A/N: I was inspired to write a fanfic because my SO said my communication skills sucked (lmao), so SO suggested that I keep a blog to write my thoughts down (I was pretty meh about the idea, too lazy to write).
SO also casually mentioned maybe writing a fanfic. At first I wasn't too keen but the idea grew on me. Bumblebee has been my OTP since I started watching the show when it first released in 2013 LOL. I read so many Bumblebee fanfics that year. I've stopped reading the past few years, but I thought it would be good to try my hand at writing, so here I am.
This is my 1st fic ever, constructive criticisms are welcome! Feel free to contribute any ideas you may have. I've written quite a number of chapters as a draft already, but nothing is set in stone. Hope you enjoy :)

Blake was taking her evening shower, enjoying the sensations of the warm water cascading off her back. Recently, she had gained a newfound appreciation for the high water pressure of the showers at Beacon University's dorms as finals were quickly approaching, and her shoulders had more knots than usual after hours of poring over her psychology textbooks. Another reason why Blake loved showering in the evening is because of the privacy she would get; there was usually no one else using the showers at this time, so the usually reserved girl could feel free to sing to her heart's content.
"I wasn't dreaming when they told me you were gone, I was wide awake and feeling that they had to be wrong..."
Meanwhile, Yang walked into the bathroom, ready to shower after her workout. She just started hitting the gym again after her long Christmas break at home stuffing her face with the scrumptious feasts Tai whipped up as well as gorging on cookies with Ruby. Feeling winded from the intense workout after sitting on her butt the entire break, she couldn't wait to get into the shower so she could relax straight after. As she entered the bathroom, she was greeted by a beautiful singing voice that was at once mesmerising and yet somehow familiar.
"Alllwaaays cloooseeer to the emptiness and sadness that has come to take the place of you!"
Yang headed into a shower cubicle and listened intently to the melodious singing. However, when Yang turned on the showerhead and started massaging the water into her scalp, the melody suddenly died down as the water from the other stall stopped as well. Assuming the mysterious singer was about to leave the bathroom, Yang couldn't pass up the opportunity to compliment her.
"Hey! I don't mean to interrupt, but you have a really beautiful voice."
Silence.
"Um… I'm Yang by the way. Do you stay on this floor as well?"
She waited awkwardly for a few seconds until she heard the main bathroom door close quietly. It was clear that Yang was now alone.
"Huh, strange…" Yang thought to herself while resuming her shower. Perhaps the singer felt a little self-conscious? She decided to shrug off the incident and redirected her thoughts to the looming pile of work waiting for her.
Blake was mortified. She couldn't believe she let herself get so caught up in her singing that she didn't hear anyone coming into the bathroom! And here she had always prided herself on having ultra-sensitive hearing. Blake mentally kicked herself for being careless. Singing had always felt sacred to her; while in her daily life she had to fit into society's expectations, singing was something she did solely for herself. Had she not gotten carried away and heard someone coming in, she would have stopped immediately. Now that person had not only heard her sing, but even talked to her! Blake's heart was racing. As an introvert, she often kept to herself and only ever exchanged pleasantries with her floormates. However, she did have an unlikely trusted friend in Beacon University, Weiss Schnee. The pair met in their high school choir and have been good friends ever since.
Blake took out her Blackberry and started typing a text message to Weiss. "Weiss…. Someone heard me singing in the shower and actually talked to me. I am so embarrassed."
Bzzt, bzzt. Weiss replied almost immediately "Hello, Blake. You're usually more conscientious than that. What happened?"
"I was just singing by myself while showering alone in the bathroom… I didn't hear anyone enter. But suddenly I heard the water running in another stall and just as I was about to make my escape, that person said I've a really beautiful voice. I was shocked and didn't reply, but she continued talking and introduced herself as Yang… Have you heard of her?"
"You don't know who Yang is? She's in my Real Estate class. The oaf somehow just bums around in the gym all day yet had the highest amount of sales in our cohort last year. I don't know why people nowadays seem to be so easily sold by superficial beauty instead of genuine competence!"
"Um. Okay… No, I've never heard of her. Crap, here I am trying to keep a low profile and the most popular and successful girl in Real Estate has heard me sing?"
"Excuse you. She is certainly NOT the most successful. That said, you shouldn't concern yourself over her. She's not worth your time. You didn't respond to her, did you?"
"Yeah yeah, I know you'll outsell her and be the reigning Queen of Real Estate, Weiss. And no, I didn't reply to her…. anyway thanks for hearing me out. I'm going to study now, I have my Developmental Psych paper tomorrow."
"Sure. Good luck!" Seeing Weiss' last message for the night, Blake shut off her phone.
She started going through her notes from Fundamentals of Developing Psychology 8th Ed. "When a baby reaches 2 months old, they will start to experience…experience…"
"You have a really beautiful voice."
Damn it Blake! You've got to focus! The paper is tomorrow. Taking a deep breath to clear her mind, Blake doubled down on her revision, determined to ace the paper tomorrow and not think about the voice from her earlier unexpected encounter.
A/N: End of chapter 1! Let me know what you think :)
