Hey readers! This a new story I decided to start. I felt the last one wasn't going anywhere and decided to start fresh with an idea I like a whole lot more. This chapter is a little short but I promise the rest will be longer. Those of you who stuck with me on the last story thank you and I hope you enjoy this one!
-An Unknown Stranger
I do not own Avatar:The Last Airbender
IN THE ERA BEFORE THE AVATAR, WE BENT NOT THE ELEMENTS, BUT THE ENERGY WITHIN OURSELVES. TO BEND ANOTHER'S ENERGY, YOUR OWN SPIRIT MUST BE UNBENDABLE, OR YOU WILL BE CORRUPTED AND DESTROYED
It had been years since the great lion turtles words echoed to Aang on that faithful day. As the years passed the powerful creatures words seemed to fade from importance with the belief that they were to not be headed once again.
As the Avatar grew so did his strength and will for peace as the four nations were now at balance. He had fulfilled his destiny thus allowing him a time to reap the benefits of his own hard work.
Now at eighteen years old and a fully realized Avatar what more did the world have to offer but the bestowment of time with the love of his life and his strong friendships.
Now a content airbender lay with his love at the end of another fulfilled day. The moon gleamed through the window casting a light shadow upon the waterbenders face. The airbender gazed upon her pleased with the fact that for once the universe seemed to be aligned. The lion turtles potent message seemed to only drift farther into the reaches of the Avatar's memory. It would be ignorance that played a part in the young avatars fall from grace.
Katara awoke to the sun's light breaking through the curtains and groaned with displeasure. She pulled the sheets back over her eyes and brought her arm to the right of her in search for her other half. Feeling that the space which once held her husband was empty she pulled the sheets down and blinked the drowsiness away.
Clattering and shifting echoed from the kitchen and after a moment she could smell the scent of toast and eggs that followed. The waterbender brought her legs to the side of the bed and stood with a stretch. She pulled a robe over her night attire as she made her way to the kitchen.
"Good morning, wife." Aang smiled as he placed a plate of food on the table. Katara grinned at the sound of Aang calling her "wife" as they had just married a week prior. It would take no getting used to since she had been waiting to marry him for years.
"What is this all about?" Katara asked as she observed the food. "It's our honeymoon, we have cooks to prepare meals for us." She added softly.
"What I can't cook for my wife?" He raised a brow with a smirk. He sat beside her with his meal before adding, "I sent away the staff for the day so we have the place to ourselves." He smiled.
Katara grasped her husbands hand and looked to him with adoration. "And what do you have planned for us today then husband?"
It was a feeling sweeter than the air hearing Katara call him husband. He knew he was set on marrying her the day he opened his eyes and saw her outside the iceberg.
"I was thinking we could walk the beach, maybe explore the town, and then..." he looked away mischievously causing her to blush. She stood and kissed his cheek as she grabbed both their plates. "Let's get our day started then." Katara replied gently. He smiled at her response and stood to help her cleanup.
Katara dressed into casual water tribe attire while Aang dressed also in his air bending garments. Katara's dress consisted of a blue dress with a white sash wrapped around her waist and her betrothal necklace Aang had made around her neck. Aang's attire consisted of a yellow shirt, tan pants, and an orange sash draped across one shoulder. Whenever they entered the town they were easily recognizable but it didn't stop them from presenting their native elements. There was no longer a need for hiding disguised in another nations clothing.
Just as Aang planned, the two betrothed walked across the beach hand-in-hand before entering the town. Once there, they were greeted with congratulations and gifts from local store owners. It was nearly sundown by time they exited the town. The couple had decided to have dinner in the town before departing back to their vacation home.
Aang lifted Katara up suddenly bridal style and once again carried her through the door causing her to giggle in amusement. He placed her gently onto the bed and stood but before he could do so she reached up and grasped his neck to pull him back down with her. Their lips met with an unceasing passion that carried on through the night.
When they both had grown tired and began drifting to sleep Katara layed against Aang's chest and smiled with content. Aang's eyes remained closed as held her close. "Aang..." Katara's soft voice spoke.
"Hmm?" His eyes remained closed as he listened. "Promise me we will always be this content." She pleaded gently.
Aang opened his eyes and leaned so he could meet eyes with his wife's. "I promise." He kissed the top of her head and fell asleep with no echo of the lion turtles warning in mind.
The darkness thus continued to grow and corrupt the heart of the blissfully unaware Avatar.
