Chapter 28
Eric van Genus' Audio Journal #30: Emotions & Logic
There are many parts of the human mind that is know for creations of an intelligent being. First, logic. Logic helps out with many forms of problems such as figuring out how to grow food, do mathematics, and much more. Logic helps us explore the mysteries of the universe through solving problems. Exploring how things tick and increase our understanding of all things. People say that we are rational and logical beings, but that's not always true. For that is where the polar opposite comes in: Emotions.
Emotions is hard to explain and will always be. Emotions help us with creativity, charge hard long into battle, able to feel and fully express ourselves. Emotions are irrational. That is the equilibrium for all sentient life. Emotions to express our free will and artistic creations while logic helps us solve problems. But with humans, they are more emotional than rational. THAT lead to an entire series of problems. Racism, fear of the unknown, greed, jealousy, hatred and much more. Humans back on Earth have always let their emotions get the better of them rather than trying to find compromises. People will always take advantage of another's emotions in order to sway them. It's the same with all sentient species, including the Faunus. But the Vulcans from Star Trek suffer something from being too logical.
Being focus on logic over emotion strips one of their creativity. Fully expressing themselves to others like many other sentients do. True, they have achieved peace but stripped them of artistic creations. The Romulans are the total opposite as they let their emotions get in their way and promote more war than peace. Thus, a conundrum. We're all flawed, but that's what makes us intelligent beings. But with my experiences and knowledge, perhaps I could give the natives of this world a new hope.

Beacon Academy, RWBY Dorm, Two Days After the Fall of Atlas...
It has been two whole days since Atlas has fallen. Many students that were supposed to be part of the Vytal Festival went back home to help out but will return in time for the festival. As of now, Blake is reading her new book while sitting on her bed. Ruby and Yang are busy playing a fighting game.
"Any idea when Weiss is coming back?" Ruby asks as she furiously try some combos.
Yang tries to fight back and do combos of her own, "She should be back any minute. It's a good thing that most of her family survived and are staying with her other brother. So best not to, brother her." She did a terrible pun.
"Player 1 Wins."
"And like your puns, you suck." Ruby beats Yang.
Yang looks away as she cross her arms like a sore loser.
Then Weiss comes in through the door, "I'm back."
Ruby turns around, "Welcome back, Weiss!"
Yang turns to see Weiss, "So, how is your family settling?"
Blake puts her book down and look at Weiss.
Weiss walks in, "They're settling in over at my half-brother's house. As of now, Schwarz Lamb-Schnee is an official member of the family."
"That's good to hear." Ruby is glad to hear some good news.
Weiss sits on the edge of her bed, "But did you girls hear about what we found on the island?"
"Apparently, it turned out to be ancient life forms from unknown eras." Blake responds. "Something that have turned religions upside down and are in an uproar about the fossils. Some of the more...'zealous' followers even tried to destroy them. Luckily, none have been damaged during an explosion that happened yesterday."
Yet Ruby asks, "But why would anyone collect a bunch of old bones?"
Zwei pops up under Weiss' bed and does a happy bark.
"No, Zwei. You're not having any."
Zwei becomes sad with his ears down along with a whine, but Weiss picks him up and pets him.
Blake says, "Because these are pre-historic relics of creatures that existed long before the ancient civilizations. It's a discovery of a lifetime."
"I agree." Weiss says as she rubs Zwei's belly. "What we're looking at is the pinnacle of archaeological discovery. The Evolutionaries have been finding fossils through old Schnee Company mines before replenishing them." And is now angry as she crosses her arms, "And I will never forgive them for destroying my home and bringing down my family's company. Even worse, my father was its end." Weiss is extremely upset that she lost her family's legacy and the company is no more.
"I hate to be in your shoes." Yang says.
But she hugs and cuddles Zwei as a way to cope.
Blake stands up, "So any ideas on what they're next move is? Destroying Atlas is understandable, but there must be more to it."
