Chapter One
There were two hidden magical schools that accepted students from all over the world but to even qualify they had to be destined to be among the best of the best. These schools are; The LeFay Institute, and The Academy of Merlin. The LeFay Institute only can be attended by women and the Academy of Merlin can only be attended by guys, as one could see these schools were counterparts of each other. The schools had highly complex and powerful magic that revealed who could attend as soon as they are born, and a new name just revealed itself for the Academy of Merlin and it was Hadrian Potter.
As Voldemort apparated into Godric's Hallow he walked towards a cottage that he was not supposed to see. The family that lived there cast the Fidelius charm over it, the Fidelius charm was meant to keep a certain piece of knowledge hidden using a person as a secret keeper. The secret keeper was the person responsible for being able to keep the secret safe and distributing the information to those who may need it. Unfortunately for the Potters, the family hiding under the Fidelius, that the person they chose as their secret keeper was one of his followers. Voldemort flicked his wand opening the little wooden gate and as he walked through he felt some weak wards wash over him.
'Hm, foolish Potters believe wards like that could stop me, Lord Voldemort!' Lord Voldemort thought cockily. 'Unfortunately for these morons they left some old muggles to guard the house and babies. This is the most absolutely perfect time to get rid of the prophecy child for good.'
Just as a show of power Voldemort sent a low powered Reducto at the door turning it to ashes. Voldemort stepped onto the pile of ashes his senses surveyed what was happening in the cottage; his eyes saw the children's grandparents rushing to get them to safety, his eyes heard the shouting and crying occurring, and his skin feeling the slight cool breeze blowing in.
"Quickly take the children and run Ethel! I'll try and hold him off!" The grandfather tells the now identified grandmother as Ethel. Ethel turns and grabs the baby from where he was playing on the floor.
'Harry must have known that he was coming, he was scared when he ran up the stairs a few minutes ago.' Ethel thought to herself while running up the stairs herself.
"Be safe Nelson, I love you!" Ethel told the grandfather, Nelson.
While Ethel was running away with the baby in her arms Nelson grabs a nearby fire poker and turns back to face Voldemort
"I know that you'll probably kill me, and that's fine by me as long as I can create as much time as possible for the others to escape. I absolutely cannot allow you to harm the children just because-" Nelson starts off saying.
"I should have seen this coming, someone always tries to make a rousing heroic speech. So are you finished? Because I say you are. Avada Kedavra!" Voldemort finished his response with his signature curse, the Killing Curse.
In a shadowed part of the ledge at the top of the stairs Harry was watching everything occur. He just watched his grandpa Nelly die because of the bad guy, Harry knew then that he had to protect his baby brother Charlus, or Charlie as he called him. Harry hurries to his room when the bad guy begins turning around to go up the stairs.
As Harry sneakily exists his room he watches his grandma's last moments facing off against the bad guy. Harry was an exceptionally smart kid and though his parents didn't know he knew he knew why the bad guy was after his family.
As Voldemort was about to turn into the nursery he sensed a powerful magical being in the hallway. Turning his head back towards back towards the hallway in the direction of the other bedroom he sees Harry.
"Bad guy no hurt baby Charlie!" Harry yells at the bad guy and runs towards him and manages to kick him in the shins. The kick to the shins did not even register to Lord Voldemort as flicks his wand sending Harry into the wall.
"Such a shame to kill one so powerful, but I must make sure that I am completely immortal to ensure my reign." Voldemort says to Harry, but mostly to himself. Harry manages to stand back up, he won't cower to the bad guy. "You have much more potential than your baby brother, better take you out first. Avada Kedavra!" As Voldemort launches his curse he looks towards Charlus, but at the last moment he sees his rebounded curse strike him out the corner of his eye.
Harry slumps to the floor exhausted not noticing the blood flowing down his face from a newly formed lightning bolt scar on his forehead. He does notice a piece of rubble caused from the magical rebound strike Charlus and forms the shape of a V on his right cheek underneath his eye.
James and Lily were at a meeting for the Order of the Phoenix. The Order of the Phoenix was created by the headmaster of Hogwarts Albus Dumbledore, he recruited people that he believed would be a benefit to the cause of fighting Voldemort. Dumbledore was right for many of his selections for who should join, the wrong person that he selected was also suspiciously absent from this meeting.
