From Fun to Tears

The one who used to be Voldemort had time to think, Peter knew what to do. He needed Lucius to help, and he knew how to make him do what he wished. It should be happening right about now.

They were talking. Lucius wanted to go away until the children were ready for Hogwarts. Only the adults were still in Lucius' office when Hermione came in, just appeared, "Draco is sick; he won't wake up, come." She was upset; it was easy to see.

Axel pop in the library, "Sir comes, Missus Malfoy says come fast."

The joyful celebration had turned into a somber affair. Lucius started running when an Owl dropped from nowhere. The scroll unrolled in front of him.

"Our Dark Lord recommends you listen and quit following me. Your son will die unless you are ready to do what you are told. Believe it, your son has a living curse, if anyone other than my Lord tries to remove it, your son will die. If you don't believe our Lord, go and look. Your wife will join him by the time you reach her. Don't look for me, I am not here. PP"

Lucius felt ill, this couldn't be happening how, not when all was going so well. He couldn't lose his Draco or his beloved Cissy.

When he reached the ones around Draco, he saw Narcissa also being carried up to the room. No Apparating; Muctis, the healer advised against it. "What happened?" Lucius asked Jeanie, Hermione's mother.

"The children had been arguing on and off, when Draco dropped to the ground. Within a couple of minutes Cissy fainted as well. What is happening?" Jeanie answered.

Hermione kept calling Draco, "Please wake up, I am your fiancee, dear, please wake up. We will heal you."

Lucius remembered the threat. How could this be happening with the new guards and wolves all around? One of the guests must have helped; he shared his suspicions. It had to be, Pettigrew had not been around. He had a tracker and there were no traces of him.

Gellert said, "I need to leave tonight, this is one of those curses my parents could cure. Let me go."

Hermione was inconsolable, "We didn't obey, is my fault."

Lucius remembered Bellatrix' owl. He wanted to kill her with his own hands, no magic, choke her to death; his eyes filled with tears. He picked up Hermione who was as cold as ice. "Darling, it wasn't your fault, of course not, but you cannot try to heal either Draco nor Mommy Cissy. You must promise. You might hurt them; you might hurt yourself. Promise me." Lucius held on to his beloved little witch, "All will be well."

Peter Grant said, "Gellert come with me, we can be there in no time." Fenrir readied to go as well; he dammed Voldemort. Why had he followed the great beast? Now, one of his pups, because Draco was one, was dying. They day he had a chance, he would close his jaws around Voldemort's scrawny neck and snap it in two.

The undesired Ally.

The Master was looking for Voldemort, he wanted to erase him once and for all. He was very afraid; he had helped Voldemort not to die. He had read a Muggle writer who had explored the idea of Horcruxes. The writer had written about a ring, a Horcrux. So the Master created fake old scrolls explaining how to do it. Since he collected souls, he added that the creation of a Horcrux required a human sacrifice, a murder to make it work. The Master had given Voldemort a minuscule part of him; but large enough that when/if Voldemort got close to the young ones, many things could happen. He need to get close to him, and take his part away.

Dumbledore was next; the Master needed to find his way back into Hogwarts.

From far away he had seen a glow, one he recognized, his enemies were getting stronger. If they found him, he would be destroyed. He needed to get closer, but when he saw where it was, terror seized him. He saw traces of his twin nemesis. The ones who knew his main entrance into this world; they could find him. They had found their cousin. They would remove the curse, and their relatives would recover their powers. They could do much more, he wouldn't stand a chance.

With the Guardians working with the 'Azkaban Angels,' he was doomed. He needed to keep Voldemort away from this place. He needed to get the part of him given to Voldemort before he could do more. Then he needed to get rid of the two of them; to eliminate Dumbledore and Voldemort. Then he would hide for a while. He had a couple of other ways in, more work, but as long as he wasn't destroyed, it could be done.

The Wait

Lucius sat by the beds. He wouldn't let go of his Mimi; he was afraid if let her go, something would also happen to her. He thought of Mimi as his family and couldn't bear the thought of also losing her. He loved Lucinda and all the little witches and wizards, but Mimi was his special love. He asked that the children were closely watched. All the adults sat with Lucius; Mina and Hera, the miniature Fey owls, sat hooting, sadly.

Harry said, "They are sad. They say they can see a black band around Draco."

Nobody paid much attention. Harry hadn't told his parents he could talk to the animals. Maybe they would think he was a weirdo; the insecurity never left him. Nobody heard him but the black dragon who flew away; the dragon needed to consult with his brethren.

Harry decided he needed to lead the Pixies left; they needed to do something. He whispered to his cousins, and they agreed. They paid close attention to every word.

Dobby came, "Sir a guest be wanting to talk to you. He says is urgent."

