10 years after The Battle Of Hogwarts

The Underground Secret Base

The long table was made of silver steel, as were the seven chairs around it – cold, polished, steel – nothing looked comforting, nothing looked homely – it did not look like a normal room. Which was understanding, considering that the people who sat around the table, on the hard, uncomfortable (not that they cared or really noticed) chairs, where really not normal. But still, you would find yourself asking, who would want to live, or even be, somewhere like that? And the answer is no one. Not even the coldest, darkest of hearts, would find pleasure sitting on steel chairs by a steel table. And then you might wonder, why is it made of steel? Why not wood, or maybe glass, like so many other homes? Well, before all that is explained, it might be time to introduce the people sitting by this questionable steel table on these questionable steel chairs.

At the head of the table sat Minerva McGonagall – a witch of about 78 years of age, with grey hair and a permanently tired and troubled look on her face, she needed a cane to support herself after her leg was hit with a curse during the Battle of Hogwarts. She was given medical attention quickly, but she still walks with a slight limp and the cane does actually come in useful. Mistress of Transfiguration, she is still as sharp-witted and talented as ever, although her years of duelling and battling death eaters has taken their toll, and she appears older than she is.

To her right sits Ginny Weasley – a young woman about 26 years of age, her vibrant red hair the same as ever, and she was one of the few people who had come out of the battle with no physical scars – oh, she had been cursed and harmed plenty in the battle, that was for sure, but none that left any remaining scars (physically, that is). Ginny was probably next on the list for Voldemort to kill (I mean, did you really think the Chamber Incident would go unnoticed?) and had probably been captured and tortured more times than any of the others during the war. While she may look fine except for her eyes that shone with anger and pain, she had suffered – the worst being when, one of the times when Death Eaters had caught her during the war, she had been ruthlessly raped by one of them. Her memories still haunt her troubled mind.

To Minerva's left sits Neville Longbottom – the resident shining night in armour, of about 27 years of age. Neville had changed. A lot. Like, a lot lot. He was no longer the shy, scared little boy. Although he was still the most Gryffindor of the troop, and the most hesitant to kill people, he too had been scarred by the war. He had also been captured by Death Eaters many times, enduring endless taunts about his parents while he was tortured by Bellatrix Lestrange. He had also been one of those lucky (or unlucky, depending on how you looked at it) few people who had survived with no permanent physical scars. However, it had irked Bellatrix that he had never been able to fall to insanity like his parents, so much so that she had been chasing after him for many years, trying to kill him. His eyes were always sad and tired, whenever he thought about all his friends that had died.

Next to Ginny sat Luna Lovegood – a girl who had once used to be a free spirit, strange and slightly wacky, who had been destroyed by war. Aged at 26, she too, like Neville and Ginny, had gotten away with no physical scars – except for one. During the Battle of Hogwarts Fenrir Greyback had found her where she was, helping out Madam Pomfrey with the injured. She had been bitten, right then and there, but had not transformed until a month later. The girl's eyes were empty and haunting – instead of the serene and dreamy ones they used to be when she looked out of the window, dreaming of green plains and sunflower fields, they now thought about the Battle of Hogwarts, about the fire that had consumed half the school. She was smart – incredibly so. But not the usual type of smart. She could solve riddles and figure out puzzles – and she was half seer, meaning she didn't get full-blown visions but was still very perceptive. If anyone saw her now, they would wonder where the sweet and innocent little girl had gone.

Opposite Luna and next to Neville is Seamus Finnigan – a wizard of around 27, he had grown a lot since his school years, and he had become better at magic, and smarter in general (to be fair, everyone had, considering the fact that they had been through hell and back) but, unfortunately, he had lost an arm during the Battle of Hogwarts. Antonin Dolohov had done it, and Seamus had been out for revenge ever since. He had suffered fewer mental scars, not having been tortured by Death Eaters, but the loss of an arm can shake you pretty hard. He isn't as reluctant to murder as Neville, but he always gets a slightly guilty feeling afterwards. His eyes were determined – he would not let the bastards who killed nearly all his friends get away.

Opposite Seamus and next to Luna is Aurora Sinsistra – a witch of 43, she was the Astronomy teacher at Hogwarts, and no one ever paid much attention to her. It's safe to say, they underestimated her – I mean, who would think an Astronomy teacher would be among the seven only survivors of the battle? (I knew it, but that doesn't count). She had gotten out with a few wicked scars, but nothing major like loss of limbs, and she had been able to knock out a few impressive Death Eaters. She was also somewhat seer, as she could sometimes read a bit of what would happen in the stars. Her eyes were simply sad – because of all she had lost.

Now we come to the last person, seated next to Neville, across from Aurora, Filius Flitwick – aged 64, iconic tiny charms proffessor – and a damn good duellist! Did everyone just forget that he had won awards for the best duelist of his time, or something? He managed to knock down plenty of Death Eaters, and get out with about as many scars as Aurora. His eyes, however, unlike the others, were resigned. They would occasionally flare with anger – but he was by far the least hopeful of the lot, not that anyway else had a lot of hope, to be fair.

