AN: I haven't written any FanFiction in a long time, so it might take me a little bit to get back into the swing of things, but I just started One Piece and couldn't help myself from writing this idea out. Pairing and other things about the story are currently TBD but I do have a rough idea of how the beginning/backstory of this story will develop. If you have any criticisms or things that you'd like to see from the story, please let me know. I'm writing this story with the hopes of getting back into the swing of writing as I prep some original content (which I'll end up promo'ing here at some point) and also just to be entertaining so feel free to suggest and comment stuff you'd like to see.
Additional Note (6/4/2021): I'm reserving the right to adjust some of the ages of the characters. I always felt a little weird the fact that Robin was in her 30s post timeskip. It shouldn't have too much of an effect on the story besides a slight age shift.

As the dust settled in the aftermath of Kaguya's last attack, only three shadowy figures remained standing. Around them, bodies were strewn around like dolls, blood pooling on the ground in an ocean of crimson. Shinobi and Zetsu, regardless of allegiance, all laid on the ground—unconscious or most likely, dead.
"You still alive...Sasuke?"
"Right back at you, Naruto."
The third figure, a beautiful woman with long, white hair and horns jutting out of her forehead, floated down from her place in the sky. She opened her eyes to reveal her pale, lavender orbs and above that, her third eye which shone an angry red.
"The era of shinobi is now over," she said with calm fury.
Naruto glanced around him, gritting his teeth as silent tears rolled down his face. He held back the fury that was building in the back of his throat as he glared at Kaguya. Sakura...Kakashi-sensei...everyone… I'm sorry.
"Naruto…" Kurama, the nine-tails, started.
'They're not dead.' Naruto thought.
"Naruto, I—"
'They're not dead, dattebayo!'
Kurama said nothing more, but gazed around the sewer—Naruto's mindscape. The walls were shaking as deep cracks appeared along the faded walls. The water below him trembled, almost seeming to boil.
'Then why is your soul crying, Naruto?' Kurama thought sadly.
"Surrender your chakra to me," Kaguya ordered, snapping Naruto back to reality. Sasuke glanced toward Naruto who had his head bowed, eyes covered by his bangs.
"Then you will be first," Kaguya muttered before reaching her hands out toward Sasuke. Sasuke gasped when he felt a crushing pressure as if a heavily weighted clamp had been hooked to his neck. He gritted his teeth and tried standing upright, but his knees buckled, sending him crashing down to the ground.
'Amenotejikara,' Sasuke thought, trying to use his Rinnegan to switch places with Kaguya. He waited for the familiar pull and prepared to reach for his katana, but the pull never came. Startled, he opened his eyes and found that neither he nor Kaguya moved an inch from their positions.
"Foolish children," Kaguya gritted and she clasped her hand tighter as Sasuke began choking on the weight placed upon his neck. "All things began with me, and all things will end with me. The era of shinobi is now over!"
"Sasuke! Let him go!" Naruto shouted desperately. He put his hands together and gathered a screeching ball of wind chakra while sharpening his Truth-Seeking Balls into long spikes. "Fuuton: Rasenshuriken!"
The ball of wind chakra and spears together tore up the ground as it crashed toward Kaguya. It made contact—the spikes digging deep into Kaguya's body while the Rasenshuriken ballooned to a storm of wind blades that tore Kaguya apart. She was sent flying into a mountain of debris, and Naruto crashed down to his knees, exhaustion finally taking over. After fighting the Zetsu for days and fighting Obito, Madara, and now Kaguya, it was a miracle that he was still conscious.
"We did it, dattebayo. Sasuke, we did it—"
Naruto grinned and looked at Sasuke to see his reaction, but Naruto's grin dropped. Sasuke was stock still, his hands still frozen mid-air trying to claw at his neck. Trails of blood led down from his mouth, dying his purple coat crimson. His eyes were rolled back in his head, no sign of life in them anymore.
"Sasuke…?"
Naruto stumbled toward the kneeling Sasuke with tears streaming down his face. "This isn't funny, dattebayo. Wake up!"
He waited for a reaction, but Sasuke didn't even twitch his fingers. He stayed there on his knees, mouth open in silent agony.
Naruto's shoulders shook. "We need to get back to Granny Hokage and the others. You wanted to become Hokage, right? We still haven't settled things between us."
No response.
"Naruto…" Kurama called.
"Hokage. I need to be Hokage. I need to be..." Naruto started but trailed off.
"Naruto?"
"Kurama, what is a Hokage?"
"You're asking that now? After dreaming for all these years?" Kurama asked, shocked.
"Hokage. Isn't that such a selfish dream?"
"What kind of question is—''
Kurama's eyes widened, and in a futile measure, he forced as much chakra that he could muster out of Naruto and formed his own corporeal body. The body was only about the size of a dog, much smaller than his original form due to exhaustion, but it served its purpose. He glanced toward Naruto, who was still staring at Sasuke's limp body with his head bowed down.
"Naruto—"
Suddenly, Naruto's head snapped up and Kurama reeled back. Naruto's eyes, which were normally a bright, reflective cerulean, were clouded over by an icy haze. His face was stone cold as if all emotion had been drained.
'Madara? No, Indra?' Kurama thought in shock. Naruto's expression was a perfect mirror of them. A mirror of their faces before...
"Naruto, calm down. You still—"
"I'll do it myself, Kurama."
"What—"
"I'll erase the shinobi era from history myself."
AN: Hope you enjoyed the first chapter! Next chapter should be pretty interesting with the story now progressing toward the One Piece elements of the story.
