Chapter 1
A young boy with shaggy black hair, much too pale skin, huge baggy clothes, emerald green eyes, and looking no older than 3 was crying and shivering terribly as a huge man of walrus size with short blond hair, a mustache, clothes that were outfitted for business, and beady blue eyes threw him into the shed growling at the sounds the little boy made. "I am having guests over for Christmas dinner and you will only stink up our house if we allowed you to stay in the cupboard." He said harshly as he tossed in a torn up blanket and a small loaf of bread. "You better not do anything stupid while in there you damn little freak."
"Yes sir." The little boy said and the man shut and locked the shed doors. He whimpered as snow and wind passed through the spaces between the boards and put the blanket around him as he held the loaf of bread. As he stared at the bread, he wished with all his heart to be anywhere else. He was tired of being cold, lonely, starving, and tired everyday. He wanted to be where he could become something more than a freak, a waste of space. He wanted to be free of this torment and pitiful place and wished desperately that it would end. He closed his eyes tightly as he could as the wind of coldness picked up as a storm slowly started to pick up outside.
Unknown to the little boy, the storm was only set onto the shed he was in and the longer he wished he was gone, the more powerful it became until a huge flash of light erupted from inside the shed blowing it into splinters. The man from before rushed outside to see the devastation that use to be his shed and roared in anger at the state it was in. The little boy though, was nowhere to be found as if he just disappeared from existence.
…
In a castle in Scotland, an elderly man with long white hair, a long white beard, and odd placed robes was startled out of his sleep as various instruments in the main office started to explode and set off alarms. He instantly opened with eyes, put on his half moon shaped glasses revealing blue eyes that held a slight twinkle, and rushed out of bed into the office room that adjourned his. Immediately the instruments that were setting off alarms stopped and the old man took out a stick mumbling words over the instruments. His expression immediately grew worried as nothing he did seem to get the instruments to work again and immediately changed his robes with another wave of his wand. He went over to the fireplace and threw in a bunch of powder before calling out, "Minerva McGonagall!"
Instantly a woman with a tight bun and a nightdress appeared in the flames that appeared. "Albus?" She questioned sharply. "Why have you called this time of night?"
The old man, Albus, sighed heavily before saying, "I need you to come through."
The woman, Minerva, soon appeared through the fireplace and noticed the smoking and destroyed instruments behind him. "What is going on Albus?" She questioned once more.
Albus walked over to their instruments and said, "These were monitoring Harry Potter."
Minerva arched an elegant eyebrow. "So I am aware Albus." She said tightly.
"Not even 10 minutes ago the were destroyed signaling that he is unwell." Albus said. "I need you to stay here in the office while I apparate to his relatives home."
Minerva pursed her lips tightly before nodding. "Very well Albus but if anything has happened to that poor boy so help me you will be in more trouble than you could imagine."
Albus nodded and soon out of the office walking quickly down through the the castle and to the gates where he could apparate safely. As soon as he got to the gates he disappeared with a soft pop. He reappeared on a road where the home he was looking for was but stopped short when all around the home were police and a singular fire truck. He quickly changed the robes he was in into business attire with a quick wave of his wand and made an official badge that said 'Detective Dumbledore' and put it into his pocket before walking over to where the Chief of police was. As he got closer the chief seemed to be discussing something with his colleagues and the fire chief as well. "Excuse me," he said gaining the police and fire Chief's attention. "May I ask what has happened here?"
"And you are?" The police chief asked looking at Albus warily.
Albus took out his badge and showed it to the two chief's. "Detective Albus Dumbledore. I follow up at the house every so often to check on a child charge of mine, who's name is Harry Potter, here."
"Well, we got a call from a neighbor frantically saying that she saw an explosion of some sort in the back of number 4 Private Drive and heard a scream of a man but when we arrived the family adamantly denied everything making us suspicious. An officer of mine noticed a smell in the home and the wreckage in the back but they started to deny things even more which got us probable cause to enter the home. Right now the family is in the house answering officers questions." The chief of police said. "My name is Chief Rogers at your service Mister Dumbledore." He held his hand out and Albus shook it firmly before letting go.
