged in and struck the first blow.
She first hit Spopovich across the face before landing a kick to the brutes gut. Videl never let up as she assaulted Spopvich, who took every punch and kick she gave. Eventually she knocked Spopovich to the ground, and it seemed that at the moment she had won.
"Amazing it's no surprise that the daughter of the world champion would be so strong!" The Announcer exclaimed.
But soon Spopovich picked himself back up as if nothing happened, and in response Videl attacked him once more. This time she put more force behind her attacks until once again, she forced Spopovich to the ground.
"Wow your girlfriend's pretty good Gohan." Krillin complimented.
"I told you she's not my girlfriend!" Gohan replied.
"But yeah she's doing really well." Gohan agreed.
"Something's off though," Goku stated.
"Kakarot's right her opponent doesn't seem fazed by her attacks." Vegeta pointed out.
"Really?" Gohan questioned as he looked at Spopovich. He noticed that while he physically seemed to be taking damage, his expression and demeanor never changed.
"What's going on?" Gohan wondered as Videl knocked Spopovich down for the third time.
Once again Spopovich got back up, but this time it was different as Videl was getting exhausted. She breathed heavily as her stamina was running low. Each time Spopovich had gotten up, she used more force to put him back down.
It was almost like Spopovich didn't care about what damage he took, as if none of the damage he took affected him. Eventually, Videl kicked him so hard across the face that his head did a 180, and he fell to the ground.
"Oh my word!" The Announcer gasped as the audience looked at the scene in shock.
"I…I didn't mean to…." Videl stuttered as she wasn't thinking about how much force she had put into her kick.
"Videl," Gohan murmured as he looked at the scene. The state Spopovich was in looked fatal, and to any normal human, it would have been. But Gohan could tell that the man was still alive.
"What the hell is he?" Gohan questioned.
"Well, as the rules state, if a contender kills their opponent, then they are disqua…." The Announcer began before stopping short.
He stopped when he saw Spopovich stand back up even though his head was still backward. Everyone all around stared in shock as the man turned his head back around and smirked, still ready for a fight.
"Uh…well, I'll be…he's still alive, so I guess the fight continues." The Announcer stated.
Still shaking from having believed that she killed Spopovich, Videl wasn't ready when the man finally attacked. Spopovich ran up and rammed his knee into Videl's gut knocking the air out of her and causing her to fall to the ground.
When she recovered, she rushed at Spopovich, but he grabbed onto her head and slammed it into the ground before tossing her off the ring. Before she hit the ground, she managed to stop herself and float back to the ring.
"Amazing! Videl just flew!" The Announcer gasped.
"Wow did you teach her that Gohan?" Goku inquired.
"Yeah she picked up on it relatively well," Gohan answered.
"But something's not right here." Gohan thought as he watched the fight. Meanwhile with Mr. Satan he just got the word of Videl's flying and came down to see what was happening.
"What's going on? Did Videl really fly?" Mr. Satan wondered as he watched the fight from the judging room above the waiting room.
He watched as Videl began to struggle fighting against Spopovich, who didn't even flinch at her attacks while now delivering devastating attacks to Videl. Mr. Satan gawked at the scene as he couldn't believe what he saw.
"How is Videl struggling against this guy? When I fought him he was nothing." Mr. Satan questioned as he remembered his fight with Spopovich.
In the last tournament, Mr. Satan was able to beat him with little trouble, but now he seemed very different. Not only was he now bald, but he looked like a drugged-up weight lifter who was about to overdose.
"This is bad. It looks like she can't handle much more." Krillin pointed out.
He was right as Videl looked at the end of her rope. Spopovich beat and battered the girl relentlessly even though he had every opportunity to toss her out. But Spopovich didn't do that. Instead, he opted to focus on hurting Videl more than defeating her.
Audible crunches could be heard as Spopovich broke many of Videl's bones infuriating Gohan as he watched. The Half Saiyan pleaded for the match to stop, but it was no use as Spopovich continued.
Gohan gripped the wooden panel that blocked the entrance to the waiting room as he watched the match. Every time Spopovich hit Videl made him angrier and angrier. He wanted to jump in and intervene, but he knew he couldn't.
