Hey guys, Liz here. So, I've decided to go back and do some revisions to the story. I definitely think I've improved on my writing since this story had started, and I want to fix the earlier chapters that definitely could use more work. So if this is your first time reading the story, welcome! I hope this chapter revision gets you excited for the Son Squad. Let's go!

The Son Squad Ch.1

Peace on Earth had been a thing for almost five years. No major Earth-shattering battles have occurred since the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament and the fight between Goku and Piccolo Jr. Sure, there were still issues every now and again, but nothing that would require the services of the Z-fighters. Besides, most of them hadn't really kept in contact with each other since the days of the tournament. However, they all knew that if trouble ever occurred on Earth again, they would all come together to defend their home.

Speaking of which….

Anyway, currently, Goku was making his way out in the woods, looking for the perfect tree. His search took him to the middle of the woods until he found just the tree he had been searching for, one that towered above the rest. With a swift punch, the young man was able to knock it to the ground with ease. "This is perfect," He said as he picked it up and carried it on his shoulder. He'd cut it up as soon as he got home.

Speaking of home, a young Chi-Chi was walking around with a small baby girl in her arms. The child couldn't have been any older than six months with black hair reaching her ears, black eyes, and a small little monkey tail swinging behind her. She was wrapped in a little red blanket as Chi-Chi held her. The young woman in question had a worried look on her face as she came outside. "Gohan! Chiyo! It's lunchtime!" She called out.

The baby girl in her arms cooed at the sound of her mother's voice and reached up towards her, a big goofy grin on her face. Chi-Chi giggled and kissed the little girl's cheek. At least she knew where one of her kids was.

Suddenly, Goku emerged from the forest with the tree he had punched in tow. "Goku, there you are," Chi-Chi remarked as she saw her husband, relief coming to her. Surely, he would know where his two other children were. "Have you seen Gohan and Chiyo? It's lunchtime."

"Lunch? Oh boy, I'm starved," Goku stated with a big grin on his face. Chopping down trees would make anyone hungry, and his wife's food was always delicious.

"Didn't you hear me?! Your son and daughter are missing!" Chi-Chi snapped at Goku for a moment before calming down, remembering the six-month-old in her arms. "They must've wandered off while I wasn't looking."

"Don't worry, Chi-Chi. I'll go look for them," Goku assured his wife before turning to look at the sky. He wasn't too worried about the twins, seeing as the woods weren't really that dangerous. (Even with all the wild animals and dinosaurs running around it looking for something to eat). "NIMBUS!"

A moment later, the flying Nimbus came and stopped right in front of Goku. He still had this thing after so many years and he hoped to pass it onto his children when they were older. The young man soon hopped on the cloud and flew off to look for his two elder children.

Gohan and Chiyo watched as a bird was sitting in front of them, sitting on top of a log in the woods. It was perfectly perched there for the two small children to see. The two children's monkey-like tails swung back and forth freely in unison with one another. "Wow, it's so pretty up close," Gohan whispered to his twin sister.

"Yeah," Chiyo nodded in agreement.

If you looked at the two from afar, you would think that they were practically identical. However, upon further inspection, one would find that the young boy had slightly shorter hair than his sister, whose hair reached nearly to her waist and was in a lovely braid. Both wore similar outfits, but their colors were different; the boy had a yellow top with green sleeves and green pants while the girl had on a more gold top with purple sleeves and purple pants. Both sported red caps, with the boy having the four-star dragon ball glued atop his while the girl had the three-star dragon ball glued atop hers. Other than that, they were practically identical.

Suddenly, the bird they were watching began to fly away. Both children reached up to grab it, but the sudden movement shook the log free of its spot and caused it to roll down the hill and into the river with Gohan and Chiyo still atop it. The twins soon pop both their heads out of the water and gasp for air. "Daddy help!" They both shouted out in unison as the log rushed down the river.

Hearing his children's cry, Goku had Nimbus rush to the scene, and he soon found Gohan and Chiyo clinging to the log for dear life. "Gohan! Chiyo!" He called out to the two. He tried to reach down to grab them but noticed a cave coming up down the river. He couldn't reach them in time and had to go up and around the mountain to get to them. He got to the other side and was shocked to find the log falling down the waterfall pouring out of the cave. "Gohan! Chiyo! Where are you?!" He momentarily feared the worst. Gohan and Chiyo still hadn't learned to fly, let alone properly swim, and who knows what would happen to them considering the fall from that height. How could anyone survive a fall like that, let alone two children?! (Well…..)

