ガンダム
Phase: 1
{How do I sum up my life up to this point? Honestly, I think the best term would be easy compared to what's happening to me now. Yeah, I've had an easy life up to this point. I had my friends, my supportive, if hair-brained mother, and I had my Gunpla Championships. But all of that seems to be a lifetime of ease ago now. Because here and now, I'm about to embark on the battlefield again. Yeah, I said again. The last few months of my life have been lived like something you'd see in an Isekai anime. My name is Fumina Hoshino, I am the proud Gundam Meister and am a member of the Archangel crew of the Cosmic Era.}
{I won't bore you about how and why I came to be here from a Gunpla VR Capsule, or how I woke up in an alley in Heliopolis with friends I'd soon see as my own family, or the strange fact that I'd been de-aged to around fifteen, I'm just gonna say that since I've been here, I've probably screwed the anime up monumentally, but what the heck? Gundam Seed had a lot of unnecessary things about it. Death being the top thing on that list, but meh, I guess that's why this anime had a Military tag in the genre. Still, though...I think I really screwed up.}
January 20, 71C.E.(5 Days Before Vesalius Assault)
Fumina was jogging through the park as she had done so for the passed month in arriving in the Cosmic Era Universe. It was a habit she had gotten into after arriving in order to keep herself in shape...and to keep an eye on a certain young man that she knew would need her help in the coming days. And of course, there he sat in his favorite spot by the water under a gazebo, working tirelessly on his projects.
Once she had made herself comfortable in Heliopolis, the young Coordinator had been easy to find after finding some easy part time work as a mechanic. He was a person of habit, like she was, and she knew that he came to this spot because it was quiet, and well away from the busy streets of the Colony.
As she jogged by, unnoticed by the young man as he worked, she bounced to a stop for once. [This is dumb,] she thought to herself before slowly making her way over to him, [But...now that I'm here, and see him in person, maybe I should...]
Kira Yamato was not someone girls tended to just walk up to. No, he was not. While there were plenty of attractive girls in his class, and around the Colony, none of them seemed to have the time of day for him, which suited him just fine, really. The only girl that ever held his attention was the fiancé of Sai Argyle, whom he was friends with. It was a shame, really, because he could honestly say that he had a crush on the redheaded girl. Whenever she was around, all of his thoughts seemed to go flying out the window. All logical signs pointed to him having romantic feelings for her.
At least, that was what the hormonal teenage boy that he was thought.
Miriallia Haw, another friend of his, had introduced them not that long ago, and Kira was quite sure that he was smitten by the beautiful girl that was Flay Allster. There was just one...well, two problems that he had to contend with. One: she was unavailable considering she was to be married to his friend. It was also a fact that he was not confident enough to even think about winning her over when she had Sai. Nor would he consider hurting one of his few, and precious friends in such a way. Two:...She was blatantly and openly hostile against Coordinators. The second reason came up when the girl had had a near nervous breakdown when a known Coordinator had bumped into her on the streets.
Kira was outright terrified to know her reaction to him of all people.
[Why did Mom and Dad want me to be a Coordinator?] He asked himself for what seemed like the thousandth time. He sighed and leaned back against the column he was sitting against, looking up at the ceiling of the Colony...only to find a pair of big blue eyes staring right back at him.
"Uwah!" Kira yelped, sending papers flying everywhere as he lost his balance and toppled over. "Argh, my projects!" He scrambled to pick them up.
A giggle brought his attention back to the girl, "I'm really sorry," she said as he glanced back to her, "I didn't mean to scare you like that."
"I wasn't - !" He began angrily as he turned, but was brought to a screeching halt when he got a proper look at her. The girl, whoever she was, was a beauty. "Uh...I mean, you didn't scare me...I was just..." Kira wanted to bite his tongue for being at a loss for words.
She was just about his height, if not a little shorter. Her hair was a sandy blonde color that was tied back into a ponytail with a pink ring sitting at the back of her head. She was, and he was trying hard not to stare, he really was, highly athletically built.
The girl smiled and knelt down to help him pick up the papers he'd sent flying, "Well, I don't often hear boys yell like that when they're not scared." She said, "Still, I'm really sorry for disturbing you when you were obviously working." She looked down at one of the sheets of paper she held, "This is an operating system, isn't it?" She asked as she handed him back the ones she'd picked up.
Kira was surprised, "You could tell?"
She nodded proudly, "Uh-huh, I've been around Mobile Suits before," she said as she straightened up. "This one looks pretty advanced, though."
Kira stood and shook his head, "Not really, I was just breaking down the system of a BuCue."
