Ariel hadn't wanted this.

She had simply been curious.

Curious because no one would tell her anything, not really. Any question she had, any curiosity she wished to satisfy would be ignored.

"Oh not now, Ariel." "Don't be such an annoying Guppy, Ariel." "Not now, Ariel. Pay attention to your lesson!" "No Ariel, don't ask me now!"

What was she supposed to do? Sit back as these questions swirled and swirled in her mind? Ariel simply did things: she broke rules and escaped Atlantica to find the answers to her unanswered questions. No matter how much trouble it would put her in, she knew going out to know herself was the best type of lesson for her. She felt like she learned nothing no matter how much her tutors tried to teach her. Or at least nothing interesting. So she went to explore, to forget the fact that she was the seventh daughter of King Triton. She and Flounder went to whichever coral reefs or kelp forests were near at the time, to the edge of the surface to almost feel the sun, to sunken ships if they were near, to the outer confines of the Golden City with grit and dirt in her hair so no one would know who she was.

Today had been just like any of those days. In the market, she heard it, the whispers of other merfolk talking about the Sea Witch, who for the first time in a long time was near. The Sea Witch- banished from the court before Ariel had been born. A dangerous person. An evil person... A person who's magic was something to fear...

Or want.

So Ariel had asked herself, how could someone who was so wanted to be evil? Daddy said she's evil. But he also says that I have to eat black seaweed even though it's nasty and nothing nasty can be good for you! So maybe she's nice?

So she had snuck away the second her governess had been distracted by the actions of her older sisters. Because Ariel had to know, had to simply know how Ursula truly was. Flounder had followed her, her fellow friend, however, had not been happy with her choice of adventure for the day.

But nonetheless, here she found herself, trying desperately to get away from the laughing and magic-wielding Witch, who's magic blazed in light and power that was too much. Ariel hadn't wanted to be bewitched by the Sea Witch. She had only wanted to learn about her, to meet her, but her curiosity finally gets the better of Ariel.

Because she was only a guppy, and the Witch's powers were too great.

AN: So yeah. I own neither the Avengers series or The Little Mermaid. This is just a plot bunny that wouldn't leave me alone. The fact that Disney owns Marvel Studios just made me think of them inhabiting the same universe, and boom, this comes to mind. I know I'm bizarre.

Edit:

6 April 2020

This series will only go through the Infinity Saga, cause I got to cut this off somewhere.