As I said, the seven people (whom have now been introduced) sat around the steel table, on the steel chairs, and were having a...conversation, of sorts.

"Absolutely not! The idea in itself is crazy! It's only been tried once, and it went horribly wrong that time!" Filius said, his cheerful voice being changed to a sad, plain, resigned one.

"What other choice do we have, Filius?" Minerva asked, from her place at the table.

Aurora sighed. "I agree with Minerva, Filius. What other choice do we have?"

"Look, I know the risks as well as anyone else, but I still think we should do it. I mean, come on! It's our last chance to be able to fix everything, and save everyone who we lost!" Seamus exclaimed, his voice seeming almost...excited? But no, no one had been excited in years!

Ginny chimed in, "It's possible. I've read the book over and over, and I'm convinced that I could carve the runes without problem." Ginny had become an Ancient Runes as well as a Potions Mistress - she had always been talented in both. Meanwhile, Luna had become a Healer and Arithmancy Mistress (both she and Luna were also very talented in Charms), Neville had become a Herbology Master, Seamus had become a DADA Master (and both he and Neville were quite talented at Transfiguration.

"I could help Ginny with the runic circle, and add up the numbers," Luna added.

Neville sighed. "It's inevitable, Filius. You know this just as everyone else. It's either this, or stay here, hidden under-ground and trying to fight off Voldemort, while there are only seven of us and millions of them."

His words hit everyone like a cold waterfall, but especially Filius.

"Alright. I guess we don't have another choice, after all," Filius responded with a heavy sigh.

Ginny said, "Me and Luna can work on the Ancient Runes and the Arithmancy, so we can prepare everything for the ritual."

Luna nodded, and the two left the room.

"I'll go see what advice the stars can offer," Aurora said, also leaving the room.

"Me and Filius can work on the spell," Minerva suggested

Filius accepted that, and they too left the room.

"Guess that leaves you and me to come up with some sort of plan and get all the supplies ready," Seamus said to Neville.

Neville nodded, and the two stayed there to try and come up with some sort of plan.

The secret underground base that the seven had been staying in since a year after the Battle of Hogwarts was not all steel and coldness - when you exited the steel room, known primarily as The Room, but also known as The Discussion Room and The Planning Room, you saw a rather spacious living room. On the side near their relatively small kitchen, there was a couch and a couple of armchairs, all facing a fireplace. The floor was dark wood and the walls light grey, with the coffee table also being dark wood, and the couches and armchairs being a mix of blue, green and purple. On the side of the Living Room facing the Sleeping Area, there were a couple of wooden bookcases as well as wooden "study" tables along with wooden chairs. That is where Luna and Ginny had retreated, to review the Runes and Arithmancy. Then there was the kitchen, which was small and cozy, and looked very welcoming and homely. It had a single glass pane in the middle, allowing you to look at the sky, which was why Aurora had gone there. Next to the door to The Room, there was another door - inside it there was a place known mostly as The Practice Room, but also known as The Duelling Room or The Spell Room, and it was there they tested out new spells or practiced duelling, as it was equipped with many charms. This was where Minerva and Filius had gone, to practice the spell needed for the ritual. Opposite the door and next to The Library Area (as the place with the bookcases and "study" tables was called) there was a door which lead to the Sleeping Area. It would lead you to a long hallway with seven doors, and behind each door there was a small bedroom and a small bathroom for each person.

The entrance was hidden and warded with numerous Charms and Runes, and it also helped that it was underground, and it required you to place your wand on precisely the grass area in the field where it was, mutter "Ostende Mihi Faciem Mea," which meant "Show me my home," in Latin and was a code invented by the seven to be able to get teleported to the entrance door - where you had to cast your patronus to unlock the code, where you had to press in the numbers 1247 and then they would be able to unlock the door with a simple, "Alohomora,". Their base had yet to be discovered by Death Eaters, which they were thankful for each and every day.

You see, now I have described the base to you, and described the steel room to you, although not in much detail, to be fair, but I have yet to explain why the seven people live here. Now, you could guess, based on the information already given to you. You see, The Battle of Hogwarts went badly. Very badly. Harry Potter and the entire Golden Trio had been killed before Harry could sacrifice his life for Voldemort. Hermione had been set on fire by Antonin Dolohov, while Ron had been trampled by a giant. Harry had been snatched from the middle of the Battle by Lucius Malfoy, stunned and silenced, and delivered to Voldemort, where he had been binded and his wand confiscated before he woke up. There, Voldemort had killed him without much fuss. No taunting, no laughing - just plain killed him. Then, instead of letting Narcissa Malfoy (who was already gone with Draco) check if he was dead, did it himself - and promptly killed him again. Simple, easy, quick.

