SCP: Birth Of The Legends

Chapter 33: Kill to protect.

An IJAMEA soldier fell to the ground and froze in fear, he wanted to scream but his vocal cords were as stiff as iron. All the sound he could make was gibberish.

That entity was even more terrifying than an Umibozu.

The entity was made of pure darkness and possessed a humanoid silhouette. It was bulky, had wide shoulders and big arms.

The head didn't resemblance the silhouette of a human head, it was quite difficult to describe. Two horns pointing back, two red spheres that probably were eyes and a rift that was its mouth; while opened, it showed dozens of blackened fangs.

Four-fingered feet and five-fingered hands that actually were claws sharper than any metal the soldier knew of.

Behind it, a tail with its tip trident-shaped swayed calmly.

As if it wasn't enough, its height of at least three meters added even more intimidation.

Adam had let the Demon of Darkness out, and it was having fun.

"Normally, I wouldn't be so happy to kill something but have been years since I shed blood!"

Its tail moved faster than a bullet, it pierced the soldier's armor and sternum as if they were mere butter.

"Forget them!" yelled one of the IJAMEA soldiers. "Focus on the demon."

"I wonder. What do your souls taste like? Sushi, maybe?"

Plasma guns opened fire elevating the temperature and turning the demon into nothing but atoms.

Or that was what they were expecting to happen.

The Demon of Darkness moved at supersonic speed, the noise was so loud that it disoriented them all. The eardrums of the nearest ones broke sinking them into confusion and pain.

It punched one of the super-advanced tanks, it shouldn't have suffered any kind of damage but it did. The front of the war vehicle was compacted and flew like a missile colliding against more tanks and squishing the soldiers under hundreds of tons of steel.

The Demon of Darkness laughed, that kind of weaponry and level of destructive power was nothing. Maybe he shouldn't have summoned so much power.

If he would have summoned more of his own power that planet wouldn't have resisted it; neither the mind of that youngling after realizing that Earth was nothing but rocks in space. That kid loved his planet.

Inside the Demon of Darkness, Serafall's crest shone on Adam's chest.

The Demon started to kill and destroy everything in his sight. It wasn't even using his powers, he just was using his physical capabilities. There was no fun in turning them into ashes in a second.

It grabbed two soldiers by the head and its tail wrapped the head of another.

The soldiers looked with horror at how the souls of their fallen brothers were absorbed by the beast.

Adam and The Demon saw all the memories of the fallen.

They were even worse than they thought.

With little pressure, it squished their heads.

Slavery, torture, rape, mass genocide.

The Demon of Darkness laughed, the kid was so angry. That burning feeling caused joy in the Demon and elevated its excitement which has as a consequence more brutality.

"He is angry and I am hungry!"

An unfortunate soldier was grabbed by the shoulder and leg, he begged and cried but all was useless.

The Demon of Darkness laughed as it lifted the soldier and effortlessly ripped him in two bathing its body with blood and guts.

.

.

.

Jennifer shot a maelstrom of dark energy to the dome; it was futile but it wasn't going to stop her.

"You idiot!"

Her scream was almost inhuman, Lambda-5 backed off acting for self-preservation.

"Throwing yourself into the battle!"

Another blast of dark energy.

"Protecting everyone!"

Another one.

"Sacrificing yourself."

Another one.

"You don't have permission to die!"

She ceased her attacks and leaned on a wall to catch her breath.

The dome was made of pure darkness and was unscathed. It extended as far as the eye could see.

The dome had separated IJAMEA from the village and the rest of the world, it was them and the Demon of Darkness.

The members of Lambda-5 had no idea what to do, they had already called reinforcements.

All happened so fast.

Just when they were about to be terminated, that entity appeared out of nowhere and created that dome. They were thankful for having it, they would have died without it, but they were worried about the entity.

Why did it save them?

Their doubts were amplified by the sensation of dread that everyone felt before the entity's appearance. The Bloody Queen seemed to know something judging by her despair.

Jennifer punched the wall of a house, crumbling it. This was more than enough to make the soldiers think twice.

"What are you doing, idiot? Come back before they hurt you badly."

She felt her anxiety grow with every second, she just had become his girlfriend. They finally had taken the step, and even when she was jealous for not being the only lover of his; she was happy.

Her dream of finally loving each other with endless passion was becoming a reality. Not how she would like it though.

For six years she had craved that moment, and it was a reality now. She could live with Adam's polygamy.

She couldn't bear with the idea of him being out of her reach, in a place where she couldn't protect him.

Her blue eyes turned purple, she was using one of her vampire abilities to look for a weak point in the dome. The flow of the energy of the dome was something that she hadn't seen in her life and the nature of it was unknown for her but felt familiar, almost comforting.

She turned around with her hands mimicking claws, the fingernails of a vampire could be as hard as iron and they were their primary weapon besides their fangs.

Thanks to her ability, she could see a magic circle forming. It belonged to a devil, a quite powerful one.

She blinked twice and her eyes returned to normal.

Lambda-5 had seen her reaction so they readied for an imminent threat. They haven't even put their fingers on the trigger acknowledging their state of anxiety; it wouldn't be good if they kill something that came without hostility.

The magic circle finally was visible and two women took its place.

Serafall and Yasaka.

The devil was wearing her Maou armor and her face carried a stone-cold expression and gaze. For the people that knew Serafall on a personal level, that meant that she was totally serious and compassion was gone.

