A lonely Knight wandered through the abandoned wastes of a once overpopulated town. The buildings around him had been long deserted, struggling just to stay upright. Few had already failed the test of time, crumbling to dusty pieces and scattering around the plain. They had traveled this path once before, though the memories had been long lost to them. Their slightly tattered cloak flowed freely in the frigid wind, revealing dark stubs that they called legs. Their head a sharp contrast to the gloomy shadows of the ruins, it glinted in the small light the Lumiflies provided. On this skull were two blank eyes, expressing no emotion, only an emotionless stare. On their back was a cracked nail, which they had been carrying for who knows how long. It was near breaking point, but something told them that they wouldn't need it for much longer. They held their blank expression as they approached a steep cliff, leading to a path far below. For any other bug, the fall would be fatal. It would kill them before they even hit the floor, leaving them a bloody mess at the bottom… They didn't seem to mind.
They stepped back, bending their legs slightly, preparing for their fall.

A human child, well known to many, strode through the forest on the famous "Death Mountain" The trees above them whispered in the wind, as if telling them to head back. As if telling them to spare themselves, to which she ignored.
This is the place you go to if you want to vanish. Others in school had always talked about it, when they were supposed to be learning things to help them in the future.
"Have you heard? Another kid vanished while trying to get to the top of Mount Ebott!"
"Of course I've heard, they were trying to prove that the mountain wasn't cursed… right?"
"Mhm. I heard that six kids have vanished now."
Soon, it would be seven.
The child had always been hard to tell apart in a crowd. Their gender neutral expression made them uninteresting, their clothes had always seemed dull compared to others. The only thing that made her slightly unique was that they were considered "Gender Fluid."
Looking back, they couldn't even see their little hometown now.
Good, they thought. Maybe now I'll vani-
Before they could finish their thought, the ground in front of them vanished. Their head whipped back forward, just to see that there was a giant hole in front of them. They screamed, reaching for the vines hanging down the sides of the hole…
...Of course, they were just out of reach now, their fingers feeling the ends of the vines. The screams continued as they fell into the darkness.

Both beings fell at the exact same time, at the exact same speed. Soon, both were also descending in complete darkness, both equipped with weapons that would keep them alive in their worlds… At least, until they found better weapons.
Suddenly, a little red heart appeared in front of the Vessel.
Suddenly, a little black charm appeared in front of the Child.
Both reached for these new things, holding them in their hands to investigate the new items. The colors shifted, the red turning to maroon, then to void black. The Black turning to blood red, then bright Determined red.
The child landed on their feet, temporarily paralyzed from the long fall.
The Vessel fell unconscious, landing on their back in a bed of golden flowers.