Whilst that was happening, Bellatrix Lestrange was in a fight with Molly Weasley, who had risen to her daughter's defence. This time, however, there was no teasing the woman. There was a quick "Avada Kedavra," and then she was dead. Of course, the whole Weasley Clan (bar Ginny, who had been yelled at by her remaining family, which was Arthur, George, Bill and Percy as Fred had been killed and Charlie had been trampled along with Ron by the giant) went full force on her. Just then, the small group of Death Eaters who had been with Voldemort when he had killed Harry returned, and Lucius Malfoy joined Bellatrix. So did Fenrir Greyback and Antonin Dolohov - Percy died first, struck by Dolohov - Next came Arthur, killed by Lucius Malfoy but managing to take him down with him - Then Charlie was killed by Bellatrix, like his mother, but managed to send a curse to Fenrir, which admittedly didn't do that much damage but caused some pain - And then last standing was Bill. The duel between him and Bellatrix as well as Dolohov (Fenrir had gone away after the curse he got from Charlie, and this is when he went to bite Luna) lasted a while, but finally, it was when both of them cast the killing curse and Bill frantically dodged Bellatrix's, and was hit square in the chest by Dolohov.

Then there where the ministry aurors, proffessors, and students to worry about. By the end of the killing spree only the seven from the light remained, and they quickly fled, realizing all hope of winning was lost - and the most major Death Eater deaths were Lucius Malfoy and a few other higher-ranking ones. Severus didn't count, he had been a spy. And Narcissa and Draco had fled sometime during the battle, most likely out of Britain (to Switzerland, actually, and Narcissa Green now owned quite the chain of hotels, while Draco Green was taking his writing degree at University) but there were still thousands and thousands left from the Dark, and only seven left from the light.

During the year that followed there had been more fights with Death Eaters and the seven - and in the end they created the Secret Base. Now, they could kick Death Eater's ass, but their base hasn't been found and they're not exactly going to go looking for trouble.

So, now you know! Well, at least some of it. Probably most of it. Phew, I'm tired from all that story-telling. I'll go get myself a cup of tea. Or maybe a glass of lemonade, it's hot outside!

A few weeks after the initial meeting with the seven, everything was ready. They all went outside - the first time in years! - and Ginny got to work. Luna had made the calculations necessary to go back the necessary amount of years to Harry and the Golden Trio's first year, and now Ginny was carving the runic circle. Suddenly, they felt someone trying to break through the wards, and there was a whole hoard of Death Eaters, with Voldemort himself smack in the middle. "You've evaded me for ten years!" Voldemort screamed. "No more! I WILL get you! I WILL be victorious!" He laughed, and so did many of the other Death Eaters. Ginny didn't lose her concentration, and continued. She trusted the others. Luna and Filius instantly began strengthening the wards, and Neville, Seamus and Minerva created three dome shields to cover the entire area around them.

Every single person of the seven had a shrunken backpack in their pockets - in there were two wands for those who would be above eleven when they returned and one for those who would be eleven or younger when they retired (the actual hand-crafted, self-made wand that they used was there for everyone, and for those above eleven the wand that they had gotten at Ollivander's), a sword, a set of daggers, emergency potions crafting kit as well as emergency potions, battle robes, and an invisibility cloak.

Ginny worked quickly, for it being a Runic Circle. Normally it would take hours - but Ginny was a prodigy at Runes.

"Hurry up! I can feel the wards almost falling!" Luna cried, whilst she and Flitwick doubled their efforts.

"It's getting hard to hold these shields up!" Seamus said for the three of them

"Done!" Ginny exclaimed.

Minerva and Filius instantly jumped into the middle of the circle, while Ginny joined Luna in trying to keep the wards up. Together, Minerva and Filius incanted the spell.

Just as the wards broke a strong winds started blowing, and Minerva and Filius cried, "Hurry!", as Luna, Ginny, Neville and Seamus all jumped into the middle of the Ritual Circle at the same time. As killing curses where fired at them, the blowing wind got stronger and stronger, until it was the only thing they could hear. They were dragged away from each other, and they each experienced pain like they never had before - it felt like they were being ripped apart from their reality.

The howling wind and the excruciating pain continued, until everything went black.

Author's Note: Hey! I hope you enjoyed the first chapter. I tried, I really did, to make a long chapter, but I just don't have the energy for writing so detailed! You're just gonna have to deal with short chapters. Right, so, I haven't decided who the weird little narrator guy is, I'm thinking of making it someone from the dead, like Harry's Parents or the Founders, or someone that ironic (unless you didn't like the narrator guy, then I'll just keep him like he is!). Anyways, in the meantime, give me your thoughts (I need to know if it was good or not!) and cross your fingers that I'll continue this story!

Cheers, Ciao, Adios, Regards, Sincerely, Bye, and whatever else you can think of,

Isabella.