Yasaka was wearing a white shitagi and red hakama; her hair was tied in the Yakko Shimada style. Instead of her normal crown, she was wearing a tiara but it was enough to communicate her royal status.

A uwa-obi was tied around her waist and it had a katana and tanto attached to it.

Those clothes meant that the Empress was ready to fight.

Jennifer breathed out and relaxed her posture, Lambda-5 did the same.

"Your highness, what are you doing here?"

Yasaka just pointed with one of her tails at the dome of darkness.

"We sensed it from the palace, everyone did," Serafall answered. "I would like to know what we're facing before addressing the situation."

The devil looked around, she could sense the energy that she injected within Adam's soul; it was screaming her name. Her servant needed her help.

"Where is Adam?"

Jennifer pointed at the dome. "He is inside the dome, he created it."

Yasaka and Serafall could hide their surprise. Did he always have so much power?

Jennifer put her hand against her forehead and wiped off the sweat on it. She was starting to lose patience when that happens she usually would punch the problem until it ceases being a problem.

But she couldn't do that at that moment, the dome was indestructible.

"Madam," called one of the members of Lambda-5 a little worried for his physical integrity. "The reinforcements are near. Should we tell them about Omega?"

Alice, the leader, was about to scold her soldier. Such an important thing couldn't be omitted, keeping secrets was unacceptable.

A death glare from Jennifer made Alice change her mind. She would tell her superiors when Delta wasn't in the vicinity.

"I'll tell The Director personally. Now, move to a better place, a place where you're not in the enemy's crosshairs."

Lambda-5 silently agreed, the Bloody Queen might not be their superior but she was scary and spoke with logic.

Yasaka and Serafall watched the soldiers abandon the zone. What happened there?

That village was at two sneezes to crumble.

Jennifer quickly explained what happened. As much as she would have liked to hide the part where Adam turned into a demon or something like that, she couldn't risk everyone's safety.

"Adam was enveloped by darkness and turned into a demon?"

Serafall crossed her arms, she had read something about a demon made of pure and raw darkness. She didn't remember well the pages of the Demonic Codex.

"Then, Adam-kun is fighting that army alone?"

Jennifer limited herself to nod her head, Yasaka's question didn't help her to keep calm. She wasn't quite sure of the level of destruction that they could cause but to achieve interdimensional travel and have those fantasy weapons, they had to be quite technologically advanced.

After reading Adam's report, she was sure that he could survive a lot of things but she wasn't willing to be faithful to his healing capacity. She had to get him out of the battle as soon as possible.

Serafall seemed to sense her anxiety because she began to talk with Yasaka.

"You are more skilled in magic than me. Any ideas?"

Yasaka moved her palms close to each other, in the empty space between them a magic circle appeared.

It had the personal crest belonging to Yasaka and erratically changed from a symbol to another. Jennifer wasn't quite sure what was it, she hadn't studied magic too much.

"The dome is not made of magic, at least not one I know."

Serafall frowned.

She knew beforehand that Yasaka had studied magic for centuries, the fox-woman was one of the best magicians in the Supernatural world. If her friend didn't know the kind of magic that raised the dome, then it was really dangerous.

Jennifer caressed her arm trying to keep her anxiety under control. She was starting to get desperate.

"I think that this is not magic," commented Serafall. "Magic is the manifestation of our will, allowing us to manipulate reality to a certain degree."

No one interrupted her.

"This is not the manipulation of reality, this is raw energy."

"Energy cannot be destroyed just transformed," quoted Jennifer. "This dome doesn't emit heat, electricity, nothing. It's like plasma without heat?"

Serafall and Yasaka didn't know what to say. That was their first time seeing such a phenomenon.

Even the raw demonic energy generated some heat when it manifested.

Yasaka closed the distance with the dome and decided to touch it with her finger.

A mistake.

Her finger was burnt as if it just touched fire, something shocking considering that due to her divine-like power, Yasaka couldn't be harm easily.

She shook her hand by reflex and put the finger in her mouth.

"Are you alright?"

Yasaka nodded her head, Serafall didn't have to worry.

Jennifer and Serafall stared at the dome in an attempt to decipher it. Something in its nature called them, it felt familiar.

Serafall did the same thing but she got different results.

Her finger wasn't as burnt as Yasaka's, it merely had any sign of damage. Jennifer got a similar result but she suffered more damage than her.

"We offer our apologies."

The three got in a state of alert before the voice that resonated in their heads.

Woman-shaped pillars of raw elemental energy appeared before them.

Each one had a different color and represented one of the seven elements.

Darkness, Fire, Earth, Water, Wind, Lightning.

Light wasn't present.

"I am Skotadi, the Spirit of Darkness. As one of the spirits aiding and watching over Adam Rose, I shall explain what happened."

[+++]

The Demon of Darkness ripped the head of a soldier and stabbed another one with its tail.

"Kid, this is going to take a lot of time. We need to destroy the source of the problem."

Thanks to the telepathic link between them, Adam knew what it meant.

"I'm a male. Tell me, youngling. Are you ready to cause omnicide?"

Adam refused the idea, even when the more souls the Demon of Darkness consumed the more he thought that they all deserved death. What if there were innocent people in that world?

But sacrificing a few million to save billions of lives seemed to be the only way to stop them from destroying more worlds.

