The First of his Kind

Chapter One: Super Strong

"Talking"

Thinking

"Shouting" - Emphasized Word - Jutsu

He ran as fast as he could. He wasn't being chased by an angry mob thirsty for his blood, he wasn't even being chased by the ANBU because of one of his pranks, no… young Uzumaki Naruto ran as fast as he could so he could see the thing he'd seen the day before as he trained by himself.

† Flashback †

Naruto had been training; he wanted to impress jiji with his abilities when he finally got to enter the academy. He had found a place where he'd be left alone to his own devices, and began doing…whatever came to mind at the time. One moment he was running around as fast as he could to train his speed, another he was punching and kicking air…

That went on until he heard someone grunting nearby, and being the curious kid that he was, Naruto couldn't stop himself from investigating. As he got close, he saw two adults fighting, they were exchanging blows for a while, seemingly matched in terms of strength, until they separated and began exchanging words.

"You've been lax in your training, my eternal rival!" A boisterous, but not arrogant voice spoke, displeasure clear on his tone.

"Yeah…" Was the monotone reply, seemingly uncaring from the other. He couldn't see them very well from his hiding spot, all he knew was that they seemed to be strong and were training together. "How is it you continue to grow so strong anyway?" The monotone voice asked, and Naruto perked up at that. He had been considering leaving at some point to respect their privacy, but after hearing that question he just knew he had to stay and hear the training regime of the stronger guys.

The other voice laughed joyously before responding. "I run five hundred laps around Konoha, I do five hundred push-ups, I do five hundred kicks and punches with each leg and arm, I do five hundred sit ups, all while wearing the highest amount of weight I can possibly carry!" Naruto's eyes were wide as the description finished…so much! He thought in amazement. But he was the amazing Uzumaki Naruto, future Hokage, and if one of his future subordinates could do all that, he would double that amount!

He ran off to ask jiji for training weights for his birthday. He needed those if he wanted to train properly.

† Flashback End †

He waited for a while, hiding in the same spot as he had been the day before, but no one came. He'd waited for an hour, but no one came. The boy sighed dejectedly before turning around and leaving the place. He had yet to talk to his jiji about those training weights after all.

Being the receptionist of the Hokage had its perks, for sure. She didn't need to do much, just take every new report in for his approval, take the paperwork in for him to read and sign…simple tasks to be truthful.

The more worrisome part of the job were the meetings, she had to keep track of all the meetings the Hokage would have, every hour of the day, every day. She looked at the door at that Like right now, it wasn't in the schedule but he made sure I knew he was expecting someone…she sighed and looked to the door as it opened, letting a small child in.

Sadako immediately recognized the village's troublemaker, Uzumaki Naruto. Being one of the few adults in Konoha not holding a grudge against the kid because of what he had sealed inside him, she kind of admired the young boy's perseverance. She knew of the glares, the whispers and the overpricing; she never told the Hokage because she believed such matters weren't so important as to bother the leader of the whole village with; but still he always laughed and played his pranks. Not once did she see him with a dark look on his face.

"Nee-chan! Nee-chan!" His voice brought her out of her musings and she looked at his sapphire blue eyes. "Is Jiji in?" He asked and waited for her reply, almost jumping in place with excitement.

The woman chuckled at him and nodded "Yes Naruto-kun, Hokage-sama is in right now but…" he didn't wait for the rest, for as soon as he heard that the Hokage was in his office, the blond thanked her and marched toward the door. "He's in a meeting…" she finished in a whisper. Damn brat she thought fondly as a small smile played at her lips.

"He needs to learn that it's hard work being a ninja, not something he can just do on a whim." One of the voices inside spoke as Naruto burst into his Jiji's office. All eyes turned to him, and he saw that the Hokage, upon seeing him, smiled in that warm way he would always smile when they were together.

"Hey, jiji!" He greeted enthusiastically, and walked to one of the empty chairs, jumping onto it to sit down. "I want training weights for my next birthday!" He straightforwardly asked from his jiji. He knew that being who he was, jiji would ask why he needed them in the first place but he had a very good reason already pre-programmed as an answer to that question.

"…okay, Naruto-kun." Was the simple answer, and not expecting it, Naruto launched into his explanation anyway.

"You see, it's for my training…I heard that if you do this and that while wearing training weights you'll become like super strong! Besides, you told me you started training when you were really young, and I'm six already, so I can start now, right? Pleeeeease?" He asked as he bounced on the chair in excitement of even thinking about becoming super strong like that man had said the day before.

"I said okay already, Naruto-kun." Jiji reassured him, and his eyes widened momentarily before he jumped from the chair, pumping his fist in the air and running to hug the old man, who kneeled down and met his enthusiasm with a grandfatherly calm that always eased his mind.

