Frisk approached the doorway to the next room, hand gripping her wooden sword… Err, Nail, tightly. Chara had said that she heard snoring from inside, and knew that this thing would be in the way. Caution was needed, as neither child knew what lay inside. Holding the Nail in front of her, she slowly entered the room.

A Large bug lay at the other side, round and fat, with tiny wings flapping lazily on their back. Their eyes were closed, but they were no different from the others; Large, and lifeless looking. A large nose hung from the bottom of their face.

[ It kind of looks like the things we saw earlier. ]

Frisk nodded as they walked to the thing. They could nearly mistake it for a corpse, if their breathing weren't so easy to see. It was clear that this thing's life was tied to the door that was keeping them from progressing, so they had to destroy it. Without hesitation, Frisk held the Nail above their head, and sent a powerful blow down to the thing's head. Now, let the battle begin!

It woke up quickly, dazed by the sudden awakening. It's confusion allowed Frisk to attack with a few heavy blows before the thing finally realized it was in danger. It panicked as it lifted off and flew, to the surprise of the two humans.

[ …According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way that thing should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground- ]

Frisk tried their best to ignore their partners rambling as they attacked it's stomach, jumping up to get a final hit as it went out of range. It turned around and dove at them, causing both to jump out of the way as it hit the ground. It, much too quickly, got back up and flew to the roof.

Wash, Rinse, and Repeat. Each time the bug crashed down, Frisk would just jump out of the way and continue the assault. Each cut made them slower, their blood starting to drip down from the mere amount of cuts they had gained.

Another Slash.

Another dive.

Rinse and repeat.

Frisk slid back from one of their attacks, a little farther than normal. This gave the Gruz Mother a chance, a golden opportunity to deal damage. They quickly slammed their body into the intruder, making them falter and stumble back.

[You'd better not die to this oversized fly-]

a final aggravated stab to the head made chara swallow their next words.

Finally, the thing gave up. Frisk let out a silent sigh as the bug's wings stopped flapping, and the thing stopped struggling. Moments after it took its last breath, geo spilled out of the corpse.

[Do you know what these weird rocks are? We keep finding them everywhere, but there's nothing we can really do with them… Why are you picking them up, Frisk? You know that gross thing right there was just holding on to them, right?]

Chara pointed at the corpse, causing Frisk's attention to drift to it. Their corpse was large, the orange they once held in their eyes completely vanishing from sight. Their wings hung limply from their back, as did their nose from their face-

Frisk jumped back, immediately reaching for their nail. The Thing… It was moving! Had they not killed it? Did they know how to play dead-? Was this some sort of second phase?

Before they could come up with an answer on their own, the body began to shake harder, it's stomach shaking the most. They watched as the body split from the inside, and an eruption of tiny winged creatures came up. Soon, they had swarmed the room, the newborns flying around haphazardly around the room. Their attacks were just bumping into others, which had little effect on Frisk. But when they were all gathered up like this…

Chara watched as Frisk struggled, unamused. Did they feel nothing of this place, not one thing? Not a call to go deeper, not a sense that something was needing their attention? They just wanted to fight, while she herself wanted to explore. How she wished she had a body at this point, it would make life so much easier. She wouldn't have to follow them everywhere, they could go deeper while this other human wasted time grinding for Geo.

Grinding…

She sighed as Frisk approached, covered in orange blood. They would have to wash their clothes, somehow. The two progressed through the door opposite of their entrance, coming across a small town right underneath the Gruz Mother's tiny arena. The residents looked dead, inside and outside, stumbling around as if they didn't know how to move their own bodies. However… They didn't have orange anywhere on them. They looked fine, which was surprising with how many orange bugs were around there. She wandered past them, staying out of their way in case they didn't like her intruding on their homes. While walking through, they discovered a house that didn't look as dark as the others. There was a light coming from inside, A light unlike the light they had seen coming from the Orange goop they found around the place. Without hesitation, Frisk headed inside against Chara's pleas.
