Okay, so the rewrite of the first chapter is here! Much quicker than I thought, to be honest.
So for anyone who's new to this series, the original version of this chapter was written back when I first started out writing Fanfiction in general, and there were some plotholes and such left behind here.
I wanted to fix it, and decided on a complete rewrite of this chapter, with hints and foreshadowing to the first arc (the Lizard arc) or everything later on. So for everyone who read the original version or a follower of this fic, there's still something to read for XD.
Anyway, for both new and old readers of this fic, enjoy!
Reviews are definitely welcome as well.
So, let's start from the beginning one last time.
My name is Ethan Turner, a normal 16-year-old kid living in some town inside Oregon. I can't say that I'm that handsome, and my heavy framed glasses and messy hair only shouted 'Nerd' to others. You know, living in a life that was... normal. Nothing happened or didn't happen.
That was until one night.
I don't know what happened or why, but I was somehow transferred to a new dimension, a new world in which heroes are real. And I got to be one of them as well. Call me 'Noir.'
I know, it's not that original... No, not original at all. But I got spider power, and Spider-Man is already a thing here. And well, it's better than what the news called me.
However, all of you want to know what happened, right? Well, sit back, relax...
This is the story all about how my life got flipped turned upside down...
C'mon, it's the perfect summary of what happened to me.
"Who are you? Are you me?"
"Where am I?"
"What's happening-"
Urgh... I felt sick, like really sick.
After a fever-dream-like trip of a lifetime, and an intense sensation to vomit, I stirred awake and... Wait for a second, this wasn't my bedroom. The pale white ceiling, beeping sound from the machine all around me...
Excuse me, but why was I in a hospital?
And but before I could even clear my mind, someone suddenly held me tight. "Ethan! You're fine!"
...Huh?
As that someone released her soul-crushing hug, I could finally take a good look at her. She was a somewhat young woman (around her mid-thirties) with straight shoulder-length hair. And the shade of brown... it reminded me of chocolate.
But uh... I never knew you, why did you know me though? And wait, there were more people than just her!
Actually, it was two teenage girls, one blonde and one redhead. And they looked familiar... oh wait, they looked like characters I saw in some Netflix shows and movies I watched before.
Weird.
"You're finally awake," The redhead sighed in relief, and a smile appeared as well. "Ethan, you won't believe how worried we were..."
...Wait, she knew me as well. What was actually going on, couldn't someone just tell me? I really need some explanations, right here right now.
But I guess I'd have to be the one who asked.
Giving in a mental sigh, I fake grunted. "H-hey, what happened? My memories of everything are kinda... fuzzy and all over the place."
"You fainted after a spider bite," The blonde answered, resting her hands against her waist. "We're in Oscorp for the internship application, and one of the spiders got out and bit you. Well, technically, you and Mary are only coming along with me..."
...Oscorp? As in... THAT Oscorp? Then I... Oh no, no no no no no no NO!
I got stuck in a Marvel universe! And the worse thing was that I didn't know which one I got myself into! Was it the MCU, the Insomnia-verse, earth-616...
Hell, it could even be Fanfic's world.
"Hey Ethan, you just said your memories are fuzzy..." The redhead's world interrupted my frantic thought. "I know it might be offensive, but do you... remember us?"
Ethan, it's a better idea to be honest than to lie and failed miserably. As much as it might hurt them.
"...No," I shook my head, wincing at their shocked and hurt look (especially the older woman). "My memories just... Everything is just like a giant mess."
However, even if she's clearly hurt by my answer, the older woman leaned forward and placed her hand on mine. "...I-I'm your aunt, Catherine," She said, still trying to give me a warm and reassuring smile.
O-okay, Ethan, it wasn't exactly in your control, just didn't be too guilty about it.
"And I thought Peter's reaction to his bite was bad..." Trailing off, the blonde ran her hand through her hair and waved. "I'm Gwen, in case you forget it as well."
