Prologue:

Symbiosis.

"That was when everything changed…"

The sky burned with a red-orange tint as the sun set giving way to night.

"I was just a naïve boy when it happened…"

The night gave way for the moon to illuminate the Earth.

"It came from the sky…"

But tonight something else lit up the sky.

"And changed everything…"

A red trail was drawn across the heavens as a meteorite fell to Earth.

"Eren! You'll understand the truth someday, if you visit the basement! It will be a harsh, painful journey… But you must reach it! If you want to save Mikasa, Armin, and everyone else… You must learn to control this ability!"

Grisha Yeager could only cry as he injected his son with the titan serum. He knew what he was forcing upon his son, a life full of pain and suffering. The difficulties and trials his son would be forced to go through in order to prevail would undoubtedly scar the boy, but this was his only option. This was the only way!

His tears only increased as Eren screamed in pain, Grisha snapped his eyes close and turned his head away as he pushed more of the serum into Eren's bloodstream. 'Carla, Mikasa forgive me… Eren, I'm sorry I had to do this to you, but this is the only way for us to survive!'

Pulling the needle out of Eren's arm he could only watch as a sudden flash of light enveloped his son. When the light receded all that was left was a monster, a titan. A deep sigh was released from Grisha's lips as if he was truly relieved of some great task. Eren, or the pure titan he had now become, snatched Grisha up within its tight grasp. Grisha felt his body weakening under the immense pressure of his son's titan grip.

The man looked upon his son turned titan as acceptance coloured his eyes. He was ready as he continued to look into the eyes of the titan that would consume him. 'My work is complete, at long last I can rest.' Even before the thought was complete the barely four metre titan had closed its jaws around Grisha's frail body and snapped it in half.

The four metre titan that Eren had become consumed his father, unknowingly setting the man's plans into effect. The titan collapsed to the ground as Eren emerged from the steaming titan corpse. However that wasn't the worst the boy would have to endure by the time the night was over.

Keith Sadies was a man of many regrets. He once believed himself to be "chosen" for greatness, however that idea came crashing down with the countless failures he suffered as the Commander of the Survey Corps. However he knew who was truly "chosen" and that was Grisha Yeager. The man had single-handedly stopped a disease from killing hundreds and had made medical advances that no one else ever had.

So when he saw a flash of light strike where Grisha had taken his son Eren, his heart stopped in panic as he feared for the man's life. 'Grisha has to live! Even if all my life amounts to failure at least I'll be able to help someone who can make a difference.' The balding man quickly rushed into the forest in the direction Grisha had taken earlier.

As he stumbled through the forest until he heard a loud noise that sounded like it was coming from above. Looking up his eyes widened as an object struck the earth with incredible power! The former Commander of the Scouts was thrown off his feet and forced onto his back as dust blanketed the entire area making it impossible to see two metres in any direction.

'What in the Walls was that?!' The thought as he grunted, trying to sit up but he had difficulty doing so due to the shock that rattled throughout his body from being thrown to the ground so forcefully. Keith squinted his eyes in hopes to stop dust from getting into his eyes, he tried to get a visual on what had caused such a disturbance.

'Is it titans?' The man pondered to himself as he slowly got to his feet and took an uneasy step forward towards the impact zone. 'No it can't be, titans couldn't have made it through Wall Rose. At least not this soon after Maria fell.'

Keith continued pacing forward cautiously, he didn't know what was happening but his curiosity was getting the better of him. 'Once a Scout, always a Scout.' He figured that was why he couldn't say no to a situation like this, he wanted to discover the unknown but then again who didn't?

"Argggggggg!" Keith's eyes shot open as he heard the screams of a child a few hundred metres ahead of him.

"Eren?! Grisha?!" Keith shouted, there was no response only the continued screams of what he figured to be Eren. 'What's happening?! Why is Eren screaming?'

