Elena POV
Elena Gilbert leaned against the front door of her apartment, tears and dried blood streaking down her face. How was she back? Elena knew for a fact that Sam and Dean had vanquished her years before. Elena had covered her mirrors and windows, any reflective surface, and huddled against her door.
She'd been responsible for so many deaths, though none human, and Bloody Mary punished those who'd killed. Elena didn't know how to kill her on her own, and the only ones she could go to were… them.
The 28 year old hadn't seen them since she walked out 3 years ago. She didn't really want to see them either. Three years ago, Elena had walked away from her husband and her best friend, had cut off all ties with the supernatural. She'd never told them why. She could barely bring herself to think about it even now. It was just too painful.
Elena was sure he hated her, certain they both hated her. Would they even help if she went to them? How could you stand to help the person that had left you behind? How could you still want to see them?
Yes. She decided. No matter what Elena had done to Dean and Sam, they'd still do anything to defeat the monsters that hid in the dark.
With that in mind, Elena set off to her car. It was only when she checked the rear view mirror twenty minutes later that she realized driving was a bad idea. That damned ghost stared back at her, and Elena quickly looked away. Let's just hope no one decides to tailgate me.

It was about a two hour drive to Sioux Falls from Elena's home in Pierre, South Dakota. She'd stayed close to home just in case something like this happened to her. That way, the doppelganger would at least have Bobby to rely on.
Speaking of her old friend, maybe he would be the only one at his house and she'd get lucky. Bobby had to know how to kill Bloody Mary if Sam and Dean did.
Elena's mind wandered to her ex-husband and his younger brother, and her fingers absentmindedly traced her tattoo that kept demons from possessing her. Dean had been the one to take her to get it, when they'd gotten engaged.
Elena Gilbert had never been happier than at that moment. Not an hour after becoming engaged to the love of her life, they'd gotten in his black Chevy Impala, a 1967 model, and driven to a tattoo parlour to finally get her a tattoo that was essential to have. It was official that she'd be a part of hunting with the Winchesters from now on. Elena felt bad that she couldn't tell Sammy right away that she and Dean were engaged. Her best friend would want to know immediately, but Dean was adamant about her getting the tattoo as soon as possible.
"Dean, slow down!" She laughed as he pulled her out of the car that was now parked in front of Bobby's house in Sioux Falls. He turned to her with a huge grin on his face, pure joy lighting up his features. Elena herself was excited, but was managing to keep her cool. But at Dean's look, she herself was bouncing up and down excitedly.
"Come on! I wanna tell Sammy and Bobby!" He'd been like this since she'd said yes, and Elena loved that she made him this happy. She looked down at their intertwined fingers, looking specifically at her ring. It wasn't huge or gaudy, but it was Dean's mother's ring, and that made it even more beautiful.
She looked back into his eyes, being encased by a wave of love and warmth, and kissed him. "I love you." She mumbled.
"I love you, too."
Elena blinked away the memory and parked the car, realizing she'd reached her destination. It was time to see Bobby, and hopefully only Bobby.