Remus offered, "I will go, stay here."

"You don't go alone, I will go with you," Grant stood up.

Remus went down, the guests were informed there was something wrong with one of the children. They were sorry, but Lucius had to help, but he said to please continue the party. The mood was somber; everyone wanted to help. Knott had asked if he could see Lucius. Theo said Draco had gone to sleep, when he was arguing with him. He thought it was his fault and couldn't stop crying. Blaise and Greg felt guilty as well. The word was out, Draco was the sick one. Agrippa Pucey and Irina Goyle were with Narcissa when she went down. They told everyone what happened.

Vince, usually obedient, decided to see what was going on. Draco was still his hero, and Vince wanted to see him. He had two heroes, Draco and Mimi; but Draco was it. Nobody paid attention to him when he was gone.

The former Dementors, invisible to others were checking all the guests. Two of the former Dementors hugged each other; glad to see they had escaped. They were Malfoy, or had been once long ago. They were from the French and Russian Malfoy lines. They would destroy anyone trying to hurt the Angels. They thought the Master was behind it, he had helped Dark Lords before. They laughed joyously, when they saw their cousin, sad, but there. Now, they could help, there were three of them, it was the twins fault, jealousy over a cousin choosing someone else as his bride. First they needed to undo the damage they had done; maybe, the young Malfoy could be saved. They knew where the hid the books that might help.

Remus and Grant entered the small drawing room, they were not alone, one of Zach's brothers followed them. To their surprise, they saw Avery. He looked distraught, not his usual self. Yaxley was right behind them. Elly had asked him to help Remus. As soon as he saw Avery, he pulled out his wand. "You helped Pettigrew, it was you, damn you." Yaxley blurted out.

Remus was caught by surprise, he hadn't seen Yaxley. "Rick, calm down, let him talk."

Yaxley was furious; he was sure Avery was the one who helped Pettigrew. "Don't trust him, I told you he is full of hate. He told Evan, more than once, to get a Pureblood witch, that Elly was only good for shagging."

"Please let me talk, you have right to mistrust me. I don't know how to explain it, but, suddenly, I feel regret about my past. I am changed, how did it happen? I have no idea. I mostly regret this," he opened his hand. There was a small vial. "I dropped the contents in Cissy's drink, and gave Draco a chocolate, the kind he likes. I was contacted by Pettigrew, he said to do it for the Dark Lord, only a small scare because Lucius wanted to betray him. I told him I wouldn't do it, and that was it. When we heard about Draco and Cissy, I felt something on my hand. When I looked at it, I remembered what I did, and talking to Pettigrew. I will take Veritaserum, I am not lying. Maybe you can see what is in here. There is some left."

Remus pulled his wand, "No tricks, stay there," he whispered and Zech's brother touched Avery. He went back and whispered that Avery wasn't lying. He also said not to touch inside the vial, and to check it; it was more than a vial.

Grant pointed his wand, the flask flew next to him. He pointed the flask to an empty glass and emptied a few drops left inside. Grant could see things others couldn't. Then pointed the wand again and propelled the flask to the fire. They heard someone cussing. Remus said, "That was Pete. The flask is a communication device. We need to see what was in the flask."

Avery sat down, "I don't know; I don't want the Dark Lord's return. I am sure Lucius will fire me. What am I going to do?" He pulled out a handkerchief; Remus saw it. A wrapped chocolate candy fell out.

"Don't touch it." Remus screamed and floated the candy inside a glass.

"It looks exactly like the one I gave Draco. Now I remember, Pettigrew said to give him two. I didn't, the children were bickering, and Draco left to chase young Zabinni." Avery looked hopeful. "Wait," he looked in his pocket, pulling out a second flask. "Yes," he said, "I needed to add this to the drink; I couldn't because the hot petite witch walked past me. She took my breath away; what a beauty. She is the mother of Madam Mimi; Francis told me. Goodness she is a goddess," he stopped talking, when he noticed Grant, looking angry. Avery looked at Grant again and said nothing else.

"Don't you ever talk about my wife in such a manner." Grant bared his teeth. He went by the desk, picked up a box, and guided the full flask inside. Right away, Grant sealed it and wrapped in a dark napkin. Remus pointed at it, to make sure Pettigrew could not spy using it.

Yaxley said, "Avery, sit here, don't leave. We are going to see Lucius. For your sake, I hope you are not lying. How about your wife?"

"She left already. She doesn't like to be around me, the feeling is mutual." Avery answered. "She was forced on me; she is the daughter of a Dark Lord's supporter. I suspect one of his many lovers."

Avery wanted redemption; he wanted to prove he was changed. He had an idea; he liked his job and his life of privilege. Moreover, he liked the petite witch, maybe she had a sister.

