Chapter 10

Rose reluctantly opened her eyes, so did Scorpius. The experience was kind of nauseating, as if they were sucked from one place to another. But they didn't end up on their backs like that morning, in fact they remained standing just as how they were before Scorpius touched the basin.

They noticed they were in some sort of a large hallway, with bricks and limestone for walls. It wasn't like the mansion they came from, the place lacked the luxurious decor and finish. It could resemble more the inside of a castle, a medieval fortress. It looked more imposing and quite historical. Like the historic castle on the Tower of London where Scorpius promised to bring her again.

Scorpius pointed upwards, and she was surprised to see that there were floating candles up above. Outside they could see a vast meadow and over the horizon tall looming trees that could be a forest. They were definitely in a different place and everything seemed like a dream.

They started walking, sedately, trying not to catch the attention of anyone. Even if it proved the place looks empty. The finally entered another hallway, this time with numerous portraits mounted on both sides. Life size armoured knights placed at ever alcove, some have banners in them. They recognized the colors red and gold, others have coat of arms of a snake in silver and green. The rest were in different colors, and in one had a large letter H on it. They were right to think it was a castle.

They took a left at another corner, hoping to see something else interesting. But what froze them suddenly on the spot was the sound of laughter. And at the end of hall they could see a woman in an emerald dress running towards them. Her curly mahogany hair bouncing in the air, and her effervescent smile was spirited and full of like. The woman was beautiful, even more so because she is glowing. But there was no mistaking, Rose knew right away who she is.

"Mum…" Her voice whispered in awe, her eyes watering from the surprise. But even if she had screamed the lady wouldn't have noticed her. They were caught off guard suddenly when she didn't look like she was going to stop and Scorpius had to react fast to get out of her way.

Yet, not fast enough. As their mother's form went pass through him as if he was an invisible ghost she could not see. Scorpius and Rose stood in shock, but was not given the chance to react whatsoever as another voice echoed through the halls. This time a male's voice.

"Have you forgotten I'm a seeker love! You really think you can outrun me!" A man walking in long strides had his hands in his pocket, his face in an amused smirk. It really was uncanny how he looked so much like Scorpius, or rather how Scorpius looked like him. There was no denying that was Scorpius' dad. The two sprung apart, ready to evade the incoming person. They've just watched their parents break into a run, laughter and joy resounding all around them.

Scorpius and Rose had a final look at each other before they too broke into a run to follow them.

Scorpius sounded out of breath but still couldn't help but crack a joke. "I told you we're Jedi's." He said.

"What?" she chortled a laugh, thinking he's gone barmy.

"They're both wearing robes you see!" Their parent's laughter affected them as well, and they've matched the joy seen on their parents faces.

After some minute they've ended up outside the castle. During running after them, Rose looked back to take a great look of the outside. The castle was massive, with towering turetts all over, one tower was standing out the most being the tallest structure connected to the castle walls. She had a sudden thought that could have transported during the medieval times, but that would be too ridiculous. Her Mum was born in the 70's and not during King Arthur's reign.

They settled to a minor jog as they were approaching a great big lake. Their parents were panting beside one of the largest tree and the two settled among its roots, his Dad's back to the tree while their Mum settled between his legs. Rose and Scorp settled just a few feet away from them, sitting on a fallen log.

It was heartwarming to see that they're very much in love. Their Dad was whispering sweet nothings to their Mum, she kept swatting at him and blushing at whatever he was whispering. It was suppose to be awkward for children to see such an intimate moment of their parents, but the sight was truly lovely. And Scorpius was just glad that his Dad loved his Mum. His Aunt has never mentioned his Mother, and the only thing he has of her was a necklace. Which ended up wrong in a sense, since his necklace was a partner of his Mother's.

Rose and Scorp let their parents enjoy their moment as they too watched the break of dusk. The setting sun was casting an orange and blue hue over the lake and it was the most picturesque scene both has ever seen.

When they thought all of them found some peace, they were broken by a frantic voice and rampaging set of feet. Scorpius grew alarmed, but Rose just saw her Dad sneered in annoyance rather than tense in defense.

A man in almost the same dark robes their Dad was wearing ambled towards them. "Hermione!" The strange man called, to which their Mum just laughed at.

"Leave us alone Potter!" Their Dad said, but the man just shook his head and crouched beside them completely ruining their previous mood. Their Mum looked at him with fond amused eyes unlike their Dad, and the two teens found them quite comical.