The hunter opened the door a crack, checking to see who was knocking on his door, and was shocked to see a girl that he viewed as a daughter. Elena hesitantly smiled and fiddled with her necklace, which now held her engagement and wedding rings.
"Hey, Bobby…" She trailed off slightly, before pulling a silver knife from her boot and cutting open her forearm, before taking a packet of salt and swallowing it. Lastly, she grabbed a flask filled with Holy Water from her purse and drank it.
Seeing it was really Elena, Bobby quickly opened the door and pulled her inside, hugging her quickly before pushing her away to look at her. Elena smiled at the man, but frowned when she caught sight of a mirror in the front entrance to his home. Her eyes began to seep blood at the ghost was reflected back to her, and the young woman looked away, wiping her eyes.
"As much as I'd like to catch up, Bobby, that's not why I'm here. I have a problem, and I need your help."
He nodded and walked off for a minute, returning with a towel in his hands and two men following closely behind him. "What's wrong, Lena?" He asked, handing her the towel to wipe her face. Elena was about to respond, but looked at the taller of the men and teared up.
"Sammy," Her eyes then met with a pair of green ones that she'd always loved so much. "Dean. I hoped you wouldn't be here." She then looked away from them, and back to Bobby to answer his question.
"I wouldn't have come back, but this is important. Monsters aren't supposed to come back after they're killed, and one did." Elena looked into the mirror once more, accidentally, and sobbed at the woman staring back at her, forcing her eyes to bleed and her throat to close up.
Turning back to Bobby, now crying, she gasped out. "She's back."
Dean POV
Three years. It's been three years since Dean had heard her voice. Not a day has gone by that he hasn't missed her, dreamt of her, needed her. Elena.
When he heard the brunette's voice talking to Bobby, he'd thought he was hallucinating. Why would she come back? Why would she want to come back? But still, Dean felt hope rise in him as Bobby returned, whispering for them to come to the front door with him, before grabbing a cloth and walking back out.
Dean and Sam quickly followed suit, wanting to know if it was really Elena, or if they had gone insane. His breath caught at the sight of the woman in front of him. She was just as beautiful as the day he'd met her, even more beautiful, he'd say. Well, he would say if not for the drying blood on her face, caking over more blood and tear stains.
He watched as her chocolate eyes first went to his brother, and she whispered his name, her eyes glistening, before turning to him. Dean very nearly gasped at the look of… love? In her eyes. "Dean." She finished, and he wanted nothing more than to sweep her into his arms and never let her go again. Unfortunately, that tiny piece of hope that had unfurled in his chest at the thought that she'd come back for him shattered when she spoke her next words.
"I hoped you wouldn't be here." She'd addressed the both of them, but Dean felt her words pierce his heart, and fought back tears that wanted to fall at her statement. Her eyes moved from his, and he closed his eyes, willing back the tears. His eyes flew open at her next words. What did she mean, one came back?
He noticed as she looked into the mirror and sobbed. Blood began to pour from her eyes and she began to grab her throat, obviously unable to breath. Dean moved towards her immediately, pausing briefly at her words. Who was she?
Noticing the love of his life was still in pain, he put those thoughts aside and rushed to her, pulling her into his arms and looking into her eyes, trying to get her to calm down.
"Elena, Elena it's okay. I'm here Baby, it's okay." He murmured to her softly. She stopped choking and buried her face in his chest, her tears and the wet blood staining his grey t-shirt, not that he cared. He stroked her hair softly, placing a kiss to the top of her head and keeping his arms wrapped securely around her.
Dean looked at Bobby and Sam, and saw the shock on their faces at Elena's reaction to looking in the mirror. Dean slowly put the pieces together. The mirror, the blood falling from Elena's eyes, the choking; suddenly Dean knew what Elena was talking about. He looked to Sam and Bobby.
"I won't say her name, not when she's so obviously tormenting Elena, but think of it. The mirror, the blood, the choking… It could only be one monster." Sam and Bobby's eyes widened in realization, and Sam frowned.
"But… we killed her, Dean. She can't be alive. It's impossible. We broke the mirror, and she killed herself." Dean nodded, but knew that it was possible, very possible.
"Think, Sammy. Both Heaven and Hell want us dead, and have the power to bring back anything they want. What better way to hurt us than by torturing and killing the one woman that we both love and care about more than anything?"
Sam frowned but had to agree. "So even if we kill… her again, there would just be others?"
Dean nodded. "Most likely. But we still need to kill her. Because I will not let Elena die. If there are more, they'll die too. My wife will not be hurt by the supernatural again."
Dean kicked himself for his slip up. They weren't married anymore. She wasn't his wife. It pained him to say it, but it was the truth. If Elena took notice, she didn't act on it, just snuggled deeper into Dean's chest, her sobs quiet and small now.
It pained Dean so much to see her like this. He couldn't bare it. "The first thing, is to cover anything that reflects. Mirrors, windows, anything. I'm not going to put Elena in danger. Then we need to kill this bitch again, permanently."
Dean the stood up, Elena still clinging to him, and brought the brunette to what used to be their room, where he laid her down gently on his bed. He was about to leave when her voice called him back.
"Stay, please?" How could he resist that? Dean climbed into bed with her and wrapped his arms around her waist, holding her against him. When her breaths evened out, he allowed himself to sleep.

The chapel was filled with people. Most of those people were Elena's family and friends, but Dean had Bobby, Jo, Ellen, and Castiel in the front row of one side of the church, with Sam standing beside him. Lilies were everywhere throughout the church. They were Elena's favourite flower, and because of that, Dean had wanted them for their wedding.
The groom frowned suddenly as panic set in. The wedding would begin any minute now, but what if the bridal party came, but with no bride? What if Elena didn't show up and just left him? Oh God! What if she wasn't there?
The music started up as the priest joined the brothers at the front of the chapel. First down the aisle came Elena's bridesmaid, Jenna, who was also her aunt. She was accompanied by Elena's uncle and a fellow hunter, Alaric. Next came Bonnie, one of Elena's best friends and a witch, with her boyfriend, Jeremy, who also happened to be Elena's brother. Finally, Caroline, Elena's maid of honor, walked down the aisle on the arm of Klaus Mikaelson, her husband of a year.
Dean held his breath, half afraid she wouldn't show up, but exhaled when he saw her walk towards him slowly. She was a vision. Her hair was curled perfectly and was pinned in a half-up, half-down style. Her strapless white dress was tight until her waist, and then flowed out into a small train. She was perfect, as she'd always been. Her beautiful brown eyes sparkled as she looked only at him, and he smiled at her, taking her hands in his and whispering to her, "I love you."
The sermon was long and kind of boring. Dean couldn't wait to say his vows and then say 'I do'. He just wanted to be married to Elena.
When the priest finally asked for their vows, Dean looked right into Elena's eyes, and spoke the words that flowed out of him.
"Elena Marie Gilbert, you are the light of my life. Before I met you, I was surrounded by a darkness. I cared for no one but Sam and myself. You taught me to love, and to see the good in life. You are the most perfect being to walk this Earth, and I will always love you, no matter what."
"Dean Jonathon Winchester, you are my rock, my saviour, my knight in shining armour. I have loved you since that first day in the park. I know you say I'm the angel who saved you, but really, you saved me. It hasn't been easy, but it also hasn't been boring. You give me passion, adventure, and even a little danger. I love you, Dean. I always have."
They exchanged rings and I do's soon after. Soon, Mr. and Mrs. Winchester were on their way to their honeymoon.
They were happy for four years after that, until something changed. Dean never knew what it was, but Elena did.