Not wasting any more time he threw his previous caution to the wind and rushed forward towards the source of the pain filled screams. The closer Keith got, the more blood chilling those cries became. Had whatever caused the impact hit the boy? 'No, he would have been dead.' Keith was hundreds of metres away and it knocked him onto his back and caused him some damage, to be at the heart of the impact would be far worse.

The dust was beginning to lift as Keith reached the impact zone, the object had shattered. 'Some sort of stone?' The balding brown haired soldier stood at the top of a massive crater that spanned a great amount of area. Trees that had previously stood there were totally obliterated and all that remained was the shattered remains of the stone and the massive hole.

Keith heard another burst of screams from… 'Down in the crater?!' Keith jolted into action and slid down the side of the crater and headed towards the source of the scream. 'Come on Yeager, where are you?' Keith couldn't see as steam now replaced the dust and made seeing around him just as difficult if not more so than before. 'It's boiling down here.' The man thought as placed his hand on one the many large remains of the stone and gasped in pain as he snatched his hand back.

'It burned me?!' Never before had Keith seen anything like this, 'Stones falling for the sky? What in the Walls is happening?' Moving around the debris to avoid burning himself again he heard a pained groan this time, looking down Keith saw the outline of a body.

"Eren?" There was no reply as Keith bent down and examined the body, he was right in thinking it was Eren. The boy lay there, his clothes in tatters but his body looked unharmed. 'How is this possible, did he fall down here?' The former Commander of the Scouts shook his head, it wasn't time for these sorts of thoughts. His sense of duty took priority and Keith wrapped his arms under the young black haired boy and was shocked at how cold his skin felt.

'How can he be this cold in a place like this?' Keith was very confused but he knew that he would get no answers by standing about, he quickly carried Eren out of the crater noticing that the dust had all but cleared. Setting Eren down he wiped his brow of sweat, 'That thing must have come from the sky which then resulted in it getting hot. But nothing like this has ever happened before.'

Keith turned his gaze unto Eren who shivered… No he was withering in pain. Keith understood the difference, 'What happened to you Eren? And where is Grisha?' Keith would never get the answer to either of those questions. After a couple of minutes of searching for any sign of Grisha, Keith sighed deeply before he lifted Eren and returned him to the shelter where he and Grisha had originally found him.

Before leaving he gave Eren one last fleeting glance from over his shoulder and whispered two words.

"Good luck."

-April 845-

It had been two months since the fall of Wall Maria, refugees flooded into Wall Rose looking for safety and shelter from the titan hordes. The situation was bleak. Food reserves were gone within a couple of weeks in an attempt to feed the large horde of refugees. Morale was low as well, but it was nothing compared to what one Mikasa Ackerman was going through.

Eren and her had barely made it out of Shiganshina alive. Eren's mother, Carla Yeager was eaten right before their eyes. They could do nothing but watch the gruesome sight helplessly as they were carried to safety by Hannes, a family friend and member of the Garrison Regiment.

A couple of days passed and while morale was low between them Eren had stayed strong for Armin and her as he vowed to kill all the titans and stop disasters like the fall of Wall Maria from ever happening again. Mikasa knew he did it as a way of dealing with his grief but also as a sense of responsibility due to being the oldest of their group, having two years on both Mikasa and Armin.

But that too was cut short as they awoke one morning to Eren's pain filled cries. They couldn't wake him as he was entranced with pain. Mikasa was beyond worried and quickly hauled Eren up onto her back and carried him to the other side of the massive district of Trost where the closest clinic was situated.

It had been two months since then. While Mikasa didn't want to leave Eren's side even for a second she was forced to go to the fields in order to provide what little food they could get, Armin and herself worked tirelessly in the fields while Eren suffered in a clinic bed.

The doctor didn't know what to make of Eren's condition. He was cold at the touch, more like freezing. If Eren didn't constantly twist and turn in pain it wouldn't be far-fetched to describe him as a corpse, however Eren was alive and in pain.

