'Where Am I?'

That was the first thing that came to her panicked mind as she struggled to open her eyes.

"All right, don't panic. What's the last thing you remember?'

She wandered back to her most recent memories, small glances of last night events flashed in her mind. "Let's see, I woke up, had breakfast, went to school and then came back home and fell asleep on the couch." She recalled, hoping she didn't forget anything.

Nothing out of the usual had happened, besides her totally unplanned Inuyasha marathon at 3am, but it was normal for her to waste her Fridays nights binge watching anime or painting. So there was no logical explanation as to why she was feeling so lost and confused.

It was very likely that she had fallen asleep face down on her couch, wrapped in her blankets like a giant burrito... that would explain why she couldn't move her body at all.

'But why... Why is it so freaking dark and cold? Why can't I remember nothing after I fell asleep last night? Did I hit my head on accident again?!'

Her eyelids were heavy with tiredness as she tried to move her body again to no avail. It felt like her limbs were way too heavy to even move an inch. Scared, she tried to scream- to call out for help, and to her surprise only a whining sound came out of her mouth.

Mortified, she sucked a deep breath preparing herself to scream her lungs out. Her chest vibrated from her loudness, ears ringing she attempted to move again only to obtain the same result.

She was in the middle of trying again when her body was moved around by someone or something. It was hard to tell in her current state. They carried her for a few seconds before she was grabbed by a pair of hands that held her like she weighed nothing. Panic began to invade her once again as millions of thoughts filled her head. Was she about to die by the hands of a titan? That seemed like the most logical thing, after all, she doubted that any normal sized person could hold a 5'7 girl with such an ease. She wasn't the tallest girl of her class, but she was a little above average height.

A warm breeze caressed her face as a kiss was placed on her forehead, "Our little girl is finally awake." a sweet feminine voice said as she rocked her body on her arms.

Like a broken spell aided by those magic words, her eyes fluttered open.

She blinked slowly, having a hard time adjusting her poor eyes to the bright lighting when suddenly she found herself staring at an unknown woman who smiled at her the moment their gaze met.

The woman was the one holding her hostage. The love and admiration drowning her gaze did nothing to make her feel at ease. Actually, it contributed to the awkwardness she already felt to begin with. She was expecting to find the ugly face of a titan ready to eat her alive! not the beautiful face of a lovely woman. Strangely enough, her face was vaguely familiar, though she couldn't quite put her finger on it.

The way the woman was holding her, resembled the hold of a mother with her newborn baby. How funny, considering she's almost an adult. Would it be rude if she asked her to let her go? Things were starting to get more awkward. She tried talking again, and to her frustration she got the same results. Her unintelligible babble made the woman erupt in a fit of giggles that irritated her. 'The nerve of her! I can't believe she's laughing at me!'

"Looks like our little girl is going to be a social butterfly. Aren't you, darling?"

She frowned and remained silent.

Unfazed by her lack of answer, the woman spoke again, her voice almost a whisper, "Hello there sweetheart," She smiled down at her, "Are you hungry?"

She opened her mouth, ready to refuse the offer, and again that pathetic whine came out.

"I'll take that as a yes," She said sweetly as she moved her closer to her chest. "Open wide!"

'Well, this is awkward. Am I supposed to suck? Oh dear goodness, I'll need therapy after I wake up from this dream.'

After the woman stopped feeding her, It finally dawned on her that something wasn't right. First of all, she was an 18 years old girl, not a baby, and this woman was definitely not her mother and the man, (whom she just realized was in the room.) next to her wasn't her father and the old man (who she just noted as well.) with the tears in his eyes wasn't her grandpa.

'Then, why do they look so familiar?'

"Kagome," Said the younger man coming closer to rest his big hand on her head. "Your name is Kagome. The light of our lives."

'What a funny coincidence, just like Kagome Higurashi from Inuyasha...'

"Higurashi Kagome," The old man nodded in approval, coming closer as if to inspect her, "I like it. It fits her."

If she could, she would be laughing at her predicament. After all, it wasn't everyday that by some mysterious reason, she was reincarnated as Kagome Higurashi from Inuyasha.

'Should I consider myself blessed or plain unlucky?'

With every passing day, she was more convinced that, whatever was happening to her was indeed real, and not a delirious dream result of her wild imagination.

Kagome's family- her family wasn't so bad. Grandpa was a bit dramatic, but for the most part he was alright, always telling her stories and sneaking candys at her when no one was looking. Eiko, her mother was an amazing mother and cook, she was literally the definition of a perfect parent. Now she could understand why she was such a beloved character. Lastly, her father, Kei. He was a kind man who loved his family dearly. He rather cut off his own arm than to see any of us in pain. So of course she liked him very much.

Slowly, they were gaining a special place in her heart.

"Unfortunately, happiness doesn't last forever.' Kagome thought as she stared numbly at the photograph of the man she had learned to love as her true father. She lit an incense, careful not to burn her hands, (coordination was still tricky for her, with her chubby hands and all.) and murmured a quick, but honest prayer wishing for the peaceful rest of his soul.