"Voldemort believes that he has won the war so he and his followers will be getting cocky, and that will be an advantage for us, with cockiness comes mistakes. So, onto everyone's roles and positions-"
Lily, the wards have fallen around the cottage!" James suddenly exclaimed to his wife.
"Oh Merlin! The children, let's go James!" Lily replied to James while rushing out of the room. James immediately started following her out of Hogwarts where the meeting was being held.
"Frank and Alice go check and make sure that Neville is okay. Somebody alert the ministry to what has happened. Sirius meet us at Godric's Hollow and set up a perimeter with the rest of the available Order members." Dumbledore said maintaining his sense of calm knowing that panicking would not help anybody.
James and Lily Potter apparate on the street outside their cottage in Godric's Hollow and immediately rush inside the house. They notice that the door has been reduced to ashes, and then when they look inside the room Lily notices her father, Nelson, laying on the floor. Lily rushes over to where her father is and checks for a pulse which is absent on his still warm body indicating his death, Lily starts to cry before James gently pulls her off to look for their children and see if they're alright. James and Lily then run up the stairs and see Ethel laying on the floor and Harry slumped against the wall. Knowing what happened to Nelson downstairs they presume Ethel and Harry, well James presumed. Lily went to check both pulses and was saddened even more when her mother Ethel was indeed dead, but before she could check Harry's she got distracted by James' shout of joy.
"Lils! Charlus is alive! He has a cut on his right cheek that's bleeding, but other than that I think he is okay!" James exclaims.
Lily enters the room after hearing that and forgetting about Harry for the moment. As soon as she enters the room and walks over to Charlus another person enters the room behind her. The person was Albus Dumbledore.
"Is it possible for me to examine baby Charlus here?" Albus asked the married couple. "I want to see if it will give me a picture about what happened here?" Seeing the couple nod their heads in permission he cast a couple of complex and obscure scanning charms and finally one healing charm. Suddenly Sirius Black enters the room.
"What's going on in here?" Sirius asked seeing everyone else gathered in the nursery room.
"Ah well I was about to tell James and Lily that baby Charlus here is the one the prophecy spoke about, he is the boy-who-lived. I believe that Charlus' grandmother's love and sacrifice for him made the killing curse rebound back to Voldemort. However, I fully believe that Voldemort is not truly dead and that he will return one day and as such Charlus will need training in the future." Albus had a mini speech about what happened and what he believes will happen.
"Okay, but what about Harry? Will he need training as well?" Sirius asked the group, mainly Dumbledore though.
"Oh! Harry I forgot all about him when James started shouting about Charlus. Is he okay, Sirius?" Lily asked.
"There is a cut on his forehead that is bleeding, but it is slowly stopping." Sirius replied to Lily's inquiry "It's healing so it probably doesn't need a healing charm, but casting one won't hurt."
"A healing charm is not necessary nor warranted if the cut is healing nicely. There is probably nothing wrong with the cut, most likely caused by some debris." Dumbledore interjected after casting some more diagnostic charms. "I will stop by again tomorrow so that things have cooled down a bit and we can discuss Charlus' training for when he is older." Albus immediately left after that to formulate a plan for Charlus.
Time Skip-Next Day
Albus has come up with a plan for Charlus that he could discuss with James and Lily, however he has no idea with what should be done in regards to Harry. The diagnostic charms he cast told him that he does have magic, but not very much so he will be very magically weak. Albus then figures growing up normal will be good for Harry, not everybody is meant to be great and powerful.
Apparating to the cottage to see if the Potters were still there, which they weren' decided to check Potter Manor next, to his pleasure they were living in Potter Manor. He apparates just outside the wards and walks up to the doors, once he gets there he knocks a couple times so they know he is at the door. After waiting for about a minute the door opens and Lily beckons him inside.
"Sorry about making you wait Headmaster, but Harry refused to put clothes on and James is now trying is hand at it." Lily told Dumbledore.
"Now Lily how often do I have to tell you it is Albus, after all you no longer attend Hogwarts, and I like to believe that we are friends. And I understand that getting toddlers into clothes are one of the great challenges of life." Albus told Lily while the two wait for James to finish up with getting Harry dressed. Thirty seconds later James came down carrying Harry into the room.
"Lils Harry here agrees with me that I am the best parent ever, bask in my glorious parenting skills." James jokingly said to Lily.