But when he saw Spopovich kicking Videl in the face over and over, causing blood to pool out, it caused Gohan to go Super Saiyan on instinct blowing away his scarf. Before he could even go out, he was grabbed onto the shoulder, causing him to turn and see Arrow holding him back.
Arrow simply shook his head before letting go and walking back to his secluded corner. Neither Gohan nor the others realized that he had moved nor that fast. The event caused Vegeta to take some more interest in the hooded man.
The sudden action took Gohan's mind off of Videl, allowing him to calm down for a second and think. He knew he couldn't do anything rash at the moment and turned back to watching the fight.
Spopovich was still assaulting Videl as the crowd begged for the fight to stop Gohan included, but none could get through to Spopovich. It wasn't until Yamu, another tournament participant jumped onto the wall and shout at Spopovich did he stop.
"Enough Spopovich. She can't continue so forget her!" Yamu demanded as Spopovich nodded and tossed Videl out of the ring.
"T-The winner is…Spopovich." The Announcer declared as Spopovich walked off the ring. Gohan ran to Videl's side as Mr. Satan fell down from the referee seating and joined him.
"My Videl!" Mr. Satan cried.
"Get a medic over here already!" Mr. Satan ordered as a stretcher was brought out.
"And who are you?" Mr. Satan questioned.
"I'm her friend," Gohan replied as she was taken away.
"I hope Videl is going to be okay." Erasa hoped as she and Sharpner sat in the stands.
While Mr. Satan accompanied Videl to the infirmary, Gohan turned his focus onto Spopovich, who grinned at the sight of Videl's injured body. Gohan slowly made his way over to Spopovich before he stared directly at the brute.
"I'll tell you this here and now. I will make you pay for that," Gohan stated before walking back to his friends.
"Dad do you think you can go and get a senzu bean?" Gohan requested.
"Sure thing, I'll be right back," Goku replied as he used Instant Transmission to go to Korrin's.
"I'll be right back," Gohan said as he ran out to the Announcer.
"Hey, can you hold off starting the next match?" Gohan requested.
"What why?" The Announcer inquired.
"I just want to make sure Videl is okay, so if you can wait at least ten minutes," Gohan explained.
"Alright, that's fine." The Announcer replied.
"The next match is going to be temporarily put on hold until the health of Videl Satan is confirmed to be okay!" The Announcer declared.
The crowd liked the decision as Gohan returned to the others waiting for his father to return with a senzu bean. Thankfully it didn't take long before Goku returned with the healing bean and a few extra.
Gohan thanked his father before taking a bean and heading off to find Videl. As Gohan ran, Vegeta approached Arrow, who was back to standing in his corner. The man only acknowledged Vegeta's presence when the Saiyan Prince was right next to him.
"It's you isn't it Arrow?" Vegeta questioned.
The only response he got was Arrow holding one finger before his face telling Vegeta to be quiet about it. Vegeta scowled before nodding and returning to the others. With Gohan, he had reached Videl's room, where Mr. Satan was making sure his daughter was okay.
"Uh sir, you can't go in there!" An Attendant stated as Gohan burst into the room.
"What are you doing here?!" Mr. Satan questioned as Gohan rushed past him to Videl.
"Hey Videl, eat this. It will make you all better." Gohan assured as Videl weakly looked at him.
"Now wait a minute. Videl is in a critical condition. She can't eat this crap!" Mr. Satan yelled.
"N-no it's…fine…." Videl murmured, struggling to talk.
"Videl?" Mr. Satan gasped.
"I trust you Gohan." Videl smiled.
"But Videl…" Mr. Satan said, worried about his daughter's safety as Gohan gave her the senzu bean.
Immediately after she ate the bean, all of her wounds healed, and she was back to one hundred percent. When she sat up, the doctors and Mr. Satan himself were a gasp at the sight of Videl being able to move completely fine.
"Wha…but…how?" Mr. Satan questioned.
"Wow. Thanks Gohan." Videl thanked.
"No problem. I have to go to my match. I'll catch up with you later." Gohan replied as he left.
"Videl who is he? He said he was a friend, but something else is going on, isn't there?!" Mr. Satan questioned.
"No Dad he's just a friend. Nothing's going on," Videl assured her father.