"Thanks, jiji! Now I need to get everything ready to start my training…see ya!" He practically skipped out of the old man's office, excited as he was. He missed the three chuckles that accompanied him and one of the older man's words, something about not even noticing them.

† Timeskip: Ten Years Later †

Naruto walked into the academy with a sigh. Not that he didn't like studying, he was the best student in the academy after all, but because he really wanted to become a ninja, and on that day was the test his jiji had programmed to check on his progress, and he was nervous because he really wanted to impress his jiji.

He walked into the classroom, only to find it empty, as per usual. He was always the first one to arrive and the last to leave, he always paid utmost attention to what his sensei was talking about and took notes of everything he thought important, which was nearly everything spoken. He walked to the back of the class, where he usually sat, because of the good view it gave him of the rest of the class, and sat down, looking around once before he pulled out a scroll form his backpack, and began reading his notes from the last class.

Nearly ten minutes later, the first arrival came into view. He had black spiky hair with a blue tint to it, with bangs that covered the sides of his face, onyx eyes and pale skin. He wore a navy-blue, high collared, short sleeve shirt and white shorts. There were arm warmers on both his forearms.

He looked over at Naruto and grunted in greeting, before getting to his own seat and…sitting. That was Uchiha Sasuke, the second best student of the academy both in the physical and in the written portions.

Soon more and more students began arriving, and Naruto lost interest after a while and turned his attention to the front of the class, waiting for Iruka-sensei to appear. He looked his attire over, and grinned, remembering how he had gotten Anko-chan to help him pick something to wear.

He wound up getting something like the ANBU clothing, the biggest difference being the coloring, whereas the ANBU variant of the uniform was a gray vest over a dark, form fitting sleeveless shirt, with gloves that went up to the elbow supporting an armguard and baggy black pants with the standard shinobi sandals…Naruto's variant showed instead a black vest over an orange, form fitting sleeveless shirt, orange gloves under black armguards, black pants and black combat boots.

The grin nearly split his face in half as he remembered the discussion over the color he wanted the shirt and gloves to be. What could he do, he liked orange. His attention was brought the front of the class as Iruka began his lecture, and Naruto began taking notes.

"Hey jiji! Uzumaki Naruto, reporting as requested!" He exclaimed as he walked into the training ground his jiji had separated for his trial. Naruto looked to the other people present at the trial, seeing a white haired man, with a face mask and the standard Jonin flak jacket on top of the standard ANBU uniform, a black haired man wearing green spandex and again the standard Jonin flak jacket, and a dark haired woman wearing a red long sleeved blouse with only one sleeve showing, over it what looked like broad bandages wrapped around her body, with rose thorns for pattern. He noted she wore bandages around her forearms and thighs.

"These are the people who are going to help me test your strength, Naruto-kun." He heard his jiji say and nodded, turning to the others with a wave of his hand.

"Heya! I'm Uzumaki Naruto, future Hokage and strongest ninja!" He chirped, which got a wave from each one in response and a chuckle from the woman. He turned once more to his jiji and paid attention to the rest of the explanation.

"Now then, Naruto-kun, here's how this is going to go. We're going to attack you simultaneously and you're going to defend yourself. Use whatever is necessary to win, but only incapacitate us, no need to go overboard okay?" He nodded, eyes wide in awe of the fact he was going to fight four super strong people at the same time. This was so cool!

"Um…Hokage-sama, all of us…at the same time? I mean…he is but a child…" He heard the female say and although he thought her pretty, he didn't like her attitude, not one bit. Jiji however just waved aside her concerns, apparently fully confident in Naruto's capabilities.

"I do believe introductions are in order. Naruto-kun, the woman that just spoke is Yuhi Kurenai, Jonin of Konoha and Genjutsu specialist who agreed to help assess your strength. Next up is Maito Gai, another of my Jonin and Taijutsu specialist. Lastly we have Hatake Kakashi, Jonin and Ninjutsu specialist." Naruto nodded at each name. After that the Hokage discarded his robes and hat, showing that he was wearing a battle attire under them.

"Begin!" The old man bellowed and at the same time, every single one of them disappeared from view, encircling the young Uzumaki. Someone threw a shuriken in his direction, and he watched, interested to see what would happen next.

"Shuriken Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!" He heard the old man shout and out of nowhere the one shuriken became hundreds upon hundreds, and Naruto couldn't help the grin that came to his face. So cool! He began picking every single one of the shuriken out of the air, and pocketing them for his own use.

"Can I keep them, jiji?" He asked, but received no response. He sighed, thinking that meant he couldn't keep them, so he began taking them out of his pockets, only to see that he only had one shuriken in there to begin with.

Next came the spandex wearing Jonin, he tried hitting Naruto with some punches and kicks but the boy just danced around the man, a grin on his face the whole time. So cool! He wondered, though, just when were they actually going to attack him at the same time like the old man said they would.