"Oh yeah, and what did you bribe him with?" Lily asked James no believing him for a second. It's an extremely useful skill when married to a prankster like James.
"Flying!" Harry replied instead of James. Harry absolutely flying and it was his favorite thing to do, but Lily didn't let him fly often because it scared the hell out of her.
"As much as I love watching scenes like this, we do unfortunately have a lot to talk about." Albus interjected seeing that the conversation may take longer than needed. "And I don't believe it wise that Harry be here to hear this conversation."
"Okay, Harry why don't you go play with your toys in the other room?" Lily asked Harry. Seeing him nod and run off to the room with his toys Lily motioned for Dumbledore to continue.
"Young Charlus will need training from a young age in order to make sure he is truly safe. You see I do not believe Voldemort is dead merely defeated, temporarily stalled if you will." Dumbledore gravely states to the Potter parents.
"What about Harry, will he be needing training as well?" James asked concerned for his eldest son.
"As Harry is not as magically powerful as his younger brother I believe that waiting until he starts learning magic at Hogwarts. However, there is a chance that he will get jealous that Charlus is learning magic so I recommend asking Petunia to raise Harry." Dumbledore states.
"Like hell we'll do that! We will raise him and make sure that he knows that we love him as much as his brother, even if he is not as powerful as his brother." Lily Potter fiercely states.
"I didn't mean to cause any offense Lily." Albus tells Lily. "I am just letting you know that there are other options and no one would fault you for it with the burden you have on your shoulders."
Time Skip four years
Harry and Charlus were ironically born on the same day, but thankfully for Harry they were born almost twelve hours apart. Harry was born around noon and Charlus was born close to midnight. Today was both of their birthday, and no one seemed to even notice that it was Harry's birthday as well. Including his parents.
For the first year and a half Harry's parents went above and beyond to show Harry that they loved him as much as Charlus. Harry knew that Charlus early on that apparently Charlus was special because he defeated the bad guy that came to his house that night. Harry knew that it was actually him that defeated the bad guy, but he kept that fact to himself because he didn't want to seem like he was desperate for attention.
There were a bunch of people visiting Potter Manor to celebrate his little brother, Charlus' birthday. There were family friends, politicians, professors, prominent business people, and even star quidditch players. No one was there to visit Harry exclusively like there were for Charlie, however there were some kids that were older than Charlie and decided to hang out with him instead. They were; Bill and Charlie Weasley, Nymphadora Tonks, and Hestia Jones. Many people would say that these four people were his best friends and they would be correct, these people just stuck by him no matter how rude he was to them. And Harry was rude to them, incredibly rude, but they just remained by him taking the brunt of his actions and words saying that's what friends are for. This birthday party was no different, Harry even tried being more creative with his intentional rudeness to his friends listening to what the book he found in the Potter library said about etiquette, but he just couldn't shake them off.
"Listen Harry, we are your friends and like it or not you're stuck with us." Hestia Jones told Harry
Harry just turned his head away from her and grunted as if saying that their opinion didn't matter to him. And when Charlie mentions the group of them playing a game of Exploding Snap he followed them and eventually played with them. Eventually the night ended and when all his friends left Harry felt oddly sentimental and even missed them a little bit, not that he would ever say so.
Time Skip Four Years
It was once again Harry's birthday, he was turning eleven this year. Out of his four best friends Hestia was the one that was the same age as Harry. Hestia kept going on and on about how she received her Hogwarts letter and how excited she was to go. The rest of the Potters are at a professional quidditch game for the Falmouth Falcons which they had season tickets for. Harry's friends did not know this, nor did they care because the flooed to Potter Manor earlier that they day so they could all hang out and possibly go to Diagon Alley to shop for their school supplies together. Although suddenly there was a knock on the front door to the Potter Manor, so Harry told a house elf to tell the person that Charlus and his parents aren't home.
"Young Master Harry the lady says she is here for you." The house elf, Rilsey, told Harry.
"Ah, it must be what I ordered, I forgot that they delivered in person. You guys don't mind waiting for me to wrap up some business, do you?" Harry asked his friends.
"No Harry, you go do whatever business you have to we will wait for your Hogwarts letter here." Bill answered for the group.
-Scene Change-
Harry walked into the entrance hall to meet his guest only to be momentarily stunned as he takes in a beautiful young woman standing there. She had straight brown hair, hazel eyes, and perfect smile when she noticed him.
