Chapter 3
"What happened?" The woman, Nurse Joy, asked looking around. "Where am I? How did I get here?"
"I brought you here." Mewtwo said gaining her attention. "Your knowledge of Pokémon was very helpful for my plans. I have erased all knowledge of your time here by releasing you."
"Who are you?" The dark skinned male demanded.
"I am the one who will be the proving to all your human minds that I am the strongest Pokémon in the world."
"Your not a Pokémon !" Yelled a boy with navy blue hair, pale skin, grey eyes, and an orange jumpsuit on that had 3 poke balls attached to each pant leg.
"You're just a bully!" the red head claimed.
"You humans could never understand." Mewtwo said. "All you do is destroy and take what does not belong to you. I am merely claiming it back as is my right to do so. The storm I created will see to the destruction of all humans after this tournament."
"So you will destroy humans to save Pokémon?" The dark skinned male asked.
Mewtwo thought for a minute as he regarded his answer carefully. He needed these trainers to become angry at him in order to prove their worth to him. "No. Pokémon of this world are just as good as slaves to you humans. They are just as disgraceful as humans."
A yellow mouse Pokémon with long pointed ears tipped with black, shining brown eyes, two red dots on its cheeks, two brown stripes on its back, and a lightning bolt tail that had brown on the base of it hopped down from the shoulders of the trainer that interested him most and Mewtwo took in the appearance of the trainer for a moment. He had long black spiked hair that was covered by a red and white baseball cap with a green half triangle on the front of it, tan skin, determined chocolate brown eyes with z shaped marks on each cheek right under the eyes, green fingerless gloves on each hand, a blank shirt with a blue short sleeve jacket that had white on the collar and sleeves, blue jeans on, and a green backpack on.
"Pika! Pika, pi pika!" The yellow Pokémon said determinedly.
"You say this human you are with does not treat you like a slave but a friend?" Mewtwo said.
"Pi." The Pokémon nodded.
"Then you are just as pathetic." He picks up the Pokémon with psychic and tosses him back in the direction of the water fountain but the black haired boy caught it and hugged it to his chest.
"You alright Pikachu?" The boy asked the Pokémon to which it nodded while the red head and dark skinned one with Nurse Joy went to check on them.
"Are you alright Ash?" The red head asked kneeling down by the two.
"Yeah." The boy, Ash, then glared at Mewtwo. "Don't pick on Pikachu!"
Mewtwo assessed the boy quietly marking down notes about his attitude in his own head. Suddenly a yell from the orange jumpsuit wearing trainer caught his attention. "If you're a Pokémon, then there is no reason that I cannot have you captured to end this madness!" he yelled. "Go Rhyhorn!" A grey armored Pokémon with a sharp horn on the end of its nose, a armored sail going down its back, two claws on each of its four feet, and two red/brown eyes ran at Mewtwo but he caught it easily with psychic before tossing it away making it land on the table and sliding all the way to the end. "Rhyhorn!" The boy yelled running to the downed Pokémon.
"Fools. None of your Pokémon are strong enough to beat me." Mewtwo said lowering his paw from the psychic toss he did.
"Then you wouldn't mind proving it in a real match!" Ash yelled at Mewtwo making him smirk.
"Is that a challenge boy?"
"You bet it is!"
Mewtwo nodded and used his powers to lower the wall next to them revealing a stadium. He concentrated a little more and released the three cloned Pokémon that were down in the lab and patiently waited for them as he went to one end of the stadium and the trainers went to the other end. Soon the three clones were in position behind him and he called forth the Pokémon to reveal themselves one at a time.
"Like you, I began with the three starters this region had to offer. Only I used their evolved forms and used the genetic material to make them more powerful than their predecessors." Mewtwo said. "First is Charizard." An 8 foot tall dragon like Pokémon emerged from the darkness revealing that it had red markings over the overall orange scales that covered its body, orange wings with a blue interior coloring, a cream colored belly, two horns on top of its head, light blue eyes, two arms with three clawed fingers on the end, three claws on its feet, and a long tail tipped with a large flame. "Venusaur." A blue scaled quadrupedal Pokémon with light blue scales scattered all over its body, a wide mouth with two pointed teeth on the upper jaw and four on the lower, small pointed ears, red eyes, three claws on each of its four feet, and a large pink and white spotted flower on its back supported by a brown trunk surrounded by green foliage. "And Blastoise." A large blue bipedal turtle-like Pokémon with a large brown shell covering most of its body the front cream colored, two cannons on top of the shell right above the shoulders, two little pointed ears on its head, small brown eyes, a cream colored lower jaw, thick arms with three claw tipped paws, its feet had three claws on each foot, and had a thick stubby tail. "These are my starters and more powerful copies than your original Pokémon ever could be."