"Interesting," she said, sounding intrigued, "With GINNs around, I thought that a BuCue's system would be less of a...well, that looked like something from a battleship to me." She blushed a little.
Kira smiled slightly at the girl's embarrassment, "Well, to most people, this is pretty advanced stuff, but I'm used to it from all projects that my professor dumps on me." He then frowned, "I'm sorry, but I don't think we've met before?"
The girl smiled prettily, "Not officially, but I jog by this spot all the time when I'm not working," she extended her hand, where he noticed some old grease stains that she had tried to wash off, "My name's Fumina," she said as he grasped her hand lightly, "Fumina Hoshino."
"I'm Kira Yamato," he smiled with a blush of his own, "So...why'd you decide to talk to me?"
Fumina bit her lip, "Honestly?" She asked her cheeks seeming the brighten further, "I've seen you down here a lot, but never had the guts to really say anything, but today you looked like you kind'a needed a break."
Kira blinked in confusion, "A...break?"
She nodded with a hint of a smile coming back to her face, "Yeah, you know like...grabbing a cup of coffee or something?"
Now normal teenagers would usually be over the moon when asked out on a date so bluntly. Kira on the other hand. [Huh...? Did she just...?] Fumina could almost see the gears in Kira's head grinding to a halt.
[Oh, crap, I think I overloaded his systems!] She was internally screaming at herself, [I knew that this was a bad idea! By this point he's still obsessed with that Allster brat!] Her cheeks burned as she looked down at her feet, "Or...not...if you're not interested..."
"No!" Kira yelped suddenly, "I...It's not that...I mean I am interested!"
Fumina perked up at this, "Really?" She beamed at him, "That's...that's great! I'm free around five today if you wanna meet back here?"
"Uh, yeah, that'd be fine!" Kira was smiling now, "Five it is."
"Great, I'll see you then!" The girl all but skipped back to the sidewalk to resume her jog while the young Coordinator just stood there.
It took a few minutes before the reality of what had just happened really sank in. Then, as if he thought that he'd been daydreaming, he pinched his arm. "Ow...okay, so that actually happened..." He looked down at his watch. "Ack! Three o'clock!"
To anyone that knew Kira Yamato, it was a strange sight to see the young Coordinator running anywhere. Normally Kira never hurried through anything, or to any particular place unless his parents wanted him somewhere. Bar a date with with a certain redheaded girl, a date with an actually interested girl, one that knew her way around a Mobile Suit's OS no less, was something that he would actually put more effort into.
But to see him running down the streets with his arms laden with his laptop and stacks of paper was a sight to behold.
By the time he reached his home, the young man was dripping sweat from the run, and wasted no time in tossing his projects aside before he promptly jumped into the shower, not even bothering to say hello to his parents.
"Honey," said Caridad Yamato as she continued her work in the kitchen, "Did I just see our son run through the house like a maniac?"
Her husband chuckled, "Yes, I do believe you did, Dear."
"What do you think it is," she wondered, "A girl, school, or - "
"GYAH!" KA-THUD
Haruma Yamato hid a large grin behind the newspaper he was reading, "Definitely a girl."
"Yup." Caridad giggled. "Kira? Are you alright?" She called out with slight concern.
"F-fine!" Came Kira's muted answer, "I just slipped on the soap!"
His father laughed, "This girl must be something if she's got him flying by the seat of his pants like this."
"You think it might be that Allster girl?" She asked, "I remember him telling me about her once, but I thought that she had a boyfriend already?"
"Give it a week before you ask to meet her," Haruma said, "We don't want him having a nervous breakdown, do we?"
Before she could comment, Kira came bumbling back down through the living room, his hair still damp from his quick shower, his clothes hastily thrown on, and obviously flustered far too much for his own good.
"Kira, your fly's open!" Haruma shouted before the boy nearly tripped his way out the door. The poor boy nearly fell as he tried to scoop up his shoes as well as draw up the zipper and slammed the door behind him. "On second thought, I wanna meet this girl myself." He chuckled at the sight of his son in such a state.
ガンダム
A chuckle sounded from one of Fumina's roommates as she came out of her room in her "date" clothes. "God help the poor bastard," he chuckled as the sandy blonde girl smiled at him, "Whoever he is."
Fumina snorted, "Don't be jealous, Kou, you know I was planning on asking him out sooner or later." She said, though her cheeks turned a bright pink as she adjusted the collar of her blouse. "Allenby, you don't think this is too much, do you?"
Allenby, her second roommate, came up behind her and flung her arms around her shoulders, pressing her right cheek against Fumina's left, "You look adorable, honey," she said as they looked at her image in the mirror, "But if you're asking me, what you had on earlier would've worked just right."