With all those souls consumed, he saw that they had access to interdimensional travel. They were a threat to the entire multiverse.

"Don't worry, I'll deliver the innocent souls to the succubi. They'll be fine."

Suddenly, a voice dull of authority echoed inside Adam's mind, it was Rayane and she was mad.

"What the hell are you thinking?"

"I'm going to protect everyone, I'm going to fulfill my duty."

"By wiping out the entire population of a planet?"

"It's the only way to keep other dimensions safe."

"Let's do this, I will lend you all the power your body can endure. Destroy everything as you wish, the faster you finish the faster you can be with your women."

The Spirit of Earth objected passionately.

"We won't allow this, we won't allow you to corrupt him."

"I'm not doing nothing, I'm just giving him the resources to fulfill his honorable duty," he laughed. "And I'm no longer helping him, he is using my power to satiate his bloodlust."

His words were true, he stopped moving for Adam. He had let his darkness around the kid so he had enough power to destroy to his heart's content.

He could feel all the repressed rage inside the kid's heart, he would erupt if the slightest of pressure was applied. Letting all of his negative emotions roam free in a planet filled with clouded fools was better than going on a rampage to Heaven or the Underworld.

The kid loved his planet.

"No, we're not allowing this," stated Sapphire. "Adam, we're getting you out of here."

"I don't think so."

The Spirits felt how their connection with Adam started to fail, that wasn't right. Did that demon have the knowledge to do that?

"Absque spirituali."

With that spell, the Spirits were kicked out from Adam's soul.

Every Spirit with the exception of Rayane.

"Even when those children oppose the idea and I don't especially like it. I agree that these humans are a threat to billions of lives in several dimensions. They are hostile and cannot be reasoned with."

"Finally, someone who supports me."

"Adam, I'll keep your mind healthy. I'll do my best to keep you from madness."

While those conversations happened, Adam was destroying everything that he saw.

His body was surrounded by the darkness of the Demon. It was protecting him and giving him all the power he needed it.

The power of an ancient demon that surpassed mortals.

Adam used his tail to pierced the head of one of the soldiers and literally ate the head of another.

The source of the problem was the planet on the other side of the portal.

He will destroy them, he will protect Jennifer, Kuriho, and Natasha.

The name of Serafall will be famous and feared.

Yasaka won't have to worry about the safety of her city.

Earth will be safe, as well as the other dimension they planned to invade.

Empowered by the Demon of Darkness and his rage, Adam tackled a tank at supersonic speed and pushed him through the portal smashing the bodies of dozens of soldiers that were about to exit.

Once he was on the other side, by pure instinct he closed the portal with a spell.

[+++]

"Unfortunately, our connection with Rayane was broken after that."

Jennifer closed her eyes and breathed deeply for a moment. That entire situation was nerve-racking.

Now Adam totally was out of her reach, he was on another planet doing Lilith knows what.

She lost him again.

"There's no need to be worried about his return, he will come back to you."

Jennifer could feel that Skotadi's words were full of confidence, which calmed her down a little.

"I see. You are the primordial forces."

In synchrony, the Spirits bowed.

"I am surprised that a youngling like you knew us. This universe is far away from Hell and Heaven."

Yasaka had curiosity but she had to prioritize her territory before anything else. The dome damaged her, if it extended more, thousands of yokais might perish.

"Don't worry about this dome, it won't increase its size. I can break it but I don't know if it represents a danger."

Yasaka shook her head. "It's better not to take risks. I would like to be sure that this is contained here."

"A wise choice, your highness," congratulated Skotadi.

A few moments of silence passed before Sylph decided to break it.

"Since Adam is our current wielder and protegee, we should make sure that he is happy. To achieve that we got to make sure that you are safe."

Before any of them was able to react, the Spirits got into their souls.

Fire got into Yasaka, Water into Serafall, and Darkness into Jennifer.

Earth and Lightning went to Natasha's location.

Wind decided to join forces with a kindred spirit and went to the soul of a certain kumiho.

"You should return to your duties," Skotadi suggested to Jennifer. "He will go to you, and trust me when I say that you all will sense when he appears."

The same thing was said to the devil and fox-woman. It was the most reasonable thing to do since they couldn't do anything at the moment.

Serafall felt strange oppression in her chest, it felt like abandoning her servant or Masaru. Back in the golden times, she and Masaru would spend entire hours trying to decipher the dome to destroy it.

Yasaka breathed out, as much as she hated to say it: Adam was basically a tool to get her out from the Royal Laws and have the chance to choose her lifelong partner.

Why did she have to respect her mother so much?

Adam could be that live-long partner.

Yasaka's opinions about what was going on were split.

Her brain was trying to process why the fact that Adam was in another world caused her great concern.

Her heart cared to give an explanation.

When she met Haruki, he was a man that fought for the weak and cared for everyone around him. After a century, he showed who he really was, an opportunist, malignant, shameless, selfish...

Adam was what fake and the Haruki she fell in love with was: a man that cared for others.

Adam was the man that would be there if she needed someone to talk with and now he was protecting her territory.

He was starting to earn the power of Kyoto.

She was willing to see if Adam really was as good as she thought he was. She wasn't going to make the same mistake.

If he really was as good as she thought, then she wouldn't care if he had three girlfriends or more; she would ask him to marry her.

Maybe that youngling is worth it.