Once Kagome was done she wiped her tears and walked towards her mom, hoping to hide her red face and swollen eyes on her mother's black dress. She didn't want to be seen like this.

Tragedy had arrived at the Higurashi's shrine doorstep, casting a temporal grey cloud over it and only the birth of a new member had removed the sad aura that polluted the air in the sanctuary.

Her younger brother, Sota, was born on a cold April night in the same hospital as her. His first cry had brought a smile on her mother's face. A very lovely one she hadn't seen in a while and dearly missed. Kagome hoped her mother started to smile as often as before.

Three months after Sota's birth, she could feel an obvious change in the air. This could only mean that even from an early age, the original Kagome could feel the presence of evil spirits and auras.

She touched her left side out of habit. She wasn't surprised about that discovery. After all, she had the jewel inside of her to enhance her spiritual powers.

She had a mission in this new life. A mission that she had assigned to herself as soon as her spiritual powers started to manifest, she was going to destroy the shikon no tama to protect the original Kagome's precious people, and she would succeed on it, in memory of the original Kagome. She wouldn't disappoint her or anyone if she could help it.

She no longer felt sad every day, instead, she expected each day with anticipation. Eager to start her adventure in feudal Japan.

Every day that passed meant one day less for her 15th birthday. The day her life would be turned upside down.

She needed to train if she wanted to be more useful to the team this time around.

"Jii-chan," she called the old man sitting under the sacred tree, "Tell me about the shikon no tama."

His eyes widened in surprise as a genuine smile bloomed on his face. She could tell he was proud of her from that simple question, "Who told you about it?" He asked curiously, patting the empty spot at his side, "I'm sure I haven't mentioned it to you..." He wondered aloud in deep thought.

Kagome bit her lip nervously as she took a seat next to him, focusing her eyes on the ground so he couldn't see how affected she was, 'Crap, I'm only 6, of course he's curious as to where she learned that. Quick, think about something! He's starting to get suspicious!' She faced him then, "I heard you talking about it to the American tourists the other day." She lied, feeling a little guilty. 'Nice one, Kagome!' She mentally congratulated herself.

He smiled, "I knew one of my grandchildren would be interested in the shrine. Though it is to be expected since it's on the Higurashi's bloodline to care for the shrine and rid the world of evil yokais."

She nodded, eager to hear more, "Sota's still a baby. When he is big like me we can help you with the shrine. I can dress up like a miko and sell the talismans."

He beamed at her idea clasping his hands together loudly, he smiled at her, "I'd like that! We can even dress Sota as a yokai!" A moment passed as he continued to contemplate the idea, before he cleared his throat, remembering the main reason as to why she was there, "The shikon no tama you said, well, it all began many years ago…"

He began to tell the story adding his own sound effects-according to him- to make the story more interesting for her. "And the priestess said," he cleared his throat, "Agh! My love how could you?!"

Kagome stifled a laugh. That was the worst girly scream she ever heard in her two lives.

Her grandpa continued with the show, gesturing with his hands, "The priestess used her bow and shot an arrow that sealed her yokai lover on a tree." He said in a sympathetic tone before coming closer, and almost in a whisper he said, "And you know what, Kagome?"

She leaned closer as well, "What?"

"The tree from the story is the very same behind us." He faced the sacred tree now, prompting her to do the same.

"Really?" She asked, feigning surprise since she already knew all of this.

Grandpa nodded, "Yes." He smiled, "Our family has had the honor to take care of the shrine since hundreds of years ago, so you should feel very proud to live in such a place."

Kagome nodded, before she returned his smile, "I want to be a priestess like the one from the story!" She declared excitedly bouncing off from her seat.

The first step of her plan has been completed.

She was currently 7 and learning how to use her spiritual power to appease evil energies with one of Jii-chan's old friend, Chikako-san. She was an elderly woman in her late 60's who was in charge of the Nobuko shrine and was her current teacher for her miko training.

Sweat built up in her forehead as she bit her lips, clenching her fists to suppress a shiver. This was harder than she expected and the atmosphere of the house didn't help her case. The presence of an evil spirit was the cause of her stress. The bastard refused to make its appearance so she could purify it.

"What is it, Kagome-chan?" a voice said from behind me. "Having trouble now?"

She looked over her shoulder to meet the woman's stern eyes, "I can feel it, Chikako-san." Kagome shook her head, "But I can't get it out of its hiding place."

Chikako made her way to her side, "Think about your spiritual energy as an extension of your body." she placed a bony hand on Kagome's right shoulder to comfort her. "You know where the presence is, extend your hand and imagine a light coming out of it." she explained before removing her hand.

Kagome did as told, and was surprised to feel a warm sensation spreading around her body before it concentrated on her hands. They glowed brightly with a pink hue to them that left her dumbfounded. She stared at them for a few seconds, before she remembered the task at hand. She could feel the spirit hiding inside of a vase nearby. Smirking, she closed her eyes as she imagined the energy separating from her hands, forming an orb of raw spiritual energy and with a flick of her wrist she threw it at the vase, successfully purifying the evil presence.

Chikako gasped, "A-amazing." She complimented her work.