Oh, so it wasn't the MCU... Gwen Stacy didn't exist over there, after all. And if Gwen was here, then that redhead was probably Mary Jane. She didn't look like how Michelle Jones, after all.
And as if she just read my mind, the redhead waved at me. "MJ, or Mary Jane... That's enough, right?"
...Why didn't I get the memories of the original owner of this body, why.
After some check-ups from multiple doctors (maybe it was Oscorp checking on me?), and an apology from Oscorp itself, I was finally out of the hospital.
It was nighttime when I got out though.
Catherine wasted no time and drove me back to our apartment, an apartment located inside Queens.
And... it felt weird to call this my home. It definitely gave out a comfy atmosphere, and quite nice overall. Even though there's an extra empty bedroom.
But it just felt... off. It's just like I was stealing somebody else's life.
Well, technically, this body was an alternative world version of myself. Like, we even shared the same name. But either way, it just felt off to come back to 'home' without seeing my family.
Mom, dad, my sister Eveline... Maybe they would have a counterpart in this world, but... I guess I'd have to wing it.
Entering the apartment, Catherine turned back and adjusted her glasses. "You're sure that your memories are still fuzzy, right?" She asked, her brows furrowed in worry. "You used to write a journal to keep things on track, I think it's in your room. Maybe that'll help."
"A-anyway, I'll make us some dinner."
Nodding to no one, she hastily walked over to the kitchen and searched through the fridge. And meanwhile, I decided to enter 'my' room. It was quite easy to figure out which one was mine, since one of the doors literally have Catherine's name on it, and the other one was empty. So there's only one door left.
Opening the door, I stepped inside and... What a mess.
It seemed like my other self hated organization, like literally. Other than the bed, books were all around the room. Some of them were on the shelf, on the work table, and on the floor...
How the hell did my other self lived in this room?
Shaking my head in disappointment, I searched my work table and found a small notebook with 'my boring life' written on it. Hey man, you lived in a world where superhero existed, it probably wasn't THAT boring, right?
Hastily picking up the books and placing them to where they should be, I sat down by the work table and started reading. It... No way, your life was THAT boring.
So in a nutshell, our friend Ethan Turner was a friend of Peter Park and the small friend circle. So it was literally just me, Peter, Gwen, and MJ. And there was pile after pile of boring complaints, typical edgy teen stuff.
At least he didn't say 'I'm not like the others' kind of stuff, so that was a plus.
And... huh, he was interested in Spider-Man, not really a fan, but interested in his web and such. Of course, the first question listed there was 'What is his web made of?'
And there was even a blueprint of a self-made web shooter from a watch and the formula to create the web fluid... Hold on, how did he crack the code? Um... wait, this page just said he got some of his webs and analyzed it... But that didn't explain too much, my other-self. and from the look of it, he studied in the formula for... about a year.
Well, as much as I didn't like you, I had to appreciate your determination. At least you did get some results.
However, after reading through a lot of small events between the friend group, and Midtown life in general... It just said my dad was killed. He was a police sheriff operating on West Coast (San Francisco to be precise), and he was killed by a mafia called 'The Dead Bridges.'
...Why did I feel like I was going to encounter that 'Dead Bridges' again?
Sighing to myself, I was about to close the journal when my hand... my hand suddenly stuck to the notebook itself. Wait a sec, why was my hand... I- I couldn't get it off?!
It didn't take me too long to realize what really happened.
"No... no fuckin' way..." I murmured, my eyes widened in shock and realization. "Wait, it all makes sense now. Spider bite, Oscorp..."
I got spider power.
O-okay, stay calm first. The urgent thing was that I needed to get this notebook off of my hand. And how did they got things to unstuck from hand... C'mon, Ethan, you were a nerd about stuff like this, wasn't it?
"Ethan, dinner is ready," Suddenly, Catherine's voice came through the door alongside a few knocks.