In the distance, the dragon of infinity watched the dome with awe. Two words came out of her mouth, even after millions of years she didn't forget them.

"Lord Dahaka."

[...]

(Optional song: Tom Tom by Holy Fuck.)

"What are you waiting for?!"

"Sir, it's one of our cities."

The IJAMEA general took his helmet off and threw it across the room. What he was going to do was the most dishonorable act possible, the mere idea almost was enough to push him to the limits and commit seppuku.

The satellite where they were in worked as a combat station and had the capacity to shoot orbital strikes.

It shot a car-sized sphere from a railgun, when the sphere impacted the ground it caused an explosion that could compete with an atomic bomb.

What made that combat satellite deadly was its ability to shoot multiple times which could devastate entire continents in a few moments and the capacity to move in any direction.

It could be transported to another dimension and bombard a planet and end with the civilization if it proved to be a danger or major problem for IJAMEA.

Now, the general was going to shoot such a weapon against Earth, the main planet of IJAMEA where most of its technology was. Besides that, it was the home of humanity.

The general pushed the soldier away and pressed the button. The satellite pointed at that creature of darkness, moving his finger to confirm the attack was consuming all of his will.

No, that creature would destroy Earth if he doubted further, he had to destroy it.

"Sir, no!"

The satellite quickly readied to fire, it would just take it a minute to heat up and shoot.

On the surface of the planet, entire cities and armies were being destroyed at the hands of the Demon of Darkness, no, at the hands of Adam.

While the Demon of Darkness gladly gave the kid more power, Rayane was making sure that Adam's mind didn't go too deep into the whirlwind of anger, fear, and sadness.

A pair of wings were in his back allowing him to fly and literally shot beams of darkness.

The Demon of Darkness felt kind of proud to see someone causing such destruction with his form.

Adam quickly analyzed his surroundings and decided to wipe out the entire city behind the armies.

Launching himself at hypersonic speed, he headed to the city.

A soldier, heavy armored and really big for a human, was grabbed by the head and slammed against a skyscraper at hypersonic speed.

Adam didn't stop and kept piercing through the buildings and slamming the body of the soldier until there was nothing but a head.

He stopped in the middle of the air and crushed the head with no effort.

"What the hell is that?!"

"Is this punishment for our sins?!"

"Gods protect us!"

The dark demon laughed and that diabolic voice echoed in the head of the inhabitants of the planet.

"I am punishment, rageful justice, and vengeance. Those who surrender now will be shown mercy, those who don't will be consumed."

Adam didn't know how but he could feel the people who submitted to his orders. If the Demon of Darkness kept his word then they would be sent to another place where their souls would be safe.

He lifted his gaze to the sky, a burning object approaching his location.

If Adam would have been used to that power and physical abilities, he could have avoided it and readied for the enormous shock wave but Adam wasn't used to it.

The object collided against him directly, just after that an explosion took place, it had the force to wipe out the entire city along with the armies and citizens inside it.

The general in the satellite wiped the sweat off his forehead, he made it. He made the call and now could rest knowing that the beast had been destroyed.

Ineffective Attack: The target is moving.

Every soldier in the control room felt dread after the message of the A.I, that thing hadn't died!

"Shoot again!" commanded the General in panic. "Now!"

"Sir, it is coming straight to us!"

"What?!"

The dark demon was shortening the distance with the satellite at hypersonic speed.

His speed increased just in time to see the satellite ready to shoot.

Just before the car-sized sphere was shot from the railgun, Adam pierced through the sphere and got into the satellite.

Everyone screamed in terror.

Back on Earth, the population saw the Guardian-1, the satellite that should watch over them, explode all of sudden.

The event wasn't hard to see, mostly for the massive size of the satellite.

The half that didn't explode was approaching the surface of the planet at a speed that it shouldn't have.

Adam stopped propelling the machine and opted to fly to the other side of the planet while shooting spheres from the wings of the darkness around him.

The spheres were destructive enough to be compared with a nuclear explosion and dozens were shot per second.

From a space station on the moon, its personnel could see every continent of Earth being consumed by fire at a high rate.

IJAMEA questioned if getting rid of the Foundation was a good idea.

On the burning surface of Earth, Adam stopped and pointed his tail towards the moon.

"You're going to enjoy this."

The tail focused raw energy, a small sphere created on its trident-shaped end.

A beam of incredible potency was shot. It took a few seconds before the Moon's explosion.

Adam took a moment to analyze what he had just done.

Everything was destroyed, nothing but the sound of the wind and corpses accompanied him.

The view was disturbingly relaxing.

"I'm already taking care of the souls. In the pole South, I can feel lives in there and some of the millions of memories told us that there is a research facility, go and make them open a portal to your world."

"What if they can't?"

"Then I'll take care of it."

The darkness hadn't abandoned his body yet. It was time to go back home.

If unwanted events don't happen.

[...]

Jennifer was floating over Kyoto, admiring the colorful city and its lights.

She was wearing the same biker jacket, black pants, and biker boots. The change was her navy blue T-shirt.

The cottage where she and her parents used to live was dim, she didn't like shiny things anyways.

While she loved darkness, she had to admit that an illuminated city was beautiful.

It had been a week since Adam's disappearance, the dome vanished without a trace after a day.

