The Special Child

I recently came up with this idea. Decided to write it down before I forget it. Also, what would you guys think of a Percy that destroyed the Gods? That would be another story but let me know. Anyway, onto the story. Oh, and rated M stuff will only come later.

A Man was sitting on the floor, one phrase repeating in his head like a bell, "What to do, what to do…"

For many millennia the Man had done nothing. A very boring state had fallen over him, and he was just about at his limit. Contemplating on his current situation, one fact had made itself clear to him. The Man was desperate for some action! Some drama, some...some something.

He was lacking in everything emotion wise, besides the dreadful boringness that seemed to surround him.

The Man suddenly stood, a flash of a smile was seen, then a small giggle was heard from him. Now, you could see the general silhouette of the Man. A faintly muscular figure of a little over 6' was shown, and it sounded almost as if he was being…...tickled? Another bigger giggle escaped the man. An idea had hit him, and oh how wonderful the idea was. This was going to be a big change of pace!

His continuous giggles changed, evolving into full blown laughter. Slowly, the maniacal sounding laughter died down, leaving his pearl white teeth on display in a huge smile. Oh, this was going to be so very fun

New York

August 25th

A woman was currently jogging down the street, with a bundle wrapped in her arms. The reason for the near running was understandable, due to it currently raining. As she ran, she thought of many things, but most were about the baby boy she was carrying. The most pressing of her thoughts were of the child's strange birth.

The woman, being a nurse had helped deliver him to the world, but in no way was his birth a clean one. Blood had been everywhere, on the table, stand floor and somehow even the walls. The child's mother had stayed strong until everything started going everywhere. The nurse didn't think she would ever forget the screams of that night. Shivering, the nurse looked around and realized she ran the wrong way. Damn it.

Although just an infant, the boy had almost a full mop of hair, although not on the sides yet. But it covered the top and even extended over his forehead already. The strange part was: it was multicolored. Two colors of black and white mixed together. Some were pure strands of white while other black.

Even cooler, in the woman's opinion, was the fact that some strands seemed to be both! Meaning half black half white. She had to admit his hair was awesome. The woman, in all her years as a nurse, had never seen an infant such as this one. She quickly took a second to glance at him. He seemed content, idly looking from here to there.

The woman looked up and shook her head. Another strange thing about this boy was his skin. It...changed.

Or at least she swore it did.

No one else believed her, but the woman had a keen eye. His normal skin tone seemed to be a pale tan. Not quite tan, but more like a dark beige. She noticed that whenever the infant was upset or angry, his skin would turn a dark white. It was honestly very creepy.

The strangest thing she noticed about the boy wasn't his hair, or even his skin. It was his eyes. When a baby is born, it usually takes at least a couple of months for their eyes to change from the newborn blue to their true eye color. Whether that be brown, green or perhaps stay blue.

But this strange infant. As soon as he was born, his eyes were wide open, just gazing at the world. No crying, or screaming(besides from his mother) just wonder. But the craziest part that had almost all of the hospital staff cooing and looking in shock were the child's eyes themselves

The base color seemed to be purple. A strange, deep purple. Although, when looked at closer, you could see different t colors. Shades of greens, reds, blues, browns and just about all the colors you could think of flashing by.

Another thing that seemingly only she had noticed were how his eyes changed colors. From what she could deduce, although purple, they seemed they changed with his emotions. When he was sad and crying it would flash from purple to blue every so often. That was the only change she saw, though.

The pitter patter of the rain made its presence known, dragging the woman's head out of her thoughts.

She had been with this boy for about 7 days, caring for him in the hospital and now it was now time to take him away, just as his mother requested. Weaving through the streets, she finally arrived. Soaked and thoroughly cold, she glanced at the infant. Gratitude made itself known in her heart seeing as the boy was dry. Knocking, the woman recalled the boy's mother's last moments.

Only three sentences were told in the end. "Please, keep him for a week, for safekeeping, then to the St. Mary's Orphanage. He has no family members besides me."

The nurse looked up, only now realizing she was inside and finishing talking to the headmaster of the orphanage. A charming woman of about 50, coincidentally also named Mary. Mary repeated the question the nurse had asked Sally a week ago. The nurse responded just as Sally had.

"His name is Perseus, Perseus Jackson"

Percy Jackson was mightily confused. You would be too if you were being chased by a bull-man with a serious odor problem.

This world he stumbled into...slightly worried him. Within the last couple of days he had been attacked by the fabled "Greek Monsters" and somehow had been surviving only from his wits and his sort-of friend Grover.

Who apparently was a goat-man, also known as a Satyr. Somehow, this did not surprise Percy. He had been seeing weird things since he was born. Like sometimes he'd see these old women staring at him angrily while knitting on a bench from across the street.