"O-okay, I'll be there!" I replied, desperately trying to calm myself down.
"Okay Ethan, the only way is to relax, right?" I clutched my eyes, controlling my breathing. "Don't panic, you'll get unstuck in no time..."
In... Out... In... Out... In... Out...
After a few slow and deep breathes, I could feel the journal slipped off from my hand and landed on the table. And seeing that, I couldn't help but grin widely. Ethan, was this real life? Or was this fantasy?
Wa-wait, Catherine's dinner. Yeah, I shouldn't let her waited for too long.
[A month later]
Ever since being tossed into this Marvel Universe, I had been trying to get into this new world I would probably be living in. Thank god Gwen and my application were in late July.
In the meantime, I was searching around the internet. And saving up to buy me another bass guitar.
So, about this world. This universe was somewhat based on the MCU, the whole Chitauri invasion did happen back in 2012. And the Avengers took care of it, even though the civilian casualty was huge.
SHIELD dissolved in 2014, alongside the whole Helicarrier incident in DC. The Slovakia incident happened about a year later, and... Wait a second, the Lagos incident happened about half a year ago, which was.. 2019.
Hold on, shouldn't the Lagos incident happen in 2016? Then... it meant that the event of the Civil War was four years after the Slovakia battle. Okay, this was definitely not totally the MCU, but a modified version of it.
However, there wasn't any mention of Vulture being arrested. But there was mention of other Spider-Man villains though. Rhino, Tombstone, Electro, Scorpion... But strangely, there also wasn't mention of a few specific ones though.
For example, Curtis Connor and Otto Octavius were still working for Oscorp, and Dr. Octavius had a younger sister called Olivia Octavius (She's in college, by the way). And there were mentions of Yuriko Watanabe too, but she was only a lieutenant.
But now, school resumed. As much as I didn't want to.
Midtown High was... a weird place to get through, and I felt like one of those new kids even though my other self already studied in this place for a year.
Thankfully, the day went on mostly alright. The thing they taught mostly lined up with my old school and no one gave me too much trouble and stuff. And just as what I found out before, all the major characters in Midtown were their MCU counterpart.
At least Flash wasn't that much of an asshole, that was a major plus.
Time went on quite nicely, and it was lunch before I realized. Maybe that was how schools in cities work? I didn't know since my old school was a public school in some town.
Now at lunch, the four of us were sitting together at the 'usual' table. I didn't know much about it, but from what Gwen said, we used to pick this exact table every day.
"So," Taking a huge bite into the bread, MJ raised a brow at me. "How was it?"
"How's what?" I blinked.
"The whole memory thingy," She clarified, crossed her arms and leaned forward. "We're worried, y'know."
I nodded numbly. "...It's alright, even though I still lost a part of it," Rubbing the back of my neck, I just felt a bit awkward around her gaze. "I know it sucks, but I can only have to deal with it until they eventually come back."
However, Gwen raised a brow at my answer. "Now that's something the old Ethan definitely won't say."
"Oh no," MJ dramatically gasped, staring at me with a... shocked gaze? "Who are you, and what have you done with Ethan?"
Uh... other than being tossed to this body and had to take on his life from now on, not that much. Right? It wasn't that much, right? B-but right now I had to think of an excuse, c'mon, made up something to tell them, Ethan.
"I'm just a bit tired with the complaining, I guess," I shrugged, giving out a soft sigh. "It can be a bit tiring, seeing everything with a negative lens. Not everything is bad, right?"
"Huh, you grew up, Ethan," Peter Parker, who was sitting beside me, widened his eyes in surprise. "I hate to say it, but the old you was... kinda annoying."
"Yeah, with all those complaining and such..." Gwen nodded in agreement.
Well, the old me wasn't that great of a person, after all. At least from what I read from the journal, he was a bit whiny... and annoying as well.
"I know, people can change, after all."