Fumina frowned at her, "Those were my jogging clothes." She said with a little embarrassment.
"And it showed off a lot more skin than this," the blue-haired girl giggled as she hugged her, "But don't worry, this is cute so it works, too."
Fumina plucked at her pink and white blouse, looking down at her matching skirt and sneakers, "Showing off skin's not that big of a deal when I jog, Al, but if I go on a date looking like that, what's he going to think?"
Allenby's bright and playful green eyes widened, "Hang on a minute, Honey, I thought you just wanted to get to know him," she gained a large smirk, and released her shoulders, "Come on, Fumi, we all know that you're not the type of girl to drag a guy into bed on a first date."
"Yeah," Kou grinned as he muscled his way between them, "That's Allenby's schtick."
"Uh, excuse me?!" Allenby shouted with her hands planted on her hips. "I've never had a guy in my bed, and I'll thank you very much to remember that!"
Fumina edged toward the door as one of their now famous arguments started to pick up. "Uh, see you guys later?"
"How am I supposed to remember something like that when you act so flirty all the time with any cute guy you take a shine to?" Kou asked loudly.
"Ha! You're just mad because you never got a date!"
"I've been on plenty of dates!"
"Pssh, yeah, in your dreams!"
"Jealous?"
"Hell no!"
Fumina was out the door and scurrying down the halls of their apartment building as their bickering grew louder. A smile was playing on her lips as she made it to the elevator. She was glad to know that wasn't the only one to arrive in this universe. Kou Uraki had been with her when she'd woken up, and Allenby Beardsley had been nearby before she stumbled onto them not long after that. After introducing themselves, and finding out that they'd all been, somehow, transported in the Cosmic Era, the trio had pooled their collective ideas, and decided to stick together.
Fumina had told them that she knew of the events that were to happen in the coming days, so they had all listened to her for the most part. Thankfully, the three of them had found a garage to work in that didn't ask a lot of questions about their backgrounds, and managed to survive for the month that had followed.
Kou and Allenby's attitudes, however, were always crashing in some of the strangest arguments she could ever remember. [At least it's never boring.] She thought as the doors opened up to the lobby.
"Going out already, Fumi?" Asked the receptionist, eyeing her up and down, "My goodness, I think this is the first time I've seen you gussied up like that!"
Fumina smiled at the elderly woman, "Yeah, I think I've got someone worth impressing."
The woman chuckled, "Well, then, dear, all the best of luck."
Fumina waved at her and hurried out of the building. She called a taxi at the corner of the street and enjoyed a quick ride back to the park where they were supposed to meet.

Back in the apartment, Allenby and Kou, having stopped their arguments, were going over the blueprints their friend had managed to nab. "So she's serious about the plan?" Kou asked as he looked them over, "And you're sure that the machines are there?"
Allenby nodded, "Yeah, we nearly got caught, but she managed to snag these and get out just as I," she gestured to herself, and produced a set of five photos from her vest, "Managed to take these." She tossed them onto the table where they had the plans spread out.
Kou picked up one of the pictures and smiled, "Whew, what a beauty. I'm calling dibs on the blue one." He said, "But what are we gonna do?" He asked, eyeing the other photos. "There's five of them. How are we gonna get them all out?"
Allenby sighed, "We'll need to work that out. I think that there's a large cargo ship in there somewhere that we can steal when things go south." She said, crossing her arms, "And if not, then we can just pilot the ones we can get our hands on, and come back for the others." She frowned, "God, I wanna get back in a Gundam, but the best I've seen so far is those things the ZAFT guys are using."
"They're pretty handy once you get the hang of them," Kou said, having piloted something similar back in his universe. "You think we'll ever find out why we got brought here? I mean, I was just getting out or prison when I was brought here."
"Sounds like you got a pretty good deal, then," Allenby said, "I was in a similar situation." She frowned, "But you know, I think I can get used this. I mean, sure its a little weird that ZAFT and the Earth Alliance consider themselves separate races, but - "
"That sounds too familiar to me," Kou said, remembering his time as a Federation pilot, and his battles against the Zeon forces. He shook his head, "Anyway, let's go over the layout one more time."
"Right, we'll get in by posing as workers," Allenby went on, "Kou, I already know that you've got a job there, so you're good unless you slip up."
Kou shrugged, "When have I ever done that?"
Allenby gave him a flat look, "You really want me to answer that?"