"Hello, what can I do for you Miss…?"
"Chanel St. Clair, Heir Potter."
"Pleased to meet you Miss St. Clair." Harry said as he brushed his lips against her knuckle. "Is there something that I can help you with?" Harry asked finishing up.
"Actually I am here on behalf of the Academy of Merlin, we are a school of the exceptionally magically gifted." Chanel told Harry.
"Okay, maybe somewhere a little more comfortable is more appropriate for this conversation. Follow me so we can talk in the Parlor." Harry kindly told Chanel.
"Thank you, Heir Potter." Chanel told Harry following him through a side door and into the formal parlor. "Now as I was saying I am a representative on the behalf of the Academy of Merlin which is a school for the exceptionally magically gifted."
"Please call me Harry, and how come I have never heard of the Academy of Merlin? Is it a new school being set up?" Harry asked Chanel
"Thank you Harry. You have never heard of it because we try to keep out of the public eye, educating students is our main and by far largest priority. The Academy was founded by Merlin himself after seeing what the founders had built with Hogwarts. Morgana also built a school for herself at the same time as Merlin, they decided to split their schools by sex; men go to Academy of Merlin and women go to the LeFay Institute. Merlin and Morgana built the schools on land only previously found and explored by Vikings, in more blatant terms one school is in the United States of America and the other is in Canada." Chanel explained to Harry.
"Okay that is interesting. So what is your position there? And what kind of stuff will I be learning there?" Harry asked Chanel because he was brimming with curiosity.
"I am your student mentor from the LeFay Institute, the students go to recruit other students because we have found that it works better than sending an adult that the prospective recruits cannot relate to. And in the first three years you will spend your time learning muggle subjects during the weekdays and during the weekends you will learn your beginning magic and whatever you deem necessary for your survival lessons. After the three years the weekends will largely be devoted to useful magic to know when in the wild, and the weekdays will be the advanced magic of your choosing. Some of the advanced magic are; Arcane Magick, Druidry, Magic Control, Occlumency, and Legilmancy. There are many others to choose from, if it can be taught it is taught here." Chanel told Harry.
"Alright. This sounds like a dream come true, and a logistical nightmare. What's the catch?" Harry asked slightly suspicious. "This isn't one of my brother's pranks again, is it?"
"No it is not a prank Harry. The catch is that we would have to leave right now and not return until you graduate because school continues non-stop. Fortunately for new students the middle of July to when school starts back up in the middle of August is a giant survival test period unless you are a new student, like you, or a mentor, like me."
"Well I better tell my friends that they should head to their homes because I have decided to enroll in the Academy of Merlin, how much is tuition anyways?"
"Tuition is not a factor at either of the schools, they run on donations from some very wealthy alums. And I will wait here for you after you inform your friends, I recommend against telling them about the schools." Chanel told Harry before he left.
-Scene Break-
"Hey guys, I know that this business stuff was originally supposed to take a few minutes but it is taking longer than I expected…" Harry trailed off noticing that the room was empty and that his friends left him a note.
Hey Harry,
We have decided to let you conduct whatever business you have to do without worrying about us. We also don't want to get you in trouble with your parents for having friends over when you are home alone.
Sincerely,
Bill Weasley
P.S. You owe me for getting the girls off your back.
-Scene Change-
"Hey apparently my friends left so I could conduct the business I said I had to do in peace." Harry told Chanel and then immediately after an owl flew in with his Hogwarts letter. "Huh I guess I won't be needing this anymore." Harry smirked as he wandlessly and silently caused the letter to burst into flames.
"Harry are you going to continue going by Harry, or are you going to go by something else?" Chanel asked Harry
"I think I will go by Hadrian from now on." Harry replied asking to be called by his formal first name.
Harry told Rilsey to gather some essentials he needed to take to school with him. Chanel had told him what he would need because they would be getting a lot of supplies from the local wizarding village and some from the muggle town as well.
Author's Note:
I have no idea who I want for pairings yet.
If you want to see some pictures of what I wanted the characters to look like then let me know and I will figure something
Also I would like to acknowledge that I know in true canon Harry would definitely not be overlooked by his parents for a younger sibling. And there will be flashbacks showing more of Harry's childhood along with redemption arcs.
