Uzu Sanageyama tapped his foot impatiently as he waited for the elevator to reach its destination. Why the hell was the thing so slow? They could afford state-of-the-art weaponry and vehicles but couldn't fix a damn elevator? He'd been filing complaints about the slow elevator for what had to be years, but no one had taken him seriously. Now it would make him late for the Student Council meeting.

Well, it wasn't entirely the elevator's fault. He had to admit he got a bit carried away at kendo practice. Not like that was his fault either, kicking loser ass was just too much fun.

The quieting of sounds from the machine parts informed him that he was almost at the top. Uzu pulled his report, written in brail, out of his jacket pocket. A quick skim with his finger reminded him of what was on it.

Just freaking perfect. Not only was he late, he'd have to break the bad news to Lady Satsuki. The elevator's doors opened, and he stepped into the Student Council's chambers.

Both his fears and expectations were confirmed, the rest of the council was already there.

Jakuzure smiled at him smugly while lounging from what was practically a mountain of stuffed animals.

Gamagoori stood rigidly in place with his arms crossed, shooting him a disapproving glare.

Inumuta didn't even turn his head, continuing to stare and type away at his laptop. Apparently Uzu wasn't even worth his attention.

And of course, Lady Satsuki sat in her throne, her butler Soroi pouring her a hot cup of tea. He put on his best confident smirk and sauntered over to the couch. To really sell the illusion that he wasn't afraid at all, he laid his feet on the table as he sat down.

"So, it looks like the monkey decided to join us after all," Jakuzure snarked.

So she was going to be just as annoying as always. Uzu had to restrain the urge to knock her hat off with his shinai. While Satsuki hadn't technically forbade the Elite Four from fighting each other, he could tell she wasn't in the mood for technicalities.

"It's all right Jakuzure, all that matters now is that we can start the Student Council meeting." Satsuki reassured her. "Let's start with the club reports. Sanageyama, why don't you go first."

Uzu swallowed nervously as he stood up to deliver his report. He was downright furious when he received the news, he couldn't imagine how Satsuki would react.

"In the last week, the Athletic Committee has lost fifty four one-stars and sixteen two-stars to Matoi. In return, we've only gained a mere twelve one-stars," he reported.

Seventy of the students under his command had been stripped of their titles, and that wasn't the only thing they were stripped of. He knew many of them personally, even considering a few of them to be his friends. Learning that they were getting sent to the slums because of Matoi did not make him happy.

Satsuki gave a slight nod at his report and gestured to the other Elites.

"The Non-Athletic Committee reports similar numbers, new girl took out forty five one-stars and twenty two two-stars last week, though we do have a few new club presidents submitting approval forms," Jakuzure replied, her tone suggesting that she considered the meeting a waste of time.

"THE DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE HAS HAD TWENTY SEVEN ONE-STAR GOKU UNIFORMS DESTROYED BY MATOI!" Gamagoori bellowed.

"The Information and Strategy Committee lost twelve one-star uniforms and one two-star Goku Uniform," Inumuta said, still typing away at his laptop.

All four of them braced themselves for Satsuki to berate them for their failures, but it never came. If Satsuki was upset by the news, she sure didn't show it. In fact, a thin smile crept across her face.

"I see. Thank you for your reports, this is excellent news."

Excellent news? What the hell?

"How the hell is this good news?" Uzu exclaimed in shock. "We're losing hundreds of uniforms every week to Matoi and because we have to stay here and make sure she doesn't get too out of hand, we haven't taken a single city!"

"KNOW YOUR PLACE SANAGEYAMA! DO NOT QUESTION LADY SATSUKI!" Gamagoori roared. "But with all due respect my lady, I have to agree. I fail to see the benefit of regularly losing a large number of troops."

Satsuki's smile widened. Clearly she knew something they didn't. Uzu respected her and her ambitions a lot, it was pretty much the only reason he agreed to serve her, but all the secrets still kind of annoyed him.

"What is the purpose of Honnouji Academy?" Satsuki asked. The question was rhetorical, all five of them knew their mission by heart.

"TO PROTECT HUMANITY FROM THE LIFE FIBERS, NO MATTER THE COST!" the Elite Four shouted in unison. Satsuki smiled at their response.