"What is it Harry?"

Rose suddenly noticed the man, Harry, was wearing the same pair of glasses her Mum left in her box. Scorpius thought so too, "Harry Potter? Could he be the HJP?" He asked her. Rose wasn't quite sure but it was the most obvious clue.

"You have to hide me! I'm no good at disillusionment!" Their Dad snorted, agreeing with the man. Their parents made no move, and even continued ignoring the poor man. Draco resumed kissing Hermione's neck and soon the two become amorous again. Harry looked disgusted at them and made gagging sound beside them. Still, the man had himself crouched down beside them as the two paid him no mind.

"Harry James Potter!" A voice suddenly shrieked and the man - Harry, had the most panicked look on his self. "Hermione please!" He whispered his pleas and even kneeled before them giving Hermione his most innocent puppy eyed look. Draco, their dad, was telling him to go away to go confront his own witch because he was busy with his own. Rose mouthed 'witch' to that and the other teen just shrugged. Scorp is still convinced they're Jedi's.

Hermione must have finally took pity on her friend, and in a swish of her hand a stick was suddenly brandished on her left hand. Their Mum tap the head of their friend, and to the teen's both surprise the man suddenly disappeared their very own eyes. Scorp was scrubbing at his eyes to make sure he was seeing is real, and Rose was gaping like a fish.

"Oh you two!" A redheaded woman joined them, unlike their parents and Mr. Potter, she was wearing some kind of uniform, her arms and legs donned in leather hide attire and she had a broom with her. "Have you seen that prat?!" She asked them, and Hermione just shrugged indifferently to her. Draco was covering half her face in an attempt to hide them, because it seems they're mother is an awful liar and has started snickering on her own.

"I have no intention to ruin my day with your husband's face Weaselette." Their Dad goaded, Rose was starting to understand he was an easily irritated man. The redhead tried peaking at their Mum's face, but Hermione just shook her head and kept her mouth shut.

All four of them, and probably the invisible man too, breathe a sigh of relief when the 'Weaselette' finally turned around. But the two teens were shocked once more, when she mounted on the broom and flew away from them. Scorpius fell over the log in shock and scrambled once more to sit down and save his dignity. It didn't matter anyway Rose was too stunned to laugh at his sorry arse.

Neither noticed but their parents were cuddling once more, Draco now more fervent in kissing his witch and Hermione was returning just as much. Until Draco howled in pain, as an invisible force started kicking at his shin. He cursed the invisible man, as Hermione laughed at their idiocy. She then pointed the same stick probably at the invisible guy, and Harry Potter appeared once more.

"Will you two cut that out!" Harry grumbled. The two paid him no head again, to immersed with each other. Harry had to kick Draco again in the shin which emitted a series of curses from the guy. Hermione looked on the two as they've started bickering.

When Harry was about to tackle Draco, Hermione decided to end their childish squabble. With a swish of her wand an invisible force stopped Harry's advances, his head hit first the invisible force shield which made him look like as if he's hit a wall. Draco was hiding behind a snickering Hermione while he made face towards the poor guy.

"You two are ridiculous." Harry accused, finally exhausted from running away from the red head and squabbling with his friend. He plopped down beside them as Draco settled Hermione once more on his lap, making her comfortable. "Thank Merlin they'll have me for a godfather eh?" He smirked at them, picking at the grass underneath him. "Ain't that right little ones, I'll be the better role model than your shameless folks." Draco scoffed at him but had smirked as well.

"Better wizard too than you ferret!" Draco triggered by his friend proceeded to assault his friend again, this time with his wand and Hermione was deposited quite clumsily on the ground as the two wizards chase after one another. Hermione was laughing at them, while she caressed her barely there bump. Whispering how ridiculous both their Dad and godfather is and it would be over her dead body if her two angels listen to them.

"I think this is a memory." Rose observed. Scorp held her hand once more to convey his feelings. It didn't matter that their parents were Jedi's, all that he needed to know was that they were happy before they died.

Though none of them voiced it, but they have vowed already in their hearts, promising each other that they will find out what happened to their parents. Scorp held her hand tightly as the sun descended and world around them turned darker.

… … …

The scene changed abruptly, in a filter of whirling smoke they've transported back to the manor. They were probably in Master's suite, both they're parents running around the room. They're dad was waving his stick around as items like clothes, books and small glass bottles float thru the air into several trunks like that of their Mums in the attic.