"Daddy! Help!" A scream from above shouted.

Goku stopped in mid-air and looked up the waterfall to find that Gohan and Chiyo were crying on a branch from above. They both were like that for a minute and didn't see Goku floating up on Nimbus to get them. They just continued to cry for help until they both realize their Father was there. Upon seeing Goku, the two jumped from the branch and into their Father's open arms.

"Oh, Daddy, it was so scary!" Gohan cried into Goku's chest, clinging tightly to his Father's shirt.

"We thought we were gonna go over the waterfall!" Chiyo sobbed as well, also clinging to Goku's shirt.

Goku comforted the two children and patted them both on the back. He was relieved that they both were okay but kept a cool composure so that they would feel better. "It's okay, you two," Goku calmed them. He looked down at the waterfall raging below and up at the branch. It was a pretty big jump to get up there, and these two had somehow managed such a feat at the ages of four. "How'd you two get up here?"

"Uh, we don't know," Gohan shrugs, Chiyo nodding in agreement. One minute they were going over the waterfall, the next thing they knew, they were on the branch clinging onto it for dear life.

The savior of Earth sighed and looked down at his children with a smile. It didn't really matter right now how they got up there; the most important thing was that they were safe. "Okay, you two, we should get back home. Your Mom was worried sick about you both."

After finishing up their lunch, Goku, Gohan, and Chiyo mounted the Nimbus cloud and prepared to head off to the island of Goku's former teacher. "Goku, you do know that you need to bring the twins back by sundown, right?" Chi-Chi asked, wishing to verify that with her husband. She would've gone with the trio, but felt that such a trip would be too much for little Chinku to handle right now.

"Don't worry, Chi-Chi," Goku told her, smiling in reassurance. "I'll make sure they'll both be home before then." He knew how his wife worried about the twins getting a proper education, but he wanted them to have a little break from all of that. Besides, this was a perfect opportunity to see his old master and friends again, and introduce them to his children.

"Bye, Mommy! Bye, Chinku!" Chiyo waves to her mother and baby sister from Goku's lap.

"We'll see you both later!" Gohan waves as well.

Both children had big grins on their faces that reminded Chi-Chi of her husband, and she smiled back, a bit at ease now. She knew Goku wouldn't let anything bad happen to them. After all, he was just visiting Master Roshi for a little bit. What was the worst that could happen?

"Ba-ba!" Chinku babbled back in her baby talk, opening and closing her little hand as her way of saying goodbye.

They all waved to each other one last time before Nimbus took off to the skies above, all five of them unaware that that would be the last time they would all be together for a while.

About an hour or so later, Goku, Gohan, and Chiyo arrived on Master Roshi's island. Goku picked up his two children resting in his lap and jumped off the cloud with them as they came closer to the island. "Hello? Anyone home?" Goku called out. Surely, someone would be home.

Inside the house, there was movement to be heard. A few moments later, several sets of feet were heard rushing to the door. From the house emerged Krillin, Bulma, and Master Roshi. All three of them smiled when they saw Goku after having not seen him in five years. He looked just the same as they had last seen him.

"Hi, guys!" Goku greeted back, waving while still holding the two kids.

While Goku was acting like nothing was wrong, everyone else was honestly puzzled by what they were seeing. They were glad to see Goku, but they didn't expect him to bring two children with him. Who were they? Krillin was determined to find out what was going on; "So, Goku, who are the kids? You running a babysitting service or something?" He asked. Maybe times were harder than he thought for Goku.

Goku smiled and shook his head. "Nope. They're my kids," He nonchalantly answered.

The others gasped in shock. Goku, with kids?! He had kids now?! "They're what?!" Bulma, Krillin, and Roshi all shouted in unison.

"That's right." Shifting the twins in his arms a bit, Goku placed them both on the ground and in front of his three friends. Both children became nervous at suddenly meeting these three people and huddled close to each other. "Go ahead, you two. Say hello."

"Um, hello," They both greet at the same time and did a little bow of respect towards the three.

"Hello," the three adults greeted back, still coming to terms to the fact that Goku was now a Father.

"Their names are Gohan and Chiyo," Goku introduced the two. "They're twins."

"Gohan? As in your late grandfather?" Roshi realizes upon hearing the name of one of his former students and close friend.

"Yep. It took a while to figure out what names to give them, but Chi-Chi and I were finally able to settle on those names for the twins." Goku could recall how difficult it was to actually come up with the twins' names and all the different ones he and his wife went through before settling on those two.