They left Avery in the room, Zech's brother stayed to keep an eye on him.

Remus asked Yaxley, "Is he telling the truth?"

"He seems different. I think he is. Which brings about another problem, what if there were others Pettigrew visited. He is a rat like his Animagus. Too bad a Kneazle hasn't ended his miserable life." Yaxley said.

"Daddy, daddy," Remus turned around, Frankie, Evie and Harry were following them. "We were looking for you, Harry has an idea."

They had heard Lucius talking about Pettigrew, and Yaxley had just confirmed it. The baddie was a rat.

Harry walked to Grant and held his hand. Evie held Remus's hand, and Frankie walked between Yaxley and Remus. The adults welcomed to see the children well.

Grant asked, "Son what is your idea?"

One of the wolfhounds joined the group. "Daddy, I haven't told you, because I didn't want to be a weirdo, and maybe you wouldn't like me, but I can talk to all the animals."

Remus didn't want him to talk about this around Yaxley. He believed Harry, Moony had already said the same. He said, "Son, you don't say anything else until Rick makes an unbreakable. He must swear he will never repeat what anybody tells him, or he hears, to anyone outside the family."

Yaxley nodded, understanding trust would be built over time. After it was done, Harry said. "It is true, watch," he barked a few barks, and the wolfhound answered. "Good boy. I asked him if he had seen someone give Draco anything. He was with us. He said a human gave Draco a chocolate, but Draco spitted out half of it. He threw it in a rubbish bin. Here it is." Harry pulled out a napkin, inside was half a piece of a chocolate filled with cream. "He told us that early."

Grant stooped to hug him. "My good son, maybe we can do something. I believe you; you are a good boy, never a weirdo. Can you talk to other animals?"

Evie was quick to answer, "Yes, he can, and that is why I am going to marry him; he is the bestest."

"I am not marrying you. You and Amelia bit Pansy, disobeying by showing your teeth, and you are my cousin." Harry answered hastily, snarling. Frankie agreed.

Remus grinned, "Harry don't argue, if she is like her mother, she will have her way."

Yaxley agreed, smiling.

"Okay, I won't argue," Harry shrugged his shoulders, "but I have an idea. If Pettigrew killed my other mommy and daddy, I want to get him." Harry was resolute; he crossed his arms, defiantly.

Remus wasn't expecting this; he closed his eyes, and Grant did the same, both hoping Yaxley had not made the connection.

Fat chance, "By Merlin, I see, your parents were the Potters; Pete likes to brag about about that day, blaming Black , bloody rat." Yaxley saw Harry's teary eyes. "You don't do it, son; no, we will take care of him. Young wizards let the older ones do those kind of things."

Remus and Grant understood, Yaxley was already a family member; what a shocker. Harry said, "Okay, but I can ask mice to help us find him; and, I can ask the Kneazles to eat him." At this proposal, the three children said, 'Yeah," and snickered; they liked the idea.

Moony said it, Naughty but clever pups. Remus agreed; it was a great idea. The invisible newcomers all smirked. They also liked the idea. One had seen where Pettigrew had vanished. Harry should go by the place and ask the animals to help. What an honor to help; they would tell Harry.

They went back to Lucius with the news. Lucius hugged Harry. "Remus, can you go to the potions lab? Send for Severus, he can help. I will talk to Avery later. He better be telling the truth."

Lucius ordered to send Avery home. He would deal with him later; but changed his mind. "Keep him here, but have someone watching him." Zech nodded, his brother was already watching him.

Hermione had her head on Draco's pillow, Amelia lay at the foot of the bed. Both had fallen sleep, looking like wolf pups. Yaxley's eyes opened in wonderment. Jeanie sat by Elly and Narcissa, both looked sad and hopeless. They held hands, worrying, for Narcissa, the witch they called their sister.

Harry, Evie, and Frankie followed suit. They jumped on the bed fixed for Draco, changed into pups, and fell asleep surrounding Draco. Lucius sat looking at Draco, "They are little angels; oh my good son, don't leave me." Grant stood behind him, and put his hand on Lucius shoulder. "Luc, all will be well." Grant prayed it was so; he wasn't so sure.

News

Some hours had passed. Lucius had not slept at all. Severus arrived, they were checking the vial contents and the half-chocolate. Severus confirmed they were hexes, but didn't know what they did. Severus said they probably activated whatever curse was inside. Not much could be done.

Zech's brother had left for a couple minutes, when he was back, Avery was gone. Avery was going to do something incredibly stupid; he wanted to try to destroy Pettigrew himself. But first he wanted to make a visit.

Everyone fell asleep on the chairs, it was early morning when Fenrir came back. He was bursting with happiness.