"Nice to meet you Chief Rodgers." Albus nodded before heading inside the home. As he entered he saw police taking pictures of a cupboard and immediately spotted the family whom he left young Harry with talking to officers. The woman, Petunia if he recalled correctly, was sitting up ramrod straight in a yellow dress that reached knee length, her brown hair was in perfect curls, her pencil neck bobbing with every word she said or agreed with, her beady brown eyes looking anywhere but directly at the officers, and her complexion was slightly pale. Her husband, Vernon, was as fat as a walrus and his face was turning redder with every question that was asked, his hair slightly disheveled, his suit was wet and dirty, and his beady eyes were glaring at the men in front of him, the child they had in between them was definitely not Harry Potter as he seemed to be a miniature version of his father in airplane pajamas, his mothers eyes, and he was whining about being hungry every minute. "Officers." he said as attention turned to him. "I will need to ask questions to the family as well for I do not spot my young charge here."
The two officers looked at each other before one asked, "Does the chief know you are here?"
Albus nodded. "Chief Rodgers gave me the clear to ask them my own questions."
The two grownups on the couch immediately paled as they recognized him right away. "What are you doing here?" Petunia asked harshly as soon as the officers left the room.
"Where is your nephew?" Albus questioned directly as Vernon nearly got purple from rage hearing the word nephew.
"The freak left that's where." Vernon growled out.
Albus calmly took in that statement. "He left?" He said back.
"The boy wandered away when he discovered we couldn't get him the toy he wanted!" Petunia said quickly and Albus immediately knew that she was hiding something.
Albus looked around and noticed the many presents under the tree. "None of those are for young Harry?"
"No!" The young boy exclaimed loudly. "The freak deserves nothing that I have!"
Before Albus could ask the child why, one of the officers called him over to talk in private. "Yes officer?" Albus asked quietly once he reached her side.
"You might want to look at the space under the stairs." The young female said gently. "If what you told the chief was true and you had a charge here then you might want to take in what's in there." She gave Albus a gentle look before glaring at the two grownups and walking away leaving another officer and his partner to watch the family.
Albus followed the officer with his eyes before turning his gaze upon the cupboard he noticed it ajar slightly but the officer that was photographing it before was to the side breathing heavily. He looked closer at the door as he headed towards it and noticed a slightly bloody handprint on the outside of the doorframe and he started to fear for what was in it. All to quickly, he reached the small cupboard and opened it the rest of the way but had to immediately turn away with eyes closed and stomach turning in nausea as the smell and look of the cupboard was more appalling than he had ever imagined. Albus had visited before but he was taken to a room that had huge amounts of toys and a messy bed. Harry didn't talk that day and more slept through his visit in the bed as Petunia claimed that a cold had been going around the neighborhood. Albus took a deep breath before turning back around and looking into the cupboard observing the dirty child mattress, the bucket full of waste, the broken soldier toy, and one stuffed animal of a deer that looked worn and used but in good condition. He reached in the cupboard and grabbed the stuffed deer instantly recognizing it from the first birthday present he and McGonagall worked on to get Harry while James and Lily were in hiding.
He turned back around with the stuffed animal gently grasped in his hands. "I gave this to Harry for his first birthday. My dear friend and I worked to make this for him." He said with concealed anger as he walked back to the family of three.
"So?" Petunia sniffed haughtily. "He was lucky that I let him keep that dratted old looking thing."
The officers in the room and Albus looked at her in disbelief. "Are you saying that a little child actually lived in that cupboard?" An officer asked in repressed rage.
"Little freak deserved what we gave him!" Vernon said in anger. "He didn't appreciate what we gave him so he was punished every so often."
"Where is he?" Albus asked.
"Like I said, the freak ran away." Vernon said. "Tore apart the shed in his freakish way and ran off."
"You expect a little boy the age of 5 to destroy a shed without leaving a trace of it?" Another officer questioned.