Kagome opened her eyes to see the pinkish light still emanating from her hands before it faded away, "How was it, sensei?" She asked cheerfully, proud of her success.

Chikako was awed, "I've never seen such a powerful spiritual energy before," she said in disbelief. "Especially in a young child like yourself. I'm glad your grandpa brought you to me, heavens knows he doesn't know a thing about spiritual energy."

She grinned at that, "Thank you, Chikako-san, but I must leave now or I'll be late to my archery lessons."

Still a bit dumbfounded, her sensei nodded and waved her goodbye.

She was 9 now, and very proud to say she was stronger than the original Kagome. However, even after all of these years, she still feels weird being in one of her favourite character body. She felt like an intruder, like she had stolen Kagome's life. But slowly, and with a lot of patience she accepted it.

She was currently at school having lunch with Ayaka-chan. A friend from elementary school she hung out with all the time when she wasn't busy training. Ayaka was a shy girl with big brown eyes and short black hair that Kagome had met by accident when she collided with her in the hallway. Ayaka had spent the rest of the day staring at her until she apologized and promised to be careful, the girl had smiled and introduced herself before inviting Kagome to have lunch with her.

"What are you thinking about?" Ayaka asked in between bites of her egg sandwich.

"Just thinking about how we met." she said smiling.

She nodded satisfied with the answer, wiping some leftover crumbs from her shirt as she rose from her seat, "I'll see you after class?"

Kagome shook her head feeling guilty, "I have kendo today." she smiled apologetically, "Maybe some other day?"

"Oh," Ayaka said in a sad tone that broke her heart, "I see."

"But we can hang out tomorrow if you want,"

She cheered immediately, "It's fine by me!"

14 wasn't an easy age. It was the most uncomfortable and awkward of all ages.

Kagome shivered as she recalled this morning's events as she sat down to watch T.V. She had "The talk," with her mom. She was dying of embarrassment the whole time. To think she had the audacity to consider herself mature for her age when she couldn't even withstand the bees and flowers talk for a second time.

Luckily, she was finally free now.

Kagome stretched her arms over her head, a content expression adorning her face. She had received her test results yesterday and she was proud to say she was freaking smart.

Kagome hadn't spent all of this time just training physically and spiritually, she had also invested her free time studying. That way she could leave to the feudal era without worrying too much about her grades.

"Buyo," she called the fat cat. "Come here."

He purred in response and sat on her lap. She scratched his ears earning a lot of purrs from him.

Sota entered the living room, and called her, "Sis," he pouted, raising his arms, "Let me hold Buyo."

"Alright, but be careful." she warned, handing him the cat before standing up. Leisurely, she made her way to the kitchen. "Mom. You need any help?"

"Ah, yes." She said, turning around to smile at daughter. Eiko dried her hands on her apron before handing Kagome a knife, "Can you cut the vegetables?"

She nodded and happily did as told. She loved helping her around, simple tasks like this helped her forget that her time was almost up. Only one more year to go.

Later that day, Kagome did something she hadn't done in a while.

She stood in her bathroom staring at her reflection. How many times had she done this? What more convincing she needed? Involuntarily, her hands reached to touch her hair, before she reached to caress her face and finally she placed her hand on her belly. It stayed there for a couple of seconds until a soft light engulfed her hand. The shikon no tama. 'How weak will I be once you're not inside of me anymore?'

Kagome sighed as she turned off the light and walked away to her room. She needed to rest, she had a kendo tournament tomorrow.

"Happy birthday Kagome-chan!"

She opened her eyes lazily and was momentarily blinded by the sunlight. Once she regained her sight, Kagome was greeted with a beautiful view. Her mother had placed a small cake on her lap and encouraged her to blow the candles while Sota and grandpa were singing and clapping happily in the background.

Her eyes watered with unshed tears. Today was the day.

"Come, darling. Make a wish." Her mother said gently.

Kagome thought about it, and when she was ready, she closed her eyes and wished that everything went fine and that she wouldn't ruin the main plot too much.

She blew the candles, and with that her fate was sealed.

What happened next was a blur.

She was now staring at the bone's eater well. Sota was saying something but she couldn't hear him. Her palms were sweaty and she was trembling, and instead of backing away she moved forward, walking down the stairs slowly.

Wearily, she made her way down, and kneeled to pick up Buyo who purred happily in her arms. Once he was secured on her grasp, she turned to face Sota with a nervous smile plastered on her face.

She stood there and waited 10 seconds but nothing happened.

"Sis come back, I don't like this place." Sota begged her, his eyes wide with fear as he stared at every shadow with mistrust.

'Has my mere presence ruined everything? Should I jump on my own?' No. She quickly decides that would traumatize Sota. 'Better let things happen on their own.'

"I'm coming." She said ready to make her way up, "I don't want to be late today because of Buyo."

Just when she was about to set her foot on the wooden stairs, a cold sensation spread on her back, raising goosebumps on her skin. She let go of Buyo, not wanting to drag the poor animal with her and slowly turned her head to see hundreds of arms near her about to pull her inside the well.

"Sis!" Sota yelled in alarm, running to reach her.

But it was too late...