Like what's up with that? He didn't kill their cats or anything.

And now he was being led by Grover to a camp for "people like him". Percy really really hoped that Grover was talking about Percy himself, and not a camp full of more goat people.

Apparently, Percy learned that being the son of a god meant that monsters were flocking to him from left and right. They looked at him like he looked at cookies. It honestly kinda scared him.

Currently, it was raining hard, making the ground slick with mud, and hard to walk on. Also, they were running away from more monsters. Grover kept playing his reed pipes that somehow just appeared, trapping them in vines and such, but they always seemed to come back. C'mon monsters, just stop it.

Even through the roar of the rain, Percy easily heard Grover's chant of "We're almost there, don't worry Percy" or "Don't cry Grover, Don't cry…" Percy felt bad that Grover was going into this hyperventilated state. The satyr played another tune, making a wall of thorns slow down the monsters. But some dracanae landed a nasty hit to Grover's leg, making him release a deafening howl of pain.

Percy quickly ran over, easily picking him up and throwing him over his shoulder. "Where to, G-man?" Grover shakily raised a finger, pointing east. Percy took off in a mad dash.

G-man didn't actually stand for "Grover-man" like Grover himself thinks. Percy started calling him that after he learned he was a goat-man. Hence the name "G-man".

Goat-man. Percy was pretty linear in his thinking.

Finally, after what Percy calculated was two hours of a mix of sprinting and jogging, Grover screamed to go left. At the top was this huge pine tree. It was massive. Percy stopped and just whistled in appreciation.

Apparently, that was the wrong move as the bull-man, also known as the Minatuar, rammed into him. Somehow, his horns missed, but his head was still hard as a rock, throwing Percy and Grover a good forty feet away.

Grover kept screaming almost deliriously to "get behind the tree, it will save us". Percy then picked up Grover, and threw him a good thirty feet, perfectly behind the tree. Now, Grover was behind his precious tree.

And now, it was time for Percy to get payback for the damage done to his, now admittingly friend Grover.

Then Percy realized something. He actually didn't have a weapon to help him get his payback...This was a big problem. As the Minatuar charged at him, Percy dove out of the way, his body getting caked in mud. Not a good feeling.

Once more, the bull-man charged, and Percy dove again. This repeated multiple times, and Percy understood. Although part man, it was mostly a bull. Meaning its main attack was charging forward. Percy had a plan, and oh it was a good one.

The Minatuar charged, and Percy instead of ducking, jumped onto the beast, clinging onto one of its horns. Desperately, Percy realized something.

His plan had required a weapon. And he was currently lacking in one. Suddenly, both his hands, even the one holding his horn, felt...full. Looking at them provided Percy with a sense of shock that nearly had him falling off the Minatuar completely.

As the greek monster was thrashing, trying to throw off the boy on his back, Percy stared wide-eyed at both the blades in his hands.

Dual twin blades of a white metal. They seemed to be glowing faintly, and made Percy automatically feel confident with his situation. They were about a foot and a half in length, both sides of each looked as sharp as a knife, and even deadlier.

Percy jumped from the Minatuar, landing easily. He was going to use these, and he was going to use these good.

Out of the corner of his eye, he could now see people standing on the hill, more running toward him with a variety of spears and swords along with some bronze looking armor.

No, this was Percy's moment. Calmly looking forward, he saw the beast charging right at him. At the last second Percy jumped, but higher than before. While going up, he sliced with his left, and plunged with his right sword. The Minatuar horn flew off the monster, making it roar in fury, while the right sword completely bisected the beast in half.

Suddenly, the roar stopped, the monster turning into gold dust. As Percy landed, he felt...woozy. There was this tug on his gut he only just noticed, and it was slightly starting to hurt. Suddenly, he realized he was falling, about to face-plant in the mud. Idly, he realized he was passing out. Oh well, at least he had some fun.

Waking up, Percy felt great. No fatigue or anything. He also noticed that there was a girl there. Just staring at him. She continued to glance between his hair and eyes, then suddenly screamed, making Percy jump in the bed he was sitting on. "Chiron, he's awake!" before dashing off to gods know where. Grumbling, Percy quietly said to himself "a little warning would've been nice". He damn near peed himself from the scare she gave him.

At least she wasn't a goat person. That meant he must've reached the camp Grover and he were trying to get to.

Looking down, Percy saw he was wearing a new pair of jeans, a blazing orange shirt that said 'Camp Half-Blood' on it and some black and red Nike shoes.

Just then, another figure rolled in. The man was sitting in a wheelchair, but Percy could tell it was for show. He could smell the scent of a horse on him.