"I saw snow flurries blow it up after a white light boomed from in it!" The child said. "It was awesome! But daddy said it was the freak of nature's fault and went outside. Can I eat cookies now?"
"Of course you can sweetie." Petunia said getting up before being blocked by an officer. "Excuse me." She tried to get by but the officer refused her passage into the kitchen.
"I'm sorry ma'am but until we collect all the evidence you have to stay put." The officer said. "Sit down. Your child can handle being without cookies for a little bit."
"I want cookies now!" The child raged turning red. "I WANT!" Tears poured from his eyes and he fell to the ground in a tantrum induced anger.
Soon there were raised voices and a punch was thrown by Vernon making all the officers in the house to subdue and put him in cuffs before doing the same to Petunia and carrying the raging overweight child into the back of a different cop car than the parents. Albus walked out of the house, the stuffed animal still in his hands as Chief Rodgers walked to him. "Detective Dumbledore?" He said getting Albus' attention. "We need you to look at the remnants of the shed. Just in case you spot something we missed."
Albus nodded and followed Chief Rodgers to the back of the house and observed the wreckage that was buried in snow with little parts of it unburied from firemen digging for anything useful. "This is all that is left of the shed?" Albus asked.
"Unfortunately." The chief said before noticing the toy in Albus' hands. "Was that your young charges toy?" He asked gently.
Albus nodded and Chief Rodgers sighed. "You realize it is evidence in this case and needs to be bagged and tagged correct detective?"
"Huh?" Albus said before realizing what all the chief said. "Oh. Oh yes I know. I just..." he looked at the chief and sighed in sadness. "This was a toy that I gave to my young charge when he was with his parents. It is...sentimental to me I suppose."
Chief Rodgers had sympathy to the man but held out his gloved hand. "I still need it sadly." He said gently. "I promise I will give it to you personally once it is processed and presented to the judge. As long as you keep it in a safe place after that. Your young charge might recognize it if he is alive and found."
Albus only slightly hesitated before gently handing over the toy. "I will look over the wreckage and come find you." He said softly to the chief as he walked closer to the shed. As soon as Albus knew that the chief was gone he pulled out his wand and cast a couple of spells only for them to come up empty on where young Harry went to. He walked around the wreckage a few times trying to spot anything that would signify that Harry was here when a spell suddenly revealed a torn blanket that was just sticking out from the top of the wreckage. Albus used a slight levitation spell as he pulled the blanket out of the twisted pieces of wood and splinters. He slowly took the blanket and hid his wand before walking to the front of the house being met immediately by Chief Rodgers. "I found this blanket in the wreckage." Albus said giving that blanket over to Chief Rodgers to bag and put with the rest of the evidence. "I need to inform my coworker about the development of my charge." Albus said as the chief finished up with his work.
Chief Rodgers nodded as he looked at Albus. "Very well. Do you have a business card I can call you at or an email?" He asked.
Albus shook his head and said, "I am very old fashioned as you can guess. I have trained a falcon to deliver messages to me just in case I need to hide in a safe place with victims so I have started to rely on him more often than not." He smiled. "I know it's odd but he grew to be an old friend and I could never use much of anything else for communication. I do have an address you can mail updated letters to if that is more appealing."
The chief smiled knowingly. "No, if you have a way that appeals to you than you use that." He took out his wallet and pulled out a business card before taking out a pen and writing on the back of it. "This is my home address so that you feel more comfortable using your falcon in private." He gave the card to Albus smiling. "My brother went to your school." He said softly as Albus looked at him in surprise. "I wasn't able to go but my brother and I are close so he told me about his years there. I won't tell anyone as nobody but my brother would believe me anyway but I promise I can do right by your charge. He is the savior but I will treat him just as I would any missing child I hope you know and that is with all my power, I will put these people away and prevent them from doing it again."
Albus, while surprised and a little caught off guard, smiled at the chief. "Thank you very much Chief Rodgers. May I inquire on your brothers' name?" He asked.
"Richard Rodgers." The chief said. "He works with some animal handlers in Romania but comes down every so often."