"Aww, that's so cute," Bulma awed and then walked over to greet the two children who had retreated to hide behind their Father's legs. "Gohan, Chiyo, how old are you?"

Chiyo did the counting on her fingers and held up four of them for Bulma to see. Gohan spoke for both of them, though; "We're four, miss."

"Oh, how polite! You sure they're yours, Goku?" She awed once more. Goku was never like this when they had first met as children. She attributed it Chi-Chi's teachings. However, her eyes widen upon seeing something quite familiar to her swinging behind Gohan; it was the tail. She looked over to Chiyo, and sure enough, she had one too. "They have tails?"

"Yep, just like when I was younger. Pretty wild, huh?" Goku didn't realize what this meant to Roshi, Bulma, and Krillin. When they saw the tail, they could only think of the times that Goku had turned into a giant ape and destroyed everything in his sight. It was terrifying.

"Uh, say, Goku, have you ever noticed anything odd about your kids?" Bulma tried to casually ask Goku while also being wary.

"Odd? What do you mean?" Goku asked, genuinely confused by the question Bulma was posing to him.

"Oh, nothing much, my boy," Roshi joined in. "But, uh, do they ever act weird at the sight of a full moon?" The thought of the twins both turning into giant apes at the same time sent shivers down the old man's spines and made his blood run cold.

"No," Goku answered, not sure what was meant by all this questioning. His kids were about as normal as normal could be. At least, they were normal to him. "And we go to bed pretty early at our place because of Chinku. Why do you ask?"

"No reason!" Bulma and Roshi quickly stated. If Goku didn't know, then why bring it up? They didn't know how they would bring it up, anyway. Could they tell him he was the monster that smashed up the world martial arts tournament? Or, worst of all, could they reveal to him that he was the monster who killed his beloved grandfather?

"Uh, say, Goku, uh, you mentioned someone named Chinku earlier," Krillin said, trying to change the awkward subject. "Who's that?"

"Oh? Chin? She's my other kid. She's back home with Chi-Chi."

"You have another one?!" Krillin, Roshi, and Bulma all gasped at the same time.

While all the adults were talking, Gohan and Chiyo went over to play in the sand. Roshi's turtle followed after them and became a shield for the two when the waves of the ocean came crashing towards the shoreline. The old turtle didn't mind, and just enjoyed having company to interact with.

Gohan soon poked his head up from behind the shell of the turtle and saw a crab on the turtle's back. Chiyo soon looked up too and gasped at the little creature. They had seen it before in books, but never up close like this. Gohan began playing rock-paper-scissors with the crab while Chiyo watched, cheering on Gohan and telling him he could definitely win. When he did win, however, the crab retaliated by blowing bubbles in Gohan's face, causing Chiyo to laugh. The crab noticed this and blew bubbles at her, now causing Gohan to laugh. They both ended up laughing with each other, which warmed the adults' hearts.

After cleaning off each others' faces, Gohan and Chiyo ran up to their Dad, and that's when Bulma noticed the little balls they had on their heads. "Hey, I just noticed that on the top of their hats are dragon balls." Bulma realized, smiling a bit at the little feature on the children's attire.

"Yep. Gohan has the 4-star ball on his hat because he's named after Grandpa. Chiyo has the 3-star ball on her hat, and Chinku has the 6-star ball at home on her dresser." Goku chuckled as he imagined little Chinku at home gnawing on the dragon ball like it was a teething toy.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, Goku felt a huge power level heading towards the island. His smile was replaced by a serious look that told the others that trouble was on its way. Was it Piccolo coming to take his revenge? No, it felt too different to be him. But then, who else could it have been?

That's when a figure came closer to the island and finally touched down in front of them all. It was a strange looking man with strange looking clothes on. Right away, Goku noticed his crazy long black hair going out in all directions and the smirk on the stranger's face. "At last I've found you," the stranger spoke, looking directly into Goku's eyes. "All grown-up, are we? Still, I'd recognize you anywhere, Kakarot. You look just like Father."

"Kakarot?" Goku blinked. What did he say? What the heck was a Kakarot?

"What is the meaning of this, Kakarot?" The stranger questioned. "Have you been distracted by something on this world? Why hasn't your mission been completed yet?"

"Huh?" Goku questioned aloud. "What are you talking about?"

"Look, pal, you better leave right now," Krillin warned. This guy was obviously off his rocker or something. Maybe he was some drunkard or something. "We don't need guys like you hanging around."