"Copies?" The bulky boy said.
"Their clones!" The dark skinned one exclaimed. "You had this planned all along! You intend for them to fail!"
Mewtwo said nothing but smirked at how perceptive the dark skinned human was. "Well your fake Venusaur won't beat my real one!" The orange jumpsuit boy yelled. "Right Bruteroot?!" Behind the boy a regular Venusaur roared out its name in agreement.
"We'll blow away that fake Blastoise won't we Shellshocker?" A girl yelled out to a Blastoise for the first time since Mewtwo came down. She had shoulder length brown hair that flailed out to the sides a bit, pale skin, green eyes, a purple with dark purple side striped hip length tank top shirt with a white collar, light yellow pants, a white bracelet on her left wrist, and a shrunken Pokéball around her neck on a chain.
Mewtwo turned his attention away from the girl as she didn't seem to remarkable to him and watched as the trainer Ash held a Pokéball in his hand. "He may not have a name but I do have Charizard!" He threw up his Pokéball and released a strong looking Charizard but right away, Mewtwo could tell that this Charizard was wanting more challenging battles than what his trainer could give him and once the Charizard spotted him he let loose a strong flamethrower. "Charizard!" Ash gulped in complete embarrassment. "I didn't say start."
Mewtwo merely put up a barrier and let the flamethrower die out before lowering it. "Your Charizard is poorly trained." He said and watched as the Charizard blew a little ball of fire to the side in disbelief at what he had said. "Now, which of you will battle me first?" He asked.
"I will!" The boy in orange said. "I'm Corey and I'm going to take you down!" He let his own Venusaur stalk forward. "I underestimated you once but I won't again!"
"Then let us begin." Mewtwo said signaling for his own Venusaur to walk forward.
"Bruteroot, razor leaf!" The boy, Corey, yelled out. The Venusaur roared its understanding and let loose several glowing green sharp leaves and sot it towards Mewtwo's Venusaur.
"Vine whip." Mewtwo calmly stated watching as his cloned Pokémon let out two thick vines from under the foliage and just flicked the razor leaf's away before wrapping the vines around the Venusaur and throwing it out of the stadium lines knocking it out.
"Bruteroot!" Corey yelled running to the downed Pokémon.
"My turn!" The girl with short brown hair said stepping into the stadium lines with her Blastoise taking position in front of her. "I'm Neesha and I will defeat you with Shellshocker!" Mewtwo had his clone Blastoise switch places with the Venusaur. "Shellshocker, hydro pump!" Shellshocker did as told but was caught off guard when the Blastoise he was facing tucked in its body into its shell and sailed through the air in fast spinning motions before colliding with Shellshocker and tossing him out of the stadium lines as well.
Mewtwo recalled his Blastoise and watched the final trainer closely. "You better forfeit Ash!" The redhead told him as she stood next to the dark skinned male and Nurse Joy. "The clones are just too powerful!"
"I'm not giving up Misty." Ash told the redhead. "You and Brock just watch, we'll prove to this Pokémon that we are strong."
Mewtwo nodded to his Charizard and it took to the field at the same time Ash's Charizard did. "Prepare to be defeated." Mewtwo said.
Ash gritted his teeth and called out to his Charizard, "Win it by speed Charizard! Catch it off guard in the air!"
The two Charizard's looked into each other's blue eyes and took off the ground into the air. They seemed to be dancing in the night sky as they blew flamethrowers, slammed, and bit each other in the air until finally, the clone charizard took Ash's Charizard and body slammed him into the ground before retreating back in front of Mewtwo. ""Your Charizard is finished." He stated calmly.
Ash ran to his Charizard as it amazingly tried to stay up but collapsed in exhaustion after just a few short seconds. "Charizard!" He dropped to his knees by his Charizard's head.
"You have lost the battle and now I will claim my prize." Mewtwo summoned special floating Pokéballs and sent them forward while saying, "Your Pokémon!"