In those two months he had undergone changes that the doctor explained to be due to his long term bedridden state. Eren's hair darkened from its once light and vibrant oak brown to a far darker shade of brown if not black. His skin paled considerably as well, gone was his tan and now left pale complexion similar to Mikasa's own. All these changes worried Mikasa but the last one more so than the rest, that change was the drastic weight loss. While the doctors claimed that all Eren had lost was his remaining baby fat, seeing the last person you consider family lose weight so quickly doesn't do anything health for your mind.

That was exactly what it did for Mikasa, when she finished her shift in the field she would rush to Eren's side and wouldn't leave. The staff at the clinic had long since given up trying to force her to leave. She would sit at his bedside and hold his hand tightly within her own, while Armin was around her would remain strong but as soon as he left she would break down and cry.

She would endlessly cry for Eren to come back, praying to anything that would listen to give Eren back to her. Over the weeks her strength both physically and mentally withered away till there was nothing left. She had become a zombie as she stopped talking altogether, she went out in the mornings and completed her work shift then returned to Eren, held his hand and just stared at him. Her eyes lifeless, her body never moving.

It took a toll on her as her body thinned from a lack of food, she was sluggish from a lack of sleep as well. But she couldn't stop, her life was empty without Eren. He was all she had left and if he wasn't there then she had nothing to live for.

Just like every night Mikasa sat in her chair that was situated right beside Eren, who had laid in the same bed for the past two months. It killed Mikasa to see the once strong and defiant Eren now reduced to this. A boy who withered in pain, he had stopped crying long ago. The doctor had said that he probably couldn't anymore. Instead he grit his teeth harshly to show the apparent pain he was enduring.

The black haired girl had pulled her scarf up to cover her lower face long ago as she held onto Eren's cold limp hand within her own hands. She stared blankly at the wall opposite her as she tried to stay awake but her eyes continued to force themselves close, but Mikasa refused to let herself rest while Eren was suffering.

Her lifeless storm grey eyes gazed down to Eren's face, his pale complexion disturbed her. It didn't look like him anymore as if she were looking at someone different, that along with his weight loss that made his facial features look even more defined. She wished he would open his eyes, she missed those bright emerald eyes that comforted her when she looked into them.

Mikasa took a hand away from Eren's to brush his hair lightly, his hair was soaked with sweat as she listened to his harsh breaths. Her eyes saddened as she continued to watch him struggle to cope with the pain that had cursed him.

'What happened to you Eren?' Tears began to well up in the corners of her eyes, she hated crying but she couldn't help herself when seeing the once vibrant boy now bedridden. A tear ran down her cheek and dripped onto Eren's hand, Mikasa squeezed her eyes shut as two more tears fell from her eyes and clashed with Eren's pale hand.

"Eren please wake up… I need you." The quiet whimper of Mikasa's voice was barely audible as she brought Eren's hand up to her face and held it against her cheek wishing that he would hold it there of his own will instead of her. She continued to cry until she exhausted herself and fell asleep, her head laid on top of Eren's midsection.

"Eren! You'll understand the truth someday, if you visit the basement! It will be a harsh, painful journey… But you must reach it! If you want to save Mikasa, Armin, and everyone else… You must learn to control this ability!"

The boy in question could only stare as his father injected him with some strange liquid that he wouldn't explain. He had begged, cried that his father would explain what was going on and why he was receiving an injection. But the man wouldn't answer him as tears trailed down his face, he'd never seen his father this way and it made him cry as well. Until the overwhelming pain from the injected liquid took over. Then he screamed.

Eren gasped as he emerged from the steaming carcass, his eyes heavy showing that he was almost ready to drop from exhaustion. "Dad…" The dark haired boy's eyes became too heavy for him to deal with as they closed against his will.

Eren screamed as his eyes shot open at breakneck speeds, his entire body was mangled. Something had stuck the earth in the same area as Eren, his teary eyes looked down at himself as he tried to lift himself from the ground.