The Spirit of Darkness had proven to be a good companion but she kind of understood why Adam sometimes got so frustrated. Skotadi sometimes talked when Jennifer was in the middle of a conversation, which was like having two people talking to you at the same time.

She had focused on her job rather than letting herself be overwhelmed by her emotions. It was too soon to lose faith.

In that week she had helped the Empress to capture active members of the black market.

Adam's idea of looking for the date of the attack in the village and the date where the sales of the black market raised like a rocket to the moon gave results.

Yasaka herself had some contacts in the black market which shouldn't surprise Jennifer considering how old the Empress really was.

It wasn't like she was going to judge her, sometimes to keep order and peace bad people were needed. Just like the Foundation used her, Natasha, and Adam as operatives.

They were far from being examples of the good of humanity, she and Adam had a large body count and she was sure that Natasha had at least a homicide on her list.

Back to the job.

The Emperor's most frequent clients and dealers were captured and their offices raided.

After some interrogations made by herself, she managed to get a confession and the details about Haruki that she wanted.

Human trafficking, murder, sexual slavery, organ trafficking, possession and sale of drugs.

Prove all of these crimes would be really hard and make witnesses testify against the Emperor's crimes. He made sure to sow fear in everyone who even had the idea to expose him.

She couldn't really blame them, he had the resources to make people disappear and he hadn't done it because of Yasaka's presence.

Twenty people disappearing consecutively definitely would attract attention.

So, Haruki decided to terrorize the witnesses instead of killing them.

Jennifer whistled, that man wasn't dumb.

He used Yasaka's strong infatuation to manipulate her, made her cloud her judgment, and ignore every accusation. Haruki was a master manipulator, a malignant and selfish prick.

She didn't know what happened exactly but something made the Emperor lose control.

"I can tell you what happened," offered the Spirit of Darkness.

"I would like to hear it."

"Haruki used to be Masaru's apprentice, he fought once against a Salamander and raped her afterward. When Masaru found it out, he wasn't pleased and before Ruby could lay a finger on Haruki, Masaru almost beat him to death."

"And what does it have to do with his loss of control."

"It's normal for you to not know. Adam is almost identical to Masaru, after that beating, it was natural for Haruki to suffer severe trauma."

"So that's what happened. The presence of Adam summed to Yasaka having an interest in him were enough to break his facade."

"That and the pressure of Jonathan wanting payback."

Jennifer cracked her knuckles. "I just want to hurt him pretty badly."

"I think that Adam will keep up with your expectations, he wants to kill him. Likely because he can sense the evil inside him."

Jennifer crossed her arms, Skotadi was with Adam the entire time. She might know things that she didn't.

"Does he love me?"

Skotadi remained silent for a moment, that little child trying to sound so confident when she was anxious.

"He does. Be really patient with him and tolerant, he is very likely to fall in love quickly."

Jennifer facepalmed, all that he needed to fall in love with someone was a good pair of boobs. What a pervert.

"Please, have more faith. Gaia is better in this than me but I can tell you that he is more 'honest' to his primal instincts."

"A horny idiot."

"Basically, yes"

Jennifer smirked, since childhood she knew that Adam was a huge pervert. Six years ago, the last time they saw each other, she bit him and found his collection of shunga.

He was at that age at that moment; she couldn't blame him, she had a collection of yaoi.

"Tell me, youngling. What are you going to do about your beloved?"

"What do you mean?"

"Well, he has two other women besides you. I guess that you felt jealous and not appreciated."

"No, I feel jealous but I know that he doesn't play with hearts. Yes, he might have been a little rushed about his decision but..."

"But?"

Jennifer took a deep breath.

That world of theirs was ruthless, Adam or she could die at any moment.

An ancestral being from another universe, an immortal reptile, mythologies that actually exist, a statue that breaks your neck if you don't see it, a creature that runs from the other side of the world to kill you if you see its face.

The anomalies were too dangerous, nothing stopped the gods from suddenly being aggressive and try to wipe out humanity.

She could guess why Adam took such a rushed decision without thinking too much. He wanted to love and be loved before facing death over and over again.

Jennifer couldn't really be jealous at all, she had craved being Adam's lover for years and now that her dream became true; she wasn't willing to lose it.

Well, she was one of his lovers. Would that mean that he wouldn't love her with the same passion and commitment?

She wasn't sure but just time would tell.

"Faith, youngling, faith."

Jennifer descended onto the rooftop; the adjacent alleyway was a place of reunion for scumbags also known as the ones who make the dirty jobs for crime lords.

Kidnap, robbery, assassination, transport of merchandise, etc.

It was true that the Foundation, COG, GRU-P, and other governmental organizations have done that kind of thing but the difference was the objective.

While these kinds of criminals do them for personal profit, they do them for the greater good.

She was there to save a harpy from being killed or worse. Jennifer couldn't allow those beasts to cause harm to the monster girls.

Well, "extra-human".

Jennifer jumped onto the lamppost and stood there with magnificent balance.

"Just dropped her off. She kept whining and begging, it's a shame that the boss doesn't want us to touch her."

"He probably wants her for himself."

"That's so unfair. We were the ones who went to that shrine."

"Well, you can tell him if you don't like it."

"Nah, forget it. I can always rent one in John's place."

Jennifer analyzed the situation.

The alleyway was narrow, barely enough for two people to have some personal space. There was a dim neon sign forming the words "Second Circle".