"Not yet." Videl smiled.
Remnant…
Neo sat feeding her son as she watched her daughter play with Nicole. She was glad for these little moments in life though she wished Jason was around too. Thinking about her husband, she hoped nothing bad was going to happen with the mission with the Supreme Kai.
Though when events like this happened, usually it did get bad, but she had faith that Jason would come back alive. She also hoped he would come back soon because no doubt the kids will miss him too, and she allowed him on this mission on a condition.
"It's going to be a fun night when he gets home." Neo smiled as she looked up at the bright blue sky.
When she looked back down, she noticed how happy her daughter was with playing. It made her happy. Scarlet was much like her father in many regards. It wasn't just the fact she enjoyed watching fights or the idea of physical activity.
She had her father's kindness and acceptance towards others. Neo smiles every time Scarlet talks to others. Scarlet was just as friendly as Jason was and looked forward to making new friends even if there weren't many kids her age in Saiyatown.
It wouldn't surprise Neo one bit if Scarlet ended up just like her father one day. That being said, she wondered what Roman would be like when he grew up. Maybe he may be like her one day. Hell, she could teach him all sorts of tricks.
But then again, she doesn't do most of her old tricks, but she could always teach him how to fight like she does. The idea made her happy to pass on what she learned. No doubt Jason felt the same about teaching their kids too.
"I wonder how the mission's going now?" Neo wondered.
Earth World Martial Arts Arena…
Gohan returned to the waiting area where the referees and the Announcer were waiting for him. He told them he was ready and that Videl was all better of which they announced to the crowd before getting ready to start the match.
Arrow, or more specifically Jason, continued to wait in the corner. It was finally about to be time. Soon he will reveal to Gohan the situation and find where the Wizard Babidi was hiding and stop him from reviving Majin Buu.
"I can't let him revive Buu not just for Earth but the universe too." Jason thought as he took out a locket he carried in his pocket. Inside was a picture of his family.
"And especially to protect them." Jason thought as he put the locket away when he noticed Gohan approaching him.
"Sorry to keep you waiting, but just to let you know, I don't plan on losing. I need to take down Spopovich." Gohan said.
Jason nodded in response as he wasn't going to give himself away just yet, not until the match. As Gohan left, Jason looked at Shin, getting a notice that the plan was still underway. Moving away from the corner, Jason was just in time to hear the Announcer declare his match.
"Alright ladies and gentlemen, after that delay, it is time for the next match!" The Announcer declared, getting a roar of applause.
"Our first contestant is a man who has been making grand appearances in Satan City The Great Saiyaman!" The Announcer continued as Gohan walked to the ring.
"That's the Great Saiyaman?" Erasa questioned as she watched from the stands.
"Hey his hair looks familiar." Sharpner pointed out.
"Hey yeah….isn't that Gohan?" Erasa inquired.
"It is Gohan!" Sharpner gasped.
"What's he doing down there calling himself the Great Saiyaman?" Sharpner wondered.
"Maybe he's shy," Erasa suggested.
"Go get him Gohan!" Erasa cheered.
Gohan froze in place when he heard that, just realizing that his scarf was gone. Upon seeing that people in the crowd knew who he was, further hiding his identity seemed pointless. So he took off his sunglasses and tossed them away with his cape preparing for the fight.
"Our second fighter is a mystery as he has only revealed his name Arrow!" The Announcer declared as Jason took his spot across from Gohan.
"Before we start, I have to ask. You know how to control your energy, can't you?" Gohan asked.
"Yeah I can," Jason answered as Gohan recognized the voice.
"Jason!" Gohan gasped as Jason tore the cloak off of himself.
"What's Jason doing here?" Krillin questioned.
"If I knew he was coming, I would have trained even harder," Goku said.
"But what are you doing here?" Gohan questioned.
"I'll explain soon Gohan but first we have a match to fight," Jason stated.
"And just to let you know, you better go all out if you want to win," Jason added as he transformed into Super Saiyan 2.
"What is he doing? I didn't want to use Super Saiyan during the tournament." Gohan wondered.
"I guess I have no choice." Gohan sighed as he transformed into Super Saiyan 2 as well.
"Whoa, what's going on?" Some in the crowd questioned.