He couldn't lift himself. His eyes finally got a good look and he was astonished to find his left arm and legs were gone… 'Gone!' Steam erupted from what was left of his body, the pain was unbearable as Eren felt life leave his body. His vision darkened considerably, 'Am I going to die?!' His panicked mind raced to find answers.

As his vision fully darkened he felt his body going cold. Freezing in fact. 'But I have to kill all the titans… I have to see the outside world!' His mind began to go blank. Eren went unconscious as his body was enwrapped in a cold feeling, "I want to live…"

"And live you shall. Eren Yeager."

Eren's eyes hadn't closed. Instead he'd been covered in an alien black amorphous matter. It encompassed him completely before it extended outwards and appeared to create replacement limbs for the ones he had just lost. The amorphous matter stretched out showing that it held no true form or structure, as it formed roughly shaped appendages before becoming more refined and identical to the appendages lost moments ago.

After creating the replacement limbs the matter seemed to sink beneath Eren's skin leaving the boy lying there. All limbs attached like he never lost any to begin with. The steam that once emerged from Eren's body had long disappeared after the black matter had covered the boy.

"The power I granted the world has been corrupted by the empires of man. No more. You, Eren Yeager will be my champion and bring down the false kings of this world. You will retake what I gifted and use it to bring about the end of tyranny."

For the past two months Eren had been living out that memory. While he did dream of his family, his mom, dad and Mikasa and all the memories he had of them. The main thing he saw was that memory of the night when he… ate his father. It was the night he turned into a titan and consumed his father and then he changed. He couldn't describe it but after consuming his father he felt a power flowing through his veins like no other.

But then something else happened, he couldn't remember that part. But when he remembered seeing himself without any limbs, he'd lost the entirety of his legs and parts of his arms. His clothes were in shreds and all around him was rubble, most notably was steam. It covered the whole area around him.

The next thing he knew it was dark, he thought he was going to die as the world darkened around him. A cold sensation covered him or what was left of him, he was certain he was going to die. His father was a doctor so he knew that after sustaining the damage he did it wouldn't be surprising if he did.

The last thing he remembered was his dream of seeing the sea with Armin and Mikasa then he heard a voice. That voice. It was different than any other voice he ever heard, it was powerful. It said a great many things but he only remembered one line…

"And live you shall. Eren Yeager."

After that he was engulfed in pain. Something foreign to his body invaded and was forcing changes that his body was struggling to cope with. The pain he felt was immense, his whole body was burning and freezing at the same time. He heard voices that weren't his own crying and screaming for it to stop.

He didn't understand whose voices they were but he recognised one of them to be his father's. Grisha Yeager's voice became the easiest one for Eren to hear, the man who had helped bring him into the world was suffering painfully like he himself. They all cried together until their voices vanished, all that remained was Eren's cries.

Eventually Eren couldn't cry, his voice had given out on him so now he grit his teeth. The pain hadn't subsided but became easier to cope with as time went on. The only thing Eren could do was envision his family and all the memories he had of them, it was the only thing that stopped him from going insane.

Inside of Eren a war was taking place. Two forces opposed each other. One was like fire, a truly mindless beast much like titans. The other, like ice. It was cold and methodical. These unnatural forces clashed against one another for dominance within Eren's body. Both originating from the same entity, but each had their own goals that they would influence upon their host. Whichever force came out on top would not only change Eren forever, but change the whole course of humanity forever as well.

"Eren please wake up… I need you."

'Mikasa… I have to help… Mikasa…' Emerald eyes slowly drifted open as they awoke from a long slumber. Eren was drifting. He couldn't move his body; it wouldn't respond to him at all. From what he could see through his barely parted eyelids were two creatures.

They both stood on seemingly nothing. Eren couldn't see the ground, any walls or a roof. It was like there was nothing at all that represented an environment, however the two creatures stood just fine and didn't drift like he was. Eren found himself floating above the two creatures but he couldn't move. He turned his attention to the two creatures in hopes of understanding what was happening, his lazy sleep filled eyes glanced to the taller creature of the left.