Fumina was surprised to find that, when she arrived, Kira was running to the spot they had met at before. The girl felt her heart flutter. Like herself, Kira had obviously tried to choose his clothes carefully. His clothes were dark, favoring a black jacket and pants with a purple undershirt.
[Okay, play it cool, Fumina,] she chided herself as she fought down a blush. [Not like this is that big of a deal. Kira's a nice boy...] She steeled her nerves and stepped out of the cab, letting the automated car leave her.
Kira spotted her right away and blushed brighter than her dress. She smiled at him as she stepped under the gazebo, "You really came."
Kira swallowed thickly, "I...uh, o-of course," he stammered out, sounding more nervous than she felt herself.
Fumina wanted to laugh; none of the boys she knew back in her universe were this shy aside from Yuuma Kousaka whenever Mirai Kamiki came around to cheer her old team on. She decided to take a little of the pressure off, and stepped forward to loop her arm through his, "Well, shall we go?" She lifted her purse, "If you'd like, I have a schematic of some Mobil Suit modifications I've been working on that you can look at." She held up her purse.
Kira blinked at that, "You work on Mobile Suits?" He asked, to which the girl gave him a cute, but cryptic smile. "I thought you said that you were a mechanic?"
"I am," Fumina said brightly, "I'm a very good mechanic that's worked on several large, dangerous machines." She said whilst giving him a small smug look, "You didn't believe me when I said I'd been around Mobile Suits before, did you?"
Kira blushed, "Uh, yeah, sorry, I just found it hard to believe since the only Mobile Suits around are from ZAFT." He frowned, feeling uncomfortable, "So - "
"So, either I'm lying, or I'm a member of ZAFT myself, right?" She giggled, leaning heavily on his shoulder as they crossed the street where the coffee shop was, "There's a third option, you know?"
"There is?" Kira asked as he opened the door for the girl, who nodded her thanks.
Fumina giggled again as they entered and found a spot to sit down. "Of course there is." She said, "There's always more options than what you have laid out in front of you, all you have to do is think a little harder and you'll find it."
"Well, you're certainly not a ZAFT officer," Kira smiled slightly, "I doubt any of them have hands like yours." He gestured to the rough, and grease-stained callouses on the palms of her hands beneath her fingers. "Not even EA officers have those kind of marks."
"An affogato, please," Fumina smiled to the waiter.
"That's not coffee, that's desert," Kira laughed.
Fumina smirked, "Feel free to order a cup of straight black coffee, then." She challenged.
Kira snorted, "No thanks, a caffè mocha for me."
Fumina giggled again, "See? I'm not the only one with a sweet tooth." She smiled, "Now, have you guessed the third option, yet?"
Kira hesitated, because the answer he had thought of almost sounded like a joke, even to him. "Are you...a pirate?"
Fumina's eyes went wide before she burst into hysterics. Kira couldn't find himself regretting his guess, however. He liked the sound of her laugh. "I take it that that's a no?"
She took a moment to rein herself in before she finally calmed down. "Of all things to accuse a young lady of!" She chided, attempting to sound upset, but failed to do so as Kira's smile was still wide. "Alright, I'll admit, it was a good guess, because pirates do salvage Mobile Suits when they find them, and even use them if they're in good shape, but I'm...well, I guess I'm a junk guilder."
That threw the young Coordinator, "You? A member of a junk guild?" He shook his head, "Sorry, but that's even less believable than me saying you're a pirate."
Fumina giggled as their orders came, and she happily spooned a mouthful of her affogato into her mouth with a hum of delight. "Hmm, and why do you say that?"
"W-well," he hesitated.
"Go on, I won't be offended." She smiled, "It's not easy to ruffle my feathers."
Kira hid behind a sip of his mocha, "You're too pretty for a junker." He said, refusing to meet her eyes.
Fumina's brow rose just as much as the temperature of her cheeks. "Me? Too pretty?"
"Well...yeah," Kira scratched the back of his neck bashfully, "Some of those people have wanted posters of their own, and even the women are...well, not as pretty as you are."
Now Fumina understood, "Because I'm not all scarred up, right?" She gained a nod from him as she took another spoonful. "I guess I can understand that, but believe it or not, that's the best way I can describe myself. My friends and I used to scrap stuff together all the time." It was true. She, Yuuma and Sekai Kamiki had filed down plenty of parts for their Gunpla that she could count herself as a junk guild.
She reached into her purse and pulled out a small data pad. She brought up a few modifications she knew she could bring to life in the Cosmic Era, [I wonder if this counts as a copyright thing?] She wondered briefly as she brought up a particular propulsion system.
"Let's see what you think of this." Fumina asked as she showed him the plans.