"Yes, that is our ambition, but not everyone at Honnouji shares our goals. As our little experiment with Mankanshoku proved last week, the vast majority of two-star students are loyal to us only because of the money and power we provide them with. Or more accurately, the money and power she provides them with. When we make our move, I fear many of our students will defect to the enemy when they realize they won't be afforded the luxuries they receive now." Satsuki explained. "The two-stars were useful tools in conquering Japan, but as of now they are only a liability."

So that's what she was planning. He had to hand it to the boss, she was always thinking two steps ahead.

"I get it now, you're using Matoi to get rid of potential traitors before they actually betray us," Uzu realized.

"Not only that, but the combat data Matoi provides is simply incredible. We're able to make two-star uniforms that are on average 531% more powerful than the ones made without the combat data from Matoi!" Inumuta added. "Mankanshoku's Fight Club Goku Uniform had a power output comparable to the original Blade Regalia and even exceeded my own Probe Regalia. At this rate, we may be able to produce Goku Uniforms as powerful as a Kamui."

"Precisely. And it's the combat data that brings me to you four. Tomorrow morning, Honnouji Academy will unveil its first Naturals Election. Students will be given the freedom to attack whoever they please and take their uniform. At the end of the week, the five students with the most victories, which will almost certainly be you four along with Matoi, will fight each other in the finals." Satsuki announced. "This is why I've ordered you to hold off on fighting Matoi until now. Iori will be standing by to record every moment of battle so that we may improve your Goku Uniforms."

"Wait, if you think we'll all get a chance to fight new girl, then that means you think we're gonna lose!" Jakuzure started to realize.

"Yes I do," Satsuki said bluntly. "Do not worry though. Loss can be a great teacher, provided you have the resolve to learn from your mistakes. One of you is living proof of that. To be honest, I would be surprised if any of you managed to defeat her. You are dismissed."

The other three Elites didn't look too happy with Satsuki's assessment, but Uzu had to agree with her. If Matoi found a way to beat him, she'd have no trouble with those other chumps.

He seriously doubted that Matoi would be able to beat him though. She didn't even touch him the last time they fought. Unfortunately, he hadn't been able to finish the job, but now he'd finally get to settle his rivalry with Matoi!

Uzu couldn't help but smile wildly. He stood up to leave, eager to get down to the gym for some training. Before he could leave however, he picked up the unmistakable scent of fear from Inumuta.

"Lady Satsuki, I'm afraid we won't be able to have the Naturals Election," Inumuta said quickly. "The Espionage Club has just picked up a transmission from REVOCS!"

"What does it say?" Satsuki inquired.

"It's heavily encrypted. The only thing we've been able to decipher is that they intend to send an agent, whoever that is, to inspect Honnouji Academy. It doesn't specify when, only that it will be within the next month," Inumuta replied. "REVOCS has never stepped foot inside Honnouji Academy for three years. You don't think she's onto us, do you?"

"No," Satsuki shot down the possibility. "We haven't done anything to put our loyalty to REVOCS into question yet. This is likely just because they've detected that we're losing more Goku Uniforms than usual. Unfortunately, this does present us with quite the problem."

"Why's that? Couldn't we just reschedule the Naturals Election?" Uzu asked.

"Rescheduling the Naturals Election is an inconvenience, but the real problem is dealing with Ryuko Matoi." Satsuki responded. "We can't let REVOCS know of her existence or more importantly, her Kamui."

"Hold on, this isn't about your plan to use new girl as some kind of a secret weapon is it?" Jakuzure interrupted.

"You should know by now that Ryuko Matoi has the potential to be a valuable ally," Satsuki responded. "Or a dangerous enemy. We can't take any chances, we need Matoi off the island for at least a month."

"We could always suspend her," Gamagoori suggested. "She's broken almost every rule we have by now so I doubt she'd be too surprised. Then we could set her up to be transferred to another high school and just wait out the inspection."

"That's easier said than done big guy," Uzu pointed out. "It's not like there's a school for baby-sitting superpowered teenagers we can just ship her off to!"