As Krillin tried to approach the stranger, Goku began to feel uneasy. Something about this guy screamed DANGER! DANGER! "Krillin, hold on a-" Goku couldn't finish because Krillin was smacked in the face and sent into the wall of the house just as he was getting out his warning. "Krillin!" Goku turned to look at the hole and then at the stranger. Rage was written all over the young man's face. He had come to hang out with his friends, and this guy just decided to go and attack them? "Why you-" He stopped in mid-sentence when he saw that something was swishing around the stranger's body; it was a tail that looked like his own tail that he once had.

The twins took notice too. The mean man had a tail just like them.

"H-He has a tail. Just like the twins, just like I use to have." Goku muttered to himself. There was someone like him?

The stranger still smirked as he looked at Goku. "That's right," he said. "So you remember then."

"Remember what? I don't understand."

"How could you forget, Kakarot? You're one us!"

"What the heck are you talking about?!"

That's when Master Roshi spoke up; "Goku, there's something your grandpa Gohan told me a long time ago that I think you should know." He told Goku and the others the story that Grandpa Gohan had conveyed to him long ago. He explained how Gohan found a baby in the woods with a tail. At first, the baby was too wild and out of control for Gohan. However, when the baby fell into a gorge and hit his head, it almost died. It somehow miraculously survived. After that, the child was as sweet as could be. Then Roshi revealed the identity of the wild-child; it was Goku.

Goku momentarily was silent as he took it all in. His Grandpa wasn't really his biological grandpa. That explained a few things. Still, Grandpa Gohan would always be his grandpa to him, and that would never. But if that was true, that raised several questions, like, where did he actually come from?

"But what does this guy have to do with Goku?" Bulma asked after the story was finished.

"Tell me, who are you?" Goku growled, turning his attention from his master to the stranger.

The stranger, who still smirking, chuckled to himself. "You really have forgotten, haven't you?" The stranger said to himself. "Well, I might as well tell you, Kakaort: you're not of this world. You are no earthling. You are a Saiyan, a part of a proud and strong alien race!"

The others gasped aloud, shock overtaking all of them. Goku, an alien?! It couldn't be! He had to be lying!

"And I am Raditz, your older brother."

Gohan and Chiyo looked between each other after hearing. Their Dad was an alien, and this guy was his brother? How could this be? And what did that make them?

This was earth-shattering for Goku to hear. That couldn't be right. No, this had to be some sort of sick joke! No way could be an alien. That's just not true! He was an earthling!

"G-Goku's got a brother?" Krillin asked with a startled voice. His best friend, the one who always pushed him to be better, was an alien from outer space? This had to be some kinda lie!

"And he's an alien?" Bulma asked. She knew Goku was odd, but never did she think he was an alien. The more she thought about it, though, the more it made sense. I mean, what other human had a tail and turned into a giant gorilla every time they saw the full moon?

"If I'm an alien, then why was I sent here?" Goku questioned, still not believing what Raditz had to say. This so-called brother of his had to be mistaken. This was not right at all. His whole world had been turned upside down on his head.

"That's a simple answer, Kakarot: you were sent here to kill all of the Earthlings," Raditz explained. As he went into detail about Saiyan society and how it functioning, everyone stood there and felt cold shivers run down their spines. Hearing how these Saiyans sent warriors to different planets to kill all the life on those worlds to make a profit made everyone's skins crawl. "This world is no different from others we've conquered. Its populous is so weak that we sent you hear as an infant, Kakarot. And with the moon, you should've been able to take care of business in no-more than a few years. If only you hadn't hit that soft head of yours!"

Goku shook his head. He couldn't stand hearing this guy anymore. How could someone who was supposed to be related to him be so cruel? "That's enough!" he shouted at Raditz, taking the other man by surprise, if only a little bit. "I don't care if I'm some alien, and I don't care if you are my brother. I'm not like you, and I'll never be like you! My name is Son Goku now, so leave Earth alone!"

Raditz chuckled. "Unfortunately, I can't do that, Kakarot." He walked over to the water and picked up a stone that lay in the sand. "You see, I came here for a reason, Kakarot. Your people need you. Even if you did fail here, being the age you are now, you should be able to help us."

"Help you? With what?!" Goku questioned, although he was afraid to hear the answer.

Raditz continued; "Unfortunately, Kakarot, a bit after you were sent to Earth, our homeworld was wiped out of existence by a meteor. Most of the saiyan race was on the planet wen it wiped out. And that includes our mother and father."