Hermione was on a study, occupied by writing furiously into a ledger. Her slip of a night wear was slipping over her shoulder and Draco slowly put back her strap and putting a shawl over her as he kissed her neck. The previous aura has changed, and Rose could feel the tension in the air. Hermione had a worried look on her face but Draco kept his soft, as he kissed her once more this time in her mouth.

Scorp went around the room observing the items they were packing and looking over their Mum's ledger. She was writing a recipe perhaps, or maybe a plan or operation. Nothing were written in letters he's familiar with, in fact they seemed like symbols instead of your ordinary English letters. He tapped Rose to ask her if they were familiar to her but she just shrugged her shoulders. There were a lot of scribbles on the side and the only word he could make out was the word 'Veil'.

Their parents were getting quite amorous and Scorp was starting to get traumatized, he was sending her an alarmed look which made her shake her head. Thankfully, a cry has stopped them before they got too promiscuous. Their Dad crossed the room and returned with two babes on both his arm. The boy was fast asleep and Hermione relieved Draco of a younger Scorpius.

Little Rose remained on her father's arms as she was being lulled back to sleep. Perhaps even at that age she could read people's emotions and have picked up on their parents' distress.

Hermione put Scorpius down on the large master's bed and had no problem cuddling among the sheets. She then joined her husband and daughter in a silent dance until Rose's hiccups turned into snores. The three remained cuddled, Draco swaying back and forth the light from the fireplace illuminating their faces softly.

When little Rose finally went back to sleep, Draco placed her on the bed. The twins cuddled automatically against each other, always finding solace in their proximity. Their dad gave them soft kisses in the forehead before joining his wife once more near the fireplace.

Hermione was trying hard to keep her emotions at bay, breathing in and out slowly. Draco stood behind her and hugged her from behing, resuming their sway of the bodies. When Hermione twisted in Draco's arm, she cupped his face tenderly. However their moment was interrupted by a bright white light.

A great white stag galloped in the room circling the toddlers first before ambling in front of their parents. Hermione held back a sob by covering her mouth, and their father looked severely grave. Draco took out his wand and pointed it at their king bed, a sudden dome surrounded the twins. And on his signal the great stag suddenly spoke.

The twins heard Harry Potter's voice. "Hermione…" Just hearing his voice their mother almost collapsed on her feet and Draco held her steady. "Can I take a rain check on the twins' flying lesson." Harry's voice was rough, and he could be heard coughing and struggling to speak. "It looks like Draco has to step up in my position. But is a'right…" Hermione started sobbing.

"Don't tell him this but he's a good flyer too… I'm just better." Harry's broken laugh pierced their hearts even that of the older twins. The stag was starting to blur, it's bright light slowly dimming.

"I love you Hermione. You're the only family I have… You and the twins, and that annoying husband of yours too." Harry said as his voice started weaking too. Tears were freely flowing their mother's face and Draco pulled her down on the floor. The two sat in front of the stag, as it walk closer to them, it's face just inches apart Hermione's.

"I know you'll take good care of them Draco. You always do…" And the stag vanish in a flutter of light, enveloping the room in darkness once more. Hermione screamed in anguish and Draco cried with her. Before the last of the stag's light completely diminish, Draco brandished his wand and an silvery animal erupted from his wand. Hermione shakily did the same too, and two sets of Otter were swimming in front of them.

"Till we meet again brother." Draco said to his silver animal, while Hermione whispered I love you's to her. The mated otters swam out towards the window, the couple hoping it would reach him in time.

Hermione wailed as Draco rocked her back and forth. While the little twins remained soundly sleeping on the bed, protected by their father's shimmering dome.

Scorpius and Rose was transported once more, and the scene was familiar to Rose. They were inside a large ship, Hermione had Scorpius in her arms while Draco was helping Rose walk around the deck.

"I don't know if I can do this." Hermione addressed Draco. Worry clear on her eyes.

"They're twins Draco. Their blood connects them. Their magic will always call to them."She tried to argue with him, but Draco was remained determined with his decision.

"They will be safer this way."

The scene changed once more and they are now in an atrium similar to the one with the pedestal in it. The entire floor and walls are in onyx marble tiles and instead of the pedestal there was a large arch in the middle. There were natant lights floating inside the arch, like soft flowing river or a fluttering sheer curtain. Rose was hypnotized by its movement just as Scorp had been when looking at the pedestal before.