"Well, there is one place," Inumuta chimed in, turning his laptop around for the rest of the Student Council to see.

"Ew! No way!" Jakuzure fake-gagged. "We're not sending new girl to smily trashbag's old school!

"Smily trashbag?" Uzu asked. One of the downsides to his Shingantsu was that he lost the ability to see what was on a screen. However, there was only one person he knew who fit that description. The only hero he had yet to defeat. "Oh hell no!"

"I know it's not ideal, believe me when I say I loathe them as much as the rest of you, but think about it," Inumuta sighed. "None of the schools in Honnouji's territory are properly equipped to deal with Matoi. If we send her to one of them she'll be right back here before long."

The other Elites scowled, but they all knew he was right.

"I suppose that settles things," Satsuki spoke up. "Inumuta, arrange for Matoi's enrollment. Gamagoori, please inform Matoi of her new arrangements."

At the top of Honnouji Academy's massive walls, a girl with short black hair with a single red streak was eating her lunch in peace. She was Ryuko Matoi, a sixteen year old transfer student attending Honnouji Academy for her first year of high school.

It had been about a month since she first arrived at Honnouji with the goal of finding her father's killer. While she was no closer to getting that information, she had been having quite the adventure. Finding a living sailor uniform that drank her blood, fighting a totalitarian military dictator and her cronies, and whatever No Tardies Day could be called. Fortunately, this was one of the rare moments she could take a load off and just enjoy herself.

The sun was shining, the croquettes Mrs. Mankanshoku made were delicious, and the Garden Club's newly regrown garden was the perfect place to eat them. Of course, her best friend Mako Mankanshoku was there with her, shoving so many croquettes in her mouth that it made her look like a chipmunk.

There wasn't much she wouldn't do for Mako. It felt like it was only yesterday that the two of them refused to fight each other, sacrificing a life of luxury for their friendship. Probably because it was yesterday.

Ryuko smiled as Mako showed off her bulging cheeks, saying something that she couldn't understand due to all the croquettes. Not that she'd understand her anyway.

Nothing could ruin this for Ryuko. Not even the nude and unconscious bodies of the seven club presidents who foolishly tried ambushing her.

This moment was perfect. In fact, it was a little too perfect. And that never went well for her.

"RYUKO MATOI!" Ira Gamagoori shouted, his massive body completely eclipsing the sun over her.

"What the hell do you want?" Ryuko grumbled, not bothering to look up from her lunch. "Let me guess, it's 'No Lunch Day' and we don't get to eat unless we run on a giant hamster wheel for eight hours!"

"Is it really?" Mako asked. "I always wanted to run on a giant hamster wheel!"

"No Mako, it was a joke," Ryuko sighed.

Gamagoori scowled even more than usual. "ENOUGH OF THIS NONSENSE! RYUKO MATOI, THE DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE HAS DECIDED TO HAVE YOU SUSPENDED FROM HONNOUJI ACADEMY INDEFINITELY!" Gamagoori roared, his size increasing.

Ryuko's apathetic expression morphed into a furious scowl. Now that would be a problem.

"Suspension? What the hell did I do?"

"SPEAKING OUT AGAINST LADY SATSUKI AND HONNOUJI ACADEMY, REFUSING TO COMPLY WITH THE STUDENT COUNCIL, USING THE ONE-STAR BUS WITHOUT PERMISSION, USING THE CABLE CAR WITHOUT PERMISSION, AND STARTING OVER ONE HUNDRED FIGHTS ON CAMPUS!" Gamagoori answered.

Alright, so he kind of had a point. If anything, she was actually kind of surprised it took this long for her to be suspended. But she wouldn't be able to fight Satsuki's goons if she was suspended, which meant she wouldn't be able to get any closer to finding out who killed her dad.

"Hold on! You can't just suspend Ryuko!" Mako shouted out, striking her signature pose. "She needs to go to school so she can learn! Right now she's like an empty basket, just waiting to be filled up with the fruit of knowledge! Are you going to stand in the way of education? Because that would mean you're stopping a student from learning, which means that you're breaking the rules! And as Disciplinary Committee Chair, you have to punish people who break the rules! Which would mean you'd have to punish yourself!"