The creature stood fifteen metres tall and was undoubtedly a titan in Eren's opinion. While that titan had the regular human coloured skin as all the other titans, this titan had distinct abnormalities that regular titans didn't have. To begin with was its muscular build that set it apart from most regular titans, it also had a lipless mouth so its teeth were in clear view and even those were different as they sat on two different levels. Along with that it had long oak brown hair and shining white eyes that Eren had never seen the likes of before.

By merely gazing upon the creature Eren's mind was assaulted with hundreds of memories that weren't his own. He couldn't decipher most of them but he was able to pick out and recognise some of his father's memories, however as soon as he caught a glimpse at those memories they were gone and he was none the wiser from what he witnessed.

Drawing his eyes away from the titan creature, Eren's gaze fell upon the second creature that stood opposite the first. It was vastly different to the first. It stood only eight metres tall being dwarfed by the first creature. What caught Eren's eye was its strange appearance. It had a similar muscular build like the titan opposite it however the creature was totally black with what appeared to be white veins adorning its upper body besides its head.

The second creature lacked many of the features that the titan mimicked from humans. It had no mouth, hair, nose or ears. It only possessed eyes and they were far from normal. They were demonic if anything. They were hollow white circles that when looked into would reveal death. Eren shivered just looking at the eyes of the creature.

The two creatures were merely staring at one another, none moving from their positions, however it was clear to Eren that the titan-like creature was holding back from rushing the other creature. The rage he felt off the titan creature was immense, he found himself lost within it. It was just sheer hatred, it wasn't directed at anything but Eren knew that if anything opposed it then that hatred would have a target.

The other creature was motionless, it didn't breathe like the titan. Eren couldn't feel anything off the creature; it merely stood its ground as it stared at the opposing creature. This definitely bothered the titan as it growled angrily warming the motionless creature to back off. It didn't.

Eren could only watch as the titan howled loudly before rushing at the smaller creature, its powerful legs closing the large distance in very little time at all. Once upon the smaller creature it attempted to stomp on the black creature, rearing its foot up before bringing it back down with enormous power.

To both Eren's shock the titan was launched back across the void. The titan was back on its feet in seconds and back in front of the opposing creature. The titan went for a punch this time. Swinging its fist, it connected but not with the veiny creature but instead with what appeared to be a shield of some sorts.

Eren was amazed, the smaller creature was able to firstly throw the far larger titan across the void but then to block another attack with a shield that it created out of its own arm. Eren had never seen anything like it before.

The titan screamed in pain as its fist shattered on impact with the shield, the titan swung its head back as it roared before swinging its other fist towards the creature. The smaller creature swatted the striking arm away with an impressive display of strength, deflecting the blow and leaving the titan's guard open.

The smaller creature converted its left arm from a shield to a spear and impaled the titan's chest on the left side, the spear was directed straight towards the heart of the creature. The spear easily pierced through the titan's flesh and Eren saw the spear exit through the titan's back. With strength that didn't seem possible the smaller creature threw the titan back forcing the larger creature off its arm turned spear.

Steam erupted from the titan's carcass, directly from the gaping wound on the titan's chest. Eren was shocked as he watched the wound slowly start to close up. His mind flashed with an image of his body erupting with steam after losing his limbs. 'Did I inherit titan abilities?' The boy's young mind started to work rapidly as he remembered the memory that he had been shown over and over again.

'I-I turned into a titan... And ate dad…' The boy stared at the collapsed body of the titan in shock as the realisation of what he had done became clear. He felt sick as he struggled to take in breath. 'I came out of the titan body then I was hit by something, I lost all my limbs and steam came out of my wounds.' Eren realised that whatever his father had done to him it had turned him into a titan, and allowing him to use their abilities. Another memory sprung to mind, of what his father had told him before injecting him..