With that said, we returned to our lunch with silence, and... oh my god, it tasted much better than what I had before! Well, it still tasted awful, but much better than what I had before in comparison.
However, just as my thought was about to drift to somewhere else, MJ suddenly groaned out loud and caught out attention.
"What's wrong, Mary?" Gwen asked, kept giving her worried glances.
"Nothing really, I'm just..." Trailing off, the redhead leaned back into her seat. "Why does nobody play bass now... It's so hard to find a bass player!"
Upon hearing her reasons, Peter raised his brow in curiosity. "Oh, you're still looking for a bassist?"
"I have been looking for the last few months, but I can't find anyone," She sighed. "C'mon, it shouldn't be this hard to find someone, right?"
Oh, so she's looking for a bass player... I thought I could take this job. But it might come out of the left-field for them though... Well, I did join a band during my Freshmen year. Wait, why was I second-guessing myself. It should be fine.
"Hey, Blood Red Shoes is just a duo, and they're fine with that-"
"I can play the bass, if you want to," I suggested, and interrupted what Gwen was going to say, unfortunately. "...oh, I didn't mean to interrupt you guys. Sorry."
However, the three just stared at me with a look of shock, and neither one of them answered me for a while. And the only word they could say... came out from MJ's mouth.
"When?" She blinked. "W-when the hell did you started playing bass?"
"I started last month... give or take," I shrugged, noticing how their eyes gave out a sense of disappointment. "Hey, at least you two can hear how I play, then you can give your judgment on my skill."
"But why the hell did you start playing bass though?" Peter asked, still giving me suspicious glances. "You never mentioned anything remotely near to bass, or anything related to music."
"Uh... Because I watched Scott Pilgrim?"
Well, that wasn't exactly a lie, I did start to learn and play bass becuase of that movie. But it's before I got tossed into this universe. Of course, I did realize that Scott himself was an asshole for cheating and stuff... but the movie was great, and the music was awesome... among other things.
"...Well, I get that," MJ brushed a strand of hair aside. "I also wanted to form a band because of that movie... Even though I liked the comic more."
"Yeah, the comic did give everyone else more screentime," I nodded, shifting my posture. "But the movie still adopted almost all six volumes together- Wait, why are we talking about this right now?"
"Because you mentioned Scott Pilgrim?" Gwen raised a brow, taking a sip of her box of milk. "Anyway, MJ makes the decision here, not me."
...Oh yeah, speaking of which, I never asked any details about the band.
However, before I even opened my lips, MJ clapped her hands with a bright smile. "Well, welcome to Mary Jane's! Now you're our bassist!"
I nodded. "Yeah, so uh... when is my practice with you guys?"
"This Saturday, at my place," The redhead nodded with an innocent smile. "I'll send the song list we're going to practice on tonight. We're just going to do some cover for now, and to build our camaraderie as a band."
"Okay, I'll do my best then."
Now back to my house, I went into my room almost instantly and looked through no other self's notebook. It's been a month since I woke up in this world and with the power... Should I do something with it?
Looking at the blueprint my other self left behind, I just fell into deep thought. Peter was going around as Spider-Man already, there really wasn't a place for me to do anything about it.
But... there would still be places that Peter couldn't, and wouldn't touch. The underworld of crime.
Over the course of the month, I found another notebook inside the room. And this time, it was the investigation notebook my other self's father left behind. He probably kept it as a memento of his father. But... inside that notebook was pile and pile of information concerning different mafia and gangs.
Of course, the 'Dead-Bridges' was most of what this notebook documented.
Maybe I should do something about them? No, that was stupid. Even if I really decided to wear a costume and went out at night, I shouldn't just tackle them straight away.
Sighing to myself, I leaned into my chair... Whatever, I had power, I shouldn't just leave them to be unused. Even though I didn't belong to this world, but this would be the place I called 'home'.
Besides, wasn't being a hero what you wanted, Ethan Turner?