Ryuko wasn't exactly sure what just happened, but she was a little hopeful. Mako was able to convince Gamagoori to let her wear pajamas to school that one time. And she was even the one who made her realize how to synchronize with Senketsu.

Unfortunately, Gamagoori just shook his head. "I'm sorry Mankanshoku, but this is beyond my authority."

So she'd have to do this the hard way then. Ryuko held the pin on her Seki Tekko, ready to let her blood flow into Senketsu at a moment's notice. If she couldn't go to school, then she'd just fight them all right here and beat the information out of Satsuki Kiryuin herself!

"Ryuko, let's think about this," Senketsu interrupted. "We barely escaped with our lives the last time we fought an Elite. Do you really think we can handle all four of them and Satsuki Kiryuin?"

How could she forget? Sanageyama practically broke every bone in her body. Just another score she wouldn't get to settle if she was suspended.

But Senketsu had a point. If the other Elites were even half as powerful, she might even die fighting them all.

"Fine, I'll go back home," she spat.

"JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED FROM HONNOUJI DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU WILL NOT BE ATTENDING SCHOOL!" Gamagoori screamed. "AS MANKANSHOKU SO WISELY STATED, YOU ARE A STUDENT! SO YOU ARE EXPECTED TO LEARN! THE STUDENT COUNCIL HAS MADE ARRANGEMENTS FOR YOU TO BE ENROLLED ELSEWHERE WHILE YOU ARE SUSPENDED!"

"Arrangements? What are you talking about? Where the hell are you sending me?" Ryuko asked incredulously.

"YOU ARE TO ATTEND UA HIGH FOR THE DURATION OF YOUR SUSPENSION! AT THE END OF THE FIRST SEMESTER, THE STUDENT COUNCIL WILL JUDGE IF YOU ARE FIT TO RETURN TO HONNOUJI!" Gamagoori answered.

"Wait, really?" Ryuko snorted. "Like as in UA the hero school? You're joking right?" As Gamagoori's unmoving expression confirmed to her that he was in fact, not joking, Ryuko tried her best to keep from laughing. "No way! You guys are actually trying to get me to go to hero school?"

Gamagoori sighed. "Yes, I know it sounds ridiculous, but I assure you that we do have the necessary arrangements for you to attend UA. All that's left for you is passing the entrance exam, which is in one week, so you better get studying."

"Forget studying, how the hell am I supposed to get there? We're on an island in the middle of nowhere!" Ryuko said.

"As I said, all the necessary arrangements have been made. We've rented an apartment for you in Musutafu, but you'll be sharing it with a roommate. The ferry will leave tomorrow morning so I suggest you start packing." Gamagoori answered, tossing her a set of keys before walking away.

Ryuko stood frozen in shock as the reality of her situation sank in, unable to completely comprehend what she had just been told. Mako waved her hands in her face in an attempt to snap her out of her trance.

"Ryuko? Ryuko, are you alright?" Mako asked her best friend.

"Huh? Oh right, I think I'll be fine," Ryuko answered, still staring off into space.

"Suspended?"

"Transfer?"

"Hero school?"

"Guts?"

Mako's million mile an hour explanation only confused her family, who were now crowding around Ryuko and pushing her against the wall of their tiny shack.

Ryuko tried to make some space for herself as the Mankanshokus tried squeezing more information out from her, but it was no use. Obviously she was more than strong enough to break free, but she didn't want to accidentally hurt them.

Then she noticed Guts and Mataro trying to sneak a peek under her skirt. Alright, forget not hurting them.

With a single stomp onto the floorboards, she launched the Mankanshokus save for Sukuyo up into the air. The three of them hit the poorly constructed ceiling and fell back down the floor, nearly smashing right through it.

"Worth it!" Mataro muttered.

"Guts!" the family's dog groaned in agreement.

"You should be ashamed of yourself young man!" Sukuyo scolded her son. "Ryuko might be leaving us and this is how you say goodbye? You too Barazo!"

Ryuko just sighed, this was hardly a departure from their normal antics. In fact, she almost missed their constant peeping back when Mako was a two-star. And she'd likely miss it again if she went to UA. After all, a hero school probably wouldn't have any students as perverted as the Three Stooges.

