Amber Auclair was born on October 1, 1989. Unlike most births that day, her mother hadn't been pregnant before the time of her birth. She was one of the 43 children born under the strange phenomenon. Amber's mother was part of a circus as a lion tamer and her father ran the traveling circus as a ringleader. From her birth, her parents knew their child was special. When Amber cried, flames would widely grow and sometimes she would spit fire from her mouth when she was fussy. Reginald Hargreaves planned to take Amber at any cost when he visited her parents in Paris, but her father knew what he had. Even though he thought Amber's mother had either cheated on him or kept the pregnancy a secret, he wouldn't let this man have his daughter. Though he was fueled by greed, he knew Amber's powers would make his circus the hottest tickets in the world and refused to part with his daughter. Reginald had even offered large sums of money to the parents but they wouldn't budge on their decision. He knew the child had potential but she would be wasted as a circus performer.

From the time she could walk, her parents exploited her gifts and forced her to practice day in and day out. They imagined many things for her to do such as making animals from the flames to roam the ring during her acts to using her flames to melt elaborate sculptures of varying materials like cheese, chocolate, and steel. They even made her use her powers for elaborate fireworks displays after a long night of performances and pushed her to her limits, which to Amber was engulfing her body to be completely on fire; a feat which always resulted in her body giving out for days at a time. Amber had done what she was told so that she could please her parents and support the circus. She loved her powers but hated how they were a burden and not the gift she wanted them to be. Amber wanted to leave but knew she wouldn't be strong enough on her own. She dared not to use her powers against people since she didn't want to be perceived as a monster her parents told her she was. It was of course when she protested that they called her that but if she could, she could burn this whole place down and kill almost everyone here…well almost anyone.

Her only friend was an elderly woman name Maude. She had violet eyes, long grey hair, and plenty of wrinkles on her face. She was the circus' fortune teller and her predicts were eerily spot on to the patrons she gave them to. She was warm, kind, and brought happiness to the young girl. She was kind, sweet, and really took a shine to the girl; aiding her in education, etiquette, dance, but most of all; gave her hope in the darkest of times. Her father forbade Amber to see her countless times, but she refused since Maude was the only person who saw her as a human and showed true compassion. By all counts, Maude was like a surrogate mother and a friend in one and the only person that kept her remaining at the circus.

Amber herself was truly stunning powers aside with her striking amber brown eyes and fiery red hair. Her lightly tanned, slender yet toned body from her training with the trapeze and gymnastics personnel added to her beauty . She was rather tall for her age, had long lashes, and rosy lips truly made her a crowd pleaser to most people. The one thing about herself she loathed was a tattoo her parents branded her with at age eight; a dagger stabbing the planet Saturn on her shoulder blade. This made her feel like she was part of a cult rather than a family who was supposed to love her. What parent would force a child to brand a mark against their own will just to forever connect them.

One night after a show when Amber was 15, she noticed a man with a monocle was in her small cramped tent in a room. He looked over at her and scoffed, seeing how the girl turned out exactly how he thought.

"You did a decent show, sad this is what your parents wanted of you. You could have been a hero, a celebrity, now you're just a simple carny doing simple tricks for families and investors." he told her.

Amber summoned flames from her hands and glared at the man. He hadn't been the first man to be in her tent before and seeing how he leered at her only made her tempers and fire flare even hotter and brighter. Private shows were something she never liked but seeing how even her father wasn't here made this man with the monocle even more threatening to her.

"I don't know what you're doing in my room, monsieur, but I'm not that type of girl. To think my father would stoop this low for money." she cursed with a slight French accent.

The man rose from his seat and shook his head.

"I'm not here for anything of the sort. Just thought I would tell you that you're still thinking small with your powers. Tell me, do you want an escape? What am I saying, of course you do."

"Echapper?" Amber questioned in French.

He nodded.

"It is rare and unlikely, but you might be able to travel with your fire powers across space and time when a fire is going. Ever thought about that?" he asked.

Amber seemed hopeful at the prospect but still glared at the man. He was teasing her on a desire she longed for. She worried about when she would eventually escape what it would mean for Maude. Would she stake her own freedom and desire over her only friend. Amber longed to runaway from the circus, but where could she gone since the circus was all she'd even known. Based on his words however, she recalled how a man wanted her when she was born. This had to be the same man and if he wanted her, why not just say it outright, making Amber very mad.

"You're the milliadaire that wanted me as a child. Why not just take me now if you're so keen?"

He chuckled as he stared at the orange, red, black, and yellow sequined dress she wore. Too much of a free spirit yet caged here, how moronic. Still even if he did take her, too much time had passed and his team was already beginning to fracture. Adding her wouldn't make a difference now and might even hinder them even more.