All at once chaos ensued as the trainers Pokémon were captured in his special Pokéballs before flying to revealed hidden openings that led to the lab below and Mewtwo watched as the humans all tried fruitlessly to save them to no avail. "I know!" Ash exclaimed as he pulled out two Pokéballs. "I'll just return them! He can't get our Pokémon if their already in their Pokéballs!" As he said this he threw his two Pokéballs towards a tiny blue turtle Pokémon with a shell, a curled up tail, and brown eyes and towards a little green quadruped Pokémon that had a pink flower bulb on its back surrounded by green leaves. As the Pokéballs hit the two they disappeared in a flash of red light and the Pokéballs returned to Ash's hands. He smiled triumphantly as he held the two Pokéballs.
Mewtwo narrowed his eyes. "A useless effort." He said as his own Pokéballs just captured the ones in Ash's hands. All around, Pokémon were captured and taken away as trainers tried to save them only to fail time and time again. Soon, he watched as the Pikachu that was with Ash ran away from a multitude of the Pokéballs Mewtwo made and went up the spiral stairs to try and escape capture. Ash soon followed behind running up the stairs as fast as he could to help his Pikachu but just as he reached halfway up, his Pikachu fell off the stairs and as it passed Ash, he jumped off after it trying to reach him him with his arms outstretched but a Pokéball captured it first and Ash, with a bit of luck, caught that Pokéball before crashing into the water that surrounded the stairs.
Ash soon emerged from the water and followed the singular floating Pokéball to one of the secret openings and slid into it just as the opening was sealing shut. Mewtwo sighed as turned back to the ones in front of him to see the trainers before him glaring at him in anger. "Why?" The dark skinned one, Brock, asked. "Why do this? Why not just take over the world and spare the people here the embarrassment of loosing?"
Mewtwo regarded him closely as Misty stood there with sorrow in her eyes at the devastation before her. "It is because I needed to be proven to. You humans either want Pokémon for battles or to use for your own selfish needs. I have yet to see anything greater from you but I will be sparing your lives for now." Mewtwo turned away from them showing his dismissal of the conversation but in his mind he was at odds. While he did all this for a purpose, he truly did see the wrong in it yet he had to continue in order to find the one worthy of showing him what truly happened here and to show him that everyone deserved a chance. Suddenly a great explosion erupted at the wall beside Mewtwo and he looked quickly over only to see the cloned Pokémon walk out from the smoke and joined him on his side of the field. There were so many clones and they all looked like they were ready to do battle. "These clones will help me take the world and the storm shall wipe out all those who oppose me!"
"You can't do this." A voice from all the smoke arose and Mewtwo turned to the smoke only to see Ash arise from the smoke and behind him were all the original Pokémon that were taken. "I won't let you." He said as he stood on the opposite side of the field facing Mewtwo.
"It's Ash!" Misty exclaimed happily.
"Alright Ash!" Brock said just as happily.
"It's useless to try and challenge one such as me." Mewtwo said.
"It won't end like this Mewtwo!" He turned his hat backwards and rushed at Mewtwo quickly.
"Ash don't!" Brock yelled but the warning came too late and once Ash was close enough, Mewtwo erected a barrier and deflected the punch the young boy threw his way and tossed him back slightly only for Ash to get up once more and rush at him again but this time, when Mewtwo held him and tossed him away, he aimed a bit too high and towards a high structure of the stadium. Suddenly, a pink bubble appeared and safely stopped Ash from crashing headlong into the curved concrete pillar.
"What?" Mewtwo said in surprise before spotting the pink floating Pokémon he only saw in a mural. The cat was tiny, no bigger than a starter Pokémon, it was pink all over with stubby front arms, long powerful looking back legs, big crystal blue eyes, and a long tail with a bulbous end. It was almost showing off to Ash up in the air as it popped the bubble the boy was on making him land hard on the pillar roof and Mewtwo immediately started feeling angry. "Can it be?" He murmured to himself as he watched the Pokémon create another bubble and bounce on it. Not willing to waste anymore time, Mewtwo created a shadow ball and threw the dark energy that crackled with electricity at the Pokémon, popping the bubble but missing it entirely. Annoyed he sent another and another only for the irritating thing to teleport and avoid every single one.
"What is that?" Misty asked.
"I don't know." Brock answered.
"Mew." Mewtwo said gaining everyone's attention as he focused on the little Pokémon that continued to float around almost playfully in the air. "So you are my DNA creator."
"Mew and Mewtwo?" Corey wondered out loud.
"So Mewtwo was created from Mew." Neesha said.
