So, people have been asking about the Shrine Maiden that appeared during the last Endbringer fight, (Behemoth attacking Korea November of last year). Some Parahuman hating girl who drove off Behemoth in record time? A guy I know currently in Japan has confirmed a few things:
She is some kind of maskless cape, like that group in Brockton Bay. Rather than a Shrine Maiden, she is the Head Priestess of the Hakurei Shrine, located in the mountains of Chūbu, Japan.
Apparently she and her crew appeared sometime during the Summer (2009), and before people even knew she existed she was already killing Yakuza capes.

The Yakuza have better control over Japan than the actual government does, correct? At least after a Kyushu sank, I don't want to get into another flamewar regarding its competency before that happened.
Did they strong-arm her into their organization or anything in retaliation?
Also, what's the difference between a Shrine Maiden and a Head Priestess?

I'm not 100% sure cuz my friend isn't that good at speaking Japanese, but apparently her group drove the Yakuza out of one of the nearby towns, as well as either driving off or killing the nearby Warlords during their attempts at filling the power vacuum.
14 kills of that she's admitted to over the past year and a half, all parahumans. And that's not taking into account everyone that her allies may have killed.
"Priestesses can get married and have sex," was the answer I was given.

Aw man, I finally see the cutest and sexiest Asian girl of all time, who's apparently single and looking for a relationship, and then she turns out to be a bloodthirsty villain.

Actually, the locals seem to see her as some kind of Vigilante/Rogue of some sort. And they seem a lot happier with her around then they were before she started cleaning fighting the Yakuza.
Also, she's married.

A girl with a face that cute and a body that sensual? Yeah, if I had to pay protection money to a bloodthirsty Warlord, I'd rather it be her then some ugly tattooed freak with no hygiene.

I'm not sure if she actually makes people pay protection money. Most of her profits seem to be from her telling people's fortunes. If she is making people pay protection money, then the townsfolk aren't talking about it.

If she doesn't charge a people in return for her protecting them, that explains why she's considered a vigilante and a rogue then I suspect.

Okay, so she killed a bunch of villains without any problems. How does that justify her outburst at the end of the fight with Behemoth? Why does she, a parahuman, hate other parahumans so much?

She claims that two gods are enshrined at her shrine, and that her powers come from them. Maybe it's an issue regarding where a person's powers come from and less of them having powers to begin with.
Because think about it, what god that would empower supervillains AND heroes?

A warrior god? It would explain why Parahumans are more prone to violence than normal humans.
Also INB4 the folks at Haven flipping out over this.

Not necessarily, the Kami in Shintoism can sometimes be seen as less of gods and more as spirits. Some people will even say that the word kami doesn't actually translate to 'god.' Some Shinto sects even accepted the idea of the kami being angels when they were exposed to Christianity.
Alternatively... A priestess' powers coming from two gods might explain why Behemoth, who is considered a god by the Fallen, was punched out as quickly as he was.

Oh God, please no! The Endbringers turning out to actually be gods is a worse notion than Void Cowboy getting super powers!

Who's Void Cowboy and why is he relevant to this conversation?
Also, what's the Japanese government's stance on on this Shrine Maiden Priestess girl?

As far as my friend could tell, They're too busy dealing with the Yakuza and other Warlords to want to waste time ousting a warlord that the community actually likes.
As for Void Cowboy, he's a bit of a nuisance here on PHO. He commented on the other thread regarding the priestess, as well as another user named Seven Colored Puppeteer who got temporarily banned for saying the priestesses actual name here on PHO before it was confirmed that she was an open cape. Seven Colored Puppeteer also made a thread a few months back claiming that she could sell people powers, and Void Cowboy started asking questions.
If we're going to talk about that more, we should probably move it to to PMs or another thread.

Couldn't find out much. A fairly normal looking guy Japanese guy with a stubble (Reimu's husband, presumably), a woman who flies with black feathered wings and controls the wind, a girl with horns who drinks alcohol a lot, a maid that's probably a tinker, and a bunch of turtles.
Apparently there was an albino girl with fire powers, but supposedly she fled the place when Scion visited during October (2009.)

Hey, didn't the Seven Colored Puppeteer say something about Reimu having turtles back on the Behemoth Basher thread?

14 confirmed kills, and all of them are parahumans? That makes her rude behavior at the end of the Endbringer battle consistent, if tame in comparison.
If she hates parahumans so much, what happens if a parahuman wants to worship one of the Gods she serves?

Did you not read about the whole issue about the issue where parahuman abilities might be coming from?

...
I pulled myself away from the library computer.
Why did I keep coming back to that 'Website?' While the whole concept behind the information network called "Internet" in place didn't make sense in function, it was a great convenience... and yet here I was tainting my brain with the concerns of strangers.
Looking at the clock, I saw that I had wasted too much time. I was no closer to finding out the information I needed and I still had to meet with Void Cowboy and his family.
I got off of the library computer and made my way towards the building's exit.
"A blond, unmasked cape just floating around," I heard someone nearby muse aloud. "Think she's with New Wave?"
If I recalled correctly, New Wave was a family that focused on using their powers to act as voluntary guards for the local populace. Laserbeam, Man Whore, Photon Mom and Glory Hole if I was remembering their names correctly. They seemed to be like the Heroic Legends of Gensokyo who resolved incidents, but for the sake of being 'Heroic' rather than any legitimate gain or duty.
"Look at the doll floating beside her, clearly she's with Parian."
Parian, on the other hand, was a parahuman who hung out around the Boardwalk and/or Lord's Market. Like me, she supposedly does shows with her dolls for money, and works other jobs.
However, I know nothing for certain as I always fled them when they approached me. I hated being where those crystal-like entities could see me.
Exiting the library, I took to the air and flew off in the direction I recalled Greg Veder saying he lived.
...
The area I landed in was... okay I suppose. In my travels around the country during the last year, I had seen nicer neighborhoods, and the place was cleaner then the Human Village ever was if you included dust.
However, unlike the human Village, it felt like there was no Pride (if you could say such a thing about locations.) Someone like the Hakurei Shrine Maiden would have an easier time making sense of it due to her connection to the spiritual.
But frankly I did not care, it's kept up a minimal level of decency befitting the home of any self-respecting magician. Which was important I suppose given that I was visiting one of my apprenticed here in Earth bet. Specifically the one known as Greg Veder.
"If I recall correctly," I muttered to myself "His house would be..."
Finding the location I was told to visit, I approached the building in question and wrapped my knuckles against its front door.
'Why is there a small button near the door? And why do so many homes have them?'
I don't know what I was expecting regarding the appearance of my apprentice's parents, but I did not expect seeing what I saw.
"Hello, and you are?" asked the man who I suspected was Greg's father.
"Greetings, I am Alice Margatroid," I answered simply before giving a light bow. "I was informed that you wish to speak with me regarding me teaching your son how to use Magic. "
Looking up from my bow, I saw that the man gave me a look which I suspected indicated confusion and/or suspicion. I explained myself in response to his silience.
"This is the house of one Greg Veder, also known as the hero who took down the Yokai of Twilight, Rumia, who is also known as the Cannibalistic Parahuman by the locals, correct?"
The man's eyes widened in horror before suddenly placing his hand over my mouth and having his other lift a finger to his lips while making a 'shushing' noise.
"Don't go talking about people's secret iden-secrets like that!" he has demanded in a hushed voice.
It took awhile not only for me to just get inside of the house but to be caught up on the series of events as understood by Greg's parents.
While not as impressive as the House of Eternity, the inside of the Vader family's domain appeared to me rather high class, if in a minimalistic sense.
Then again, I only got to see the entry and living rooms...