"I'm sorry dear, I hope you're not leaving because the boys can't behave themselves!" Sukuyo apologized.

"Oh it's not that ma'am, it's just that-"

"Ryuko's going to become a superhero!" Mako interrupted her. "She's going to a special school to learn how to punch bad guys and save cute girls!"

"What she means to say is that the Student Council suspended me for breaking all their stupid rules, but they're also making me take the hero course at UA while I'm suspended. Which will also mean that I have to stay in Mustutafu," Ryuko explained.

"Whoa! UA High? I hear there's tons of babes who went there!" Mataro exclaimed, peeling his face off the floor. "Mt. Lady, Midnight? If I died sleeping on their laps I'd be a happy man!"

"Wait, how old are you?" Ryuko asked.

Mataro just shrugged.

"Besides that, you must be excited to go to Japan's best hero school!" Barazo chimed in, pushing Mataro back down to the floor.

"Hardly," Ryuko snorted. "They probably just teach you how to pick up garbage off the sidewalk or give jaywalkers tickets, that's pretty much all 'heroes' do anyway. Besides, I've already saved a cute girl," she said, ruffling Mako's hair.

"What? Heroes are super cool!" Mako protested. "Didn't you see All Might punch that slimy guy last year? He punched him so hard he did a rain dance and summoned the weather gods!"

"I'm pretty sure that's not how it worked," Ryuko told her. "And yeah, I admit All Might's pretty cool. But the others? They're practically D-listers who get their asses handed to them by Satsuki and her goons when they're not posing for the cameras."

"You'll see what I'm talking about when you go to Musutafu," Mako huffed. "And make sure to bring me back an All Might chibi plush!"

"I'm sure those things practically litter the streets in Independent Japan, but I'll make sure to get you one."

"I can't believe you're already leaving us! It feels like just yesterday we took you in after saving Mako!" Sukuyo cried. "Musutafu is so far away! How are you going to eat my croquettes?"

"You're the hottest babe I ever knew," Mataro joined in, clutching onto Ryuko's leg. "I'll treasure the photo I have of you sleeping in your underwear forever!"

"Alright, off!" Ryuko shook her leg, flinging Mataro into the wall. "And don't worry about me Mrs. Mankanshoku, I'll be just fine. I'll probably be back before you know it!"

"Well then you better eat up!" Sukuyo said, holding a massive plate of croquettes. "We can't have you leaving on an empty stomach now can we?"

Ryuko smiled as Mako and her family rushed to the dinner table and began messily shoving croquettes in their mouths. As usual, she didn't know what was in them nor did she want to, but Sukuyo always found a way to make them taste delicious.

"Ugh, all this fat! It's practically poisoning your blood!" Senketsu complained. "When we get to Musutafu, I hope you manage to improve your diet!"

"Hey, it's going to be a while before we'll get to eat like a family again, so just enjoy it!" she said, continuing to pile croquettes on her plate. "And I've eaten junk food my entire life and I'm still fine!"

"One of life's great mysteries," Senketsu snarked. "No human should be able to eat like you do and stay fit."

The next morning, Ryuko groaned as she woke up on the dirt floor to the sound of air raid sirens. Also known as Honnouji Academy's school bell. She was never an early-riser, not even a month of waking up at the crack of dawn could change that.

She slipped Senketsu on and put the bunny pajamas she got from Mako into her guitar case. She also packed her phone, wallet, toothbrush, motorcycle keys... and that was it.

What else did she have to bring? That was pretty much everything she owned, courtesy of her father's killer burning her house down. She didn't even have the motorcycle the keys were for.

Mrs. Mankanshoku was already awake, standing over the stove making breakfast. Which of course was croquettes. The rest of the family was crowded around the kitchen table, already stuffing their faces.

"Good morning Ryuko!" she called. "I already packed some going-away croquettes for you, don't want you to miss your ferry after all!"

"Thanks miss," Ryuko managed to mumble, picking up the oil-soaked paper bag. "I guess I'll see you guys at the end of the semester if things go well."