There were just two men on watch, a tengu, and a fox. Her ability to see the true nature of things told her that their aura was low and selfish.

The streets were empty, the citizens must have come to make a non-verbal agreement to stay indoors the entire night.

She would have considered just go for the girl but Adam's absence was proving to be really frustrating. Those scumbags should help her to relax.

"Well, Adam and you surely are bloodthirsty," commented Skotadi. "You two are not so different."

Jennifer didn't negate the statement.

She stretched her limbs before jumping off the lamppost.

Her boot collided against the skull of the tengu and bashed his head against the concrete.

In a quick move, she stabbed the fox-man's neck with her bare fingernails.

With the guards neutralized, she could get into the building known as "Second Circle".

.

.

.

Electronic music assaulted her sensitive ears. The people throwing money to the women dancing on poles, and the sex.

That was an ugly place for debauchery.

She materialized her karambit knife, its blade was black, perfect to avoid detection.

Her plan?

She was going to kill every scumbag in that building and with luck get some of their money for herself...For her future of course.

If she was going to have children with Adam better start saving money.

The place was full, people invaded each other's personal space. That was perfect to avoid getting detected and start an open conflict.

"Hey, I've never seen you before. How much do you charge?"

"Normally, I would be too expensive but for you, I would suck you dry for free."

The henchman smirked thinking that he was going to get laid with such beauty for free. That was his last mistake.

Jennifer had liberated part of her aura and filled the air with her pheromones arousing the man and clouding his judgment.

She guided him to an empty room and closed the door behind her.

When he dropped his jacket and turned around to press the beauty against the wall, she bit his neck.

Jennifer's fangs had increased their size slightly and pierced the carotid artery. She started to suck the blood at a high pace.

The man felt an astronomical pain that originated in his neck and expanded to the rest of his body, he tried to scream but Jennifer had slit his throat.

In the span of thirty seconds, the man's blood was drunk by her. The man lost consciousness and she let him fall to the bed behind him.

Jennifer felt a sudden burst of energy and excitement.

Her f...Axl could try to keep her away from danger but she needed action and she was going to get it.

Screw her f...Axl, screw stealth, she could take out everyone in that building.

She had taken the pistol of her victim, she was going to shoot one of the goons in the head, use her vampiric abilities to stand on the ceiling and once the place was free of civilians she was going to destroy everyone.

She executed her plan.

The gunshot alerted everyone, the place was emptied in a blink and the thugs were already looking for her.

It was a large group, she had an idea.

She quickly took aim and destroyed the source of light in the room. She moved just in time to evade the rain of bullets and energy that destroyed that portion of the ceiling.

"I saw her."

"Shit, she got Yoshida-san."

"What?"

"Shut up and find her, we need to kill her or the Boss is gonna kill us instead."

"I'm gonna have fun with that bitch."

They weren't devils, their night vision wasn't so good, and if it was added the fact that Jennifer had used her aura to increase the darkness. That was a basic art of the vampires and could even blind beings that have night vision.

Jennifer gracefully landed in the center, she was going to take care of the most dangerous. An oni surely was the most problematic one besides the tengu and the fox.

She didn't want to imagine what that oni did to the unfortunate women that he bought.

"I'm right here, have your fun."

Everyone in the room turned towards the voice but found nothing.

A brief scream could be heard, when they turned towards the sound, a corpse fell from the ceiling.

The electronic music covered well the intruder's moves and now none of them had the option of moving to turn off the speakers.

Before any of them had the chance to think about what to do, a pillar of dark energy hit the oni's face. He moved his big mace wildly hitting some of his partners, the rest of them separated to avoid the weapon.

They didn't realize that it was a huge mistake.

They had put one next to another, the perfect position for a trained shooter like Jennifer to take out multiple targets quickly.

From the ceiling, she shot at them straight to the head. The four of them fell to the ground, dead.

They weren't even middle-class yokais, without their aura strengthening the body, the bullets pierced through their heads with no problem.

Jennifer quickly moved out of the way just in time to avoid the mace. She should have killed him instead of using him as a distraction.

"I'm gonna kill you, whore!"

Before their very eyes, she vanished.

"Wh-"

The yokai couldn't end his sentence, Jennifer slit his throat and paralyzed the rest of the group with her telekinesis.

Once they were stopped, she sent them against the walls with force.

The oni was the only one who managed to not be thrown. His eyes were burnt and all he could do was swinging his mace blindly.

Jennifer quickly shortened the distance and grabbed the mace with her hand. The oni let out a sound of surprise before her strength, this was all he could do before getting his face smashed by his own weapon.

She moved at an unnatural speed dodging the bullets and magic that flew toward her. They hit the oni instead reducing his body to nothing but an amorphous mass of flesh.

The group slowly was reduced; before they could even notice it, the tengu and the kitsune were surrounded by the corpses of their partners.

The gunshots and waves of darkness that eliminated them were so fast. Who was that woman?

"Let's get outta here," said the kitsune to the tengu. "Let's go."

No response.

"Souji?"

The head of the tengu fell to the ground.

"B-"

The kitsune tried to say something but he couldn't. The fear took over when his eyes met hers.

She had caused all of that bloodshed and yet she was totally clean. What was really disturbing was her cold glare, she wasn't showing any emotion and he could swear that deep in her eyes he could see a little flame.

A flame that got stronger when she smiled widely.

A mere glimpse at her beautiful cyan eyes ended with his consciousness.