Mew looked around the stadium in curiosity as the people and Pokémon stared at it. "You are the most powerful Pokémon?" Mewtwo asked getting angry once more. "Well then, there isn't enough room in the world for two most powerful!" He then chased after Mew and watched as it dodged and weaved every which way to avoid his attacks. "Why do you flee from me? Are you afraid to find out which of us is greater?" Mewtwo asked pausing in his attacks before continuing on. Soon though. He found a shot and took aim, hitting Mew in the face and into the clouds. He smirked in success before his eyes widened and a shadow ball came from the sky, hitting him in the abdomen and making him crash into the stadium stairs harshly. "So you do have some fight in you." He said as he climbed out of the rubble and floated to the stadium floor once more. "But enough of these games. I will challenge my Pokémon against the original Pokémon and you against I so, who will win? Will it be my genetically altered Pokémon or your pathetic inferior Pokémon?"
Mew then started to speak to him in her native language. "All these Pokémon are living beings! We don't have to fight in order to prove who gets to live here on the earth! There's a lot more than special powers! True strength comes from inside! Why can you not see that?" She pleaded.
"My clones do not need powers to prove their worth!" Mewtwo yelled. "I will block all their extra abilities to match those of the original! We will see then who is truly superior then!" Mewtwo then commands his army to charge forth as he rushed at Mew and started his battle with her once more. As he fought, all he could thing about were how everything started to get ruined. How he would never be able to see humans more that creatures who only strived to be selfish. How he would never be able to gain the trust he needed to reveal his true origins. How his future will never matter other than being used for human purposes in which he had no say in. Finally he collided with Mew in spheres of pure psychic and fell down to the stadium together causing a huge blast knocking all the other Pokémon back before they separated and charged up their powers once more.
Faintly, Mewtwo heard the voice of the boy Ash yelling for them to stop but too far gone was he in his anger and despair did he pay attention to it and released his attack at the same time as Mew noticing too late that Ash had ran in between the two, getting caught in the middle of the blasts while yelling out in pain. Mewtwo fell back slightly in pure disbelief and horror as he watched the boy slowly float to the ground surrounded by a brilliant white light, his Pikachu rushing forward quickly in order to check upon his trainer. "Fool!" He said. "Trying to stop our battle!"
Mew just observed the happenings around her but Mewtwo solely focused on Ash as his body finally settled onto the floor and just as Pikachu reached him he turned to solid stone. There was no sounds from the other Pokémon and nothing from the humans as they all focused on the scene of what just happened in the middle of the stadium floor. "Pika pi." The Pikachu said shaking the stone body of Ash from the back but gained no reaction before running in to the front. "Pikachu." He whimpered as he shook Ash's body again before stepping back and letting loose a thunder shock onto Ash's body hoping it would wake him. He did it over and over as the humans started to deny what was going on and the Pokémon from all around started to shed tears. As the tears flowed and the cries of everyone intensified, Mewtwo felt something flow through the air making all the tears start to flow to Ash's still body. He looked around wildly at the feel trying to pinpoint its source noting that Mew was doing the same so it wasn't her and so he calmed just a bit and concentrated on the power flowing through the air. As he did he saw a stream of pure white power flowing from his own chest into the boy on the ground influencing all the tears of sadness to hold the power to recover him. He opened his eyes once more and as the tears stopped, Ash's body starting to glow brightly, illuminating the whole stadium. "Pika pi." Pikachu whimpered as his tears joined the others.
As they fell, Ash grew brighter and brighter until the light settled down and Ash groaned in slight pain. "Pikachu?" He asked confusingly as he lifted his head and immediately Pikachu hopped onto him making Ash sit up to hold him.
"Pika pi!" Pikachu squealed in complete and utter happiness.
"The human sacrificed himself for these Pokémon even though I pitted them against each other." Mewtwo observed.
"Do you see now Mewtwo?" Mew asked. "Humans can be caring of Pokémon as well and not want anything else."
"I have always known that Mew." He said quietly, his anger at her completely gone. "I just needed them to prove it to me so that I can reveal my most precious secret to the ones who are worthy."
Mew looked at Mewtwo in confusion. "Secret?"
"My secret to my true creation and into your clone. You are welcome to stay to find out more." Mewtwo said before floating down to the Pikachu and Ash hoping of what he will be revealing to them will be worth it and not dooming him to more heartache. He owed his father to try and cooperate with the humans who prove themselves worthy but he was still hesitant to try anything this revealing or extensive to total strangers who could still prove to turn their backs on him and treat him as low as dirt and turn him once more into a slave for human bidding. He hoped that this Ash would prove different and that he would prove to Mewtwo that he was the most trusted human in the world.