"Goodbye, have a safe trip!" the Mankanshokus wished her. At least, that's what she thought they were saying. Their mouths were still stuffed with croquettes.

Right as she was about to step outside, Mako grabbed her hand and stopped her.

"I'm really gonna miss you Ryuko, but I'm sure you'll do great at UA! You're really good at fighting and your quirk is the coolest!" she said, pulling Ryuko in for a hug.

"Yeah, thanks Mako. I'll miss you too."

Despite what she told Mako and her family yesterday, she was really anything but fine. For the first time in her life she had friends and a family that cared about her. Now she didn't know if she'd ever get to see them again.

She wasn't too sure about what Mako said about her "quirk" though. Sure, her ability to talk and synchronize with Senketsu was certainly unique to her, but it was so different from every other quirk she'd seen. Not to mention that it took sixteen years to manifest.

"Before I met you, I didn't really have any friends, or real ones anyway," Mako continued. "But I like having friends outside my head! So I'm going to try and make as many friends as I can while you're away! You should try making more friends too Ryuko! Can you promise me that?"

"Uh sure," Ryuko quickly agreed without really thinking about what she was saying.

Make more friends? How was she supposed to do that? Mako and Senketsu were the only friends she ever made and that was under... less than normal circumstances. Still, it wasn't like she could deny Mako's request.

"Thankyouthankyouthankyou!" Mako cried out, hugging her best friend so tightly Senketsu almost choked. "Oh my god! It's already 5:30! I'm gonna be late!" she shouted as she took off like a jet, running as fast as she could to the no-star trolley.

Ryuko smiled as she watched Mako squeeze past the crowds of no-stars onto the trolley. She never failed to put a smile on her face.

As busy and crowded as Honnou City's port was, the ferry to Musutafu was completely empty except for Ryuko and the ship's captain. She was actually pretty surprised that there was a ferry to Musutafu at all. Honnouji didn't tend to visit Independent Japan much. At least not diplomatically.

Since she had the entire boat to herself, she laid down across several seats to make herself comfortable.

"I still can't believe I'm going to hero school," she said out loud to no one in particular. "Like I could be a superhero!"

She didn't exactly hold heroes in high regard. They were just a bunch of glorified cops wearing costumes, acting like beating up some purse snatchers made them the messiah. Only for them to fall over like a house of cards the instant they had to face an actual villain.

Even the top heroes did it as well, she remembered one time Kamui Woods literally called some back-alley thug "the embodiment of evil". She got a good laugh out of that one.

"Are you nervous Ryuko?" Senketsu asked her. "We're going to be staying in a completely different city and attending a completely different school."

"What? No way!" Ryuko said. "Heroes aside, UA is just like a normal high school right? If anything, this will be like a vacation from Honnouji's insanity. I'm glad we're getting a break!"

"Whatever you say," Senketsu replied, clearly dissatisfied with her answer.

"I'm serious! Look, it'll be fine. I'll just be going to normal classes in a normal high school. Really, what could go wrong?"

A/N: Welcome to the now rewritten first chapter of Cut from the Same Cloth! This is the first fic I've ever written so I apologize if my writing sucks. I've just had this idea for a crossover in my head for a long time and I thought that I'd finally make my idea into a reality.

As for how the two worlds connect together, life fibers were responsible for the rapid evolution of humanity. Quirks were the result of humanity evolving. You can make the connection.

For the sake of the crossover, I decided to give most of the Kill la Kill characters quirks just so that the two universes would be more connected. It wouldn't really make sense if every character from Kill la Kill was quirkless. These quirks are really just their canon abilities reclassified as quirks, so it won't be too big of a change.

Another change I'm making to Ryuko and Mako is that they are now only 16 and 15 respectively. Ryuko's now a first year in high school like the rest of Class 1-A, so she won't be the only 17 year old in a class of freshmen. I guess I'll finish this first chapter off by giving what I think would be Ryuko's stats! This is just for fun and really doesn't mean anything (kind of like the actual stat book).

Ryuko Matoi:
Power: 6/5 S+
Speed: 6/5 S+
Technique: 4/5 B+
Intelligence: 3/5 C
Cooperativeness: 1/5 E
Losing Her Way: 0/5 F