"Ne, jiji, you said you'd attack me simultaneously…when's that gonna happen?" The young Uzumaki waited for but a moment before he had to dodge blows from the three Jonin at the same time. It was just so cool he couldn't help himself; he laughed as he weaved and waved around them.

He was having so much fun with the three of them, that he forgot about jiji and out of nowhere, he felt a hit on his back by a staff, launching him through several trees of the Forest of Death. He landed near an eating Anko-chan, who looked at him quizzically.

"What are you doing in my forest, Naruto?" She asked simply, and he chuckled nervously, jiji said not to tell anyone about today so he couldn't even tell Anko-chan, no matter how much he wanted to.

"Uhmm…nothing?" Naruto heard the sounds of the others approaching and looked toward the noise. Anko-chan seemed to have heard them too because she jumped away just before he was surrounded by the Hokage and the others.

He looked into the eyes of each of them for a moment, before he jumped to his feet and decided to attack for once. Jiji had told him to fight to the best of his abilities but to only incapacitate instead of outright killing them, so he decided to tone down his fighting prowess. He launched himself toward the spandex wearing Jonin first, ignoring the startled cries that accompanied him.

"He was supposed to be in a Genjutsu right now!" He barely heard the shout of the female Jonin as he punched the spandex wearing Jonin on the stomach, before round-house kicking the man on the side of his head. He carefully measured the strength he would need not to kill the man, and whereas dodging and playing around had been fun; he found that being on the attacking end wasn't nearly as fun. The man barely reacted; he just took the hits and was now nearly unconscious on the ground.

With a sigh Naruto turned to the next target, the silver haired Jonin. He noticed that whereas before the man had his hitai-ate covering one eye, said eye was now out in the open and the Sharingan showing for all to see. He grinned at that, as the Sharingan was supposed to let the user foresee and counter the movement of the enemy, according to lessons he had about the clans from jiji.

He disappeared once again, appearing in front of the Jonin, face to face, a grin plastered on his. He head-butted the man with enough strength to send him stumbling back a few steps, and without pause helaunched a kick to his midsection, fully expecting the Jonin to catch his kick or dodge, but the kick connected, and another enemy was out for the count.

He turned his attention to the last one, seeing the shocked expression on her face and appeared in front of her, one hand raised to strike. "Do I really have to?" He asked, not really wanting to hurt the woman before him.

"Yes, Naruto….you wanted this test, you have to fight until the end." Naruto sighed and muttered an apology before bringing the raised fist down to the woman's cheek. Not really staying to watch her being sent flying, he disappeared once again and turned to the Hokage.

He'd fought jiji before, and other than the first time, where he had his ass handed to him on a silver platter, he never lost, so he knew he could win, and he was sure the old man knew it too, so he just appeared in front of the Hokage and tapped him on the forehead.

"Tag." He said simply, a bored expression on his face. It had been a huge letdown, the fight. The old man sighed and nodded, acknowledging the fight to be over.

"How was that, Naruto-kun…was it anything like you expected?" The old man asked in a kind tone, and Naruto just looked at him, the same bored expression still on his face.

"It was too easy, jiji…" He answered, dejected. There was a moment's pause before he looked down and realized something. "Ne, jiji…was I supposed to fight without my weights on? I kinda forgot to take 'em off." He heard the old man sigh and saw him shake his head.

"…I'm too old for this…follow me to my office Naruto-kun; we have a few things to discuss." And with that, without waiting for a reply, the old man just disappeared in a swirl of leaves. Naruto turned his attention to where he knew Anko-chan to be and waved to her before disappearing in a burst of speed.

Naruto got to the tower and sat on a chair, waiting for his jiji to arrive. Ever since he started practicing his chakra exercises he hadn't bothered using the door, he just climbed the tower by focusing chakra to his feet in order to stick to the walls. He looked around and saw a photo of a man that looked like he would if he let his hair grow out.

Naruto started at him for a while, knowing full well it was the Yondaime Hokage, Namikaze Minato, he was staring at. He recognized him from the pictured in the scrolls he'd read about Konoha's Kages, but that wasn't important right now, what was important, and more than a little suspicious was the fact that the man looked just like Naruto would if he let his hear grow, sans the whisker-like marks on his face.

After a moment of staring, the young man could have sworn the picture of Minato turned to him and winked, before returning to its original position.

"Ah, I see you're here already, Naruto." Jiji hadn't called him Naruto-kun, which meant whatever they were about to discuss was serious. So he turned from the picture and sat on the chair in front of the Hokage's desk.