"It's far too late to train you for something other than the circus. However, you still have a use for me even if I don't take you. Think about what I said about time and space with your flames. If anything, express your desires five times before making your fire temporal jumps." the monocle said as he left her room.

Full of wonder and hope, she went to Maude's tent for their usual night talks and evening fortunes. They talked about the Monocle man and Maude didn't discourage her from his thoughts. Amber liked that Maude respected her as a human and not just a fire starter like her parents. Still feeling restless from what the man told her, Maude told her fortune. Unlike most nights, Maude saw something very distinct that almost horrified but amazed her.

"Your mind and spirit are heavy I see child." Maude expressed.

"Aren't they always Maude. It feels like you're the only thing keeping me here. My family only sees me as a tool for the circus." Amber told her.

"I know child, but your powers are growing and you've yet to reach their potential. Have you been practicing the skill I inquired about?"

"You mean reading fires to see into my future? Yeah but it all just seems like smoke to me. I mean maybe I can but it's possibly just not in my wheelhouse." Amber told her.

Maude nodded as she got out her crystal ball. Amber's eyes widened and glimmered as she watched the crystal. Maude looked into the crystal ball with a slightly worried expression.

"What's wrong?" Amber asked.

"Child…your fire is going to take you places beyond what you can imagine. You will leave this place but there will be a steep cost to your freedom. Destruction, fire, and pain is ahead. However, if you stay here; your soul will never be happy and your inner fire for life will be snuffed before you become a young woman. Someone is awaiting you child and they will complete you in ways you can't even begin to comprehend. You shall not worry about me dear child and seek out your freedom." Maude explained.

This had been the first time Maude said this in a very serious tone and not just as a hopeful friend. Her mind flooded with questions since her heart's desires were to be free and to be loved.

"Where will I go? Will I meet someone? Maybe a lover? Is he handsome and kind? Please tell me more!" Amber exclaimed.

Maude was about to answer the young teen's questions when her down was bashed down. Her father was there with the sword swallower and the strong man of the circus. Her father glared at his daughter and back to the old fortune teller.

"What have I told you about filling my girl's head with lies and deceit you old hag!" he yelled.

"They are not lies. You shouldn't be allowed to be the child's father for what you make her do! I do not care if you're my boss, Amber deserves better than to be your mule and cow!" Maude yelled.

Amber's father, Hank, shook his head and growled.

"Yet you're no better wasting her time. You've been warned far too long Maude and if you won't listen to reason, threats, or even the money…this has to be the way for you both to understand how I run things." Hank said.

Strong man Jeff grabbed Amber so tightly and forced her to watch as the sword swallower Jack cornered Maude in her room. Maude didn't bother to run, she didn't look afraid, she only looked to a tearful Amber.

"Amber my child. You can set yourself free. Embrace the fires in your heart and leave this place. I'll always be wanting you my dear…"

Jack slashed his swords in a flurry of ways, chopping Maude into several pieces, including severing her head off her body. Amber shouted and cried as she tried to muscle out of Jeff's grip. Tears fell down her face knowing that her only friend was gone, dismembered and her blood spilling to the floor.

"Have Sandra get the lions, jaguars, and tigers out, they will be feasting good tonight." Hank ordered Jack.

Something within Amber just snapped as she inhaled deeply. Her inner fire courses through her and she breathed out fire from her mouth, badly burning Jeff as she made her escape from his grasp. She shot fire balls at Jack to make him fall to his knees and conjured a sword of fire.

"This is for Maude!" Amber screamed as she motioned the sword to stab and burn into his heart. The sword thrusted him over and over until Jack slumped to the ground and his body slowly burned.

Hank looked horrified as Amber glared coldly at her father.

"I'm your daughter no more. This circus shall not stand and I shall not be here any longer." Amber stated.

Amber summoned waves of fire around her and closed her eyes. She was enveloping herself into a round sphere of fire. She clenched her fists and tears streamed from her face. Thinking back to what the man in the monocle said she started to chant 'Anywhere but here, anywhere but here, fires of the world, any time or place, take me somewhere anywhere but here' five times.

"W-What are you doing Amber!?" Hank yelled.

The fire sphere was growing wider around her and Hank made a quick sprint outside but it was far too late. Amber's sphere of fire exploded and enveloped the circus in flames. Most people and animals were able to get out except for Jeff, Hank, her mother Sandra, and the remains of Maude. Nothing remained of Amber but a charred circle on the ground when she conjured the sphere…at least that is what everyone thought at the time.