Nodding to myself, I started to take a closer too to the blueprint my other self left behind. And... oh, he also had plans to actually make them in a real thing, and he had the necessary materials in a box under the bed.
Convenient.
Thankfully, I wasn't that bad in woodworking and engineering in general, and with the blueprint guiding me, I was able to finish one of them today. And thank god my other self's design wasn't too overcomplicated.
And definitely didn't have 576 combinations of webbing. I knew what your intention of putting all of them in, Mr. Stark. But it's too much.
And following the pace, I finished my other web shooter the day later. And it took me a bit less time to make that compared to the first one.
After finish both of them (and making the web fluid from the instruction in the notebook, it was much easier than I expected), I waited until Catherine was asleep and crawl out from my room's window.
My room's window was connected to the fire escape, by the way.
Crawling to the rooftop with my power, which I got somewhat of a hang of, I double-checked my web-shooters before putting them on. It was a bit tighter than I would like to, but I could only deal with it for now.
"Okay... Just some small test first, it should be alright," Reassuring myself, I aimed at the ground and double-tapped the button in my palm.
And thankfully, a line of web shot out from the shooter and attached to the ground. Nice, it worked perfectly!
I couldn't help but grin like a small child at this success and tested my other web-shooter, and it worked as intended. Okay, now for the web itself.
Nodding to myself, I crawled back to the wall and stood straight, and fired a line of web to the edge of the roof. "Okay Ethan, relax and put trust in your other self..." Trailing off, I controlled my breathing and felt my feet lost the grip on the wall.
Before long, my entire weight was rest upon the line of the web itself, and I could literally hear how quick my heart was beating. I knew that it's a really bad way to test the strength of the web, with my life depending on it. But if I wanted to swing around, I had to make sure that it could support my weight-
I couldn't even finish my thought when the web suddenly snapped.
Widening my eyes in horror, I felt the wind roared on my ears as gravity started to pull me downward. Okay Ethan, it's now or never! Now we knew that the web couldn't hold me long, but I needed it right now!
Hastily firing another line of webbing onto the building itself, the fell was suddenly interrupted and turned to a swinging motion. Wait, didn't I aimed right above me to avoid swinging-
Once again, my thought was interrupted with the force of swinging hit me, and swung away from my apartment building. With my eyes widened in shock, I hastily fired two lines of web from my hands and pulled, launching myself back onto the building while hoping that they wouldn't snap on me.
Now finally stuck to the outer wall of the apartment building, I could finally take a few breaths of relief. "...I guess I need to make it a few percent stronger," I muttered, feeling a small laugh escaped. "And definitely no swinging for now, definitely."
The next one or two days went on as before, dealing with school, talking with the gang during lunch and free time... And tried my best to not cringe at Flash's 'comedic' comments.
"Hey Turner, how's the bootleg breakfast club doing?"
...What.
Packing my stuff in and out of the locker, I turned around and faced Flash with a deadpan look. "Seriously, you think that's funny?"
"...I thought that it is," Feeling the cringe struck him in full force, Eugene Thompson (I would never stop calling him that, ever... for the shit and giggles, mostly) hastily coughed and tried to act like all tough. "But anyway, why did you stop your rant streak, it was quite a spectacle to hear the word come from your mouth."
"...Because it's too tiring?" I looked away, trying to find a way to get myself out of this situation. "I mean... what's the point of ranting at everything as they owed you your life?"
"Dude... Holy shit," Flash just widened his eyes in shock, and scanned my entire feature before landing back on my eyes again. "What hit you, puberty? You sounded like a 30-year-old man with a midlife crisis."
"That and a Spider-bite, probably," I shrugged. "Wait, where's the connection between puberty and midlife crisis? Because I don't see any."
Fortunately for Flash, the school bell rang and gave him a chance to get out of the conversation. And to be honest, I got things more important than dealing with Flash's painfully unfunny jokes... No, calling them 'jokes' is a disgrace to the word itself.