"How did their hair change?" Others asked.
"I don't know what's going on but let's do this," Gohan said as unknown to him Spopovich and Yamu watched the two Super Saiyan's with a strange device.
"Look at this. Their energy is off the charts!" Yamu gasped.
"But who do we take it from?" Spopovich questioned.
"Doesn't matter," Yamu stated.
Just before Jason and Gohan could start the fight, Spopovich and Yamu grabbed onto Gohan and stabbed him with the device. They began to steal Gohan's energy until the device was full, and they flew off. Jason watched them go before going to Gohan's side.
"What was that?!" The Announcer questioned.
"Sorry, Gohan, I couldn't interfere with that." Jason apologized as Kibito jumped down from above.
"What's going on? Why did those two attack Gohan?" Goku wondered.
"And why did Arrow just stand there?" Vegeta questioned.
"All will be revealed soon enough," Shin stated, getting everyone's attention.
"You're part of this, aren't you, so explain now!" Vegeta demanded as he approached Shin.
"Vegeta don't threaten the Supreme Kai!" Piccolo shouted.
"The Supreme Kai!" The group gasped.
"Yes. I am the Supreme Kai." Shin introduced.
"I will explain everything, but I request your aid just as I did with Jason Shin." Shin requested.
"You need our help?" Goku asked.
"Yes, it is of the utmost importance. The universe is at risk." Shin answered.
"But what about Gohan? We need to give him a senzu?" Krillin wondered.
"Don't worry, my assistant Kibito has that under control," Shin responded.
Over with Jason and Gohan, Kibito joined them and placed his hand on Gohan's chest, and the Half Saiyan lit up. When the light died down, Gohan was fully healed and his energy restored as Kibito dropped down exhausted.
"You had more energy than I realized." Kibito sighed as he breathed heavily.
"Thanks, but what the hell was that?" Gohan inquired.
"It's a long story, Gohan, and we need your help if your willing to come," Jason answered.
"Where is it that we're going?" Gohan asked.
"Following the two that just stole your energy," Jason explained.
"Let me guess something dangerous?" Gohan questioned.
"As dangerous as it gets, my friend," Jason replied.
"Well, I can't say no to that then," Gohan stated as he got up.
"Let's not waste time then. Hope you don't mind leaving the tournament." Jason said as he flew off.
"It's fine. I only came because of Videl anyway." Gohan replied as he followed.
"Where are they going?" Vegeta questioned.
"I don't know, but they may need our help," Goku replied as he flew after them.
"What Kakarot, you can't leave yet!" Vegeta shouted as he followed.
"Looks like we're going then, so will you be explaining what's going on?" Piccolo inquired.
"Yes, I will explain on the way," Shin answered as he and Piccolo flew off.
"Uh, where are you all going?!" The Announcer questioned.
"This isn't going to be good." Krillin sighed as he turned to 18.
"You can go." 18 smiled.
"And you?" Krillin asked.
"I'm staying. With all of those Saiyans going, I doubt they need me to go." 18 responded.
"Alright." Krillin nodded as he gave chase.
As he flew off, Videl came out and saw the group flying away. Wanting to know what was happening, she gave chase. The entire event caused a stunned silence with the crowd as they didn't know what to do next.
"Uh…does that mean they forfeit?" The Announcer questioned the referees, who shrugged.
"Well…give us a minute as we figure out what to do next." The Announcer declared.
"Should we go too?" Goten asked.
"Nah, I doubt it's anything cool." Trunks responded.
"Why did they leave?" Chi-Chi questioned.
"Let's hope it's not some world-ending event again." Bulma sighed as Yamcha watched as his friends flew away.
"You want to help don't you Yamcha?" Master Roshi asked.
"Is it that obvious?" Yamcha inquired.
"Yep." Master Roshi chuckled.
"Sadly, there isn't much I can do," Yamcha murmured.
"Don't sell yourself short Yamcha. If they need either of us, there's nothing stopping us from helping. Even if you're retired." Master Roshi assured.
"Yeah," Yamcha replied.
Elsewhere…
Jason sped after Spopvich and Yamu but kept behind far enough for them not to see him. Behind him, Gohan and eventually the rest of the Z-fighters joined him. When they all regrouped and Gohan helped Videl catch up, it was time to explain the situation.