"Eren! You'll understand the truth someday, if you visit the basement! It will be a harsh, painful journey...but you must reach it! If you want to save Mikasa, Armin, and everyone else...you must learn to control this ability!"

'He told me to learn to control this ability! And they must be similar to the titans.' Eren gazed back at the titan on the ground watching as the large wound continued to close up. Opposite the titan stood the other creature, it hadn't moved an inch. It watched the titan blankly as if just seeing it with zero emotion.

'What is that thing then?' The thought brought more memories to mind, however these memories weren't ones he recognised. Eren's head ached as he was assaulted by the memories that he hadn't experienced himself, he tried to massage his head with his hands however he still found himself unable to move. Eren hissed in pain as he was forced to see memories he didn't own.

A meteor rocketed towards the earth, as it plummeted it broke apart ensuing major damage to the forest below. When it struck the earth shook and the meteor shattered causing debris to destroy more of the forest around the impact zone. At the centre of the crater that held the remains of the meteorite. Most of the meteorite had become debris that scattered across the earth when it had struck.

At the centre of the debris lay something different. An alien matter, different from any other the world had ever seen. It moved about, through the debris as if searching. It was quick, almost desperate in motion. It climbed and scuttled about the debris until a moan of pain was heard. It was faint but still audible.

As if it was possessed the strange entity locked onto the source of the moan of pain and rushed to its location. Its desperate movements amplified as it scurried across the dirt and debris. Finally it came to the source of the sound. Eren Yeager.

Eren's body was nearly unrecognisable. His arms were stumps and his legs were gone entirely. His clothing had been torn and dirtied, his skin was very much the same. Yet despite the horrific injuries Eren had survived as his chest briefly rose and fell. However he wouldn't last much longer, the extent of his injuries had taken too much of a toll on his young body and not even his newly acquired abilities could save him.

The boneless, sludge like entity seemed to observe Eren's mangled body for no more than a second before it launched into action once again. It began at the young boy's bottom and started to cover and spread across his body, next was his stomach and chest, then it reached out for the stumps his arms had been reduced to and finally wrapped up and around his head leaving his face open. That was the last to be covered.

Eren opened his eyes as a cold feeling overtook his body. A darkness began to cover his eyes as he felt life drain out of his body. His mind could only think one thing. One wish. One plea as his face was completely covered in the dark alien matter.

"I want to live…"

Eren gazed upon the small black creature that had white veins covering its upper chest and part of its back. The creature stared back. 'I understand.' Eren looked into the eyes of the creature, those white hollow eyes. Before he had seen death but now he saw meaning behind them, those eyes meant death to anyone or anything that tried to separate it from him.

'You want to be with me.' The creature inclined its head, its eyes never leaving Eren's own. 'Does that mean you'll help me?' Another incline of the head. Eren breathed deeply, he didn't know what was happening but he would launch head first into it like he always had.

'Alright then. I accept your help.'

The creature snapped its head away from Eren and glared at the titan that had finally healed, the titan got to its feet and roared at its enemy. Rushing forward the titan clasped its hands together preparing for another attack. Bringing its hands up above its head it gave one final cry before swinging at the small veiny creature.

Eren was astonished as the titan's attack was blocked. The small creature had firstly blocked the attack by catching the titan's wrists within its tight grip, but it didn't stop there. Next the creature's hands lost form and wrapped around the titan's hands by covering it in its strange matter similarly to how it covered Eren himself.

It didn't stop though, it kept spreading out and covering more and more of the titan's body. The titan in response roared and tried to break free of the smaller creature's grip, but it was no use. It was stuck and couldn't break free.

Eren had to almost turn away as the titan looked him in the eye, he saw countless lives of people he'd never met screaming at him from within those shining white eyes. At the very end when the titan's head began to be covered he saw his father in those eyes, tears welled up in Eren's eyes as he felt like this was his final goodbye. In the corner of the titan's eyes a single tear had welled up and as the face was totally covered the tear fell.

'Goodbye dad.'