"Ah." Albus said nodding. "A young student is currently looking towards that career himself. Hopefully your brother enjoys it?"
"He says it is very rewarding. He is one of the top handlers." Chief Rodgers said.
"Well, I will be sure to inform my young student his path is set to be a well rewarding one then." Albus laughed.
"Well you better get back Detective." The chief said as cop cars slowly drove away. "I will be staying with the fire department as they go through the wreck in the back. Just in case evidence or a body shows up I need to stay."
Albus nodded once more and said his goodbyes before walking down the street and disappearing with a crack reappearing in front of the castle gates. He looked sadly up at the castle and sighed as he dreaded the talk that he was going to have with McGonagall but strode forward to face her wrath.
…
The young boy woke up and looked around only to find himself locked in a cylinder tube with all sorts of wires attached to his body he carefully stood up and immediately tried to pull off the wires only to stop when he was zapped by electricity, painfully bringing him to his knees. "What..." he looked up only to see a man, with round glasses, white hair, pale skin, and dressed in a white coat in front on him beyond the glass. "What's going on mister?" He asked.
The man scoffed at the young boy and said, "I am Doctor Fuji and you were brought here to help me complete my mission."
The young boy shivered at the cold tone of the man's, Doctor Fuji's, voice. "Mission?" He whispered.
"My mission to create the strongest Pokémon!" his eyes shone brightly before looking upon the terrified form of the young boy in front of him in the glass cylinder. He looked around taking note of the scientists around and said, "I want everyone out now while I discuss things with this boy." The other scientists hesitated looking at each other but Doctor Fuji shouted, "NOW!" Making the young boy flinch and the scientists rushed out of the room until only Doctor Fuji was alone with the young boy.
The young boy shivered in fear and tears started to form as Doctor Fuji looked at him once more. "Why me?"
Doctor Fuji sighed almost reluctantly. "You appeared so suddenly in front of my superior during the discussion of creating the strongest Pokémon in the world. It was like, you were just delivered to us on a silver platter. Ready to be made into something more than just a human."
"Pokémon? More than human?" The young boy said. "What do you mean? What is Pokémon?"
Doctor Fuji looked confusingly at the young boy. "You don't know what a Pokémon is?"
"Freaks aren't supposed to know things." The young boy stated looking down.
Doctor Fuji started quite suddenly at the statement the boy gave. "Freak?" He asked. "You aren't a freak, you have amazing powers!"
The boy flinched. "I am a freak. Uncle says I am since I make things happen around me."
Doctor Fuji pursed his lips as he grew a bit angry at the being who drove this trash into the young boy's mind. "Well I do not think so."
The boy looked back to Doctor Fuji in surprise. "You don't?"
"No." He said shaking his head. "In fact why don't you tell me your name?"
"I was always called 'freak' or 'boy'."
"Well we can't have that." Doctor Fuji said. "I would like to give you a name."
The boy held a breath for a minute. "A name? Of my very own?"
"Absolutely!" Doctor Fuji smiled widely. "It will become your new name once you become the role of the most powerful Pokémon."
"But what is a Pokémon?"
"Pokémon are wondrous creatures that are found all around the world. There are many variety and types of them in each region and every sea. There are hundreds of them! Surely you have seen some while outside?"
"I only saw birds and bugs but never Pokémon. I know some animal names like tiger or lion though."
Doctor Fuji furrowed his brow in confusion. "Animal?" He said quietly. "I've never heard of that name describing Pokémon."
"Maybe it's because I am from England?"
That name certainly put Doctor Fuji on edge. "I have a theory but let us focus on what will be going on from here on out."
"Okay."
"First your name will be something we have tried to create in the past but all have sadly been catastrophic failures. When you appeared, your body sent signals nearly identical to the one thing we needed to make this project possible. My superior does not have any sympathy for anything or anyone other than himself and he ordered us to use you to complete the creation."
"He sounds mean."