The wheelchair guy started with "Hello, my boy. You must be Perseus Jackson. Grover has told me a lot about you." Percy responded with a solemn "Not too much, I hope". Wheelchair guy looked at him strangely, then said " My name is Chiron, and I, along with others, help train demigods like you. You are at Camp Half-Blood. Safest place for demigods like you."

Percy looked at him, then sighed. He figured that's what this place was. A place to help train them. He assumed so when they went out to the real world they wouldn't die from monsters. Then something came to him. "Wait, are you THE Chiron? As in, from the myths? Also, where are my swords?" Chiron looked at him and heartily laughed. "Yes, my boy. I am the one and only Chiron. As for your swords" his tone took a more serious note "I was hoping you would be able to tell me about that."

Percy recalled what had transpired that night, and never fully remembered the end. "Can you...remind me of what happened that night? From after I...defeated the Minatuar." Chiron smiled at him. "Of course. You had stood, then suddenly fell forward, landing on your face. As soon as you fell, the swords vanished. It was strange. Then you were carried here, cleaned up and cared for by Annabeth. She was the girl who was here when you awoke."

Oh, so scary-girl had a name. "Ah, I see. Yeah sorry Sir, I don't know. I only just found those swords today. They just...appeared when I needed them." Chiron, once more, stared intently at him. "I see, well rest up my boy then I will send Luke in here." Chiron began to turn away when Percy jumped up.

"Sir, I'm perfectly fine! Look!" Then the 12 year old proceeded to jump up and down, doing push ups and all sorts of acrobatic feats. Chiron looked surprised for a second, then said "Very well, Luke will be in here shortly to show you around."

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

True to his word, Luke had shown up. Luke was a blond boy who was way taller than Percy himself. He looked 18, but could be older. 19, perhaps. Another thing was that he had this scar running across his face that kinda made his handsome looks look...not so handsome.

Luke proceeded show Percy around while explaining that Percy would be staying with his cabin for the time being. This was cause his godly parent never 'claimed' him yet, or something like that. Nothing of note had happened besides his interaction with Annabeth.

Percy and look had just been walking to the amphitheater when they ran into Annabeth. Percy said "Hey, your that Annabeth person Chiron told me about. I guess I should thank you for watching over me."

Annabeth's first sentence made Percy blush hard. "You drool when you sleep." Luke quietly snickered at that, making Annabeth faintly blush as well. "Anyway, yes my name is Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena. Nice to meet you."

Percy responded with "Likewise. Let me also formally introduce myself." Percy looked down for a second, then looked up. His face had a charming smile on it, his purple eyes flashing through colors fast, making not only Annabeth and Luke stare, but also the onlookers who started to eavesdrop on their conversation.

"Hello, my name is Perseus Jackson. No clue who my godly parent is. Pleasure to make your acquaintance." He finished it off by bowing, leg sweeping behind him. This made Annabeth lightly giggle and Luke chuckle. Percy stood with an amicable smile placed on his face.

Then, Percy stopped and went forward, stopping just shy of Annabeth's face. This shocked Annabeth so much, she didn't even move. Only her eyes widened. A couple of seconds passed, with Percy just staring into her eyes. Then she screamed and pushed him away while saying "What are you doing?!"

Percy responded with a smooth "I like your eyes. How can I get my eyes that color?" Annabeth's breath slowly returned to normal, with her responding "It's a child of Athena thing. We all have gray eyes." Percy continued to stare intently at Annabeth, when suddenly, his purple eyes started changing again. Everyone, including Annabeth and Luke gasped when his eyes landed on a storm-cloud gray.

The same color as Annabeth's eyes.

"What? What happened?" Percy said in a panic. Luke just grabbed a mirror an Aphrodite girl was using and showed Percy. Percy responded with "Awesome!" Looking at Annabeth he said "Now we're matching!" Then he closed his eyes and they returned back to normal. "Or not. Haha." Percy had a huge grin plastered on his face at the shock of everyone. "What?"

Annabeth responded with a "Do your eyes normally do that? Change colors?" Percy lightly chuckled, while rubbing the back of his head. "Yeah, I can change their color at will, but I have to know the color first. Another thing, sometimes they change on their own. They're kinda weird, but I like my eyes." Girls all around cooed when he looked in their direction.

Then someone from the now-formed crowd yelled "Did you dye your hair? Cause it looks mega cool." Percy laughed at this, causing some others to join in with how infectious it was. "No, I was born this way, but I love my hair! Although it never seems to cooperate with me." He finished with a slight scowl. This was emphasized by his messy hair style. Some people laughed at that.

The crowd then began to disperse as Luke and Percy continued their tour. Before she forgot, Annabeth quickly ran back up to the duo and said to Percy "Your horn is in Luke's cabin!" Then she dashed off.

Percy stopped. Then said, "My what?!"