Somewhere in Mistral, Branwen Tribe's Camp...
Raven is sitting in her tent as she formulate a battle plan for the next raid as she looks at some maps on the table. However, Vernal enters.
"Excuse me, chief, but we caught some strangers lurking around."
Raven looks at Vernal, "Who's side are they on?"
"We don't know. They looked like priests of some new religion."
"Priests?"
Raven and Vernal exit out of the tent and see a group of five people wearing red colored robes and hoods with only one of them having deer antlers poking out. They are wearing strange medallions that are reddish in color with a symbol of a phoenix on them. Two of them are women and the rest are male. They're on their knees with their hands died and Shaddy is holding a gun to one of their heads.
Raven approaches the middle one, "Who are you?"
"We're brothers and sisters of the Church of Isekai." the priest answered calmly, which makes everyone else uncomfortable and nervous. "We were told that the Spring Maiden will fall and the Lamp of Knowledge will fall to darkness." He looks up, "And you... You're the maiden."
Raven looks down at the priest and is surprised that the priest knows that she's the Spring Maiden. "What makes you say that?"
"We have many eyes and ears all across Remnant. We even know about your other magical abilities such as, being able to turn into a raven. A gift from Prof. Ozpin. Or rather, Ozma. And I've already delivered my message to you. However, there is something that can bypass the vaults without the power of the Maidens."
Raven grips her Omen by the hilt, "And what exactly does the Church of Isekai believe in?"
"We believe that there is a thing as reincarnation. But unlike Ozpin's, we believe that once we die, we will be reincarnated into another world. One far different from this one. As long as we can keep our memories to help enlighten them. Yet there will be times when those worlds will summon us to be there champions."
Raven looks down on him, "I heard that the Evolutionaries created your church and have already cause some damage. In that case..." Raven pulls out her sword and killed all members of the Church of Isekai in one swing.
All five heads fall down from the necks of the priests and priestesses before their bodies fell. Shaddy backed away and dropped his gun after nearly getting killed himself. Vernal is also shocked that Raven just killed five people in the row. Once finished, Raven puts Omen back in its sheath.
She orders, "Pack everything and tear this camp down. We're leaving." Raven walks back to the tent.
Vernal walks beside her, "So the Evolutionaries know about everything, and found a way to bypass the vaults?"
"We can't take everything they say seriously." Raven says, "But these Evolutionaries are capable of many things from what we've gathered. If they're capable of opening a vault without the need of a Maiden, then they might have." Raven enters her tent, "We're gonna have to find the Relic before they do. I'm pretty sure that Salem is thinking the same thing despite her forces getting smaller."
Raven puts her maps away.
"You're heading towards Mistral? What if it's a trap?"
"It might be." Raven looks back at Vernal, "Yet you have seen what those people are capable of. Able to turn Dust into other forms of resources, filling empty mines with those new resources, and who knows what else they have that can tip the scales." She puts the maps in her box located on the right side of her bed, "I have to do this to ensure none of them can get their hands on the Relic of Knowledge. If Salem or the Evolutionaries get it, they'll know everything."
Raven went through the back door of her tent with Vernal following. She looks back at Vernal, "Make sure our tribe is safe while I'm gone."
Vernal respectfully bowed her head, "As you wish, chieftain."
Raven transforms into a raven and flies away.
Salem's Domain, Same Time...
In the meeting room of the Evernight Castle, Salem is having a meeting with Emerald, Mercury, Hazel, Tyrian and Watts. Watts replaced his hand with a robotic one under his glove while Tyrian has his tail replaced with a cybernetic one. Emerald is frightened being in Salem's presence. Mercury and Hazel are actually alright being in this dark, creepy castle of death full of Grimm.
Salem says to her council, "The Relic of Knowledge is our next target. We must have it to learn about the Evolutionaries and their leader. I want that Relic. Find the Spring Maiden and get that vault open. Understand?"