And wait, I was sidetracked here.
Anyway, I left the school right after it ended, and I decided to grab some mask and gloves for the suit. With how limited my budget was, a full suit like Spider-Man was definitely out of the equation. And maybe... something like the Last Stand suit would be more possible for me.
Consider what I had inside my closet right now, that's probably the best I could do.
After buying a black mouth-less ski mask from a sports store, a goggle from a different ship, and a pair of leather gloves that fit my hand perfectly. I rushed back home and started working.
First, I put on the mask and the goggles together, adjusting and looking for the perfect spot for both of them. Then I snitched them together, since the goggle I bought wasn't made from leather, I had to snitch the band instead.
At least it took much less time compared to making those web-shooters, and it was MUCH less.
Trying out the mask and the gloves, I grabbed a mirror and took a glance at my look. Uh... it's alright, not fantastic, but good enough. Consider how little budget I had to deal with.
After that, I literally dug into my closet to look for anything that's enough to be the rest of my suit. And first thing first, they had to be black... Not that I was emo or anything like that. It's just that the mask and the gloves were both black, and I had to fit the color theme.
But thankfully, there was a jacket and jeans that fit the color theme, and I was still fit enough to wear them! Nice, so the suit problem was literally solved. Okay then, I didn't think there's anything left to prepare-
"Hey Ethan, it's dinner time!"
Surprised by Catherine's calling, I hastily took off the jacket and jeans and stuffed them into the closet. I would pack them up later, and I intended to have a night out for now as well.
Even though it's been a month, I still couldn't help but surprised by how good Catherine was as a cook. Not only the dinner were always delicious, but never felt repetitive as well.
"You like it, Ethan?" Seeing how I smiled like a child, Catherine just raised a brow in amusement. "I learned it from Rio."
"Rio?"
"Yeah, friends from work," She nodded, taking a bite into the dinner as well. "I guess she's this good because she's a mom herself."
"I know, but you're also great yourself too," Keeping the smile, I shifted in my seat. "You deserve some credit too."
"Aww, stop making my blush," My aunt laughed, but a cute blush still crept onto her cheeks. "Save that for your girlfriend, not your aunt."
"Hey, I'm just stating the fact, you really do deserve it."
"Maybe I am, maybe not."
"I'm gonna take that as a 'yes', and you can't refuse it."
Well, it felt weird to admit it, but I liked teasing Catherine. Not in a weird way, it's just nice to see her being more and more comfortable around me, especially in contrast with how we were the first few days after I woke up.
Wait, why did I say 'weird' twice for no apparent reason?
J-just whatever.
After dinner, and helping her with washing the dishes, she went to sleep earlier than usual. Well, her work demanded a lot from her, and cooking dinner after coming back... I tried to talk about this, telling her that she didn't need to do so. But she insisted.
Yeah, she could be a bit stubborn from time to time.
Anyway, now she's asleep, it's time to have my first night out. Let's hope she wouldn't wake up and check my room, even though it's very unlikely.
After putting on the suit, which proved to quite a bit tedious to put on with adjusting the web-shooters on my wrists, I quietly climbed out from my room's window. Then I crawled onto the roof, glancing at the apartment building right across the street.
Oh right, I had never test my jump before... But with the new and improved web fluid, I still could web-zip myself if I couldn't make the jump. "In all and all, it's just a leap of faith, Ethan," I took a deep breath.
Hopping around to ready myself, I ran forward at full speed and jumped. I had never said this, but the feeling of weightlessness was really awesome. Maybe it's the thrill, or just the feeling of freedom.
And thankfully, I made the jump.
Landing with a roll, I looked back at the apartment build I jumped off from with a grin. "W-wow... I just did that."
Right, now... I think the warehouse my dad's (in this universe) notebook mentioned was around a dozen blocks away from here. And from the look of it, it would be heavily guarded...