"The reason I called you here…and I am truly sorry for not saying this sooner, has to do with your parents and the reason the people of Konoha treat you the way they do." This perked Naruto's interest, as he always wondered about his parents. The reason he was hated could be anything, he didn't much care anymore, but if his parents had abandoned him because they didn't love him or anything like that…he didn't know if he could take it.

Without realizing it, Naruto sat at the edge of the chair, leaning forward as to not miss a single detail of what was said.

"Before I tell you their names I have to tell you a little story about your parents, and why it was important that you not know about them until you grew strong enough to fend for yourself." He nodded absent-mindedly, not caring about that, he just really wanted to know if they loved him in the end, if they were alive or if they had died protecting him during the Kyuubi's rampage.

"Your mother was a…super strong" jiji chuckled at the words; words he had used quite often to describe the shinobi of Konoha; "kunoichi of Konoha, she was peerless with a sword, and her skill with seals surpassed even that of Jiraiya, the seal master. There are no records of this as she mostly operated from the shadows during the war, but her personal body count surpassed even that of the Yondaime. That did not come without its cost, however, she gathered as many enemies as admirers during that time, and for that reason, because her enemies could try and take their revenge on you, I didn't tell you about her before today."

There was a pause after that, and Naruto let it sink for a moment. So his mother was a super strong kunoichi who used per powers to help Konoha during the war, which had the effect of giving her many enemies, and that was why he couldn't learn about her, because they could target him if word got out who his mother was. Eh, not the worst explanation…I'll bite.

"But however strong your mother was, it paled in comparison to your father's prowess in combat. He could kill an entire squad of enemy ninja by himself, having created a jutsu that would later grant him the nickname Konoha's Yellow Flash." Naruto gasped at hearing that, his eyes wandering quickly to the photo on the wall he had been staring at moments before. He had his suspicion but he didn't really think he was the son of the Yondaime!

"Yes, your father was Namikaze Minato, the Yondaime Hokage of Konoha. Your mother was Uzumaki Kushina. They were both very famous during their time and asked me to only tell you of your inheritance once you reached the rank of Jonin, or when you were strong enough to fend for yourself…I believe you're strong enough, after today's little show, plus our spars during your training."

Naruto nodded, his mind whirling. He was the son of the Yondaime. The people of Konoha obviously didn't know that, or else they would never treat the son of the most beloved of Kages the way they did. Which brought his head to the second topic at hand, why was he hated in the first place? He was about to ask, but the Hokage seemed to understand what he was going to ask and began speaking before he could formulate his question.

"Now, to the other reason I wanted to speak with you…your burden. As you know, many years ago, the Kyuubi rampaged through Konoha, only stopping when Minato sacrificed himself to save Konoha. While it is true that your father sacrificed himself, he didn't kill the Kyuubi, instead sealing it away into an infant…that infant, was you." Naruto didn't know why but he saw that one coming. He looked again to the picture of his father, this time with a myriad of questions whirling inside his mind.

"Why me?" He asked simply, causing the old Hokage to sigh and shake his head.

"I honestly don't know, Naruto-kun…maybe he thought of what was best for Konoha…maybe he wanted you to have that power for whatever reason…maybe he was just out of options at the time…" Naruto didn't hear the other explanations, his mind fixating on the what's best for Konoha bit. His eyes narrowed slightly, so a Hokage had to prioritize the village over his own family? Well, it went without saying they did, but Naruto, in his childlike admiration of the post never truly thought about it, but now that he was given things to consider, about his family and about the post he'd wanted for so long…he didn't know if he truly wanted it anymore.

"I…I need time to think about it all jiji…right now I don't even know if I want to be Hokage anymore." He said simply, ignoring the fact he had interrupted the old man during a little speech he was giving about the importance of the village for a Hokage. Without waiting for a reply Naruto simply left the office, not looking back.

AN: Heya! So, in good me fashion, here's a new story! Don't worry I haven't abandoned any of my work (the ones I'm still writing that is) but the older ones I need to reread them to see where I was with them before continuing, so for now I'll focus on these newer stories. I won't promise I will stop post new stories as ideas for stories just keep bombarding my head while I write, and if I don't write them down I can't concentrate on other works...but anyway this story is going to be a counterweight to Nightmare on Konoha, where NoK is going to be dark and all things unholy, this one is going to be light-hearted and fun (hopefully)

For pairing I'm going to make this a Naruto/Anko because I really like Anko '-' will I turn it into a Harem story? Probably not, unless I'm given good reasons to do so. Will there be other pairings? Yes. Mostly Canon pairings though so nothing too crazy. But the story will mostly focus on Naruto's view of things so you won't see much of other people.

Now I have a few other story ideas in my head I plan on posting for approval, but after that I have two chapters for Nightmare on Konoha ready for posting =P so...stay tuned?

Thanks for the patience and for reading my work, love you guys 3