Tyrian does some maniacal chuckling, "Of course, my goddess. I will do anything for you."
"Go."
They all left and embark on their way towards Mistral.
As they all left Salem ponders, "Just how much do they know? The only people that know about the Four Relics are me, and Ozma. He and I are the only ones that can use magic and are the only ones from older times. Yet this leader of the Evolutionaries is... Hmm... Just who is this person."
Salem snaps her fingers to get an Observer to come over. The creature hovers over to her and stops on the left side of her seat. She looks deep into the sphere and see if any of her other Observers have made it into where the Evolutionaries are. The orb of the Observer only shows mountains and a lush alpine forest. The orb shows the view of the other Observer as it travels through the mountains. However, something shot it down. It only showed a blue trail of light that caused the Observer to fall down. From the last images, Gris is there as he smiles and pulls the trigger.
Disappointed, Salem switches over to another Observer. This one showed another location yet sees an airship heading north. But the Grimm gets killed again by Gris, seventy-five miles away from the first location. Salem starts to get annoyed and switches over to another Observer, yet this time it focuses on Mistral. The Observer is miles away from the city and sees a raven with red eyes is seen flying overhead. The Observer zooms in onto the raven as it lands. As it focuses on the raven going through the leaves, Raven Branwen comes down. Raven draws Omen and kills the Observer watching her. Salem is intrigued by what she saw.
"So Ozpin has made his move."
Eric van Genus' Audio Journal #31: Sylvester Stallion, Maya Mantoida, Rune Fenris
Sylvester Stallion is, as best I can described, a strange parody of Sylvester Stallone from the Rocky movies. Despite that, he is one hell of a fighter. When you're in a jam, he's the best man to help out. Sylvester has always been a fighter even when we were kids growing up in that awful orphanage. He fought against the caretakers when they do something terrible and get locked-up for fighting back. However, when in a fight, you don't want to be on the business end of his fists. Sylvester always dreamed of being a boxer when he grows up or a coach. A love for athletics that one. He was a street kid who never met his parents growing up at a more better orphanage before it was shot down. As a child, he watched a few boxing matches he saw out in the street near a few old buildings before they were torn down. He saw strength, power, respect and most importantly for him, a purpose. Help those find strength and be strong enough to handle any situation, like a coach he watched who taut many underground fighters.
Maya Mantoida. A mantis Faunus wrapped in a mystery. She's been a mute ever since I first met her. As a matter of fact, I think she was born a mute. From what little I can understand, her father and mother had a bit of an argument since he was in the White Fang while her mother was against it. One night, in the most heated argument, he killed her out of rage and got sent to jail. And poor Maya got sent to that dreadful place. Maya always kept to herself and since she can't talk, she always have something to hide. Like a poison I discovered that is similar to Basilisk's Blood from Game of Thrones. A few drops on cooked meat and the person or creature that digest it will go into savage insanity. Maya has a large collection of poisons that she uses on rare occasions and noticed a few old and worn books she has on her shelf. One of which includes poisons. Whether she poisoned her father or not is hard to say and won't speak of it. Yet she now has a more cheery demeanor since we all left that orphanage with a smile that hides a killer's facade. Yet seem to be very attached to Rune.
Rune Fenris. Ambitious, loyal, on task and very serious. A mixture of military discipline and rebellious youth. Rune believes that the Atlas Kingdom shouldn't be the only ones with a military force that protects people from the dangers and should be more volunteer than selecting people at random to join. His father, Lop T. Rune, opposed the presence of the Atlesian military and tried to fill everyone's heads of ideas on how things should be. One night, Lop was shot. Whether it was an assassination or not, it is hard to tell. Rune has been instrumental in leading the Volunteer Military of Enlighten Valley. He help out with disciplining the soldiers as Sylvester trains them in hand-to-hand while Maya help out with special forces training.
These three are crucial for our military and they are a force to be reckon with.