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

It was now night and Percy was laying on the floor of the Hermes cabin and true enough, the Minatuar horn was laying next to him. There were some many people packed in here, he felt like he was in a can of sardines. Smelt as good as one too. Suddenly, two heads popped into his vision, twin goofy smiles on their faces. "Hiya there" "Percy!" they said, finishing each other's sentence.

Percy quickly sat up, hitting one of them in the head. "Ow!" The guy groaned, while the other twin said "This is pretty neat" While twirling the Minatuar horn around his fingers. Percy looked next to him to find the horn gone, then looked back at the twins. "Alrighty, give it back." Percy said with a no nonsense tone. The boy rubbing his head said "Fine" and handed Percy his...wallet?! How the…

"Hahaha, you should see the look on your face!" No one else seemed to be paying attention to them. "Alright, who are you guys?" Percy asked them. The boy with Percy's horn said "My name is Travis, while this idiot is Conner. We're sons of Hermes, if you couldn't tell."

Percy looked between the two with a small frown on his face. It was obvious to the twins that the boy was not in the mood to have been pranked. The twins swore they saw a flash of red in his eyes. Suddenly, even they, children of Hermes could not keep up with the speed Percy used before they were fading to unconsciousness.

Percy had enough of them, and hit them behind the neck with enough force to make them pass out. Great, now he was in a sour mood. Why? Unknown. It just fell on him. Well, "nighty night" he said to himself. Slowly, Percy proceeded to follow the twins into the realm of Morpheus.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

It was now morning breakfast, and Percy was slightly cramped between the twins and Luke. After a little while, Percy began to actually enjoy the presence of the twins. They would be good friends, Percy concluded. The place was loud but seemingly quite at the same time. Percy, concentrating, was still able to pick out everyone's individual voices.

And most of them seemed to be talking about the "newbie" or the "greenhorne". That made Percy smile. He even heard Annabeth telling her siblings about his eyes. That only made Percy's smile widen.

A gastly noise Percy realised was a voice was heard from a table a couple down from his. Apparently, based on the grunting and roughness, this was the Ares cabin's table. Meaning, the voice was of the counselor. Clarisse La Rue.

Percy definitely heard his name being said, and not in the good way. Sadly, before he was able to hear anything juicy, he was shoved by Conner telling him to go dump their food. A strange thing they did was dump their remaining food as an offering to their godly parent.

As they walked, Percy whispered to Luke "I don't know who my parent is, what do I do?" Glancing down, Percy notices Luke's hands tightening on his plate. "Just pray to any god or ask for your godly parent. It's honestly your choice."

Luke walked away, while Percy grumbled about Luke not being very helpful. As he approached, Percy slightly began to worry. Would he mess up? What if he angered a god somehow? In the end he just dumped it, praying only to the Messenger god, thanking him for allowing Percy to stay in his cabin.

As Percy was walking away, Chiron trotted his way-wait, since when did the trainer have the lower body of a horse?! He knew it! A grin flew onto Percy's face when his hunch was correct after all. "Percy, my boy. How are you enjoying camp?" To Percy, Chiron's voice sounded slightly different, but it was still Chiron. "I'm enjoying it, takes a little time to get used to, but I'm already taking a liking to this place."

Chiron blinked at the boy. Ah, so he not only understands Ancient Greek, but speaks it fluently as well? Call Chiron impressed. "Very good. May I ask a question?" Percy's response was quick "Only if I can do the same." Chirons lips pulled back in a smile as they continued walking toward the training arena. "When did you learn to talk Ancient Greek?" Percy blinked, looking at Chiron, eyes flashing colors. It seemed to the centaur that he only just realized he was speaking a different language. Percy said in English "I never learned it. I guess I somehow just...instinctively knew it"

Percy looked slightly disturbed by this. Chiron noted that his skin seemed paler than before. The trainer the decided to run a test. Speaking in Spanish, the centaur asked "Percy, you had a question for me?" Percy, blinking out of his daze responded in Spanish as well. "Yes, where is Grover? I have meant to thank him for everything he has done for me." Chiron, nodding, deduced that this must be part of his Godly side. Being able to apparently conjure swords, as well as speak different languages without apparently knowingly doing so.

Back in English, Chiron said "Well, my boy, that I can answer. He should be at the Big House. The building you awoke at." Percy looked around, noticing kids picking strawberries and making plants grow. His head told him they must be children of Demeter. "Alright, well goodbye! I'm going to see G-man!" Percy ran off while Chiron stood there, rubbing his chin. Strange child.

At the moment, Chiron could not come up with a plausible God who could be his parent. From what Grover told the old centaur, his mother had died and nothing was known of his father. This cut most of his slightly plausible God parent list down a lot. One thing was for certain. This was a special child.