"All right, I think we deserve an explanation about what's going on." Piccolo pointed out.
"Sorry for keeping you in the dark, but we couldn't afford the enemy to find out about our plan." Jason apologized.
"And who's this enemy?" Vegeta questioned.
"His name is Babidi, and he wishes to revive Majin Buu," Shin explained.
"Majin Buu, you mean that thing Sekai warned Jason about?" Krillin asked.
"The very same," Jason answered.
"I'm confused," Videl stated.
"It's a long story." Gohan began.
"Do you remember a few years back when Earth was attacked by several unidentified people?" Gohan asked.
"Yeah, my Dad said he had students who drove them off by copying their tricks," Videl responded.
"That's not entirely true," Gohan replied.
"It was actually us," Piccolo revealed.
"Wait, you guys studied under my Dad?" Videl questioned as Vegeta laughed loud at the very idea.
"Hell no, why would we train under that weakling?" Vegeta laughed.
"Excuse me?" Videl questioned.
"Vegeta couldn't you have been a little less blunt?" Jason asked.
"Why?" Vegeta inquired.
"What's going on?" Videl questioned.
"Your Dad. Wasn't entirely honest about what he said back then." Gohan answered, trying to find a way to explain the situation to Videl without being hurtful.
"He lied about what he said then, and he lied about beating Cell," Krillin explained.
"Oh, come on!" Gohan complained.
"What there's no easy way to say it," Krillin replied.
"So my Dad has been lying all this time?" Videl asked.
"Wait a minute, that thing you did earlier. Your hair turned blonde. It was like that boy who fought in the Cell Games. Was that you?" Videl inquired.
"Y-Yeah," Gohan answered.
"So that means you beat Cell, not my Dad." Videl realized.
"Yeah I did," Gohan replied.
"That makes so much more sense!" Videl exclaimed.
"Wait, your not mad or sad?" Gohan questioned.
"Well I'm a little mad about my Dad lying yeah but I always felt like he was hiding something. After watching the Cell Games and seeing my Dad get sent off the ring, it didn't add up." Videl explained.
"Excuse me, while this conversation is all good and all, I think it would be best for us to focus on the task at hand and for the young lady to head back." Kibito interrupted.
"Why should I go?" Videl questioned.
"This is possibly going to get dangerous Videl so he's right. You should head back. I don't want to see you hurt again." Gohan explained, causing Videl to blush.
"Okay," Videl replied as she slowed down, and the others flew off faster.
"Come back safe Gohan." Videl smiled as she flew back to the tournament arena.
"Wow Gohan, I didn't know you were such a romantic." Krillin laughed.
"I told you it's not like that!" Gohan replied with a slight blush.
"Sometimes, I feel like I still don't understand romance. But then again, I only know what I experience with my relationship with Neo." Jason murmured.
"We better be back so that Kakarot and I can have our match," Vegeta muttered.
"Do you really need a match to fight? If you don't get back in time, just fight off somewhere." Jason pointed out.
"That's a good point." Goku agreed.
"Let us not waste any more time," Shin suggested as the group flew at top speed to catch up with Spopovich and Yamu.

Author's Note:
With that closes another chapter! I hope you guys enjoyed it. I did want to make certain things a little longer, but I couldn't do it without making it sound derivative. Either way, I think it came out pretty good.
Next chapter, we get to see some good action as I will change how the entire battles in Babidi's ship play out. One thing, though, I just want to mention is how surreal it is knowing that this is chapter 50! I mean, damn that's a lot of chapters XD.
While I didn't make a special chapter like I did in chapter 30, this still feels great. So let's hope the next 50 chapters will go just as well. Honestly, I don't know how long this fic is going to end up being word count and chapter-wise, but one day we'll all know.
Reviews:
MattMatrix – Yeah Gohan's energy will fill up Buu's meter very different here, but it may not be in the way you think. I won't spoil anything, so you'll see soon enough. As for Majin Vegeta, he may still end up being a thing you never know! Glad you enjoyed.
Monster King – Well, glad you liked it. Hope this chapter was just as awesome as the last for you.
That's all I have for today, so I'll see you guys next chapter!