He expected to get some kind of reaction from his brother when he told him of his parents' demise, but Goku remained stone-faced. Goku never really thought too much about his parents, so he didn't have any real reaction to hearing that they were gone too. If they were anything like his "brother", he didn't want to know more about them.

Raditz went on; "Luckily for me, I was off-world with a handful of other saiyans. Over the years, our number has dwindled down to four, which includes you, Kakarot. Us remaining saiyans recently found a planet worth profiting from, but even with three of us, the job won't be easy to get done. That's when I remembered you, Kakarot."

Raditz threw the rock Goku's way and the young man quickly caught it with ease.

"Yes, your time hear wasn't a total waste, after all. With you by our sides, we'll be able to finish off the inhabitants of the planet no problem!" The thought of the destruction seemed to excite Raditz and make Goku very uncomfortable. "You were born for this, Kakarot! Imagine the carnage of it all!"

That sickened Goku to his core. No way would he ever do that. He'd never join someone and wipe out a planet full of innocent lives! His brother, no, this monster could pack his bags and forget it. "I'll never join you! Ever! I would never hurt innocent people for a profit. Leave, now!"

"Fine." It seemed Raditz had expected that from his brother. Seeing as how he had acted thus far, Raditz expected Kakarot to act this way. Time for plan B then; "But do tell me something; are those your two children near the blue-haired woman?"

Goku looked over his shoulder at his two children cowering by Bulma. They shook as Raditz looked their way and buried their faces out of Raditz's view. Goku had a bad feeling at where this was going. "No." Goku tried to lie to Raditz.

"Oh please, Kakarot, I can see their tails. Or do all earth children have tails?"

"You leave them alone!"

His threats were in vain, though, because Raditz just tried approaching them, causing the twins to whimper.

"Stop!" Goku growled, getting in a position to fight Raditz. His skills were a bit rusty, but he was sure he could handle this guy. Suddenly, before he realized what was going on, Raditz rushed right in front of Goku and quickly punched the protector of Earth in the stomach and sent him flying into the sand. The force of the attack knocked the wind out of Goku and it took a moment for the pain to register to him. This was unlike anything he had felt before, and it was utter agony. He screamed out in pain and held his stomach as his children left Bulma's side and came running towards him.

"Daddy!" the twins yelled as they tried to reach their Father. Gohan was slightly ahead of Chiyo and they were nearly at their Father's side when Raditz grabbed the both of them from off of the ground. He dangled the two children in the air- Gohan in his right hand and Chiyo was in his left- as they both began crying.

"Kakarot, I'll give you 24 hours to accept my offer, or else your children will die," Raditz threatened. He obviously could care less about his nephew and niece and saw this as a way to convince his little brother to listen to him. If he wouldn't freely join him, he'd join by coercion. "And to prove yourself, I want 100 dead humans by tomorrow. If not, then your children will pay the price."

"What?!" The other adults gasped. This guy was ruthless!

"It's either 100 dead humans, or two dead children. Your choice, Kakarot. But do know this; I don't want to hurt my niece and nephew if I don't have to."

Gohan and Chiyo let out wails of fear, and tears were running down their round cheeks. No one was coming to their rescue. Their Dad was too weak to fight back and the others knew fully well they'd stand no chance against a monster like this. All they could do was watch Raditz threaten the children with harm if Goku didn't give into his demands.

"Using kids as a shield," Krillin growled. He wished he could help the twins, but what could he do against this guy? He knocked him back with just his tail! "You're no warrior: you're a coward!"

"The decision is still his. Whether my niece and nephew die is up to him," Raditz said.

Suddenly, Goku sat up and grabbed Raditz by his ankle. "You," He growled as he tried to glare Raditz town. Every nerve in his body was shot and he could barely move, but he'd be dead before he'd let harm come to his kids. "Give me back….my kids!"

"Daddy, help!" Gohan begged through tears. He wanted to go home.

"I want down!" Chiyo sobbed, not wanting to go anywhere this guy.

Raditz simply kicked Goku's hand away. "You better make the right decision, Kakarot." That's when he rose into the air with the crying children. "And don't make the foolish thought that you can defeat me. You'd just get yourself killed!"

"Daddy!" the twins screamed as Raditz flew away with them. They wanted down now. They wanted their Daddy. Above all, they wanted to go home.

"Gohan, Chiyo!" Goku yelled as his children disappeared with Raditz. This couldn't be happening!

Gohan and Chiyo have fallen into Raditz's clutches. Will our twins be okay? Will Goku be able to rescue them? Find out next time on, the Son Squad.