"Quite but he will know if we put this off too long." Doctor Fuji looked deeply into the emerald eyes of the young boy. "I want you to understand that my superior will not stop hurting others to get what he wants. You may not even be the last child that he will make us experiment on." He turned to the wall facing away from the young boy before sighing. "I have tried in the past to create something precious to me. My daughter was one of the experiments that I have tried to recreate her time and time again after she passed away but each time was more heartbreaking than the last." He turned back to face the boy once more. "I do not want to face another child fading away like my daughter had those several times."
"I don't want to fade away. I am only 5." The boy whispered. "But I don't want to be something others take advantage of anymore."
"You have to fight to survive this every step of the way you know. There can be no lapse in judgement or spirit once we start the process of making you into the creation we strive to succeed at."
The boy looked at Doctor Fuji and nodded. "I will fight. Every step of the way." He said.
"Very well." Doctor Fuji walked away and called in the other scientists. "People. I have talked with this young, marvelous boy and he has agreed to help us with the project our superior gave us to make real. From now on the boys name will be written down in history as the greatest Pokémon that has ever lived."
Doctor Fuji turned to the boy and nodded towards him as liquid filled up the cylinder to the very top making him feel sleepy but just before he fell asleep he heard his new name being said.
"He is now Mewtwo."
4 Years Later
The lab Doctor Fuji was in was cleared of scientists and lab techs once more as was per normal once a week where they kept their project. He was growing fantastically and holding strong every time the serum changed to make him more and more into the creation they all knew he would be. Doctor Fuji knew it was unethical to get attached to this creation but he couldn't help it after he started to talk about his past to him for the first year of being in the liquid that held the serum and kept him alive. What the newly named Mewtwo had told him about his relatives made him almost sick to his stomach but learning and concluding that he wasn't even part of this world was making Doctor Fuji even more connected to Mewtwo. He was the only thing Mewtwo had learned some type of kindness and compassion from and so he took up the role of father to him and cherished every moment he was called father.
He looked at the time, sitting at his desk and sighed deeply as he then looked at what used to be a young boy but now was a purple, bipedal feline Pokémon with voluptuous thighs, a big, long, and thick tail with a bulbous end, three circular fingertips on each hand and two circular toes on each foot, a well toned chest, crest-like antennae, a tube that connected from the back of the head to the center of the back, and his size was that of a late teenager about 5 foot 9 inches. As he observed he noticed the brainwaves starting to become active and put on a special helmet he had created to communicate with Mewtwo rolling over his chair to the front of the cylinder and sat forward waiting for Mewtwo to speak.
'Where am I?' Came the thoughts of what used to be the young boy.
"You are Mewtwo." Dr. Fuji answered him gently.
"Who are you?"
"I am the one who gave you a new life to live." He answered.
"Gave me life?" The thoughts questioned. "Are you my creator?"
"In a sense Mewtwo."
"I see." The thoughts trailed off. "How long have I been in existence?"
"I have been monitoring your vital functions since your first sleep for about 4 years now. You are about 9 years old according to documentation from your age before the transformation."
"What was I before?"
"You were a human boy."
"And why have I been changed?"
"Because you needed a new lease on life that gave you a chance to show others you are strong."
"Show others I am strong?"
"Yes. You had a past of horrendous proportions. I gave you the chance to start anew away from that horrendous start."
"I feel...as if we had this conversation before..."
"Every time you are awake for a bit my son."
"Why do I forget?"
"The changes to your body includes your brain. In the beginning you remembered everything and opened up to me about your past but the past year I come here to remind you every week on who you are. You'll remember things for a week before the changes happen again and you forget. I will help you every time until you are ready to emerge from your slumber."
"I am tired once more..."
"Sleep well then my son."
"Thank you, Father."
Dr. Fuji took off the helmet and watched as the brainwaves calmed to more stable levels and sat back in the chair he was in. He knew time was close for Mewtwo to come out and be in the world and by his calculations it will be in just a few short years hopefully before his superior gets impatient and tries something dangerous. He looked at the clock once more before standing up from the chair, rolling it over to the desk and paging the scientists to come back in before taking the brain wave monitoring printout from a few moments prior and shredding it just as he had all the previous times.