Jennifer walked calmly, the harpy on her shoulder was very light and that small body of hers made the task of carrying her really easy.

The harpy was asleep, the blonde has interfered just in time to stop the pig. A girl having her first time stripped from her was an experience that she didn't wish for anyone.

She was going to take her to a safe place and then finish her j...

An explosion behind her interrupted her thoughts, she had made sure to destroy "Second Circle". The fire took its time.

"Where is Hideyoshi?"

Jennifer meditated on how to answer the question of the harpy. Judging by the way she asked for the man who kidnapped her, she supposed that the man knew her.

Well, he was being consumed by fire at that very moment so she didn't have to worry about him anymore.

"Don't worry about him, little one."

Natasha tried to not fall asleep but her attempts were futile, her body needed to rest.

Kuriho was arms crossed, while she loved magic, she hated science.

How Natasha could be so passionate about science?

It wasn't like she hated it, actually, it was pretty fascinating but she couldn't really understand something more than the very basics of quantum physics beyond that point her brain turned into jelly.

And chemistry, urgh!

The very basics and then...Jelly!

Natasha stood up violently and grabbed the pen on the desk. She wrote something on a sheet of paper before sitting again on the plastic chair.

"This is a Mobile Laboratory equipped with the best technology and yet there aren't good chairs!"

Natasha voiced her complaints in Russian, Kuriho had to use her telepathy to understand her.

"Natasha, you should get some sleep. How about this?" the fox-woman motioned the book on her lap. "We go to the rooms that the Empress kindly gave us so I can give you a massage to relax your nerves."

"But I-"

"Nothing, you need to rest. If something happens I will wake you up."

Natasha wanted to refuse but her brain...Why was she fighting against her natural urges?

Right, she was monitoring the radar for any disturbance in the space-time fabric. Adam could appear at any moment.

Kuriho had kept her and Jennifer relatively calmed because she affirmed that Adam was alive.

She claimed that she could feel his soul.

"I'm taking you to your bed."

"No."

.

.

.

Kuriho had left Natasha asleep in her room. That woman had a bad habit to deprive herself of sleep.

She could understand her reason to not want to sleep.

Adam was missing all of sudden, it had been a week and there wasn't any news about his whereabouts.

She even was interrogated by her savior's aunt.

"The Empress is so hot."

Yes, her savior's aunt was cute and really cared for him.

"The Emperor is an idiot. I would spend all of my nights with her."

Yes, she somehow knew the crimes that she and her sister had committed.

"That young man that visited her must be her lover. Should I offer myself?"

Okay, that was enough!

What were all of those horny idiots looking at?!

Kuriho furiously walked toward the source of the perverted thoughts. If they weren't Adam's they began to be annoying.

A bar, a bar inside the palace. Of course!

There had to be a woman there. Wait, they were thinking about Yasaka.

Kuriho crossed the entrance, the bar was so well implemented to the palace's structure that it could be easily mistaken for a room.

The bar looked more like a restaurant than a bar, Kuriho deduced that it was the place where personnel used to go to eat or drink something and if she had to assume things, they did frequently.

Sat on a table (literally), was Yasaka drinking an entire bottle of sake.

The Empress let the empty bottle on the table and giggled, an Ochimusha was giving death glares to the men (and some women) that were undressing the Empress with their eyes.

The golden kitsune was wearing a simple white dress and seemingly no brassier.

Kuriho couldn't blame them for having fantasies but she could slap them for imagining too much.

As soon as she set foot in the bar, a lot of eyes fixated on her.

She got used to the attention, a lot of men and women alike were hypnotized by her beauty but she attracted attention mostly for her nine tails.

The number of tails of a kitsune was proof of their strength and the fact that she possessed nine meant that she was as strong as the Empress.

Kuriho knew that to declare someone stronger than others more than raw power was needed. Technique, experience, and ability were decisive as well.

And Yasaka possessed them all.

The kumiho took a seat and with her tails pulled Yasaka's wrist; the blonde took the hint and sat on the chair, next to her guest.

"Hello. How are you, little one?"

Kuriho smiled and snatched the bottle from Yasaka's hands. "I'm fine, Yasaka. You seem to be in the need of relaxation."

Yasaka pushed her shoulder before snuggling against her neck. Kuriho felt like a teenager for blushing.

Okay, the Empress needed to talk with someone alone.

With a telepathic command, Kuriho made everyone but the Ochimusha leave.

"So...What's in your mind, Yasaka?" asked Kuriho. "I might help."

The blonde separated slightly, she unconsciously wrapped her tails with Kuriho's and almost automatically embraced her with an arm.

"Youuu are like him. It's been a while since I could talk with another fox."

"Talk as much as you like, I'm here to listen," said Kuriho before taking a sip from the bottle.

Yasaka grabbed another bottle from the table and drank its content as if it was mere water. The Ochimusha got nervous and tried to reason with her mistress.

"Mistress, that's dangerous. Allow me to escort you to your bedroom."

Yasaka slowly opened her mouth and articulated a slow and clear "No".

Kuriho gestured the undead monster girl to take a sit as well. She obliged and sat across the table facing them.

"Don't worry, we will take her there once she loses consciousness."

"Thank you..."

"K...Orohimara Kuriho."

"Thank you, Orohimara-san."

"No need to be so formal, just call me Kuriho."