Kira's eyes nearly bugged out of his head, "Holy...this is..." He blinked for a few moments to make sure he wasn't seeing things, "This is the most advanced propulsion system I've ever seen!"
"Elegant, cost efficient, and energy friendly," Fumina smiled, sounding like a saleswoman. "Any Mobile Suit equipped with those beauties will look like a million bucks!"
Kira chuckled, and conceded defeat as he handed the device back to her, "Alright, I'm convinced. No pirate could come up with this!"
"Coming from a Coordinator, that means quite a bit." Fumina giggled, but realized her mistake a moment too late as Kira's eyes went as wide as saucers. "Er...I mean..."
"You knew?" Kira breathed out, looking spooked, "How did...?"
"Little clues," she said hurriedly, "And no, it doesn't matter to me that you are one." She said, taking a small bite of her affogato, "If it did, would we be here right now?"
Kira nodded slowly, "I guess we wouldn't, would we?"
Fumina looked at him, "I... I didn't ruin this, did I?"
"No!" Kira said a tad too loudly. "I-uh- I mean, no it's just that I don't...I don't...tell a lot of people."
Fumina smiled at him, "I'm not someone that really cares about race, skin color, or gene type." She lifted her spoon with a small amount of her affogato on it, and offered it, "Say 'ah'."
To her amusement, Kira nearly choked on his drink. He looked ready to refuse before he leaned over -
"Hey, Kira!"
He chomped down on the spoon so hard that the handle hit him on the tip of his nose. [Ouch!]
Kira had never really hated anyone as much as he hated his best friend, Tolle Koenig, at that moment. He was sure that his friend didn't mean to just barge in right then and there, but God did he want to strangle him. Of course, he had an avenging angel in the pest's girlfriend Miriallia Haw.
"Tolle!" The girl snapped and slapped the back of his head once she caught sight of Fumina, and the fact that their friend wasn't alone in the shop. Fumina had started giggling when Kira scowled at his friend, and easily reached out and took her spoon back.
"Tastes that good, eh?" She joked lightly as she spooned another bite for herself.
Tolle took note of the action and grinned. [Looks like he's actually got one hooked.]
"This is rare," Miri said as she shoved her boyfriend aside, "It's not like Kira to invite anyone out."
Kira scowled at her. He loved Miriallia like a sister at times, but sometimes she was as much of a pest as Tolle. Fumina giggled, "I don't see why," she said, "He's wonderful company."
Kira blushed and sipped his mocha, and settled in for what was most likely going to be a ruined date, and an embarrassing conversation.
ガンダム
Surprisingly, Kira was wrong.
Fumina had been warm and affectionate with him during his friends' interruptions, and even joked and laughed with them during their stay. Thankfully it wasn't a long stay as they had ordered something to go, and left the couple to their date.
Fumina had enjoyed herself thoroughly as well.
Now they walked, hand in hand, toward the girl's apartment complex. "Thank you for seeing me today." Fumina smiled, "This is the nicest time I've had in a while. Your friends were nice, too."
Kira frowned, "Yeah, sorry about that," the boy said, "Tolle can be a pest when he wants to be."
"Don't be sorry," the girl giggled, "It was nice. And I had a lot of fun." She gave his hand a little squeeze, "And...I wouldn't mind seeing you again, if you wouldn't mind seeing me again?"
Kira visibly brightened at that, "I'd like that a lot, actually."
"Friday?" She asked, "Three o'clock?"
"Meet up at the same place?" Kira put in.
"Perfect." Fumina surprised both of them with her next action as she stretched up on her toes, and pecked the side of his mouth. Not a full kiss on the lips, but just enough that Kira felt like he'd just been hit with a taser round. I'll see you then. Goodnight, Kira!" She giggled and skipped away from him down the street.
Kira reached up and touched his face, drawing back a small pink stain on his finger tips.
ガンダム
{This might have actually been my first mistake. Honestly, I was only trying to keep Kira from Flay's craziness, but that first date we had together, I couldn't help myself. I'd struck out with Sekai, but the feelings were stronger with Kira, so I didn't doubt it. I'd just fallen in love with the damned Male Lead!}

Author's Note: This is a rewrite of Fumina the Golden Comet. I'm really hoping that this version does better than the previous one. Also with Fumina's little snippets explaining some of her actions and parts of her story that I haven't written.
Anyway, she'll be using a Cosmic Era Gundam, and customizing it herself like the Gunpla hellion that she is. Not to mention her two accomplices, Kou Uraki, and Allenby Beardsley.
Please Review this story if you'd like to see more of it.