The twins felt the ground shake as they see their parents enter the atrium. Draco closed the door with magic and his wand drew intricate symbols all over the walls and doors. Perhaps a protection charm for them. Their younger selves were clearly not with them anymore, and Rose could feel that whatever magic is showing them these memories they were about to end.

Hermione started drawing symbols on the floor with a sand from a phylactery as she slowly says an encantation. The previous ledger was wide open beside her and she looks over it each time she draws another pattern.

"Love you have to hurry up." Draco said from the door, his body strained from keeping something (or maybe someone) from entering the atrium.

Hermione didn't bother answering him and instead focused herself to her own task. She drew many symbols encased in circle around the entire arch. Each circular symbol glowing after every enchantment she made. And when she was finally drawing the last circle, the symbol in it looked like a dragon protecting it's rose, like Scorpius' necklace.

"Draco it's done!" She shouted. Draco ran towards her and the two stood before the dais near the archway. She took out an athame from a beaded bag and sliced her left hand diagonally, their Dad following suit. Together their parents whispered latin incantations over and over.

When the atrium door exploded into tiny chunks of debris, none of them stopped. Scorpius saw a menacing green light thrown at them but the circular enchantments ricocheted the spell returning it into its caster. A series of more frightening lights tried to attack them but they all fizzeld out. Until a great red spell penetrated their defense, as an insane witch cackle at her success. More men in dark robes with silver masks entered the room attacking more aggressively. One spell caught their mother's leg and Draco almost stopped but Hermione held on to his hand tighter and screamed the incantation, never stopping their or backing down.

Scorpius could see they were surrounded and the spells was starting to destroy the atrium. He was afraid that with a few more spells it would start to cave in. But his attention suddenly wavered, because a dark figure finally emerged from the shadows.

Twin red eyes were looking right pass them and straight to their parents. Most of the men in robes stopped their assault, and the crazed witch was skipping around the room throwing one more spell after the other.

The monster, for that is what truly is, raised his hand. A white bone wand pointed at their parents, and a spell at the tip of his tongue. Scorpius wanted to jump in front of their parents, trying to protect them.

But even before the monstrous man could say a word. Their mother shouted from her place. "You will never win Tom!" And with a last drop of blood from their parents hand, the arch brightened almost blindingly. All the men, women and scary creature light up as well. But none as bright as their parents. When it seems that the world was burning, the arch absorbed all the light out.

And in an explosion of colors, all the light around them ignited like fire flaming up, until the last bright light from their parents bodies were sucked out. The atrium started caving in, and the structure was failing.

In a bang, the twins were thrown out from the atrium, and out of the stone pedestal. Their bodies flying out of the room, and landed them back into the grand room, their arses aching from the fall. Scorpius and Rose tried to get their bearings and was groaning from the beating they've got from being thrown from one room into another.

Scorp saw the hidden door sealed shut and started to rise from his position. Rose was already kneeling beside him and were patting herself for any damage. They were both disoriented, but the sudden foreign voice made their souls jump from their body. Both sprung upright looking at the newcomer.

"My, my, you two have grown." A polished feminine voice said.

"Oh my god…" Rose started, eyes wide at the stranger. "Is it talking to us?"

"Oh my, Lyra you aren't you just lovely as your mother. And you Scorpius, you look just like my Draco." The woman said admiringly. Her smile warm and sweet.

"Yep. I think it is." Scorp said, just as stunned as her sister. "Who… who are you?" He then addressed the lady.

"Well. I'am Narcissa Malfoy. Your grandmother." The beautiful lady said from the portrait, looking more lively than before their trip to memory lane.

Scorpius didn't know how to answer the lady, instead Rose asked her. "Are you stuck in the painting?"

Narcissa laughed delightedly at her grandchildren and turned her full body at them. Her previous pose long gone. "Oh no dear." She started. "Free now actually. Thanks to the two of you!"

"Uhm welcome?" Scorp tried to say.

"Now. Get your bums off the floor and let us start restoring magic, shall we?" She said bossily, looking too pleased with herself. The twins clambered from their position and stood before her.

Rose looked at Scorpius, their hazel and silver eyes meeting, looking just as tenacious as their parents before. Determined to save their parents… and magic of course. Well Scorpius is still convinced it's the force and he can't wait to wear a robe.

... ... ...

Fin.