The smaller creature had all but disappeared as it encompassed the entirety of the titan. The covered titan shrunk as if it was being absorbed until the dark veiny creature returned taking the place of where the titan had just stood moments ago. The skin of the creature bubbled uncontrollably as it appeared to struggle to contain the other entity it had consumed but before long the bubbling stopped leaving the creature to look up at Eren once more.

'I'm sorry dad. But I refuse to use the abilities of the monsters that murdered all our friends and family!' Eren's eyes grew heavy as the long battle for dominance within his body finally concluded. 'I'll never forget you dad, and I'll go to the basement like you wanted and find out what you left for me there. I swear!' Eren's mind drifted as he gave into unconsciousness.

Light broke through the window as the sun rose above Wall Rose. The light shone its morning rays throughout the room of the clinic. One of the many rays of light radiated upon the single bed in the clinic room. The occupant of the bed moaned in annoyance as the warm bright light disturbed them from their sleep. The occupant's eyelids parted to reveal stormy grey eyes.

Mikasa was in a daze. She hadn't slept in a long time so having finally passed out from exhaustion had made her brain essentially turn off. She merely sighed and relaxed back into the bed, waiting for her brain to reboot from a long well needed sleep.

"Eren!" She shot up into a sitting position, her eyes rapidly scanned the room for any trace of him. The room was still quite dark and the only light landed on the pillow of the bed. Hearing a grunt of unpleasantness she turned her head in the direction of it.

There he stood. Mikasa's eyes widened as she took in his whole figure. He stood at the window, blocking a good portion of the light that tried to enter the clinic room. His head turned so he could see over his shoulder, his eyes. Oh how Mikasa missed them. Those Emerald eyes shone with life that made Mikasa feel like doing backflips in delight of finally seeing them again after so long.

She continued to watch him taking in everything about him. His hair had grown over the two months, of course she knew that but now she could see it. His dark mane fell past the halfway mark of his neck, while it looked greasy in appearance a quick wash would fix that problem. His skin was still pale but Mikasa was sure it would tan again once he got back out into the sunlight. Finally his face, it was far more defined. He had lost most of his remaining body fat over the course of the two months which left him thin in appearance, a good meal would soon fix him.

However during this time she wasn't the only one taking in the others appearance. Eren examined her and a number of questions sprung to mind. 'She seemed distressed when she couldn't find me. I'm obviously in a clinic so was I sick or something?' Eren looked at her appearance, 'Her hair is longer. How long have I been unconscious?'

Eren turned to fully face Mikasa, this seemed to break her from her own musings. "Eren you should be resting. You've-"

"How long have I been asleep for?" She didn't answer immediately.

The dark haired boy sighed as he ran a hand through his hair. 'Uhh, greasy. I need a wash.' He removed his hand from his hair and wiped it on his trousers. Walking towards the bed Eren sat in the chair that was positioned by the bedside.

'Knowing her, she's been at my bedside every day and night.' Taking another glance at Mikasa, she understood the glance and looked down at her hands. 'Obviously without regard for her own health.' Eren didn't understand Mikasa at times, this was one of them.

"I know I should be resting." The statement broke Mikasa's fixed gaze on her hands and brought it back to Eren. "But when I woke I saw the state you were in and let you rest, you needed it more than me. Obviously I've been resting for too long so I decided you needed some instead." Mikasa gave him a heated look, it was easy to see that she didn't approve.

"Thank you though." That stopped the glare, her eyes once again widened this time in surprise. "Thank you for caring for me." Eren repeated, he liked to be independent and to stand on his own two feet but he couldn't this time and Mikasa had helped him in any way she could so the least he could do was thank her.

Mikasa looked away again, her cheeks adorned with a slight red tint. She quickly hid beneath her scarf to save herself from embarrassment. She was saved from her embarrassment when Eren changed the topic of the conversation once more, "So how long has it been?" Mikasa hadn't noticed that he had returned to the window, his posture was one of unease.

"Two months."
