Starco vs Parenthood Introduction - In all of these chapters it's the same Star & Marco, same kids, and same world but the story is not linear. That said, each chapter is a complete story and can be read separately.
This chapter starts 10 years after the Cleave. Both Star & Marco are 25.
Favs, reviews, and constructive feedback are all really helpful. Thanks!

Chapter 27 - Burritos
.
In a condo about thirty minutes outside of Echo Creek, just before noon, a young mother sings to her swaddled newborn son while her three year old daughter observes from the doorway.
~ Ooooh burrito, burrito… ~
~ I'll never let you go my little burrito ~
~ Burrito burrito burriiiiiiiiito… ~
~ It's such a long way to go ~
~ For me to eat youu… ~
"Mommy, don't eat him!"
"Hmm, I don't know. It's lunch time and he does look pretty tasty. Also I'm a mom so I can kind of do what I want. Buuut I guess maybe I should wait a few years. You know, let him fatten up."
Her daughter's face turned to a disapproving scowl. A look that had become all too familiar over the past few months.
"Hun, I'm joking. Come up on the bed. I want you to see how cute he is."
Slowly the young child climbs up onto the blankets and kneels down between her mother and her new little brother. The baby's eyes are closed but his mouth is moving like he is sucking on the thumb that he's still weeks away from controlling. "...Mama shh. We need to be quiet when the baby is sleeping."
"Actually, we don't. Some good mommy advice I got from grandma Diaz a long time ago, when you have a little baby it's good to make noise around them when they are sleeping so they get used to it. That way when they get older loud noises don't wake them up as easily."
"Ohh."
"That's why when you were a little burrito we always had music on when we put you to sleep."
"What kind of music?"
"All kinds. Lots of Love Sentence but your father also liked to put on Ella Fitzgerald for you. I have to say, Ella is way better than that cool jazz your dad sometimes listens too. I liked to be a little silly so when I put you down I would make up things to sing to you." After making sure her son was safe on the far end of the bed, Star lifts up her daughter and cradles the three-year-old in her arms.
"Mommy, I'm not a baby anymore."
~ Oooh burrito, burrito… ~
~ I'll never let you go my little burrito ~
~ Burrito burrito burriiiiiiiiiiiiiito… ~
~ I love you sooo… ~
~ For growing up, you have a long way to go ~
~ But I'm still going to eat youu! ~
"No! Mama, no!" With that Star buries her head into her daughter's stomach while making 'nom-nom-nom' sounds. "Mommy! It tickles-it tickles!"
Pulling her head back, Star gives her kidlet a wide smile. ~ I looove youu. ~
While doing her best to protect her belly with her arm, the child answers back with the only words that come to mind. "Mommy, I don't like your singing."
"Thanks! You really know how to warm a mother's heart. So if I can't eat either of you little burritos I'm going to need your father to make me something for lunch. Did your dad get home from the grocery store yet? "
"I checked before but didn't see daddy."
Turning to the smart speaker on the nightstand, Star calls out to it. "Okay Google, call Marco."
"…"
"Okay Google…" Star let out a sigh while putting her daughter down. "Okay Janna, call Marco."
"SORRY I DO NOT KNOW ANYONE BY THAT NAME."
"Arrgh! Okay Janna, call Safe Kid!"
"CALLING SAFE KID."
"...every time she babysits…"
.
"Hi hun."
"Hey babe, where you at? If I don't have lunch soon we might be back to having one kid again."
"I was almost done at the grocery store but then this fight broke out between some monsters and humans over the free samples they were giving out. I've been trying to get everyone to calm down before this escalates."
"Are they the tiny hotdogs that are dipped in cheese? Those are soooo goooood."
"The samples? Star...HEY BUDDY, PUT THE BROCCOLI DOWN. WE DON'T WANT ANYONE GETTING HURT!"
"Marco, no fighting! Remember the internet articles after the last time we broke up a fight and sent six people to the hospital. We don't want any more publicity like that, Eclipsa might not care but my mom will flip."
"Talking them down hasn't been working so I'm open to suggestions?"
"Daddy! Sing to them!"
"Hi pumpkin. Mommy didn't tell me that you were listening. I-I'll think about it. Star, I have to go. One of them is about to pick up a watermelon."
"Daddy! Sing to them and bring home ice cream!"
"Good luck hun and remember that all the grands are coming over this afternoon. Love you."
"Love you too. HEY GUYS, ANY OF YOU KNOW THAT NEW LOVE SENT…"
With the call ended, Star begins to accept her fate. "Maybe there's still some cereal in your dad's secret hiding place. Let's go find out."
.
After placing the youngest Butterfly in his bassinet and asking 'Janna' to play some Ella Fitzgerald, mother and daughter head to the kitchen to see what scraps of food might be able to hold them over until dad's return. The whole time Star sings about every item in the fridge.
~ Carrots are good! Carrots are good! Yeeoww! ~
~ Ten hotdogs sitting in a sack, la-la-la-la-laaa. ~
~ Rolls only have eight in a pack, la-la-la-la-laaa. ~
~ You would think Earthers would make them match. What is up with thaaaaat. ~
~ There is creamer but no milk. Would that make the cereal grooooss? ~
~ If there are no better options, mama might make herself some toooastt! ~
Meanwhile her daughter does her best to pretend that she was hatched from an egg and her mother, who's every action embarrasses her, does not actually exist.

I used the song from Lint Catcher. Credit to the SVTFOE writers for that one. Credit for the 'Carrot Song' goes to my Star. She came up with it before our kids were born.
This was my entry for the r/StarVStheForcesofEvil, July 2021 Writing Contest although I've made a few edits since then. The subject for this contest was Music. Hopefully you enjoyed this, it ended up winning this month.
It might be a bit before the next chapter is ready, it's looking like it might hit 20K words which is huge for me. I'm in the editing phase now but that usually takes me a while. - Olin
After chapter 26 was added 'Ed' entered my life and posted 20+ comments to this Fan Fiction as well as to my first story 'Ever After'. It totally made my week as I'd keep getting notifications while he was making his way through the chapters. Thank you Ed, you rock!
_1863_, NightAroma, and the r/StarVStheForcesofEvil mods - Thank you for all the nice comments and for the contest!