Great, my first night out, and it's something like that. Let's hope my boosted reflex and flexibility would help out. And definitely stuck to stealth, there's no way that I was going to fight them head-on-
"Hey, cutie, need some company? It's late at night."
...Wait, what? Where did that come from?
Hastily looking around, I heard the same voice again from my right. And... oh no, please didn't be what I was thinking right now.
Peeking over the edge of the roof, I saw three guys in their thirties or fourties approaching a young girl around my age. Fuck, it's exactly what I didn't want to happen. Okay Ethan, stuck to the shadow and waited for the right time to strike.
I slowly crawled along the wall and avoided any lighting, while hearing what they're saying. And to say that I was angry... was an understatement.
"E-excuse me, please just let me go home..." Even if her discomfort was clear as day, those three assholes just didn't take the hint and continued approaching her.
"Well, it won't take you long, sweetheart. Just trust us," Another one of the group, who was wearing a striped shirt said with a smirk, just as the other two laughed.
"N-no, please let me go. I really need to go home right now-"
Okay, one of them was one or two steps behind the other two, I have to strike now! Without hesitation, I fired a line of web to his back and pulled, not caring how much noise he was making with panic screaming.
"AHH! HELP-" I didn't let him finish his word, and slammed his body right into the wall beside me, knocking him out before sticking him there with webs.
"Wha-"
Leaping off from the wall and landed in a crouch position, I only stared at them with silence. There's no time for quips right now, it's a 1v2 situation, I needed to be more cautious.
"Holy shit, S-spider-man-"
Taking their startled form as my advantage, I dashed forward and punched him right in the jaw, and he went out almost immediately. Okay... so they were weaker than I thought.
Unfortunately, the final one of the group picked up his pace and tried to run away, but I was not going to let this happen. Not at all.
I fired a line of web right to his back and pulled, before grabbing him by his neck. Was it a bit overkill? Probably.
Without a word spoken, I slammed him to the ground and webbed him up.
Now that's taken care of... Okay, stayed friendly to her, Ethan. Kept her calm.
I kneeled down with a smile under the mask, she probably wouldn't see it, but I guessed she felt it. "Hey, you're alright, ma'am?" I asked, using the softest tone I possibly could.
"...I-I am," She nodded numbly, still in awe at the scene behind me. "Thank you..."
"It's alright, but you should really call the cops," I said, gesturing to the webbed-up men behind me.
"O-oh right," She blinked, hastily grabbing her phone and called the cops. "Thank you, uh... Spider-Man?"
...Oh right, I still haven't think of the name of... this. Uh... What should I do then? I could make up a name right now, but I couldn't think of one right now. Well, maybe I should just leave it blank, maybe the news would create a better one for me? Who knew.
"No, I'm just someone who has the power to help," I shook my head, leaving out a small chuckle. "And I just happened to have the same power as Spider-Man. Or about the same."
Man, I was really awkward.
Thankfully, with the siren closing in alongside the flashing lights, I gave her a reassuring smile under the mask. She probably felt it, I hope so. "Stay safe, ma'am."
With that said, I fired a line of web and pulled myself to the roof. Okay, time to get back to what I originally intended to come out for. And maybe I could think of a name while running through all these rooftops.
After running through rooftop after rooftop, I was about to turn around a corner when my Spider-Sense suddenly buzzed.
Wait... Was there someone going to attack me?
Looking around, I only saw Peter swung right by me at high speed. And... huh, he's wearing the Stark Suit, the exact one. Fortunately, I thought he didn't notice me standing on the rooftop, and just continued on his way.
Well, the night wasn't over, let's get going, Ethan.
Now that I had stepped into this life as a vigilante... Things might become complicated, dealing with villains, and probably a messy love life...
But I have the power to save someone else, I shouldn't just leave it alone.
Who knew how my life in this universe would be? Let's hope it wouldn't be too bad.
(To be continued.)