Kuriho used one of her tails to lend the undead woman a bottle. She didn't understand at the moment but quickly realized what Kuriho wanted.

"I can't drink, I'm working."

Yasaka pointed at the Ochimusha accusingly. "You are boring. Your Empress commands you to drink."

Kuriho just made a gesture to tell the undead that it was alright.

The Ochimusha poured the content of the bottle into the glass. She hesitantly pressed the glass against her lips and drank the liquid.

"Does she drinks often?"

The onna-bugeisha gathered her memories of her mistress drunk. The most recent was a month ago.

"Sometimes, she drinks when she's too stressed."

"It's normal. What could've been stressing her?"

Absolute silence.

"My husband, he is too annoying."

Kuriho gave the ochimusha a thumb up. Yasaka was going to talk about her problems by herself.

"Tell us, Yasaka. Why is he annoying?"

The undead had a good idea why. She was aware of how bad husband the Emperor was.

He spent little time with the Empress and wanted to impose his authority over hers. Besides, he had all of those concubines and wasted money in pr...courtesans.

"He doesn't want to spend time with me. I've reached my limit, I can't stand it anymore!"

Yasaka suddenly stood up and pointed at the entrance of the bar.

"He is coming right here. I'm going to tell him!"

Kuriho stood up to let Yasaka walk to the entrance; the ochimusha wasn't so sure about her mistress' idea.

"You!"

Haruki jumped a little for the surprising scream.

"What's gotten into you?!" he questioned almost angry.

"Nothing!" she replied. "This is the real me and I'm going to tell you everything I think about you."

Haruki instantly started to think of a way to stop her, he needed to control the situation.

"Dea-"

"Shut the fuck up!"

Kuriho and the ochimusha opened their eyes wide. The Kumiho smiled and clapped while the undead simply stood up and took her hand to the hilt of the katana on her hip.

She didn't trust the Emperor enough, he might try to hit her. If she had to cut down the Emperor to protect her mistress so be it.

"You spend days just fucking like a damn bunny!"

Kuriho burst into laughter, that was so funny!

"You don't love anyone but yourself. When was the last time you said 'I love you'?"

Yasaka took a sip from the bottle that she was holding. That was being so satisfying, this time he was being the one silently taking all of the insults.

"I've been enduring you for years. How was I so blind?"

"Enduring me?" Haruki repeated. "What do you mean?"

"I can't believe it!"

Before the ochimusha could react, Kuriho was already grabbing Yasaka's wrist. If she hadn't acted, Yasaka would have slapped him.

While drunk, it was pretty hard to keep the strength under control. Her slap probably would have sent Haruki to the Land of the Dead.

"I think that the right to beat him belongs to your chosen one."

Yasaka nodded at Kuriho's words. "Yes, you're right."

The effects of the alcohol seemed to start to wear off. Kuriho had to keep the flames alive.

"Why don't you tell your husband about your chosen one?"

Haruki had to use all of his willpower to restrain himself from raising his voice. Yasaka and that whore were nine-tailed foxes while he had just three; he was at a clear disadvantage. Ignoring them wasn't an option neither.

Yasaka was mad at him and she had grown tired of his attitude. What did she want?

He was the Emperor, she was rightfully his. He pleased her for years playing the gallant knight and he grew tired of that act.

He should have been more careful- A few decades and he would have stripped her from any political power and then he would have been the supreme ruler of the western yokais.

And she would have been dominated and begging for the chance to share a bed with him.

That stupid Rose had to interfere.

It seemed that his wife was a whore and fell for that...insolent bastard.

Kuriho heard that sometimes hearing other person's thoughts was annoying as hell but now, she was going to kill that megaloma...

That feeling of comfort and tranquility.

Her savior was back!

She needed to witness the conclusion of that conversation.

"William-kun is far better than you, he really cares for me. I'm tired of you and your infidelity and your...I'm tired of you!"

Yasaka ended the content of her bottle and readied to state her will.

"Ichika!" she called the Ochimusha. "Divulge my words!"

Ichika quickly ran to her mistress' side and created a magic circle. She wasn't comfortable not having her hand on her katana but her mistress needed her.

"I, Yasaka, the sovereign of Kyoto since ancient times, have opened my eyes."

Haruki attempted to stop Yasaka; he could guess what she was going to say and it wouldn't be good for him. His movements were stopped by Kuriho's telepathy, she forced his body to stay still.

"For a long time, I've been turning a blind eye to his bad choices and actions. I let my emotions cloud my judgment and for that, I apologize; I caused pain to you, my people."

Kuriho smirked and crossed her arms, she could tell that the effects of the alcohol had worn off.

"I will change this, the Royal laws state that I can't overthrow my husband because we have almost the same political power. Since I can't do anything to revoke him from the throne, I have chosen a man that is worthy as the guardian of Kyoto and as its Emperor."

Haruki's heart stopped for a moment.

Kuriho was surprised, she knew that Yasaka felt something for her savior but to entrust him such an important matter.

"I, Yasaka, challenge the current Emperor to a duel for the throne and my hand. As the Royal laws state, that this duel takes place is your choice."

Ichika closed the circle and placed her hand on the hilt of her katana.

Haruki was freed from Kuriho's control. How did she dare to do that?!

"You don't know what you have done, dear," he said with clear fury.

"Our future will be decided by the people we both neglected."
